[JAWS-Users] vipre 2015 installed

2015-06-08 Thread leonard morris
I've successfully installed Vipre antivirus. That's a really new looking
interface compared with 2014. It's going to be a slight learning curve
but I think I got the hang off it.

go with Avira, or Vipre, accept don’t go with avast, because that’s not

Thank you Ted. You are right. However, before I saw your reply, I called
Freedomscientific and they said that Word 2007 sometimes turns these things
on, with no intent from the user. Crazy, isn't it?

I had to have an open document and then Alt F and up arrow to options and
then Tab until I heard something with the word all in it and uncheck it.

Thanks again!

I remember paragraph marks are controlled under that huge options menu. If
you have time and patience, go to file, tab up to Options, and over to
Advanced. It's one long list, but worth it.

Hi List, I’m having a bit of a brain freeze, so I’m hoping that someone
will be kind enough to help me out.

I’m using Word 2007 on a windows 7 computer with Jaws 16.

All of a sudden, Jaws is voicing things as: “New line” or “Paragraph mark”
and I have no idea what I did to cause this or how to stop it. My Jaws is
still set for intermediate and for “Some” punctuation.

When I went to the Jaws window and used Alt F and down arrowed to Voices,
I could not find anything for punctuation. Can anyone help?

Many sincere thanks!

Re: [JAWS-Users] posting a photo to Facebook

2015-06-08 Thread Kimsan Song
Using the m.facebook site I do the following:
1. In the search after pressing CTRL f I type photos and press enter.
(for the next step I suggest being at the bottom of the page)
2. Press shift f3, and you should land on photos so press spacebar/or
enter on the link.
3. Now CTRL f once more and type photo and press enter.
4. This will locate the first instance of the word photo on the new
screen. From memry you are looking for add a photo or upload a photo.
If none of those appear, press f3 to locate the next occurrence of the
word, u will find it, trust me.
5. Click that link, press b to place you on the browse button and
locate your photo.
The last step should be locating a done button, upload button this is
where I forgot.
I can't double check at the moment, as I am at work and facebook is
restricted, but twitter isn't, go figure. hahaha.
I would put a placemarker on the photos link from the first step,
because if you search for it, and keep pressing shift f3, you will go
through tons of occurrances of the word photo for example, kimsan has
uploaded a new photo, david has uploaded a new photo, mike has
uploaded a new photo, etc.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Question on Malwarebytes

2015-06-08 Thread TheHangMan
Hi,
The only way to view a scan is to copy it to the clipboard after you select
the .txt file, press enter there.
Then paste it somewhere.

Or save it to my documents folder,
I tab down to the desktop click, I up arrow once to my documents.
Then, I tab and view that it is going to my documents,
One tab and you should hear the first folder in my documents.

Then, I tab to the save button.

It seems that I'm doing it right, but is not saving to my documents to view.

You can play with the jaws currsors, but it is not going to save the
Malwarebytes report to your document folder.

Can anyone add some help?

Use the touch cursor. It works even In Windows 7. Press Shift and the PC

Use the enter key for the double-tap. If you want your PC cursor back, just

You can always open the results as a text file, then read the results from

Hi,
The only way to view a scan is to copy it to the clipboard after you select
the .txt file, press enter there.

If you hit Alt V, that will put you in JAWS Verbosity. You will need to arrow
down until you get to the punctuation options, and you can opt for none, some,
most or all. It could be that there is something else in those choices in JAWS
Verbosity that would solve your problem, but I don't know what that is.

One time I had some kind of smart tag or something and ended up calling Freedom

Re: [JAWS-Users] the get windows 10 prompt and C P U usage

2015-06-08 Thread John M.

David,
I would also recommend that you go into the Windows update settings and
uncheck the box that says give me recommended updates the same way that I
receive important updates. This will prevent KB3035583 from automatically
being installed. I am not pleased that Microsoft decided to push out this
marketing patch, with out the computer user being required to accept the
patch. I have had numerous calls from clients over the past week, in a panic
about the icon that has appeared in the system tray. All of them have
avoided Windows 8/8.1 and they were in a panic that they were being updated
to Windows 10. Everything has consequences and Microsoft did not think this
marketing move through. This little move is already tainting what might end
up being a really good OS.

To hide the KB3035583 update and prevent it from being reinstalled,
right-click on it in the

Windows Update application and select Hide update.
After, the update's selection box will be grayed out and cannot be
checked.

From hereon, the

update will be hidden whenever you reopen Windows Update unless you decide
to restore it.
Icon Still Won't Go Away?
There's also a registry hack that you can use to prevent the icon from
showing up.
Open up regedit.exe using the Start search or by hitting WIN + R and
pasting

it into the field.

Then browse down to the following key, creating it if it doesn't exist:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Gwx
Once you are there, create a new 32-bit DWORD value on the right-hand side
named DisableGwx, and

give it a value of 1.

Way back before 2004 or so it was very accessible, I used it from 1990 until
then and bought it because I accidently deleted about 100 files off a disk
before printing, Norton in 1990 at lease made me able to recover every fil
about 200 pages of printing. That was before Symantec took over the
program.

It is a function in Word, not Jaws causing this problem and I think it is

If you hit Alt V, that will put you in JAWS Verbosity. You will need to
arrow down until you get to the punctuation options, and you can opt for
none, some, most or all. It could be that there is something else in those
choices in JAWS Verbosity that would solve your problem, but I don't know
what that is.

One time I had some kind of smart tag or something and ended up calling
Freedom Scientific Customer Service. The woman I talked to was really smart,
got me right to what I had to do to make it stop doing that, and I believe
that it was in JAWS Verbosity. That was about ten years ago, so I don't

Hi List, I’m having a bit of a brain freeze, so I’m hoping that someone

 I’m using Word 2007 on a windows 7 computer with Jaws 16.

All of a sudden, Jaws is voicing things as: “New line” or “Paragraph mark”
and I have no idea what I did to cause this or how to stop it. My Jaws is
still set for intermediate and for “Some” punctuation.

When I went to the Jaws window and used Alt F and down arrowed to Voices,
I could not find anything for punctuation. Can anyone help?

 Many sincere thanks!
