You can format a secondary drive using the command under the
file menu in XP
so long as the primary drive is not the target of your
operation where JAWS
is installed.

Hi Listers
I hope this is not too far off topic. Is there a way to
format a second hard drive while windows xp and jaws are
running from the primary drive? In other words, if I connect
a second drive and boot so that I can use jaws, is there
software which I can download to format and partition the
new drive or can it be done if I insert the windows CD and
let jaws assist me?

[JAWS-Users] windows 7

2011-02-24 Thread David Ferrin
I just unpacked my system last night and so far so good. I find it interesting
that the desk top is in tab order among other things but so far nothing I can't
handle. I did manage to get it in to classic mode with the address to show up
in the title bar in windows explorer and to a large extent do the out of box
experience with narrator on my own although not entirely. The only install so
far is jaws 12, next I'll hook it to my network and install service pack 1

2011-02-24 Thread tim

It will if in the right place.
Try the control panel, admin tools, computer management. Look for
devices and it will show you all internal drives, and let you
partition or format.
That is how I look for drives, because the myComputer and computer
only give format options no control of drive.

Re: [JAWS-Users] windows 7

2011-02-24 Thread David Ferrin
So far as software is concerned I didn't want much in the way of
pre-installed programs so the only thing right off the top I am going to
un-install is office 2010 since I already own 2003.

Windows 7 pro, 6 GB of memory and something called an I5 processor which I
am to understand is a new class from Intel. At the moment jaws 12 is the
only item that has been installed and since it's in my kitchen it's not
currently on the internet as I wanted a large area for us to work last
evening.

So far I'm please with the purchase and my wife was surprised how much I
already knew about windows 7, but that was learned during tandem sessions
working on other systems. Believe me though the road still stretches out
ahead of me, I'm just hoping it won't be too ruff.

3. Tab once. You will be in a group of three radio buttons. The top one

4. If you route Jaws to PC, you can then look at the status bar below the

[JAWS-Users] Using quick parts (auto text) in office 2007

2011-02-24 Thread Lennie

Hi,

I am not totally familiar with MS Word 2007, but I have a question
that I hope that someone can answer. I also hope that I can explain it.

In MS word 2003 using auto text, any word that is inserted will
automatically fill in. Different words have been inserted in quick
parts that should automatically fill in with MS word 2007.
I know that the words have been inserted, but when starting to type
any of the words, it is not automatically filled in.

Am I missing something? Any help or advice will greatly be appreciated.

Thanks. Take care.

Would let them know that the flash on that page is done wrong to
code. that is why you get the message and the page don't show any
links. The flash is not letting it move on to the rest of the page.

If they want a web page done right. Don't use wix.com it don't do flash good.
I looked at the source and wix.com is all over it, and even checked
out that site. There are better, send them to wordpress.com. Least it
does decent pages.

Hi Marilyn,

Perhaps my description made it sound harder than it is. It is really just a
matter of finding the applicable radio button, tabbing to a list of items
and selecting one and reading information about it in the next box that you
tab to. On my system, I had a quarantined item and some items that were
found that I had deleted, so perhaps that is why they showed in the history.
I am not sure that the various controls will show if there are no items in
the history.

If you want to just make sure that your system is being protected then go
into the system tray with JAWS key and function key 11 and use down arrow
key to find the icon that gives the status for the antivirus protection.
You should hear that your system is protected. If you hear that your system
is potentially unprotected, it might be that the program wants you to do a
scan. You can just tab three times and use the link that simulates a double
left mouse button click to bring up the program. Choose to do a quick scan,
which only takes a few minutes. When the scan finishes, go back into the
notification area using insert and F11 and arrow down. You will likely find
that your system is being protected.

If by chance you find that there is no icon in your system tray then it
might be that the Microsoft anti malware service needs to be allowed to
interact with your desktop. I have had a couple systems where that was the
case. Let me know if that happens to be the situation and I can give you
steps for enabling the interaction.

Sorry if it seemed really confusing. Sometimes, we make things harder than
they really are in actuality.

Hello Lennie,

I am using Word 2010, but if I remember right Word 2007 is pretty much the
same when it comes to auto text entries. When you type the first few
letters of the auto text name, press function key 3 to complete the process.
The auto text entry is saved to the auto text gallery in the Normal.DOTM in
Word 2010 and I think in Word 2007. You need to type the first few
characters that start the beginning of the name you gave the auto text and
follow that by f3.

I hope you get it working.

Take care.

Hello,

Here are a couple things that you might need to do.

The first thing is to allow the Microsoft antimalware service to interact
with the desktop. The second thing is to set to icon to always show in the
notification area.

Setting the service to interact with the desktop:

1. Use Windows key and type services.msc in the search box. Wait for
services to open, but you might need to use Alt+tab to move into the
services window if JAWS loses focus.

2. The focus should be in the tree view structure. Press tab key to
move to the list of services.

3. Press the letter M until you get to the Microsoft antimalware
service.

4. Bring up the properties by using Alt+enter key or by pressing the
application key and choosing properties from the menu. Focus will be in the
general page of the properties.

5. Use CTRL+tab key to move to the Log on page.

6. Use tab key to find a checkbox that says allow service to interact
with desktop and check it with spacebar if it is not checked.

7. Use tab key and press spacebar or enter key on the Apply button if
there is one or on the OK button.

8. Close the services by using Alt+f4.

The icon should show up in your notification area after doing those steps.

Allowing the icon to always show in the notification area

1. Use Windows key with B to move to the notification area. If you
hear notification shevron button then press spacebar.

2. Use the up arrow key to the customize menu choice and press enter
key.

3. Use tab key until you hear Microsoft Security Client user
interface. Use up or down arrow keys and select the choice for show icon
for notifications, although, it might be the first choice.

4. Use tab key to the OK button and press spacebar to accept the
choice.

Take care.

It will if in the right place.
Try the control panel, admin tools, computer management.
Look for

That is how I look for drives, because the myComputer and

Subject: [JAWS-Users] formatting hard drive with jaws
speaking

Hi Listers
I hope this is not too far off topic. Is there a way to
format a second hard drive while windows xp and jaws are
running from the primary drive? In other words, if I
connect
a second drive and boot so that I can use jaws, is there
software which I can download to format and partition the
new drive or can it be done if I insert the windows CD and
let jaws assist me?
Regards
Fanus

MSSE History:

1. Open MSSE.

2. Locate the home button. Right arrow twice to the history button.
Press spacebar.

3. Tab once. You will be in a group of three radio buttons. The top one
is View All Items, the second one is View Quarantined and the third
one is View Allowed Items. Up arrowing to the one you want will
highlight it.

4. If you route Jaws to PC, you can then look at the status bar below the
group of radio buttons and see whether there are any items depending on
the radio button you selected.

Take my advice, I don't use it anyway.

When you tab down once under history you get to a series of various

I recently got my win 7 Pro PC and one of the things which impressed
me from the get go was the system automatically detecting my home
wi-fi network and effortlessly connecting to same. No network
connection wizard or any of that XP stuff. Really was great not to
have to do all that set-up.

I just unpacked my system last night and so far so good. I find it

so far nothing I can't handle. I did manage to get it in to classic
mode with the address to show up in the title bar in windows
explorer and to a large extent do the out of box experience with
narrator on my own although not entirely. The only install so far is
jaws 12, next I'll hook it to my network and install service pack 1
along with any other updates ETC.

Re: [JAWS-Users] formatting hard drive with jaws speaking

2011-02-24 Thread Hans Pauli Sundstein

Hi Fanus.

Highlight the drive letter for the partition and press the context menu
button, and arrow down to format.
Press enter, and you are given the awailability to express format, deletion
only, or a standard formating.
As far as i remember, you will also get the possibility to format as ntfs or
fat 32 as type.

Be sure of, that it not is your computers standard drive C: that you're
going to reformat!

Hope you'll get success with this.

Hans Pauli.

Hello Tim
Thanks for your response. I did go where you suggested and I
can see the drive and if I activate populate I can use
the jaws cursor to get info about the size etc. but I can
not find a button or menu option for partition or format. Is
this something that jaws can not reach?

Fanus

It will if in the right place.
Try the control panel, admin tools, computer management.
Look for
devices and it will show you all internal drives, and let
you
partition or format.
That is how I look for drives, because the myComputer and
computer
only give format options no control of drive.

You can format a secondary drive using the command under
the
file menu in XP
so long as the primary drive is not the target of your
operation where JAWS
is installed.

Hi Listers
I hope this is not too far off topic. Is there a way to
format a second hard drive while windows xp and jaws are
running from the primary drive? In other words, if I
connect
a second drive and boot so that I can use jaws, is there
software which I can download to format and partition the
new drive or can it be done if I insert the windows CD and
let jaws assist me?
Regards
Fanus
