Re: [MBZ] 1995 W124 E320 Headlight High Beams
Try some WD40 to see if you can get it working again. Had the same issue with a 124 I had, worked on my 201 rear window switches as well. You can always follow up with CAIG D5 later on. Re: [MBZ] 1995 W124 E320 Headlight High Beams
Dan, I can only relate my success using it for the issue at hand. I was trying to offer a simple semi-permanent solution to Craig before his upcoming trip. I'm sure he has enough on his plate without having to worry about changing switches or special ordering supplies. By all means if he can get the switch operational again with a few well placed shots of WD40 actuating it, it should be followed up with something else (i.e. the D5 or replacing it entirely, didn't MB issue a TSB?). I think most on here would have the sense not douse the switch with ANYTHING (emphasizing, not yelling) while it's attached to the steering column. And at dusk/night you'll be better able to see if your having any progress with the switch (if your by yourself). You'll want to give the pivoting part a few quick squirts over/around the top with the nozzle attachment. Should trickle down where it needs to go. Operate the switch a few (10-15?) times to check it's function respray as necessary. You may just get some brief flashes at first from the high beams, keep working at it you'll eventually get to where they'll stay on when the switch is engaged. Dan, your thinking of ASR. Max's E300 has ASD (limited slip/auto locking diff) which does require special fluid. Re: [MBZ] Another Fluid Question - ASR vs ETS
I should have noted before (in case anyone is unfamiliar with the system), that ASR (Anti-Slip Regulation) also limits power to the engine as well as using the brakes to control wheel spin, depending on vehicle speed degree of traction loss. The ETS (Electronic Traction Support) system that superseded or replaced ASD (Auto Locking Differential) on models which had it previously available, is the system that used only brake intervention. -- Chris J. ___ http://www.okiebenz.com For new and used parts go to www.okiebenz.com To search list archives http://www.okiebenz.com/archive/ To Unsubscribe or change delivery options go to: http://mail.okiebenz.com/mailman/listinfo/mercedes_okiebenz.com

No, no! Steering assist is only active when you have the Distronic cruise activated. Came across an article describing the system working in conjunction with ESP on the previous A B Class models. Hard to say though without any technical info. From the article: Steering assist is designed in a way that it supports a driver in these situations, but never dictates to the driver. The driver may override the systems’ intentions at any time. http://www.driveandstayalive.com/info%20section/news/individual%20news%20articles/y_050316_bosch_steering-assist.htm On 4/20/2013 3:41 PM, Mitch Haley wrote: Chris James wrote: No, no! Re: [MBZ] Mystery Tank?
Yes, Mercedes has (had?) an accessory fuel can available for all models, but 1408900111 is not it. That is to hold the tool kit. The fuel can wasn't a 140 specific part. I only have accessory info for the e-class (124,210,211) on my computer. Ah, here it is...after some searching the part # to fit the larger 140 wheel is, I believe B6 758 0045! 15 wheel, 9L (2 gal). You would also need a mounting kit for it too I think, not sure the #. For when 26.5 gal is just not enough! I take part of that back, after Alex was gracious enough to send pics. The exterior IS nice, but everything else was a let down at the current asking price. The non-turbo 603, manual climate w/A/C fanfare horn are cool features/options, but in reality it's a $2K car at best. Especially with 210+Kmi on it. Re: [MBZ] Opine away - Limited Edition 190E
No, that is a real Limited Edition! The seller does note that he wrapped the original trim due to cracking, it's very similar to the original though. I'm surprised you've never heard of them or seen one. 700 each were produced of the 190E 2.3 2.6 for the '93 MY. There was no charge for the additional equipment totaling around $3K, a steal really! The 2.3 came in monotone metallic emerald green w/ cream beige leather additional burl wood trim, the 2.6 in two tone black w/ black red leather sport seats carbon fiber trim. Easily recognizable by the 8 hole rims headlight wipers, which at the time were either not available (in the case if the rims) or rarely seen on the standard 190. Despite the handling upgrades sport seats/trim on the 2.6 Limited Edition it did not have Sportline exterior badging, also the standard model designation was omitted on the trunk lid of both models. The 2.6 did have a Sportline gearshift knob though. The shift knob doesn't look leather, but I'm not familiar with auto tranny Sportlines, I always used to look for manuals. I don't think those wheels came from a W201. Re: [MBZ] Response from Trent -- Worldpac problems?
Not always. It may state Original Equipment Manufacturer show a picture of the MB part on a Worldpac parts site BUT.Bosch does not always = the Bosch part spec'd for your MB. For instance, I can get aftermarket Bosch wiper blades at the local auto parts store...if I'm ordering online I want the original MB part. There IS a difference between the two! The MB spec'd blade of course being of better quality, has better fitment look. Unless your parts suppler is ordering direct from Mercedes, there is a chance you won't be getting what your expecting at times. I ended up having to order another blade washer nozzle from MB to finally get the right ones for the early W201 I had. Of course many OEM parts in other situations are fine, belts, hoses, filters ect.with some MB dealers now offering online parts ordering with info sourced from the EPC, not sure I'd bother with Worldpac or anyone else when I have another MB that I need parts for On 6/11/2013 7:07 PM, Dan Penoff wrote: OEM implies that it's coming from MB, I would assume. When I ordered new rubber brake lines for the 260E I had, I bought a $10 Brake Bleeding Kit as well http://www.autohausaz.com/search/product.aspx?sid=xz2z3q55xchaxxbgw1xftfropartnumber=19200LISLE First time for me, but had no issues (thankfully) bleeding/flushing the lines with new syn DOT 3/4 fluid, just by pumping the brake pedal (being careful not to depress it fully) keeping the reservoir filled. IIRC I did go through 2-3 (small) bottles making sure all the old brake fluid was flushed out.

Re: [MBZ] The 2014 Mercedes-Benz E250 BlueTEC is here!
Well, there are good dealers bad dealers (and good bad service/parts departments). Re-reading Kaleb's post, a chat with the adviser regarding previous service history, prior to handing over the keys may have prevented the up-selling improved his experience. Everyone knows those Airmatic shocks are $$$ (just by themselves) to have replaced at the dealer, no surprise there. If you can afford it, I don't see why a new Mercedes diesel should not be considered enjoyed. The cars now going on 20-30 years are certainly not issue or trouble free with far more expensive bits that are needing to be replaced then a new car off the lot would have! :-) On 9/15/2013 10:20 PM, mercedes-requ...@okiebenz.com wrote: From: Hendrik and Fay heni...@gmail.com Date: 9/15/2013 8:48 PM I think Kaleb provided a very good reason earlier when he informed us as to the level of service received at the local dealer. [MBZ] 350SDL on eBay
Seen this 350SDL while browsing eBay. The color caught my eye, don't see Teal Blue cars too often. But the vid they posted was a total turn off. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psxb9e-rCkQ OK, we get it, it hauls! Everyone knows the benefits of an Italian tuneup, but all the revving of the engine racing it around the parking lot in a for sale vid didn't impress me or befit the car, especially with the clicking/clacking lifters and/or belt tensioner it just seemed overly loud in general. That 603 certainly wasn't purring. More like $60K new 30mpg.keep dreaming! Still it's a pretty car, just not for their original $8K asking price. I wonder how much the dealer picked it up at auction for? -- Chris J. It might! :-) Looks like you can only get it on eBay now (discontinued), but this was great for cleaning up the 260E I bought from a dealer, that had been sloppily detailed with Armor All? all over the dust/grime. After wiping down every surface the seats it smelled so much better. Non-greasy/low shine too. [MBZ] Speaking of trucks....
I found this cool truck the other day on CL! 1983 Mercedes L1116 dump truck (141.7 wb) Turbo OM352-A (145hp/295lb-ft) http://asheville.craigslist.org/hvo/4100878804.html Don't see many short wheel base MB trunks, most I've seen for sale have huge cargo boxers or flatbeds. The short nose MB trucks are really unique looking, too bad they stopped selling them in the late '80s? here in the US. It would definitely be cool if they re-issued them with modern equipment! I guess in the '90s D-B decided to focus on their other brand acquisitions (Freightliner ect.). Supposedly the US market trucks were assembled here in the US (like the Sprinter), anyone know by whom or where? They were quite popular in other parts of the world. http://www.ebay.com/itm/1987-Mercedes-Benz-Diesel-Truck-Ad-wl714-J4KZZM-/290874424001 -- Chris J.
