Hi Vicky, I will tell you how to get started with VLC Media Player. I have used it for some time, and love it. First of all, after it is installed, you should make VLC your default player. If you are using win10, press Windows +I and press enter on system and go down to default programs and press enter. tab to your audio player and press the space bar and press the space bar on VLC after you have tabbed to it. Do the same with your default video player. VLC will play any audio or Video file you can imagine. Now, just press enter on a media file in your collection, and it will open in VLC. Here are some key commands to get started. Holding down the shift and tapping the right or left arrows, will fast forward or rewind a small bit. If you hold down the CTRL and tap the right or left arrow keys, it will fast forward or rewind by a bigger margin. Holding down the CTRL and pressing the up or down arrow keys will increase or decrease the volume. If you use JAWS, you will have to press Insert+3 on the numbers row first to pass this key through to VLC. Next, I strongly encourage you to go through the first three menu options and keep track of all key commands you hear. You will be able to control the player a lot through the first three menus. To get to the menus, just press the alt key. you will love it, and it can even play DVDs and Blu ray DVDS. Re: [JAWS-Users] JAWS script install
Hi mike, I was able to install Jaws scripts for Gold Wave successfully this morning using this program & following Cuong's earlier posts' despite that fact that i am a beginner in the field of scripting. i also created a shortcut of the program in the sent to sub-menu. the program is simple to use however an audio podcast would be nice. A thing of beauty is a joy for ever: Its loveliness increases; it will never pass into nothingness; but still will keep a bower quiet for us, and a sleep full of sweet dreams, and health, and quiet breathing.. John Keats On 4/22/2016 4:49 AM, Mike B wrote: Hi David, From reading Cuong's earlier posts' I was under the impression that this program was supposed to make it easier for someone that doesn't know how to install scripts to install them, but after reading his steps from earlier this morning, it sounds like this program will be harder to understand how it works & use by the people it's supposedly made for, than learning where to put scripts manually. Here's the earlier post: Hi This is a short instruction I shared at other forum I've developed an application named Jaws Script Install using 7 zip, autoit and the Layout by code written by Jamal Mazrui. People who are interesting can download at http://tinyurl.com/h5ooggn This helps people especially beginner of Jaws install any script from a zip file. This program does the job very quicly. I recommend you to create a folder, copy the programs into it then run because it will extract some required files at the first time running. Now, just choose a zip file, and some options such as install for current user or All user, Backup before replace, overwrite file if exists, recompile script... then press the Install button. Program will close when completing the installation. If chehck the backup before replace options, a zip filename backup.zip will be created parallel the program executable file. This program can also work quicker and easier by adding shortcut itself toSend to context menu. Just activate the create send to menufor that job. A message box will tel you that you did it successfully. From now on, just press the application key at a zip file you want, choose send to sub menu, and choose Jaws Script install. Program will start with the selected zip file added to Zip file field. Just choose other options you'd like, and press the Install button. whenever you want to remove it from send to menu, press the Remove send tomenu button. This program works very friendly with Jaws. I added some alert message when it backup existing script, recompile etc. This make you monitor the progress easily. I do this just because I'm self learning autoit, and some of my feature has folowed by the Jaws Script Exchange written by Jamal afiew years ago. This version have alot of things need to be fixed, such as code structure, even the English text in it interface, so I'd love to recieve featbacks, or feature request, in order to make it works better. When I release it, I'll give a documentation. For the technical info, I develop this program using autoit script, including layout by code library for creating it interface, SendTo library for adding and removing send to menu shortcut, 7-zip for extracting and backing up scripts before replacing. Hope this useful Cuong I know that I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I think that for someone that doesn't know how or where to install Jaws scripts, trying to follow the above steps, let alone run the installer would confuse them. Personally I don't know if he's explaining how the script installer works or, if these are steps someone is supposed to follow. Just my 2 cents worth. Take care. Hi, sorry, I beg to defer your opinion. Ade is a Jaws-Friendly software. I usually use it to read my books. However, I don’t know what the cause of this particular problem is On 7/20/2015 1:26 AM, Flor Lynch wrote: As far as I know, JAWS has never worked with Adobe Digital Editions (software). I installed Adobe Digital Editions version 4.0.3.0. It seems that JAWS doesn't see the content of the screen. I can open the sample ebook, Getting started with Adobe Digital Editions 4.0, but there is nothing on the screen that JAWS can see. The only chance to read something wit the JAWS cursor is to use OCR (Insert+Space o w). I can tab through various buttons and my speech synthesizer speaks the button texts. They are also visible on my Braille display. But JAWS 15 (or 16 as well) doesn't see the book content. Insert+F says No font everywhere, even in the Item info box (Ctrl+I). A sighted person said that everything on the screen seems to bee OK. NVDA seems to work quite well with ADE, so the problem has something to do with JAWS, perhaps with its video intercept. I have reinstalled video intercept. I also tried Adobe Digital Editions version 3. But the problem is the same. I have changed Windows themes and screen resolution — JAWS behaves always in the same way. I have Windows 7 32 bit, JAWS 15.0.12085 and a demo version of JAWS 16 with latest updates. My display adapter is Intel G41 Express Chipset (WDDM). Any ideas? [JAWS-Users] Re: Need recommendations for Jaws-Friendly backup programs
Hi, thanks for the information. As I noted earlier, I am looking for a backup program which can create the backup of individual files and folders. As far as I know Image for Windows cannot create backup of files and folders except Hard disk partition or entire Hard disk On 5/9/2015 12:23 AM, Mike O'Brien wrote: Hi The program TBIView, which is part of the Image for Windows package, will show you all of the folders and files that are in the backup file. You can open TBIView from the Terabyte Unlimited/TBIView menu in the start menu, or just press enter on the backup file itself. Once TBIView starts, you will be on a screen that has two panes, left and right. You will be in the left pane. You move between the panes with tab and shift+tab. Press right arrow and it will say closed. This means that you are on the root folder. If you tab to the right pane, you will hear list view and you will see all of the files and folders that are in the root folder. Shift+tab back to the left pane you will hear tree view and press right arrow and you will hear open. Now the left pane shows all of the folders that are in the root folder. You can arrow down through the top level folders or use first letter navigation to find the top level folder you want. If the folder you're on has sub-folders, press right arrow to show the list of sub-folders in the tree view. As you move through the tree view of folders, the right pane will show the files and folders that are in the folder you are in in the tree view. Once you have found the file or folder you want to restore, press control+c to copy it to the clipboard. Now navigate to where you want to restore it to and press control+v to paste it there. I have not found any way to do a search for a specific file or folder in TBIView. You have to know where it is and navigate to it. -Original Message- From: JAWS-Users-List [mailto:jaws-users-list-boun...@jaws-users.com] On Behalf Of sachin Sent: Friday, May 08, 2015 09:54 To: jaws-users-list@jaws-users.com Subject: [JAWS-Users] Need recommendations for Jaws-Friendly backup programs Hi list members, is there any Jaws-Friendly backup program except Image for Windows.I failed to create backup of individual files and folders using Image for Windows. From: Carlos I believe by default they are saved in the folder \Users\UserName\Videos The steps below are general usage instructions I wrote for Freemake Video Downloader. Since I'm feeling too lazy to extract the relevant text, read through them and you will see how you can change the default download folder. 1. Copy the URL from the address bar while a YouTube page is open. Note, the program supports several other sites in addition to YouTube. I don't remember the entire list of supported websites, but feel free to experiment. 2. Paste it into the main window of the program with Control+V. The URL will be added to the list for processing. 3. Tab a few times and you will see several radio buttons. If you just want to download the video without converting it, make sure that the Only download radio button is checked. If you want to download and also convert the video to another format like MP3, make sure that the Convert to radio button is checked. 4. If you chose the Only download radio button, you can skip this step. If you chose to convert the file, tab once more after checking the Convert to radio button. You will wind up in a combo box that lists the available formats. Select the format to which you want the video to be converted. MP3 for example. 5. Tab a few more times and you will find a button that is not properly labeled, but which simply says ... This is a browse button. You can use it to select the folder where files will be downloaded. By default, it will save files in the My Videos folder. My Videos is only the virtual name for this folder. The actual path to this folder is \Users\UserName\Videos In either case, you can use the button labeled ... to change it. It will remember the folder you selected between sessions and continue to use that folder until you change it again. 6. Tab once more and you will find a button labeled either Download or Download and convert depending on whether you chose to just download or convert the file in the previous steps. Select this button and it will begin downloading and possibly converting the file. Carlos Take care. I am not familiar with their current prices, but you can purchase their products from 1 year to a lifetime subscription, and I believe the pricing is comparable if not better than other top named antivirus software companies. I also use Malware Bytes as an additional way to find and delete malware, and there is a free version of this available. Again, however, right now Malware Bytes is working to make their latest version of their product fully JAWS compatible, as they changed to a new programming platform on their latest version, and nust work the bugs out of it. I can however provide you with a copy of he installation file for the last JAWS compatible version, V. 1.75, if you might think that you would be interested in having it. My sighted wife described these exact symptoms, and a simple browser cleanup solved it all. There are at least 3 different ways to get to the Internet Explorer cleanup option. The most direct way is to press control, shift, and the delete key. That will get to the proper place, and on my Windows 7, JAWS lands on the cancel button. Press the tab key, and you will find a set of categories of stuff to remove. These are check boxes, so you press the space bar to select or deselect each category. The categories are self explanatory for the most part. Keep tabbing, and you will get to the delete button, press enter. Depending upon how long it has been since the last cleanup, it may take a minute for all this to finish. A malware tool is also a good thing to get, but I would first do the above, since the malware tool would not touch these items that can really slow down your browser. I recently formatted it reinstalled windows7, when I purchased the system, 32bit version of Windows7 drivers were installed in it, so after formatting I have chosen 32bit version of win7. This is the real problem; motherboard driver CDs supplied with the system only contains the drivers that are 64bit compatible. Where can I get 32bit compatible drivers? Does anyone have any idea?, Thanks in advance For answers to frequently asked questions about this list visit: http://www.jaws-users.com/help/
