Re: How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?
I think the security implementation will take a while to get used to, especially when you have consumers who may not understand how it fully works completely. Regardless of what we are called, (System administrator, network administrator, Network engineer), we all have our duties, which are, to keep our clients and business is safe. Speaking from experience on my behalf, I can certainly see why my clients are hesitant to take to the new IP implementation, but I also see the benefits as well. I honestly hope though, that throughout the years the new IP implementation will become standardized. It would be nice if all of the Internet providers would have a conference, to talk about the IP implementation, and how it would greatly reduce security risks, etc. This way, the implementation could be adopted faster. I guess that's hoping though, at least. The best thing that we as either engineers or administrators can do, in the long run, is roll out the implementation on our own servers, and those of our clients as well, this way we all can benefit from it. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Re: How to prefer IPv6 on the Mac OS X Sierra?
Well I certainly hope that providers will start to support IPV6, As it would make security that much better in the long run. My point for even writing, or replying, was just the state for my clients, they prefer IPV4, Meanwhile they don't realize the benefits of the new IP implementation, So I am trying to work on that with them. I think for my clients, I will certainly work on implementing the new IP implementation for sure. -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Re: Authentication panel keeps popping up in the latest Sierra OS
Hello, I, also seem to be having the same problem. The only way for me to dismiss such panel, is to hit the control key and it goes away. But I know I have checked under security and privacy, under the General tab. I believe the screen lock feature may have had something to do with it, but the option for it for me was unchecked Yep the panel still came up for me as well. In fact as of the writing of this email, the panel comes up and I still have to dismiss it with the control key. Just to confirm, you would like to reset voiceover for the Mac, correct? If so, under VoiceOver utilities, you need to go to the file menu, and under I believe the option should be, reset all preferences. Re: Formatting an external drive
Glad I could help. In regards to your issue, it might be because it should have been able to have been formatted to Mac Extended Journelled. But it's possible that why it never formatted to that originally was because you may need to go to the erase tab, erase the drive, then re-partition the drive with the partition tab. Maybe what I said above might be what your issue is. Perhaps try that and see where you get. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Installing OSX on a 2TB WD Drive
Hi, I have a Western Digital 2TB MyPassport USB external drive, and I’m trying to install the latest OS 10 onto the drive. I formatted the drive as Mac Extended, Journaled, and made 1 partition, also formatted as Mac Extended, Journaled, and set in the options to use the G U I table scheme. Clicked on apply and it reformatted and created the partition. When I install the latest OSX from the Appstore, it acts as if it will install to that disk, but after reboot, it’s suppose to take at least an hour or so, and the setup assistant is suppose to come up. The computer, instead, immediately boots into the login screen, as if the operating system had never been installed on the internal drive, so it boots from the internal. In startup disk, the external doesn’t show up as a disk to boot from. Not sure what else I can do. Re: Getting back a forgotten recovery key using file Vault2 and V O
Strange. It has an option to store the key with apple so why wouldn’t they keep it. As far as the login, it only does it at first boot, if it awakes from sleep, it uses regular voice over. Otherwise the beep method. It scared me at first, but i got it right the first time. VO+shift+c, good keystroke for me to remember. I’ll retry file vault if I can. Though as I said, it’s odd that they have an option to store the key with apple. I was told they encrypt the key and if you answer the 3 questions you chose, then they’d give you the key. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Getting back a forgotten recovery key using file Vault2 and V O
I haven’t lost the password, yet, though i really wanted to write down the key and couldn’t. So I’ll need to call AppleCare and ask them for the key and email it to myself. How were you able to copy the key? When I am able to generate a new key I’ll try your way of copying to see if it changed or not. Hopefully, though, it hasn’t changed. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Getting back a forgotten recovery key using file Vault2 and V O
Hey list, I’ve enabled File Vault2, a way to encrypt your disk with sensitive information or other info. But the recovery key I couldn’t write down as there is no way of interacting with VO to copy the text of the key. So now, I no longer have the key anywhere, and VO has a beep prompt at login because the voiceover service does not fully come on when a disk is encrypted with File Vault2 enabled. The only thing I get is 1 beep to tell me that I’m on a username field, 2 beeps to indicate I’m on a password field, and 3 if I login correctly. So my question is. Has anyone who use V O and who may have enabled File vault2 experienced this recovery key issue? Re: viewing contents on an external harddrive
To answer your last question. Yes, the drive will be viewable on both Windows and Mac. If your drive is USB, simply connect it as you would to any Windows PC, only you won't need to install drivers for it. On your finder desktop, you should see the Mac drive, which may be Mac HD or whatever the default name normally is, and then your drive's name. Simply hit command plus o on your externals name and the external will come up. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: saving in text edit
Sure. In terminal, you can type this, exactly as it's written and iCloud won't be the default location. defaults write NSGlobalDomain NSDocumentSaveNewDocumentsToCloud -bool false And press enter. Then, exit terminal and when you re-launch text edit, you'll have your local drive as primary location. Of course, you'll still be able to save to iCloud, it just won't be the first option to save to anymore. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: An unanswered Question About Free or paid Accessible Checking programs for Mac
I'm able to try CheckBook, and it seems to work pretty well. Can't figure out how to schedule recurring payments though. For instance. Re: Has anyone ever used www.dau.mil?
In Safari, go under Preferences. Find and select, advanced. Under advanced, Check the checkbox which says: Show develop menu under menu bar. *You may have to restart the browser for the new menu to show. Once the check box is checked, in any Safari browser window, navigate to the develop menu, user agent, and select Internet Explorer 9. You'll have to always go through the process of selecting a different browser to display in, as this is a session-specific thing, for each browser window. Re: More than one iTunes account
You can have multiple devices on 1 library. Be Aware However Having multiple devices means that whatever you have on your library, your other devices will have 2. Anything that you might have, if the other devices don't match what you have, the other devices will be wiped and re-synced with your library's content. If you mean more than 1 iTunes Store account, yes, this is possible. However, more than 1 library, it wouldn't be possible, not without issues. If you'll authorize more than 1 iTunes store account. for each account to be authorized for iTunes store, simply log out of 1 account, then login to each account and they will be authorized. You can only be logged into 1 iTunes store account at a time, however. Hope this helps. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. A Few Questions About The Transmit App
Hello, I happened to come across Transmit, the FTP client for Mac. I'm confused as to whether or not, if you purchase it from the Mac Appstore, do you get a serial number with it to unlock it? Or would it be better to purchase it direct from the developer? Also, would anyone know if, say. I have 2 people I want to purchase transmit for, one lives in the US and the other does not. These people, of course, have 2 totally different names, etc, would I be able to purchase for both people using PayPal? I know I would have to do 2 completely different orders, as I can put 2 copies in 1 order, but that'd be under my name, so for me to purchase for 2 different people, I would assume when I purchase, I do 2 separate transactions, requesting 1 copy of transmit each. Thanks for any help one may be able to provide. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Hi, It's Daniel, nice to see you on this list. Do you know what error you get? Unless I missed it, I don't see the error message you're getting. Also, do you put in the settings manually? Or do you go through the mail setup wizard? If you do the mail setup wizard, the Gmail settings should work. Make sure you have pop enabled for all mail on the Gmail site.
