Re: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010
Hi Chris, At this point I am only proficient with JAWS 14 and earlier. These versions did not offer a means of circling your text in a word processed document. However, I'm wondering if you could highlight the text instead of circling it. I think there is an actual highlight feature in Word 2010, but I have never looked into using it. You could however, select the text you want to circle and change the background and foreground colors. Hello Colin Thanks for your willingness to help. I figured out quite a bit. The only thing that I can not manage is to let total recorder not record my jaws keystrokes i.e. I recorded a stream from the internet but my jaws keystrokes could be heard when I played the recording. Is there a way to avoid this. I am also using total recorder pro. Hi all, I have 15.0 and Win 7. I never got a reply on my problem with my speakers in that the “sound bar” now has a muffled sound, especially with JAWS. It does not appear to have the problem when playing music. My new observation is that the computer sounds, I.e. beeps etc., are much louder than the JAWS’ voice, instead of being the background. By the way, my sound bar/speaker is announced as “Real Tech digital output optical”. And, I am using “Eloquence”. Thanks for the help. Hi Jim, If I'm not mistaken, you can create a virtual soundcard with Total Recorder to get the arrangement you want, but I never had any luck with it. Re: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010
I played around with this. Dave's instructions are pretty much perfect except the place where he left off is the place where Word requires you to click and drag around the text you want to circle. Selecting the text in advance doesn't seem to help. At least it didn't for me. Inserting a shape doesn't work any other way as far as I can tell. So I don't see how it could be done without sighted assistance. Could be wrong though. What can be done is to draw a box around the selected text. Would this help or not? [JAWS-Users] total recorder podcast`
Hi Jim, Fanus and others: To answer your Total Recorder recording settings queries: During installation, the default setting should keep the Jaws voice and key strokes out of the standard recording. However, have a look in: File/Options/ Recording Source and Parameters.../ Check out all the options in there, especially under Advanced where you can option all different recording conditions including Sound Cards, internet streaming, what you hear etc. However, I normally have to change the Jaws cursor to route Jaws to PC to read or make changes in this area. I mainly record using Spin it Again, then edit using Total Recorder Professional, which I have enjoyed as one of the best audio editing programs I have used. I do all editing as .wav then change back to mp3 etc later on, prior to burning to CD. Re: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010
It would be interesting to know if drawing a box around the text still allows JAWS to read the text. I don't think that this is a problem with your sound bar, To me it sounds as though the jaws speech volume is low. That is why other sounds are loud while jaws speech can hardly be heard. In order to insert a border, wouldn't you need to know where the text is on the page, or in relation to the margins or page edge? I think there is an actual highlight feature in Word 2010, but I have never looked into using it. You could however, select the text you want to circle and change the background and foreground colors. I realize I posted this yesterday, but I'm not sure if it went through. I need to know how to circle an area of selected text in a Word 2010 document using JAWS 15, latest build or if this is even possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Best, Chris.
