Re: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010

2014-07-13 Thread Annette Carr
Hi Chris,

At this point I am only proficient with JAWS 14 and earlier. These versions
did not offer a means of circling your text in a word processed document.
However, I'm wondering if you could highlight the text instead of circling
it. I think there is an actual highlight feature in Word 2010, but I have
never looked into using it. You could however, select the text you want to
circle and change the background and foreground colors.

HTH,
Annette

Hello Colin
Thanks for your willingness to help. I figured out quite a bit. The only
thing that I can not manage is to let total recorder not record my jaws
keystrokes i.e. I recorded a stream from the internet but my jaws keystrokes
could be heard when I played the recording. Is there a way to avoid this. I
am also using total recorder pro.

By the way, my sound bar/speaker is announced as “Real Tech digital output

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010

Hi folks. I realize I posted this yesterday, but I'm not sure if it went
through. I need to know how to circle an area of selected text in a Word
2010 document using JAWS 15, latest build or if this is even possible. Any
help would be greatly appreciated.

Best,

Chris.

I have done this and seems that both the right and left are at the same
levels.

On my earlier post, I mentioned that originally my volume level was around
3-5 and now, I have to have it up to 13 or so in order to hear JAWS.

Thanks for the feedback.

Hi all,
   I have 15.0 and Win 7.
I never got a reply on my problem with my speakers in that the “sound bar”
now has a muffled sound, especially with JAWS.
It does not appear to have the problem when playing music.
My new observation is that the computer sounds, I.e. beeps etc., are much
louder than the JAWS’ voice, instead of being the background.

By the way, my sound bar/speaker is announced as “Real Tech digital output
optical”.
And, I am using “Eloquence”.

Thanks for the help.

You can download a free video file converter such as Prism from NCH

Re: [JAWS-Users] Circling an area of selected text in Word 2010

2014-07-13 Thread Martin
I played around with this. Dave's instructions are pretty much perfect
except the place where he left off is the place where Word requires you to
click and drag around the text you want to circle. Selecting the text in
advance doesn't seem to help. At least it didn't for me. Inserting a shape
doesn't work any other way as far as I can tell. So I don't see how it could
be done without sighted assistance. Could be wrong though.

What can be done is to draw a box around the selected text. Would this help
or not?

[JAWS-Users] total recorder podcast`

2014-07-13 Thread Colin Fell
Hi Jim, Fanus and others:

To answer your Total Recorder recording settings queries:

During installation, the default setting should keep the Jaws voice and key
strokes out of the standard recording. However, have a look in:

File/Options/ Recording Source and Parameters.../
Check out all the options in there, especially under Advanced where
you can option all different recording conditions including Sound Cards,
internet streaming, what you hear etc.
However, I normally have to change the Jaws cursor to route Jaws to PC
to read or make changes in this area.

I mainly record using Spin it Again, then edit using Total Recorder
Professional, which I have enjoyed as one of the best audio editing programs
I have used. I do all editing as .wav then change back to mp3 etc later on,
prior to burning to CD.

Colin (NZ)

Annette,

That's a good point. As far as I know JAWS still has difficulty with text
boxes but I haven't tried it in a while. But I was thinking more along the
lines of just adding a border around a group of words. JAWS reads that just
fine.

Best,

Chris.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Another sounds problem.

2014-07-13 Thread Richard Hamel

When I do this, all sounds are either raised or lowered.
It is still strange that the background sounds are louder than the JAWS.

Thanks.

Rich

press insert f11, arrow to speakers, enter on open volume control, there
should be a volume setting for JAWS. left or right arrow cursor keys should
adjust the setting. there's no okay button to save, just alt+f4 to save and
exit the volume control.

I don't think that this is a problem with your sound bar, To me it sounds as
though the jaws speech volume is low. That is why other sounds are loud
while jaws speech can hardly be heard. There is a command to adjust the jaws
speech volume. I am sorry that I cannot tell you how to do it. But I bet
that if you googled jaws speech volume you could find it. Good luck with
this problem.

I have done this and seems that both the right and left are at the same
levels.

On my earlier post, I mentioned that originally my volume level was around
3-5 and now, I have to have it up to 13 or so in order to hear JAWS.

Thanks for the feedback.

from your description, it sounds that the balance for the speakers might not
be equal. to check get into the playback tab, arrow to and spacebar on the
sound device in question. you can check the balance in the levels tab. if
you need guidance, post a shout out.

Hi all,
  I have 15.0 and Win 7.

2014-07-13 Thread Annette Carr
In order to insert a border, wouldn't you need to know where the text is on
the page, or in relation to the margins or page edge? I have not done page
layouts for newsletters in quite a while, so maybe this has changed.

Annette,

That's a good point. As far as I know JAWS still has difficulty with text
boxes but I haven't tried it in a while. But I was thinking more along the
lines of just adding a border around a group of words. JAWS reads that just
fine.

It would be interesting to know if drawing a box around the text still
allows JAWS to read the text. Last time I tried it, JAWS was unable to read
text that was inside text boxes and anything to do with word art or shapes.

Chris, I am curious about why you need to draw a circle around text.

Would this help
or not?

Hi Dave. No dice. I understand this might bring up a toolbar with some
additional options like text drawing that are inaccessible, but I selected
some text and performed the action you recommended with no results. Possibly
I could post this question to another list?

Thanks,

Chris.

hello there;
I really don't have a clue on how to do this, however, perhaps this
suggestion would work?
as I say, never have experience this.

first select the text which you wish to use,

now press,
alt+n followed by s+h,
now use the tab key and find oval grid,
press enter,

now, I don't know what would happen after this.

HTH,
Annette
