Mary Young Yes, that happened to me once, and I've never tried it again. I always download manually, except, of course when the download fails, as it did this time, because of the failure of the "I am a robot" test. -- Steve Hayes E-mail: sha...@dunelm.org.uk Blog: http://khanya.wordpress.com Web: http://www.khanya.org.za/stevesig.htm Phone: 083-342-3563 or 012-333-6727 Fax: 086-548-2525 -- LegacyUserGroup mailing list LegacyUserGroup@legacyusers.com To manage your subscription and unsubscribe http://legacyusers.com/mailman/listinfo/legacyusergroup_legacyusers.com Archives at: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/

I did not that the page (as opposed to the home page) took a long time to load, and there was a message at the bottom saying "Waiting for www.google.com" I do use an addon called NoScript, which allows one to block or unblock scripts on selected sites, but I had it unblocked for the Legacy site. Hi you are probably more advanced than I am but just in case... sometimes the screen resolution combined with the zoom size will cause items to not appear on the display and I have experienced the scroll bars not appearing. So I lower the zoom. Captcha's shouldn't be affected by pop-up blockers etc? Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading updates
The download pages added a Captcha several months ago. Maybe your freeze was because you did not see and click on the Captcha and were also blocking the error page from loading. The original posting in this thread mentioned an error page the user got saying the download failed because his submission had failed the robot test. PS. This only affects those who download from the website. An update from within legacy does not have the robot test Captcha. You did not say if you were updating from the web site or from Legacy. Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading updates
Ray, Download the final build of Legacy v7.5 from our website at www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/helpDownloadVersion7.asp. Make sure you have that build on both computers. First re-install 7 to get an INSTALL.LOG file back, then go to the program file and find unwise.exe and click on it. Then do what Michelle says. Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading updates
Ray, I understand you are using Legacy 8 and have installed it on both computers from a disc. It sounds as if you have updated the program on the desktop but you haven't updated it on the laptop. Therefore when you try to open your family file on the laptop, you are getting a message saying you need a later build. Update the program on the laptop (either from the Home Tab OR by downloading the Standard version from the website and running it) and your problem should be over. Note although you download the Standard Free version from the website, it is the same installation file for the Deluxe. The difference is that the Customer Number unlocks more features. I'm not sure why people were telling you to install Legacy 7. Confused I think by you saying that both computers were running Windows 7. Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading updates
Cathy is correct. I mistook the Win7 for Legacy 7 and tech support suggested 7.5. But the point is he now seems to have a Legacy8 program he can't uninstall for a missing INSTALL.LOG. Usually when you get this you can't get a clean install of 8 even if it does provide the install.log to uninstall it Prescott Smith presku...@yahoo.com From: Cathy Pinner [genea...@gmail.com] Sent: Saturday, 28 June, 2014 08:23 PM To: legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com Subject: Re: [LegacyUG] Downloading updates Ray, I understand you are using Legacy 8 and have installed it on both computers from a disc.
