RE: [LegacyUG] citing land entry files
When opening an Individual Information window, the cursor will automatically appear in the next empty vitals field. Many times people have a birth date entered but no christening or baptism date entered, thus the cursor will appear in that empty field. So what you are seeing is a normal function. If there is a date in the christening field, but no death date, then you’d be seeing the cursor in the death field. Clicking on Alt Tab simultaneously brings up the menu you cited, as well as the run-time error '9' menu. The move/close menu appears on top of the error menu. Brian, I continue to have issues. Here is what I did. First, I removed the existing source I had created which was showing up in the Christening field. That’s all I meant by that. I just went back into my ancestor where I added the land entry source. It’s there – in the christening field. I tried to edit the source, and I got the runtime error message I cited. When I tried to close it, I got the dialog box I was referring to – “Edit Mater Source Definition – Christening.” When I close this box, I am bounced out of Legacy altogether. It may sound as if I don’t know what I’m doing, but I’ve added many sources in the past without incident. I don’t know what is happening here. I checked out Error 9, and I have the current build date (26 Feb 2015) and version (8.0.0.473). I consider myself fairly computer adept, and have not had issues with Legacy in the past. I feel at a loss as to how to proceed. I thought this would be the appropriate template since I obtained hard copies from NARA directly. I also looked at templates under BLM, most of which were DVD/CD-ROM options. I thought Legacy created most of its templates based on EE’s directives and so am wondering if there is some other template I should be using.* EE references “Record Group 49†in her example for citing a whole (Homestead) file but a reco rd group is nowhere referenced in the paperwork I received. And in the receipt NARA sent there was handwritten notation in the box “File Designation†“Bx. 799,†and EE does not include such a field in her example, as follows: Robert Vandament (Chase County) homestead file, final certificate no. 328, Lincoln, Nebraska, Land Office; Land Entry Papers, 1800-1908; Records of the Bureau of Land Management, Record Group 49, National Archives, Washington, DC. I wonder why EE doesn’t include the Box Number? I would think that’s important if they sent me it to me. Most importantly, though, which template follows EE’s format for a land entry file? nbs p; Thanks, Barton Legacy User Group guidelines: http://www.LegacyFamilyTree.com/Etiquette.asp Archived messages after Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyusers.com/ Archived messages from old mail server - before Nov. 21 2009: http://www.mail-archive.com/legacyusergroup@legacyfamilytree.com/ Online technical support: http://support.legacyfamilytree.com Follow Legacy on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/LegacyFamilyTree) and on our blog (http://news.LegacyFamilyTree.com). RE: [LegacyUG] citing land entry files
Cathy, sorry, I’m lost. What do you mean by “section number?” The section in EE? Where is the “what kind of source do I want” field?
