Re: [JAWS-Users] supported synthesizers?

2009-08-31 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
Hello Howard and David,

I also have a Vert prose 4000 speech card, also in a shelf, as it's too
wide to fit in the relevant card slots of any pc I could find to
purchase for the past ten years or more.

I was still able to use the card with an old version of openbook,
version 2 E, under windows 3.1 and probably up to windows 98, as
openbook could use that card to produce the dectalk voices, but that was
still in an older pc.

If you have a regular dectalk express, you may be able to utilize those
voices through that, however, not the Vert Prose 4000 card's internal
attractive voice, though.

Regards,

Riana

2009-08-31 Thread Van Der Walt Riana
Hello Listers,

Further to my previous message, there was a version of jaws available
for dos. I've never used it, but if you could find a pc in which the
relevant speech card could fit, you could perhaps try it out. I think
it's still on fs's site. And I don't think it was a paid version. I
don't have an idea what version it was and it would probably not have
been updated.

Both winamp and windows mediaplayer, have the option from within it's

I don't have access to those programs from the pc I'm writing from, to

But upon installation of winamp, the option to make it the default, is

I have a DEC talk express that I got in early 1995 that works on this system
after a firm ware update several years ago but that's about the only
architecture from those days that still works today. The old Vert board
unfortunately resides on a shelf since I no longer own a 386 to put it in.
Even a DEC talk PC card will not work in today's systems because the card

Hi Estelita,

it isn't a folder as such. You go to the blocked senders list by:
Tools, Message rules, Blocked senders - from the message list: alt-t, r,
s. You will then see your list of blocked senders. To unblock a
sender, highlight the sender, press tab until the Remove button is
highlighted, and then press enter. The sender will henceforth be
restored to your ordinary messages.

Hi Estelita,
I can see from your message, that you are using Windows Mail, but in your
other

message you say you are using Outlook Express.
The instructions that Mike included in his response, are for Outlook
Express,

and will get you where you need to be to carry out your task.
I do not have Windows mail running right now, so I cannot comment whether
these instructions will work with it or not.

I guess I will have to load Vista, or Windows 7 to have a look.

Hi Estelita,

Try the steps below.
While in Outlook Express,
1. Alt + T, for tools
2. R, for message rules.
3. S, for the blocked senders list. Once you are in this dialogue, you
will
have a list of blocked senders. From the list, choose the one you want,

Hi Estelita,

it isn't a folder as such. You go to the blocked senders list by: Tools,
Message rules, Blocked senders - from the message list: alt-t, r, s. You
will then see your list of blocked senders. To unblock a sender,
highlight the sender, press tab until the Remove button is highlighted,
and then press enter. The sender will henceforth be restored to your

2009-08-31 Thread Brian Lee

Hello Estelita,

If you are using Windows Mail then when in the list of messages press Alt+T
to bring up the tools menu. Press the letter J to open the Junk Email
options. Use CTRL+Tab twice to move to the block sender's page tab. use
tab key to the list of senders currently being blocked. When you first tab
to the list no item in the list will be selected so you will only have an
add button that you can tab to besides the usual OK and cancel buttons.
However, once you select a name you can use tab key and you will find an
edit button and a delete button.

Take care.

Hello again Estelita,

The information I gave in the last message was for moving to the blocked
senders list in Windows Mail. If you are referring to going to the folder
where junk Email messages are sent then just use CTRL+Y and press J until
you here the junk folder announced and then press enter key. If you meant
blocked senders list then the info in my last message is what to use.

Take care.

Hello Estelita,

I certainly can understand your confusion. Windows Mail grew out of Outlook
Express. A lot of the functions and features in windows Mail are the same
or very similar to those in Outlook Express. Windows Mail is basically
Vista's form of outlook Express. Even the main DLL file used in Windows
Mail is MSOE.DLL, which is the Microsoft Outlook Express DLL. Windows Mail
is only used in Windows Vista. If you are using Windows Vista then you are
using Windows Mail.

Take care.

You must be using word 2007. You will need a third party spell checker. If
you are.

[JAWS-Users] Attention Flor, Thank you, Jaws problem 2010

2009-08-31 Thread Russ Hubley
Hi Flor,

I wrote you about Jaws 10 freezing when I tried to update it. You suggested
that I try to install the latest version of Jaws directly from the web site.
Once again, my laptop froze after it was restarted. All Jaws would say when i
used a say line was, cancel. Before I turned off the computer, I had my son
read what was on the screen. He read a message, Windows cannot
reccognize/varify some drivers. Do you want to install anyway?

I had him click and the install went perfectly. I don't know if Vista had
anything to do with it, but Jaws is now working perfectly.

Thanks again!
Russ

Hello Estelita,

I certainly can understand your confusion. Windows Mail grew out of
Outlook Express. A lot of the functions and features in windows Mail are
the same or very similar to those in Outlook Express. Windows Mail is
basically Vista's form of outlook Express. Even the main DLL file used in
Windows Mail is MSOE.DLL, which is the Microsoft Outlook Express DLL.
Windows Mail is only used in Windows Vista. If you are using Windows
Vista then you are using Windows Mail.

Take care.

Hi Brian,
Your instruction works!
Thanks a lot.
You know, I'm kind of mixed up what exactly email client I am using!
Because when I am in my mail program, jumping from folder to folder, JAWS
says, outlook Express message, or Windows Mail message while revealing
what's on that folder.

Any idea why is it like that?
Thanks again, with best regards,

Estelita

Hello Estelita,

If you are using Windows Mail then when in the list of messages press
Alt+T to bring up the tools menu. Press the letter J to open the Junk
Email options. Use CTRL+Tab twice to move to the block sender's page
tab. use tab key to the list of senders currently being blocked. When
you first tab to the list no item in the list will be selected so you
will only have an add button that you can tab to besides the usual OK
and cancel buttons. However, once you select a name you can use tab key
and you will find an edit button and a delete button.

Take care.

Hi Estelita,

Try the steps below.
While in Outlook Express,
1. Alt + T, for tools
2. R, for message rules.
3. S, for the blocked senders list. Once you are in this dialogue, you
will
have a list of blocked senders. From the list, choose the one you
want, and
then tab to the remove button, and okay your way out of the dialogue.
