Re: MacTubes No Longer Working?
Hi, I'm not sure if you saw on the list a while back, but Mac tubes as well as you view, second-generation Apple TV units, various video game consoles, smart TVs, and other set-top boxes of been rendered useless via an eight DI change. And list the developer released an update to make tubes that I'm not aware of that may have fixed the issues, yet potentially provide another one, that app as well as other third-party ones no longer work. Unfortunately, at this time from what I can see, there's no third-party app for YouTube that is functioning. The first thing I did was label the unlabelled buttons. Press shift Vo H on each button to hear the help tag for each button, most will have one, then Copy what is said to the clipboard with shift VO C and then bring up the Voiceover Labeller by pressing VO / and then pasting in the contents of the help tag. You can label the vast majority of buttons with this method. This may help you get started. You also need to go to the menu bar and select quicktime as your output codec. Re: Mactubes not working after clean install
The is a way to download videos. However, you can consider it a pro feature, as you must donate to the project before it will let you save. I haven't done this yet, as I almost never need to save videos, but it can be done if you are willing to give the developer a bit of money. This app is so well done that I might just do that even if I don't use the save feature. -- Have a great day, Alex mehg...@gmail.com On Feb 12, 2014, at 2:39 AM, BBS bbssh...@samobile.net wrote: Hey Alex and others. Hey Alex and others. After investigating the app, I found that there was no way to download a video unless that save option does it but I somehow doubt it. When I select a video from the main search screen, I either tab over to the play button, or press Command T to open the player window. VO doesn't make reference to anything that sounds like the toolbar palate you describe. I wonder what version of Mactubes you have? I'm using V3.1.6 . If not, then just VO-arrow past the html area, then back again. Lol, it is kind of weird how it works, but interact with the html area again, and the player tool pallet should be there. Player menu button which you can't click on, but Have to bring up its context menu where you make selections for downloading etc. a graphic progress indicator which does nothing the volume slider 3 buttons for prior video, play/pause video, and next video. a video format menu button where you can select MP4, FLV etc the enter full screen button finally the close player button Once voice over says Interact with video playback toolbar item palette, I go to the far right of the window function-VO-right-arrow for my MBA, then VO-space on full screen. I visualize this controller panel as a horizontal line along the bottom. On the left you have volume low, then a slider for volume, then volume high. Next a checkbox for play, exit full screen. Finally on the right side is the total timeline, a slider to move the video forwards or backwards, then the time remaining. This works the best for me. I’m visually impaired so I like the videos in full screen. Keep in mind, for some reason the shortcut command-F will put the video in full screen, but the controls won’t show up. Re: Mactubes player controls
Hi Tracy, yes, I found the toolbar in the HTML area and figured out from there. It works okay, but if I really want to work through a video, I download it and use QuickTime and it's rewind and fast-forward features. They're much better. Hi tracy, and thanks for getting back to me on this. I've embedded my questions and comments into your message below. Re: Mactubes
It definitely *is* possible to download videos from MacTubes. It takes fiddling, but it *is* doable. You have to put in the URL for the video and start it playing, Then you have to find the first unlabeled button to the right of the playing video then hit control-option-shift-m and arrow down till you hear download submenu then hit right-arrow and arrow down to the video format you want. I tend to use MP4. Then watch the slider to the right until it says 100% and the video will be ownloaded. Re: Mactubes
No, it really doesn't have to be that complicated. First of all, read the help tags for your buttons and label them. Secondly, there is no need to put the url in unless you don't want to do a search. Just search and start playing. when you find the one you want to download, do vo-shift-m on the player menu button (I don't remember whether or not I had to label it but you can find out what it is using the help tags. In the menu will be a download option with options for your download format. I use reminders and calendar all the time, but those are built in... Oh, there's the RS Games client, which lets you play Uno, Battleship, 1000 Miles, and a couple other games against the computer or other players online. I think the site for that is rsgames.net but I'm not sure, so google might be your best bet to find it. Of course Dropbox is important to me, especially now that I can access the menu for it in Mountain Lion. That's all I can think of for the moment, aside from the other built-in apps I use (Safari, Mail, Contacts, and so on).
