I'm not trying to debate the point.
I've seen this comment to many times.
When you have the experience and knowledge of how, to get

Google is!!
I will not bring this subject or topic any more!!
thanks for all the knowledge on this list to help all of us!

Karim,

I think your google comment refers to my post. I understand how
it could have come across that way, but I don't mean to suggest
that this list isn't valuable or that people shouldn't post
questions. It's just that a question like what is the current
version of this or that application requires anyone answering to
check. Sometimes it makes as much sense for the person with the
question to search on google or go to some other source as to
have someone else find out the answer for you. Put another way,
Google is an option for many questions, but by no means all.
That's why I post questions here all the time.

Yes, you can safely update Flash Player from this site as long as you don't
check any check boxes that might install Google Chrome or other unwanted
software. But first, go to the Flash Player option on the Control Panel,
tab to the Update tab and scroll up from the bottom of the page using the
JAWS cursor to see whether the latest version has already been installed
automatically for IE and Firefox, if you are using it.

2015-06-18 Thread Jim Pursley
Adobe has made the update process far more efficient than in the past,
requiring just a couple of screens. The optional Google offers are on
the initial screen. Passing on to the install process is a one click
process. But the download/install process did not give feedback.
Fortunately, the handy little read screen hot key insert/B told me
that the install was complete. I hit enter to finish and that was
that. Much better than past iterations.

[JAWS-Users] Adobe Flash Player

2015-01-15 Thread Rick Justice
Somehow, part of my message went missing, here is the complete message.

Adobe Flash Player
Version 16.0.0.257
This appears to be the most recent as of today.
This info came from:

http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

The player can also be downloaded from this page.

To check your Flash Player settings, do the following:
1. Press the Windows key and the letter R, to open the Run dialogue.
2. When the run dialogue opens, type the following :
control
This will open the control panel.
3. Press the letter F until you hear Flash Player 32-bit, and press enter.
When the Flash Player Settings Manager opens, go to the advanced tab, and
then tab twice,
and you should hear one of the following radio buttons as being checked.

Allow Adobe to install updates (recommended)
Notify me to install updates
Never check for updates (not recommended)

If the first one is checked, then you probably will not be aware of updates
taking place.
If the second one is checked, then you should be notified each time an
update is available.

If you want to find the version number of your flash player, press the
keystroke
Insert +Control + the letter V.

After you have finished, simply use Alt + F4 to close the Settings Manager,
there are no apply or okay buttons.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit and Jaws 16 latest build.

HTH,
Rick Justice

Your question is certainly not off-topic because it concerns a program you
use with JAWS. Try installing the latest version of Adobe Flash Player from
the following site. Be sure to uncheck the box for installing Google Chrome

No, it isn't the perfect bastun of accessibility, but it can be done.

When you start the installation, you may hear three buttons. One will say
Button, the second will say I-Button and the third will say Q-Button. The
unlabeled button is the agree button for the license, if you see that,
press space on it. Then, you can activate the I-Button which stands for
Install. If you don't want to install, the Q-button is Quit.

The Adobe Flash Installer is niot completely accessible, but if you can
figure out (by tabbing) that the I in the options means Install and, I
guess, the Q means Quit, then the Adobe Installer should work for you.
Just tab around and be sure that you read the whole message after
installation to zap Google Chrome or whatever Adobe is hustling.

Re: [JAWS-Users] adobe flash player, general question?

2012-02-08 Thread Blackwell, Clifford
Many web sites need the flash play in order to work. If you don't have the
updated flash player, you may experience problems or even failures on certain
sites.

The Ninite.com web site does a good job of fully updating Adobe products and it
is very Jaws friendly. You might want to check it out if you continue to have
difficulties with updating flash.

It is important to note that there are really two different flash players and
they both occasionally need updating. There is yet a different version if you
use Fire Fox.

Ninite.com has made updating these products easier and less problematic for me.

2012-02-07 Thread Flor Lynch
There are three buttons, one of which is unlabelled, just called
'button'. This is the Accept button (accept license Agreement. You may
see it as one of two buttons, the other being Q or 'Quit' button. If you
don't hear/see anything, press the tab key in that dialogue, and once
again press either the 'button' or the i button. you may need to press
the I button about three times (presumably for the different components
of this awkwardly-fangled Flash player) before the process is
completed. Similarly, you may needd to activate the 'button' twice. the
dialogue just goes away when the process is completed. Another
alternative way to do the whole thing is to install the Flash update
from http://ninite/com/flashupdate .

2011-05-17 Thread Russ Hubley
Hans Pauli,
Thank you for your reply.
I went to this site and found the newest version of Adobe Flash Player. I
found a couple of things that were puzzling.
First, there was a warning about the newest version being a beta version and
caution was recommended for those who wanted to install it.
There was also something about just installing the 32 bit, working just fine
for 64 bit, IE9.
Secondly, it said that if someone wanted to update, they had to remove their
previous version, and would have to do this everytime a newer version came
out.
I wanted to write you again to get your opinions about this.
Thanks much again, there is no real hurry with this for me.

Hi again.

If all your needs on the internet can be resolved by using the 32 bit
browser, than it is not necesary to install the 64 bit version.

That is correct, that this pre release which is in beta at the moment, not
will update automatically, and later updates reqquires, that the previous
one first are beeing uninstalled manually, so it gives a bit more work to
do.

Hope you find out, what you're need's precisely are, so you can take the

Hi.

The unlabeled button is I Agree, that should be checked, and if you gives
this unlabeled button a press on the spacebar, than the I button should
disappear, because you don't agree to the license term's, and therefore
is'nt allowed to install the update.

So as far as the I button is available, than don't do anything with the
unlabeled button.

[JAWS-Users] Adobe Flash Player updates

2010-08-11 Thread Alan Terrie Robbins
Periodically, I get an update box to update to the latest
version of Adobe Flash Player, I can click on the install
button but then another box pops up in which there are two
or three buttons that JAWS will only say graphic. I've had
my wife look at these and one needs to be clicked on to
agree to their licensing items. I've tried all JAWS cursors
and tricks I know to do this myself but can't. Has anyone
figured a way to navigate that box without sighted
assistance?

thanks
Al

Re: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Flash Player Update

Usually when I try to update, it says that it needs to close the
program first and it isn't open. Then it tells me that it can't close
the program. So I am most successful if I check for updates from
within the program instead of from the Notification System Tray button.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Adobe Flash Player Update

2010-06-13 Thread Daniel McGee
\Hi which programme do you download to get flash updates? I to have been
doing it from the system tray and its just a pain. I never really know
weather its been updated or not.
The reason I try to update it is because they adobie say that they are
planning to enhance support for voiceover users who use the apple Mac OS and
this is also ment to enhance the support for windows. I don't know how long
it will take them but I hope it all becomes worth while waiting for. I get
fed up of things like unlabled buttons all the time! lol
A perfect example of this is my WI FI because when I needed to top up my
credit on my laptop with the network 3, there were a series of unlabled
buttons and to cut a long story short I had to click on each of these
buttons to ask how I wanted to top up the number on the reseat and then
finally the process of claming my credit to use my WI FIso there you go a
perfect example of Unlabled buttons to get some 10 pounds on my WI FI to
work and itwould be great if Flash became more accessable.
Anyway just thought I'd share that example to point out howscreenreader
users miss out on things and it can sometimes be thoes things that we need
to access.
Let me know what you all think. And it would be interesting to hear from you
all having different issues with flash. I think that would be a different
subject though but never the less I would be interested to see other people
on this explain how they would need to use the flash player.

Thanks
Daniel

Usually when I try to update, it says that it needs to close the program
first and it isn't open. Then it tells me that it can't close the program.
So I am most successful if I check for updates from within the program
instead of from the Notification System Tray button.

At 08:52 PM 6/12/2010, you wrote:
I'm not sure about others, but even when I'm able to update the flash
player

with the prompt, it still won't update correctly. I need to use the
uninstall tool and install the new version from the website. I'm surprised
Adobe hasn't done something concerning accessibility with uploads, as well
as using the Flash player.

Open adobe 9 and go to help and go up to update. It will search for updates
for adobe or go to the web page and get it there.

2010-06-12 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Pam;

I had the same problem as you and had to have sighted assistance to install
the update. What happens is a screen comes up that has unlabeled buttons
and my wife had to click on the I agree to the terms button and then on the
install button. I tried the Adobe website as well as a couple of others
with the same results. Take care.
Mike

Good evening

I notice more and more sites require Adobe Flash player to hear excerpts etc
of items they are promoting or want you to see. In the past most of this
stuff would play through Media player.

How user friendly is Flash player? Has anyone installed ? how does it work
with JAWS

What do I need to do to install

thanks
Al
