Hello Victor. I use drag and drop all of the time in iTunes to drag and drop music and playlists on to my iPhone. Here are the steps I use to do this. First I move to what I want to drag. Cursor tracking is always on. Next, I highlight what I want with the mouse by pressing VO + Command + f5. VO will not always report what is highlighted properly but just ignore it's ramblings. THe next thing I will do is press VO +command + shift + space. THis performs a mouse down command. Next, I will turn off cursor tracking, navigate to where I wish to drop the music or playlists. I use the VO and arrow keys to do this since cursor tracking is turned off. Finally I will use VO + Command+ F5 to move the mouse to the drop point. You will here a small wooshing sound if you listen hard enough. Finally, I'll press VO + Command + Shift + Space to release the mouse and drop the dragged object. This works 100% of the time. This can be a bit tricky to master at first because of the number of steps that need to be taken. Please let me know if this helps. Please note. The question that should be asked is how many machines did they tear down. Out of the overall number of machines produced/assembled, how many have quality issues. The statements made are somewhat ridiculous because price point has nothing to do with it. YOu could purchase a $100,000 car and find sloppy work just as easily in the $20,000 car. If they did a tear down on 10 or 20 machines I would say there is a question about quality that needs to be addressed. Of course hopefully APple takes note and monitors perhaps the facility where that machine originated to ensure proper quality standards are being met. Any hidden Gotchas when installing more RAM in a MacBook?
Hi. I was just at a MacShop the other day and bought more RAM (DDR3 variety) for my MacBook which I purchased two years ago. I currently have 2 GB of memory and will soon have 4 GB. I am wondering If I need to make any changes to Snow Leopard prior or after installing the new RAM. Will my system just boot up normally, or do I need to make other changes? I also have VMWare Fusion and would like to allocate more memory for XP, once the new memory has been installed. Is this a straightforward process or will I need to re-install Windows XP under VMWare fusion? Mike, You do not need to change anything on your Mac and you do not need to reinstall windows. You only need to go into Fusion and edit the configuration for the VM and give it more memory. Hi Donna, One of the options you can adjust with vo-v is how VO handles text attribute changes. It can speak them or play a tone, or the default of do nothing. Hope this helps, Zack. I was sort of hoping for something like the JAWS Insert-F command, which allows you to check the attributes of a selection, without having attributes being spoken all the time. Hello Donna. VO T will give you the formatting attributes of the highlighted text. Have you tried Command + Z to undue? It's kind of like windows that way where it's Command + C to copy versus Control + C in windows. Hope this helps. To those of you who answered my questions about Audio Hijack in conjunction with Skype, thank you! 1. I erased the second Skype entry in the components list, but I was initially alarmed by the result. The Components list disappeared. However, clicking on New Session restored it in its entirety. 2. As soon as I erased the second Skype entry in the components list, I was once again able to interact with the toolbar. So all's well that ends well, and I thank all of you. I also would be very interested to know if Blackboard can be accessed with Safari. Angel, another online course management system, is not accessible with Safari, so I am having to use Windows and the System Access screen reader to use Angel. If Blackboard is not accessible in Safari, perhaps your student can access it in Windows. Hello, In response to a recent thread about keeping one-line thank-yous and similar content off the list, I would like to make a suggestion. Currently, replying to the sender or replying to all will send a copy of the message to the list. However, some lists I am on are set up so that replying to the sender will do just that, reply only to the sender of the message. To send a message to the list, one must reply to all. This is a great setup as it allows posters to very easily take a conversation off the list and keep it going privately; to do so, one party needs only to reply to sender, instead of reply to all, and the rest of the list will not see the subsequent messages (unless someone copies the list address on a message for some reason). On the Mac, Cmd-R is simply Reply, not Reply to Sender. Reply to Sender is found in the contextual menu you can access by interacting with Message Headers and navigating right to the From field. It really isn't hard to do. Reading dictionaries for scriptable apps.
Greetings, I suspect I'll be embarrassed when I learn the solution but I've tried all manners of interacting and exploring for context menus and cannot find a way to quickly skip to a dictionary, or a specific command within. For example, while skype.sdef is open, I interact with the table and expand it to find a level 1 item named: send. Regardless which item in the table is selected, when I tab to and interact with the HTML item my focus is at the very top (Standard Suite). TIA for any/all suggestions. Hi again: Good points being made here. And, I don't know yet whether there's something in group settings that would accomplish Alex's idea. In the mean time, to reply to an individual, what works for me is to use cmd-y to add sender to address book, cmd-N for new message, and type the first couple letters of the sender's name. I personally would not like this at all. Most of the time, I want my reply to go to the list. I think that the default for the reply hotkey should be the most commonly preferred action. We would have people sending answers to questions only to the original poster. It would have to be explained to every new member that the reply button does not do what is generally expected on a list of this type. Some people don't even read the welcome message, since it's usually the same instructions. This would complicate more than it would solve. Personally I like the way the list is set up now. The vast majority of replies that one sends should be going to the list. It's easier to change on those occasions where you want to send something specifically to the sender, since there are fewer of those situations. Airport choosing the wrong network to join.
Instead of my home network, with which Airport gets 4 of 4 bars, it repeatedly chooses an unsecured Linksys router, with which it only gets 1 of 4 bars. Oh, wow, I've never done it that way. I do VO-Shift-right in from field to highlight the sender's address, then select the context menu (VO-Shift-M) and then arrow down to reply to sender. Ok here's what I do. One list I'm on only defaults to the sender only. If I want to reply to the group I have to navigate up to the to field then change it. The problem is that Angel does not support Safari. In other words, it's not a VoiceOver issue. If Explorer or FireFox were accessible with VO, you would be able to use them, since Angel supports these browsers. In the short-term, I'm afraid your only options are to use Windows or, maybe, Ubuntu Linux. In the longer-term, it may be worth our while to write to Angel, asking them to begin supporting Safari. Oh to the person that said they could hit vo shift m on the email in the headers I just tried that and it broke. that is, nothing happened. and when I routed mouse to it with vo cmd f5 and hit vo space I heard new line and got booted back in to the message. question about the podcaster app
Hi All, I rescenly download the podcaster app on my Iphone. Tonight I went to the app and tapped on refresh podcast list. When I did this it downloaded podcast that I had already downloaded and deleted. So What do I need to do so that only the latest podcast are downloaded? When you are in the podcast on the bottom right there is a button called action tap on that then tap on mark as played. That should take care of it. I really think it is because mobile networks are not able yet to handel people putting unlimited demands for data access on them. Any network has its upper limits and mobile networks are still less able to handel demand than land line networks. If they put limits that serve a purpose, but are not over limiting, that keeps people from constantly doing things like streaming the most data intensive video stuff and whatever else they can fid with no concern of any consequences to themselves, bringing down the entire network so nobody can do anything and then everybody is left unhappy. People will be a little more reasonable with what they do if there is a cost to them. Having said that, ATT's netwrk can not even handel the limited use in some areas including the city where I live. During the day I can not even pull up a small web page on ATT's 3g network. It simply times out. I can not stream pandora, I can barely use the weather app to pull its small amount of data. Since my contract is almost up, I have signed on with Verizon and I can tell you that right now their network actually works in my area. My understanding is that this exact situation is not uncommon at all. Maybe Verizon will manage their resources and growth in a way that does not create another ATT. All, I'm having to work with a variety of databases, which are in Access 2007 format. What's a good and accessible database creator/management application on Mac OS X and VoiceOver? If you are able to, not only recommend an application, but also have experience with it; it would be absolutely fantastic. OmniOutliner by Omni Group
Omni Group has OmniOutliner for Mac OS X and iOS. I've got free trial of pro version for Mac OS X. I've found out that most of UI is accessible, but level info, such as in parent, child, sub-child etc are not provided. This makes it very difficult, if not impossible to work in an outline. Has anyone else had experience with OmniOutliner on Mac OS X or iOS with VoiceOver? Omni Group is a much raved about company with their productivity apps in Apple Mac OS X and iOS world. FileMaker seems to be well reviewed and respected as a database/server app on Mac OS X. I'm getting it.
