I googled this topic and all I got were adds for MS office. I didn't
readily see any offering for a free download for sounds to use in MS Office

I looked for sounds at alt F; options T; and, although I found a similar
multi page assortment of options, I could not find anything about sounds.
Any ideas? thanks

Thanks. I did find directions to turn on the sounds, but I didn't know that
there was a way to just turn on the notification when something is
downloaded. I am so amazed by, and grateful for, all of the knowledge that

sounds like there's no sound selected for that item, default beep.

1, control panel;
so type the word control from the start menu,
or, the search edit,

2, once you enter on the control app,
s=sounds,

3, now enter on sounds,
ctrl+tab until you hear;
sounds tab,

4, tab to the tree-view,

5, arrow down or, press the letter
d=default beep,

6, now use the tab key until you hear;
sounds combo box,

it's probably set to none,
press the letter w=windows background.wav

now you can tabto apply, enter,

again tab to ok press enter,

now test letter navigation on the desktop.

will do what you would want, I think, and have no effect outside of MS

Jim,

Many software packages now use information from components in your
computer to assist in preventing piracy. So, even if you have an
authorization number, you can't just install on multiple computers. I
believe the JAWS locking code is tied to a bunch of serial numbers of
components of your computer. So, if you change out a few components, the
locking number becomes invalid for your installation, even though you have
authorization.

It is more about FS trying to go the distance to prevent piracy of their

2012-01-02 Thread Mike Barbara
Hi Jim,

I don't know why but, whenever you make a hardware change it screws up the
Jaws activation you have to re-activate Jaws. I was experimenting with
sound cards, kept asking FS to reset my activation keys low behold, I
received a phone call from FS wanting to know what was going on! So
anyways, be prepared to re-activate Jaws whenever you make a hardware
change. The lesson is, always make sure you have activation keys available
before you make hardware changes. The steps for checking your activation
keys are below;

Checking remaining activation keys steps;
I posted a question to FS about how to determine the number of activation
keys remaining. In case any of you wanted to find out, here are their
instructions, verbatim:

Thank you for contacting Freedom Scientific Support.

We suggest going to FSACTIVATE.com

http://www.fsactivate.com
2. Click on the continue product activation button.
3. Down arrow to: Verify the number of activation keys available for
your Freedom Scientific product and press enter.
4. Down arrow to serial number and again down arrow to edit.
Type in your JAWS serial number and press enter on the submit button.
5. Underneath the first seven digits of the authorization number, you
will find the number of keys remaining.

If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact
us.

Take care.

  Hi list:

In device manager I went under sounds and removed a sound driver which I
had installed when I upgraded my computer to windows 7.

The reason I did this was to allow my new Bose usb speakers to work
smoothly with my computer.

What was happening was on start up my computer was ignoring the Bose usb
speakers even though I had them set as the default speakers.

  Things are working fine now.

My question is: after removing the sound driver and going back to the
original driver installed on my computer. I was taken to the authorization
page for Jaws. I had to put my authorization disk into the computer and
authorize it again or I would have ran in demo mode.

Why did my computer behave this way? What I did had nothing to do with
Jaws.

I am just trying to gain a greater understanding of how Jaws works with my
computer.

Everything is working smoothly now and I am very happy with jaws 13 and I
am thankful for F S and all the hard work that they do for us.

Happy New years and god bless…Jim

2012-01-02 Thread Deb Caldbeck
Glad this was posted to the list. My computer was in the shop a couple of
weeks ago to replace my optical drive. When I got home I didn't have any
activations left. I didn't know what to say to get more because I know
they're real sticky about that, but I do have three again now.

our highly intelegent list owner mr. Farin did a tetorial on something

My question would be how did he do this?

When you get into the speach and sounds then it is the same instructions
that I wrote.
You need the sounds of the door knocking once and twice before you begin on
your computer.
I have the door knocking once if the box is checked, and twice for
unchecked.

I liked how David did it, that is why I found out how to do it.

Check out Eric Damery's tutorial on the speech and sounds manager which if
memory serves Dan Clark might have updated in recent years. They discuss how

to assign sounds to items like check boxes ETC.

Hi,

our highly intelegent list owner mr. Farin did a tetorial on something I
don't remember what it was but while he was checkboxing around and such, I
kept hearing knocking sounds and other sounds.

My question would be how did he do this?

Any instructions would be great, thanks...

In Office 2010 with JAWS 12, the same JAWS key command, Ctrl plus M adds a

However, in JAWS 12 with Office 2007 Ctrl plus M does not seem to add a

Can anyone help me What JAWS Key Command can we use to add a new slide?

Subject: [JAWS-Users] sounds

I'm running XP, jaws 10, IE 7,, and Microsoft office 2003.
When I make a sound change in my office 2003, it won't stay. It will go back
to the sound Microsoft had.
I have uninstall Microsoft office, and put it back on, but it still won't
keep the sound I want on there, so what can I do to keep my sound on there?

if you go to:

desktop, enter on computer,
then enter on local disc C, then documentssettings,
now enter on your computer name,
press spacebar to select applications, press enter.
now, arrow you should see the avast folder,
press enter,

again, spacebar to select, press enter.

Hi list. I have been using avast 5.0.594 since it came out and
find it very good. Over the last 2 weeks, the sounds that came with avast
seem to have disappeared. In the past when windows came on, avast would
say virus database has been updated. but now when I go to the sounds
tab in control panel, there are no sounds listed for avast. All the
windows sounds are fine, and when I manually check the update tab in
avast, it seems to have updated the virus definitions automatically. Has
anyone else no

ted this and where does one find the sounds? I am using vista. Thanks

Re: [JAWS-Users] sounds for avast

2010-09-21 Thread Mobeen Iqbal

Hi.

I'm just wondering if avast has somehow become muted? what i mean is
windows seems to offer individualised volume controls for different
applications, is it possible that the volume for avast could be set to
0? the avast sounds should either be in the media folder inside the
windows folder on the root of your hard drive, or in the alwal software
folder in program files. I would check for you straight away but i don't
have avast 5 on this machine. by the way, don't update to the latest
program version yet as they're working on accessibility, they broke the
rightclick menu in terms of accessibility in 5.0.667.

It is a pain, but by going to the Avast page and updating the program update
the sounds will come back. You will have to use the Jaws key to work the
update program files.
