Hi Kimberly,
Do you have JAWS Professional or Home Edition? It seems strange that I'm

Hi Jo,

After you're authorized, I believe you'll be switched to what you're

I am typing up the responses to surveys and then I copy and paste it into
the correct cell in Excel. The thing is that when I send it back, it is not
formatted correctly. If I type directly into the Excel, it comes back in the
correct format.
My Excel is touchy. Sometimes it lets me edit if I screw up and other times
it does not and I need to rewrite it all over again. I find it easier to
just type it in Word, but I need it to end up in the correct format.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using and sharing your OneDrive

2016-04-07 Thread Humberto Rodriguez
Hello Betty:

There is a software called Station Playlist Studio that is mostly accessible
out of the box and in addition, there are paid Jaws scriptsfor some
additional stuff. It seems to work well and I know many blind people who
use it, I also have in the past.

I believe their website is www.stationplaylist.com and they also have
Station Playlist Creator to automate the generation of playlists.

I no longer use either one, haven't for years, because although I run my
own radio station I prefer not to use live programs, I ask every presenter
to record their shows in MP3, upload it to the server using FTP or SFTP and
then use Auto DJ, in my case with Shoutcast 2, but could as easily be done
with Icecast, to stream it to the listeners 24/7.

I am totally blind and a long-time Jaws user, program for the web and prefer
to simplify things as much as possible. There is much more reliability when
the radio stream originates at the server instead of being transmitted from
your PC to the server and from there to the listeners. It is also a lot
more demanding on your time.

Regards,

Humberto

You're correct, that notation is listed but I can't find any scripts

misplacing them. I hope it is the first option because if it is not then
it's time to go out of business.

Sorry about that, I'll make the change to the main index file to correct

2016-04-07 Thread Kurt Miller
I am typing up the responses to surveys and then I copy and paste it into
the correct cell in Excel. The thing is that when I send it back, it is not
formatted correctly. If I type directly into the Excel, it comes back in the
correct format.
My Excel is touchy. Sometimes it lets me edit if I screw up and other times
it does not and I need to rewrite it all over again. I find it easier to
just type it in Word, but I need it to end up in the correct format.

No, it is the asinine feature that Freedom Scientific decided to push to
everybody that is on by default in the latest update to J17.
You can go into settings manager, Miscellaneous to turn it off.

Kind of reminds me of the blowback Apple got for pushing that U2 album to
everybody when they updated IOS 8.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Latest JAWS Update

2016-04-07 Thread David Moore

Hi Steven,
In the previous update of JAWS, Freedom Scientific added this feature to
JAWS. If a FS cast comes out, JAWS lets you know and sometimes starts
playing it. However, you can turn this off in settings center. Just open the
settings center with insert+6 on the numbers row, and make sure that you
press CTRL+SHIFT+D to get to the default. Then, tab to the tree view and
arrow almost to the bottom right above the settings you have made. Right
there, you will be able to turn this off and you will never have that happen
again. Over all, this is the best update to JAWS that we have enjoyed for a
long time. No more crashing. Smart navigation works better. Works great in
win10. Take care and God bless.

Hi guys

I like music and think of becoming a DJ.

My problem is that the well known application used by sighted guys is
screen reader inaccessible.

I am particularly talking about virtual DJ.

Does anyone know of this application and has ever used it with a screen reader?

I find it difficult to use with nvda and jaws.

Do you know of any application I can use that is doing nearly the same
thing as virtual DJ?

Come to my rescue.

Howdy,

Notify about new FSCasts ,this is a new feature in the latest J17.0.1539
release. You can disable it in the settings center Default All Applications.
You can search in the settings center Default All Applications by typing
FSCast or find it under, Miscellaneous, this is the miscellaneous that's
almost at the bottom, right above Last Changed Settings, it's 21 of 22,
if you wish not to be notified when there is a new FSCast. Simply uncheck
the box and select apply & okay in the settings center.

Take care.

[JAWS-Users] Jaws 17.0.1806, a users opinion

2016-04-07 Thread Jim
Good afternoon Jaws Users group.
Now that I have had a few days to play with the Jaws 17.0.1806 version.
1. I want to thank F S for fixing the problem with the mini crashes and
hesitation of Jaws that has plagued the Jaws 17 version since its release.
Now Jaws 17 seems very fluid in all programs and situations that I have tested
it with in Windows 10.
2. The smart navigation seems to work better for me also in this version of
Jaws 17.
For example: When using the smart navigation feature in the iTunes store, it
works great.
Yes, on occasion, when pressing the play or pause button, it will put you at
the end of the list of the column you are on.
But this is no big deal for me.
It does take a little time, to get used to viewing, the iTunes store with smart
navigation turned on.
3. I have had as many as 6 or 8 windows opened at the same time, with no
issues, from switching from one window or program to another with Jaws.
4. The settings area in w-10, works very well with the new Jaws update, all
buttons are read correctly.
However, under Update and security, on the windows update line of information,
I wish Jaws would read the status of my updates.
For example, Your computer is up to date, this is how it used to read but not
any more.
I hope Freedom Scientific will fix this small issue, in a future release of
Jaws, this is very important to the blind user, to know their update status of
there w-10 computer.
Also, there is a small issue, when copying a link while in Internet Explorer,
with the smart navigation turned on.
You, need to press the right arrow key twice to actually be at the beginning of
the link, then you can press, Control+Shift+right arrow keys to copy the link.
I am not sure that this method will work, I used Mike’s instructions to copy
links in IE, and they worked for me.
Again, I hope F S can fix this small issue in an upcoming version of Jaws 17.
Over all I give Freedom Scientific an A+, for this version of Jaws 17.
The mini crashes and hesitations of Jaws 17, were driving me crazy!
They are finally fixed!
Love God! with your heart, mind, and soul, that you might be blessed reaching
His goal.
Love your Neighbor as you would yourself, God will truly reward you with good
health.
Love God, your neighbor, as you love yourself, you will then be spiritually
balanced with wealth.
Love His Word that proceeds from His lips, then reflect on the heavens where
God sits.

You're correct, that notation is listed but I can't find any scripts
anywhere for end it all. So either one of two things happened. First I put
that there in error or never got around to posting the scripts prior to

it's time to go out of business.

Sorry about that, I'll make the change to the main index file to correct

Lol, it's 5 in the morning, and I have not slept yet. I use close all to do
what you are doing but it doesn't close jaws, just everything else.
Although, I don't remember, if I have to make sure jaws doesn't get shut

I have been toying with the new version of image for windows. Just to test I
attempted a recovery. I was informed that all other programs must be closed.

Trying to close everything I still missed something running in the
background.
I just installed end it all and ran it. It took out everything including
jaws and I was not able to restart jaws.
Whenever I unload jaws I have difficulty restarting it.
Restarted the computer and ran end it all.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Is the following a JAWS 17 issue or a windows 10 issue?

2016-04-07 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

The keyword here is "get". When it says get less details, you currently have
more details. If it says get more details, you currently have less details.
So when you change the setting, you will change to what it says. You could
verify this by using the JAWS cursor to see how much text was in the window
for each setting. This behavior is not unique to JAWS 17 or Windows 10.

Hi to all.
Anyone have the following problem when down loading a program or what ever, or
transvering a folder or file from one drive or folder to another or what ever?
I am seeing the following.
You would start the transfer and or down load and you would see the following
message Get less details checked.
So you would tap your spacebar to uncheck that and the get more details would
pop up which is what you want but it tells you that the get more details is’'
not actually checked.
So to get the get more details to be checked to get more details you tap your
spacebar.
But when you do tap your spacebar thinking that you’ll check the get more
details the get less details pops up and it states that it is checked once
again.
So which is giving you the accurate info.
Are you getting the more details when you have the less details checked or are
you getting the more details when the get more details is checked like it
should be checked?
See my issue that I’m having?
Many Many thanks.

He says he'll pass the issue along to development and let me know when
they resolve it.

I'm impressed with how quickly FS jumped on this problem and will keep
the list posted on what happens.

As a side note, the only change I regularly make in my attachmate
configurations is unchecking the box to use the extended insert as a
jaws key since I need it to function as an insert key.

Hi. Before pressing shift-control-f, or control-d (both do the same thing),
you need to select the text whose font you want to change. It's easiest
when you wish to do this for the entire document: control-a. Otherwise, use
the usual selection suspects, such as shift-control-paragraph for a
paragraph, etc.

Once text is selected, press either shift-control-f or control-d to enter
the font dialog.

You land right away on a list of fonts. This list is navigable by first
letter. Press the first letter or two of the desired font to go right to or
close to the one you want.

If all you want to do is change the font, just press enter here to exit the
document and save your change.

If you also want to change font size, keep focus at the desire font, then
tab twice. Once again you land in a list. Arrow down to the size you want.

Here again, if you want only to save the font and size changes, press enter
to exit the dialog and save your changes.

Color is a little more complicated, so please post again if you also want
to make that change. Line spacing is done in a different dialog, which can
also be explained.

Hi Everyone,

I am using Windows 7, Word 2010, and JAWS 13, on a laptop. I have an
existing five page document in Word that I would like to change it to a
different font style♣. I have placed the cursor at the beginning of the
existing document and than I press control, shift and the letter F, to take
me to the list of different fonts styles. Once I find the desired font, I
press Enter and it takes me to the beginning of my document. However, it
does not change the font in my existing document.

If I follow the above procedure in a blank Word document, the new font will
appear when I type something new. Am I doing something wrong, or fonts can
not be changed in existing documents?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Delete key question under jaws 17

2016-04-07 Thread Bissett, Tom
Hi, I use a different emulator PCom. I never noticed that it did not announce
the character being deleted or read the next character gaining focus.
Emulators are a odd thing in that they have such limited functionality. When
FS says it can be application specific it could be that out of the box it may
not behave in the default manner.
Did you bring forward any scripts or configuration files that you were using on
the previous versions of jaws?
I will take a look to see whether I can get this to work.
Regards
Tom Bisset

Adrian,

I hadn't thought of that, but when I just tried it, the documentation reports
that jaws should delete the character at the cursor then read the next
character gaining focus. It doesn't do that. The documentation also says
something about the functionality being controlled by the application which I
don't understand.

I guess I will make a report to FS. So annoying!

So, you got it to work and not close jaws, if I'm understanding you?
Lol, it's 5 in the morning, and I have not slept yet. I use close all to do
what you are doing but it doesn't close jaws, just everything else.
Although, I don't remember, if I have to make sure jaws doesn't get shut
down, then again, my lenovo laptop is fairly new and I don't remember seeing
any option to not close jaws when setting up close all.
I'm going to sleep now, take care.

Went down through the list of programs and entered the space bar on jaws
which protected it.
entered the end button. In the task bar only my network and speakers now
show.
Started image for windows and was able to get to the point where I would
select the backup that I wanted to use. I stopped at that point. I am sure
that it will all work fine from this point on. This is on my windows 7
machine with the latest jaws.

2016-04-07 Thread Adrian Spratt
Kimber, have you used the keyboard manager (JAWS key+8 on the number row above
the letters) to stop this key from verbalizing "Delete"? I realize that's only
half the problem, even less than half. But, even though it seems unlikely, I
wonder if JAWS would verbalize the deleted character once told not to say
"Delete" every time. Otherwise, it sounds like an issue to bring to FS's
attention. I think I've noticed a new and unhelpful verbalization behavior with
backspace deletion, but I haven't focused enough on it to be sure.

[JAWS-Users] mp3gain

2016-04-07 Thread Lenny McHugh
Well, mp3gain did a fantastic job. I tried to process a folder when the read
only warning popped up. Going through the list of the mp3 files there was
only one set to protected mode. Cleared that one and it ran ok. Last evening
we took the thumb drive and played through the car radio. The two songs that
you could hardly hear were brought up and the one that kind of blew out your
ears is much lower.. That one is a tad louder but quite acceptable.

prior to end it all
If It did not work system restore would be able to clean my computer. I

End it all is still posted on the program’s page. The read me states that it
is for:
PLATFORMS:
Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0
Does it still work in win 7 and win 10?
