[JAWS-Users] Will be unsubscribing sonn, getting a mac.

2013-09-18 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
Just letting you all know I'll be unsubscribing in the next month or so.
The reason for this, is I'm very unimpressed with the new jaws 15 so called
features. I feel they are just enhancements, to what is already there, and not
new features at all. I feel there is false advertising going on here, and we
shouldn't have to pay for enhancements. The mac's screen reader is built in and
you don't have to pay any extra for it. You save money in the long run not
having to pay for accessibility and updates to it. Join the out of the box
accessibility revolution!!!
Also, windows is more prone to viruses and if you have an iphone, the mac works
better with it anyway.
So bye, thanks to everyone who has helped me over the years, when i've had jaws
issues, hope you all have a blessed day
God bless,
Andrew.

Andrew,
I have been having ongoing problems getting Jaws even the update issued
today to read HTML formatted emails in Outlook 2007. When I first open
Outlook 2007 Jaws reads the emails properly and the quick navigation keys
such as h for headings and t for tables work fine. However after Outlook
has been open for a while (it varies from 2-5 minutes) Jaws will not read
the emails properly in html format and the quick navigation keys don't work.
For example when I hit the h key instead of going to a heading the letter h
will appear in the body of the email. Also the pc cursor reports pc cursor
rather than virtual pc cursor when I press that key.

I have checked my version of Outlook 2007 and it is up to date with all
patches and have run the diagnostic in Outlook 2007 and everything reports
as fine. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Jaws 14 several times without
any impact on this problem.

I have had several tech support sessions with John Carson at Freedom
Scientific and they cannot duplicate the problem on Freedom Scientific's
computers. He has asked me to check with other Jaws users to see if they
have experienced these problems and if so what is the configurations of
their computers. If you have had this problem can you tell me how you
solved it or if it is still ongoing can you email me the configurations of
the computer having the problem and I will forward it to John at FS. tech
support.

Did you checked confignames.ini? Are entries concerning to Outlook separated
by version?

In my confignames.ini are the following entries:
outlook=Microsoft Outlook 2007
outlook:14=Microsoft Outlook 2010

If the entries are not versionsafe, then could load JAWS wrong script.

As you can imagine, this creates nasty problems with reading and navigating

[JAWS-Users] problems with outlook 2010 and jaws

2013-02-20 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
For the passed week, when ever I've been going through email, jaws is too
verbose. I think It may be something to do with the most recent jaws update,
but I'm not sure.
For example, jaws will say things like:
Message unread, attachment yes, subject ... flagged status unflagged
When It normally says:
Unread then speaks who the message is from and the subject, without actually
saying the subject:
Example:
Unread: message unread, attachment yes, from phil swain, subject weekly
update, flagged status unflagged
When it should normally say:
Unread attachment Phil swain weekly update
Anyone know what's going on and how to fix it?

Also, somehow html messages have gone back to being displayed as tables when
I know jaws put in a feature that turns html messages from tables into
webpages. If anyone knows how to fix this too, I would really appreciate any
feedback.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi,

Kim Komando just wrote about this fairly cool application call FTalk. Works
on XP, Vista, and Windows 7.

fTalk is a desktop messaging application that works with Facebook. Just
install it and sign in using your Facebook account information.

You'll immediately see all your online and offline friends. You can chat
without opening up your browser. It works like a regular instant messaging
program. However, you can do Facebook-specific things at the same time, like
updating your status.

http://www.ftalk.com/

No idea of how accessible it is. so if anyone tries it, please let me know.
I would try it but do not have a face book account.

Rich

Hope this has helped 1 of you social networking people! Take care.

Hi, Glad I could help.

For information I use jaws 12, goldwave 5.58. and the scripts are version
1.60. I think that there are some script versions that don't work well with
some goldwave versions.

First, you need to install the scripts if they are not installed yet. you
can get them from
http://blind-geek-zone.net/Data/goldwave_5.57_jaws_scripts_1.60.zip

First, you have to open an audio file in goldwave and then explore all the
script options. Insert+h is very helpful command.

Unfortunately here shift+numbers don't speak at all. But you can look in the
view menu what part is shown on the window or even easier just press
alt+shift+z and you will hear the zoom level.

Goldwave has playback cursor and selection markers. There are two selection
markers - to set the start and end point of the selection. Start point is
set by pressing [ (left bracket) and the end point is set by pressing ]
(right bracket). To understand how the software works you can read the help
documentation by pressing f1 in goldwave or to listen to some tutorials
created by Rick Harmon here http://blind-geek-zone.net/audio.htm

When you open the site, just search for goldwave or use h to go through
the headings.

 Hey, Negoslav
I think this is cool, but could you explain to me what selection keys
 mean, and when I press shift 1 through 0 it just says !, @, #, $?
Thanks for helping me to understand all of this.
 Patti

Here is what insert+h in goldwave told me as an answer. I paste it here
because I believe it will help you understand the zoom better. The
commands you used as an example control the zoom level.

To zoom to see the actual waveform, Press Shift+1.
Note: in ratio, this level is presented as 1:1.
To zoom one second of audio, press Shift+2.
To zoom ten seconds of audio, press Shift+3.
To zoom one minute of audio, press Shift+4.
To zoom ten minutes of audio, Press Shift+5.
To zoom one hour of audio, press Shift+6.
To zoom out the entire sound file, press Shift+A.
To zoom to the level where individual samples can be seen and edited,
 Press Shift+0.
To zoom in or out to a preset level, Press Shift+U.
To zoom to the recent previous value, press Shift+P.
To zoom to a specified level, Press Shift+S to open the dialog, and
type-in the value, when you press enter to close the dialog, the new
 level is automaticly
 anounced.

Finding certains parts of a sound file is done through keyboard
navigation, which involves playing the file and moving the playback
 cursor
until the area if interest is located.
The view and zoom level control how much audio is displayed on the screen
(or page). By default, GoldWave displays the entire file.
Use the View Menu Commands to change the amount of audio displayed. This
also changes the amount the playback cursor and selection markers are
 moved with
each keystroke. The cursor is moved one tenth of the screen size.
Selection markers are moved one hundredth of the screen size. Using
 View | 10 Seconds
displays 10 seconds of audio in the view. The Page Up or Page Down key
moves the cursor 10 seconds backward or forward. The Left or Right
key moves the cursor 1 second backward or forward. The selection keys
move the start or finish marker a tenth of second (0.1). Using View | 1
 Second
displays 1 second of audio. At that level, the page, arrow, and selection
keys move 1 second, one tenth of a second, and one hundredth of a second
 respectively.

hello,

1. navigate to the starting possition of the audio file that you
want to edit. this can be done one of several ways. you can use F4
or space bar to play right from the beginning. but that would take much

time.

try left and right arrows. that should take you to the closest

2. when you get the exact starting position, hit F7 to pauce and
press left bracket to insert the start marker.
3. press F7 again to resume playback and press F7 again to pauce
when you reach the exact ending position and press right bracket to
insert finish marker. this will enclose the audio that you want to

Hi.

The Jaws installation gives the opportunity to import personalized
settings

from an older version, so you have all the things you have configured for
your own use.
If you say yes to import this personalized settings, you will have it as
you

had in the older version, if you say no, you will get a clean installation
of the new version of Jaws, and can begin to configure it from scratch.

Hi Susie;

Below is an explanation of on mouse over that was posted by a fellow
list member awhile back.

From:
Donald Marang

It means that there is an element on the web page labeled, Reply all,
that
will perform an action when the user hovers the mouse over that element.
JAWS does not attempt to evaluate the action the designer assigned to be
performed. This is usually just some animation or effects, written in
JavaScript, that are useless to us. Other times it will pop up with
additional text, like a definition, like a Tool Tip balloon in an
application. And to make things confusing for us, sometimes the
JavaScript
code will go to another page.

To have this action performed, JAWS can let you access this information
by

pressing Control + Insert + Enter. I am not sure how this is different
from
forcing the mouse (JAWS cursor) over the element by Routing the JAWS
cursor
to the PC cursor (perhaps it is the virtual cursor at this point?) with
Insert + numPad Minus (-). I am glad that JAWS now allows me to know
that

there is some code here that may provide hidden information.

Note that this action is different than what happens when the user clicks
on
that element, or in our case pressing Enter. On some elements, you might
have to try all possible keystrokes to get it to do what you want. Keep
in
mind web designers like to get creative and put in extra, non-standard
stuff.

If you want to look up weather, do the following:

INSERT + Space Bar, then press the letter R. You will be in an edit
field. Here you can type in your city, state. You can also enter a zip
code, airport code, or City Country. Once you press enter, you will land
in the list of Research it options. Choose the Weather and press enter.
You should get the weather back for all of these.

Hope this helps,

in case someone else has experienced this and may be able to help me
out. I saw in the latest update to jaws 11 the weather thing is there. I
tried to look at it, but I got a strange message:
weather underground searched for jaws and got no results.
I was focused on the jaws window before I pressed insert f2 to select
the research it option from the manager.
I went back to the desktop and found my documents was selected. I tried
looking at the top news stories this time, however, I got this message:
reuters news stories searched for my and got no results.
Is this happening because I still have the wiktionary as my default item
to research in?
also, when ever I try going to wikipedia via research it, I land on a

[JAWS-Users] suggestions for improving jaws 11 features

2009-09-12 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
I wanted to give feedback and and make suggestions to freedom scientific about
improving the research it feature in jaws 11. I heard in the podcast they were
thinking of introducing a feature where we could look up the weather for our
local city in anywhere in the world. I had the ideafor the top news stories
feature. If freedomscientific are able to make the weather feature work, I was
thinking why not have something where those of outside America say those of us
in the UK and Australia, could look up the top news stories in those respective
countries. I was going to write that in the bug report form, but since it
wasn't really a bug I was reporting, I didn't think it was appropriate to put
it there. so, where can I send my feedback and suggestion?

[JAWS-Users] selecting items in a list

2009-07-20 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
I'm just wondering about a keystroke. I think I heard something where say you
were selecting items in a list and you didn't want all the items, could say
select items 1 to 5 and then go down the list and select and add item 11 to
what was already selected?
I think the keystroke may have been appending something to the clipboard.

[JAWS-Users] popping sounds in eloquence

2009-06-21 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
Until recently I had my voice rate of eloquence set at 50 percent. However, I
plan to slowly speed it up so I can eventually understand it at 100 percent.
However, one little thing, I had it at 80, but decided for now that was too
fast and slowed it down to 75. but at both speeds I hear more popping sounds as
eloquence reads things. is this just how things are something I'll have to get
used too?

Hi Andrew
Personally I recommend ExpressBurn plus. It works out of the box with Jaws
9 and 10. No problems selecting files and it burns Audio CD, Data CD and
DVD and depending on which version also blue-ray.

The version I bought for approx $50 (cad) is:
Express Burn v 4.05 from NCH Swift Sound. It can be downloaded and run
with full functionality for a limited time.

[JAWS-Users] JetBee cd and dvd burner

Hi all,
I recently downloaded a program known as JetBee which is a free cd and dvd

If anyone has used this program, how do you choose between a data or audio cd?
or does anyone know of tutorials on this program?

Sure. MSAA stands for Microsoft Active Accessibility, and is a form of

Hi Mostafa,
I would imagine there wouldn't be any disadvantages in using lots of
scripts because scripts are designed to make programs or parts of
programs more accessible. Unfortunately, even programs like word and
outlook need scripts. freedomscientific build them into jaws so we can
use those programs without any problems.
I use skype, and with no scripts, it is quite useable. However, I have
the skype scripts. if you don't have these, the skype scripts make the
options menu more accessible. Skype is useable without scripts because of
something called MSAA support. I don't know what that stands for. if
someone knows, maybe you could tell us?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS for Downloading Ripping

2008-10-15 Thread Andrew Head

No! you don't need j-say for itunes.
j-say is a program that links jaws and dragon naturally speaking together so
you can control your computer via voice. it works very effectively in word,
outlook and internet explorer.
if you want to use itunes, the latest version is more accessible than other
versions. the program that makes itunes even more accessible is j-tunes.

go to:
www.tandt-consultancy.com
here you can read all about the benefits of using j-tunes with itunes and
what extra functionality you can use with itunes if you have j-tunes.

hope this helps,

work well with Jaws.

Subject: [JAWS-Users] Using JAWS for Downloading Ripping

Hi; I am not a particularly ambitious computer user.I use mine to keep in
touch with friends, contribute to a couple of forums and run my small
business.

I have a laptop with Jaws 5, Windows XP home and IE6. There are a couple of
things I would like to be able to do and wonder what is the best software
for me to use whilst keeping my current versions of Jaws, XP and IE.

I want to download music tracks.both oldies and up to date.

I want to be able to rip songs from CD to MP3.I have a Pro Dub licence so I
can do this legally!

There's prob more later but for now if anyone knows of easy to use
programmes for me that would be fantastic.

Cheers in anticipation

Andy

Re: [JAWS-Users] jaws and office 2007

2008-10-08 Thread Andrew Head

Hi alex,
I too had the same problem. As I wrote on the list a few months ago, I had a
new laptop with vista home premium and office 2007. I decided I didn't want
to learn to use the ribbon bar yet, but I suppose I will have too some day.
for now, I've gonne back to xp proffessional and office 2003, and I will be
staying with that combination as long as I can.
If you want to down grade, I am not sure how you would go about doing that,
because a friend of mine very kindly fixed things for me.

good luck,
from Andrew.

I have been using Office 2007 since April and I still find the interface
very frustrating. I know what I want to do, but I am not quite sure how to
get there! I find myself checking the options available in the
applications context menu for an easier way to perform the task. If you
remember any keystrokes to bring up a dialog in previous versions, like
Control 1 to format cells in Excel, it should still work. My daughter says
that the new interface is pretty, easier, faster, and loves it! They
introduced the multilevel ribbon concept. Freedom Scientific provides a
fairly good explanation in DAISY training material on their site and
through the check for updates feature.

Re: [JAWS-Users] *(JAWS ISSUES)*

2008-10-07 Thread Andrew Head

Hi Mostafa,
I have noticed that jaws will not always tell you when forms mode is active
via speech and personally find the sound indicator a big help.
you can turn it off by doing the following as I described to you in a
previous email:

1. open internet explorer
2. press insert V for the adjust jaws options dialogue box
3. press F until you get to forms options
4. arrow down until you hear jaws say: use sound on.
5. press space to turn it off
6. press escape to close the dialogue box and your changes to settings are
saved.

Hi Andrew.

In Jaws Configuration manager under Set Options and Text processing

Emne: [JAWS-Users] jaws language problem in certain applications

Hi all,
When I use dvd audio extractor, when ever I press a key on the keyboard,
jaws, instead of speaking in british english which I have as my prefered
voice, speaks in american english. This change to american english only
happens when I press a key on the keyboard and only in dvd audio
extractor.
How do I change it so it speaks in british english when Ipress keys on
the

keyboard in this program?
hope this makes sense.if not, let me know and I'll tell my problem
better.

Re: [JAWS-Users] J SAY

2008-10-05 Thread Andrew Head

Hi Mostafa,
J-say is software that allows jaws and dragon naturally speaking to work
together. If you have these 3 products, you will be able to control
microsoft word, outlook and internet explorer completely by voice!
even when you aren't in these programs, you can navigate to them and move
around your computer just by talking to it.

in the UK, the cost is 525 pounds, and in australia it is $995
if you want to hear demonstrations of j-say go to:
www.acbradio.org
look for the on demand link and press enter
then look for the main menu and main menu live link and press enter
then press H to move to the 2007 heading
then look for the 29 feburary link
press enter on it and the audio will start playing.
the software you talked about that provides access to the 2007 outlook
calendar is known as j-tools.

these can also be purchased from t and t consultancy
hope this helps,

hello listers:
i've been downloaded JAWS10.0 i've no problem right now.
but just small question about new auto forms mode:
when it's turn on or off, i heard that tiny sound wich actually i don't
like.

i see that i don't need it because i've a good notifyer: when JAWS
says: eddit, eddit that's mean your curser landed in the text area
for writing such as microsoftword , compose email, etc: or eddit for
only reading such as dazy books wich created by freedomscientific
it's located under helpsub menu in the training section.
by the way:
could i' disable that sound?
please assist me.

Re: [JAWS-Users] new features request for Jaws

2008-09-25 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Devona,
No, j-tunes does not come with jaws.
J-tunes is a program that allows jaws to access itunes and speak what is on
the itunes screen. It works very well. You will need to pay for it though,
but in my opinion, it is worth the money.
for more information about j-tunes, pricing and so on,

Re: [JAWS-Users] making a document read only

2008-09-25 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Devona,
if you make a document a read only file, it means you can only read it and
any changes you make will not be saved.
as I was told earlier on the list, to make the document read only or to not
make it read only, highlight the file, press alt enter to bring up the
properties and uncheck the box that asks if you want to make the file read
only. and check it if you want to make it read only.
thanks to everyone who answered my question earlier.

[JAWS-Users] deleting voice profiles in jaws 10 beta

2008-09-24 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
I'm just wondering how do you delete a voice profile in jaws 10 beta? I know
after you have created a voice profile, you are placed in the list of
profiles and as you tab to the ok button there is a delete profile button.
When I come back to this dialogue box later, I can't find the delete button
anymore so am wondering how to delete voice profiles?

Total Recorder from www.highcriteria.com is very accessible, with no
scripts. Please note it's shareware though, and the demo inserts a sound
every minute or so in each recording you make. Hope this helps.

Re: [JAWS-Users] ITunes8 podcast featuring JAWS, JTunes, and Window-Eyes.

2008-09-22 Thread Andrew Head
correction, I haven't listened to all of it yet, am about half way through,
but Brian Hartgen, the person demonstrating itunes 8, first demonstrates it
with window-eyes, then jaws, then moves to demonstrate j-tunes. He does a
very thorough job, making sure to demonstrate the same tasks with both
screen readers and j-tunes. You get to see what window-eyes can do, and you
also get to see what you can do with jaws, both with and without j-tunes.
I am very impressed with the support in itunes 8

I would humbly suggest however that this podcast is produced by the makers

 Hi,

Those interested in the new ITunes 8 being demonstrated with JAWS (with
 and
without JTunes), or with another screen reader (Window-Eyes) can download
 or

 listen to a podcast from

 http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/tandt/~5/398221609/01-itunes.mp3

It also addresses the question of whether JAWS users will need JTunes or
not. The podcast is just over one hour in length. Enjoy.

As it happens, ITunes8 is also quite accessible to JAWS9 (without the
 need
for extra pay-for scripts such as JTunes). It also works quite well as
 is
 in JAWS10 beta.

[JAWS-Users] using realSpeak voices in jaws 10 beta

2008-09-09 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
I am using jaws 10 with realspeak. I am using Karen at the moment, and am
finding the current rate of 50% is fine for me to understand, but there is
a long pause between sentences. I know 1 gig of ram is recommended to run
realSpeak properly. My current computer has 504 MB of ram. could this be the
problem?
I briefly tried out lee, and found he was quicker to respond between
sentences, but at the moment have been using karen more than lee because I
only used Lee to set up his voice profile.
any help is appreciated,
from Andrew

I was just reading about what's new in jaws 10. I noticed it said on
 the

 and
 replaced with change voice profiles.
I may have misunderstood, but do we still have the option to change
 the
 language?
I have the same question about the keystroke ctrl insert S. This
 keystroke
brings up a list of synthesizers we can switch too quickly. It said in
 the
whats new jaws 10 features this keystroke was assigned to something to
 do
 with voice profiles.
so what do we now do to change synthesizers quickly?
If I have misunderstood, please someone correct and explain.

If you are speaking of languages in the speech engine, then look in the
voices section under basics and you'll find it's there. Many of the parts
of the jaws interface are changing each version.

I was just reading about what's new in jaws 10. I noticed it said on
 the
site the change synthesizer and othe language options hav been removed
 and
 replaced with change voice profiles.
 God bless,
 from Andrew

 Hi,

I believe you can add a voice profile with a different synth, but I don't
like it. I wish they would've kept those options... and no, sadly, you
 can't
change languages like you used to.
IMO JAWS is really going down the toilet, but again just IMO.

 Thanks and HTH.

I know many of you are expert using Winamp and Jaws and certainly I am not.

Just been to the Winamp site looking to get a copy for this computer.
Seems the most recent version is 5.41 but I am confused about what to
 download.

The one it seemed to want to give me is Winamp Remote. Is this correct?
The other possibility seemed to be Winamp Pro. What would I need Winamp
 Pro for?

Finally, I have a bunch of stuff my son recorded from our CD collection on
another computer using his ITunes software in .m4a format. Will Winamp
 play it?

I have been around some of the links on the site but they take you through
a forest of pop-ups the control of which I still haven't satisfactorily
gained with this new Internet Explorer.

 Thanks.

For some reason, at least on my computer, jaws no longer reads the number

[JAWS-Users] vista or xp, my final decision

2008-08-22 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
A few weeks ago, I emailed the list and said I had a new laptop and asked
people to tell me their experiences with vista and office 2007. I have
decided for the moment to stay with xp and office 2003. A friend was kind
enough to fix everything so xp and office 2003 work properly on the new
laptop. I haven't had a chance to get it out and use it yet because of
school, but will try it out this weekend. Now all I need is my own copy of
jaws, because I am using a copy the school bought for me to use and I have
to give it back to them at the end of this year.
Thanks again to everyone who answered my earlier questions about vista and
office 2007.
have a good day and God bless,

Re: [JAWS-Users] extracting audio from a dvd to mp3

2008-08-18 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Stewart,
A program called DVD audio extractor will do what you want. You can save the
files as mp3, ogg, flack and wav and even have an option to save the audio
as one huge file or in separate chapters.
You can download a 30 day trial. After the trial has expired, you wil have
to pay for it if you want to keep using it.
to get the free trial,
go to:
www.castudio.org/dvdaudioextractor/

Good luck,

Re: [JAWS-Users] Best messenger programs

2008-08-14 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Josh,
I personally use windows live messenger. However, I know a few people who
use messenger plus. I would recommend either of these programs. An advantage
with messenger plus is you can get sound ammoticons instead of images only.
One disadvantage I know of is it won't read out personal messages, although
I have found long personal messages can be annoying when arrowing through a
list of contacts to check their status.
another advantage with messenger plus is you can set it up so a different
sound will play for each individual contact when they come online and go
offline, and perhaps this may also work when their status changes, not sure
on that last one though.
and while we are on the subject, here is more on my problem. I am using
windows live messenger 8. Someone tried to help me install messenger plus
version 3, but it was not compatable with live messenger 8.

Is there a version of messenger plus that is compatible with live messenger
8 and if so, can someone provide me with a direct download link so I can get
it please?

Re: [JAWS-Users] Best messenger programs

2008-08-14 Thread Andrew Head
what, that's strange. what version are you using? did you recently update
from a previous version. Personally, with programs like that produced by
sighted people, if everything works correctly and the way I want it in a
current version, I don't update just in case something doesn't read or work
anymore the way it did in the previous version.
However, if I am told of significant bug fixes or something that will help
me use it, then I will update.
with adaptive technology however, I update every chance I can for obvious
reasons some of which are because it is produced with blind people in mind,
and usually with significant improvements which will make using it in
conjunction with other programs or just on its own will be a much better
experience. examples are jaws and the victor reader stream firmware.
Good luck with solving your problem, I hope everything works for you soon.

Ya, Windows Live messenger's cool, but it won't read messages
 automatically
for me anymore, even with the option in verbosity turned on!

Re: [JAWS-Users] How do you find out what size a file or folder isusing jaws 9

2008-08-14 Thread Andrew Head
Hi Scott,
1. Use your arrow keys until you are focused on that file or folder.
2. press alt F to get to the file menu.
3. press R for properties. the properties window opens automatically.
4. switch to the jaws cursor. I'm sorry, I only know the laptop command for
this. to switch to the jaws cursor on a laptop, if you have laptop layout
active, press capslock and P or capslock and the left bracket.
5. press ctrl home to get to the top of the information list and read
through until you hear the size and all the information you want.
6. using laptop layout, switch back to the PC cursor by pressing capslock
and semi colon.
7. press alt f4 to close the properties window.
8. you are now back to your list of files or folders.
hope this helps,
from Andrew.

Is there a keystroke that brings up a list of braille displays to choose

Insert control s brings up a dialog that allows you to choose what
synthesizer you wish to use. One of these options is no speech.

Hi Alex, if I used this command insert plus control s, does this
automaticallly turn jaws talking off so a sighted can work on my computer
and when I reboot jaws speech will return. Thank you for any help.

Because, if you do it with insert+ctrl+s the speech comes back next time
 you
 restart jaws.

[JAWS-Users] installing real speak

2008-08-12 Thread Andrew Head
Hi all,
Owing to certain circumstances, I used jaws 8 for a while, but did not
install the real speak voices that came with it. I then recieved my jaws 9
SMA upgrade. However, this was one CD, not two. Because my school has the
CDs, I downloaded the upgrade from the internet. Thus, I haven't had a
chance to explore the jaws 9 SMA upgrade CD yet. What I want to know is, if
that CD doesn't have real speak on it, Can I install the real speak voices
that came with jaws 8?
thanks in advance for any help,
from Andrew
