Hi Martin, send a copy of you Admin property page

I think the best way to manage the service depends on its functionality.
Windows is not as nice for scripting as 'bash', PowerShell has the
equivalent power as DOS batch is limited.

Re: Unable to start MySQL in NetBeans

2018-04-26 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Martin:

To start try this:
Path to start: C:\Program Files\MySQL\MySQL Server 8.0\bin\mysqld.exe
Arguments: --console --port 3310 --datadir="C:\\ProgramData\\MySQL\\MySQL
Server 8.0\\Data\\" --default-authentication-plugin=mysql_native_password

If you are using the default port, it defaults to 3306.

To stop, use Disconnect. I will have to create a custom stop such as a
script. From a command line, I was able to stop the database.
mysqladmin --port= --host 127.0.0.1 --user root --password

>From xampp for stop, it uses a script, most interesting it contains logic
to remove the pid file if it exist. I will write a script.

The other method for Windows to create a service, then you can use the "NET
STOP" to stop the service, and "NET START" to start the service.
On your windows machine, go to a command prompt, "net start". It will show
a list or running services. These are the same services, if you look at
the process services in Taskman. Linux/Unix uses "ps".

For the Admin, I am using phpmyadmin.

I will connect later.

Re: Unable to start MySQL in NetBeans

2018-04-26 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Martin, I will try it. There are several methods to configure the start
and stop process and it is platform dependent.

You can use configuration files or scripts.

I will get back to you later. I am working now and will resume this
later.

What is your configuration again and platform? I have Windows, MacOS,
Linux 64-bit, and Linux 32-bit

The other information I sent was from my Windows system.

Re: Unable to start MySQL in NetBeans

2018-04-26 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi all:
I have the following running on this system concurrently MySQL 5.6 on port
3308, Maria DB 10.x on port 3306, MySQL 8.0.11 on port 3310, and Oracle XE
Express on port 1521. Several Apache & Tomcat servers running on different
ports and all working.

Tim Boudreau commented on NETBEANS-488:
---

I've attached a patch, and a built nbm including the patch, based on
the old Mercurial contrib sources.

*HOWEVER:* The current Git trunk does not contain the javac api it
relies on to analyze java sources; I gather that is coming in some
future source drop. So it should work in a netbeans.org release, but
not as yet in an Apache build.

Re: [Editor] Test run did not save

2018-04-16 Thread Efrem Mc
Good morning, thanks Holman and Joseph, this was not due to a time-out
but the ending of the Test Run schedule.

The Test Runs ended at 15 Apr 2018 17:59:00. I was logged on the
system before it ended and still was in progress of testing when the
Test Run time ended (I am EST USA). After the 17:59 UTC was
encountered, the system did not accept the work in progress. I should
have press Pause during the testing phase (I know better).

When testing opens again, I will address it. Will testing open again
for NB 9.0?

Regards,

Efrem

Re: [editor] Urgent: Help with Java Editor testing

2018-04-14 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi all: I completed the Java Project. I have a few questions as I
skipped a few test cases related to Remote projects. The
functionality is there but I need to create an environment and
document it so it can be used.

I need to get specifics that use a generic account that we can share
and publish. I can go into detail or take it offline. I will complete
any open testing items. I have only one left on the MacOS.

Regards,

Efrem

Re: [gui] GUI Builder Tribe Testing update

2018-04-12 Thread Efrem Mc
Awesome Chuck!

I will be resuming Testing in 2 hours. It appears they extended the
testing until 4/15 according to the calendar on the main Test Run
page.

Thanks once again to all of you. Double check if we have any open
Test Runs. As a quick note from everyone, I noted many new fixes and
the new versions came out, I am using build 406.

The incubator link now requires a few more click to get to the big zip file.

See: https://builds.apache.org/job/incubator-netbeans-linux/

Then click on " Last Successful Artifacts", then click on " nbbuild",
and final you will see the big zip file:
NetBeans-dev-incubator-netbeans-linux-406-on-20180411-basic.zip

We maybe ask to test and use latest build and do regression testing
only the failed test cases. We do not have that many reported issues.

Also review the reported bugs on
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-462 (this is one on the
Help issues). From here you can see all of them. There is a link on
the Tribe main page for each group. It is a query that runs to the
report issues.

Thanks for getting this all done team!

Awesome, thanks! This is wonderful. I will be complete the Test Run I
started ,it is long. Some of these test cases needs edits to be clear.
During a test on build 406 on the Mac, it froze doing some DB testing on
Derby. I had to kill the application. It did report it, I am going to try
to reproduce this morning.

[gui] GUI Builder Tribe Testing update

2018-04-10 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi GUI Builder Tribe members:

We have a few items to complete testing.

Efrem will complete the MacOS testing today; I have two Test Runs.

Form Editor - Component Inspector Test Specification
Form Editor and Support Modules - sanity  {Review and Edits WIP}

Need updates on for Test Runs (Test Assignment) Full Cycle:

Form Refactoring Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Gaps Visualization Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Group Layout Library Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Grid Bag Customizer Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

I know that these two were done by Giuliano. We just need Test Run Assignments:
Form Editor - Group Layout Library Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Grid Bag Customizer Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

All members who have open Test Runs, please provide an updated as
testing ends in two days.

Yes, you can update the test spec and make notes about this in a summary
format. If you update it outside the Test Run, it will show up in the Test
Run.

Re: [db] Progress of DB testing

2018-04-08 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Vladimir, I went to review your Test run on the DB Test Spec, I
think there is a typo for one of the failed test scenario.

key in (NETBEANS-622,NETBEANS-262) but the last one had 262832. Ahh,
the 262832, was linking to the old Netbeans.org Bugzilla site.

One of the good things I like about NB 8.x and prior versions, on how
bugs were reported. However, it took too much time to probably filter
through all those reported bugs as most were truly user error.
Someone would have to be staffed to review all those incoming defects
and validate the requests. That is a time consuming task.

Thanks for running the test. Did you make any changes in the Test
Spec itself? I know I am going to add some specific task notes for
MacOS. I will test both JDK8u162 and JDK10. I already copied the DB
drivers from my previous download for testing and the functionality
behavior is as expected, works!

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-04-04 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi we need your help to take any one of the following: To review the Test
Spec and Assign yourself to run the test cases.

Form Editor - Property Editors NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Internationalization NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor & Support Modules - sanity NetBeans 9.0

Currently assigned to review the Test Spec and Run the Test (please assign
yourself or Giuliano or Jiri can assign):

Giuliano Meini:
Form Editor - Group Layout Library Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Grid Bag Customizer Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

Kai Uwe Pel:
Form Refactoring Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Gaps Visualization Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

You can assign Test assignments to yourself as a Volunteer.

We need to test on multiple platforms (Linux, MacOS, Windows)

1.Login into Synergy.
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/run/28/v/2

2. Click on Test Runs.
Scroll down to "Assignments", and click on the person icon (Volunteer)
3. Select your Platform is Linux (according to your profile, but you
can also test others)
4. Form Spec should stay a 9.0
5. Assign yourself to:

<>

You will have to do this for each of them. Normally the Team Tribe
Lead assigns these but he has appeared to be busy. We can do our own Test
assignments now. We can not assign to others, just the team leader or Jiri.

After this, you should see yourself assigned on the Test Run. When you
are ready to test, Launch NB 9.0, Click on the Play run in the Test
Run for your assignment and validate the test cases.
[If possible, try the latest incubator build at 380 and above, I am using
build 392]

We are behind schedule. I will be running Test Runs later tonight for
MacOS.

Regards,

Efrem

Hi GUI Builder Tribe Members,

You will find the latest build at [1] and disregard the name of Linux
because the build works for all platforms. I am using build 392 and I will
retest all reported bugs.
If you are curious, please read the Artifacts "rat-report.txt" file and
Recent Changes report.

Test run for full testing of Apache NetBeans 9.0 development builds [1]
<https://builds.apache.org/job/incubator-netbeans-linux> during NetCAT 9.0
program [2]
<https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/NetCAT+9.0>. Please
use the latest builds of JDK 8 [3] <http://jdk.java.net/8/> and JDK 10 [4]
<http://jdk.java.net/10/>. All testers are required to complete their
testing by *12th of April, 2018* [5]
For more information about current quality of Apache NetBeans IDE see the
main JIRA dashboard [6]

.

Also, remember our focus and review the defects (bugs) list below.

Tribe focused on the following features for building client side graphical
user interface:

   - Component inspector
   - Component palette
   - Support for variety of layouts
   - Code generation and refactoring
   - Custom property editors
   - Internationalization
   - Beans binding

For more information see Introduction to GUI Building tutorial
<https://netbeans.org/kb/docs/java/gui-functionality.html>.

These are the reported issues for GUI Builder
JIRA filter: https://issues.apache.org/jira/issues/?filter=12343295

As well as the previous site:
https://netbeans.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=192924 and search gui or
guibuild

It has many high end reported issues (P1) and lower levels or enhancement
request.

Good luck with testing. I will be online from now until the next hour
(1:30pm EST timezone).

Efrem

Re: [db] Progress of DB testing

2018-04-04 Thread Efrem Mc
I am going to complete DB Testing this morning. I also have Oracle XE
installed and everything is working to Debry, mySQL, and Oracle XE. I
was only able to get Oracle XE to work using a system account. The
user account I created was not able to authenticate through the
driver. The account is able to login through the web interface.

I will run the Test cases within the next few minutes.

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-04-04 Thread Efrem Mc
Good morning, I would suggest either continue your test on the current and
retest the entire spec with the latest build that address that fix. Or use
the latest build, and restart from the beginning to reduce testing twice.
If you read the artifact it states what fixes are incorporated into the
incubator build. We need to hear from other team members on their updates
and status.

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-04-03 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Holman, are you available to test any other Test Specs or review them?
I am cc Giuliano so he is included. I assigned myself to some Test
Assignment (Form File, Windows Config)

Giuliano:

I am doing the same testing on what was assigned to test on MacOS. Is
there anything you would like to test? I understand we all have different
timezone and limited time to test.

Holman Zsoft completed:

Form Editor - Beans Binding NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Code Generation NetBeans 9.0

Chuck was initially assigned to: (assigned to me by accident - I updated
the Test Spec) - I can assign and have him retest.

Form Editor - Component Inspector Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Component Palette Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

Efrem McCrimon: Windows, MacOS

Form Editor - Form File Compatibility Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Window configurable Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Component Inspector Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Component Palette Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

Need your input as time permits on below. Even if the testing was
completed we can do regression testing and retest as new builds become
available. We can also state what JDK was used.

We have the remaining Test Spec to review and test:

They need to be Cloned to NB 9.0 verified and modified as needed.

Form Editor - Grid Bag Customizer Test Specification NetBeans 7.1
<http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/174>
Form Refactoring Test Specification NetBeans 7.1
<http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/175>
Form Editor - Gaps Visualization Test Specification NetBeans 7.2
<http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/183>
Form Editor - Property Editors NetBeans 7.4
<http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/193>
Form Editor - Internationalization NetBeans 7.4
<http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/194>
What is the status with the Team? Should we have an IRC meeting? I am
available to help I will run Windows Testing today and MacOS tomorrow. My
MacOS is updated with the latest incubator build and JDK10.

Open:

Form Editor & Support Modules - sanity NetBeans 7.4
Form Editor - Property Editors NetBeans 7.4
Form Editor - Internationalization NetBeans 7.4

All DB Tribe members - please provide an update and status to review open
test specs and retest completed one on the same or difference OSes.
Time is running out for testing.

[db] Test Assignments

2018-04-01 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Don and Jiri,

Please assign me to the Database Driver and Connection Test
Specification NetBeans 9.0 for Windows and MacOS. I have already
ran through a full test cycle for this Test Spec on Windows. I will
also do this for MacOS and Connect my MacOS to the Windows to access
the Oracle XE Database. I was able to test all connection and access
Oracle XE using the system account. I need to try some other
configuration to test a standard user account that I created.I was
able to use a standard account created using the Web Interface outside
of NB 9.0 but could not successfully access if through NB 9.0 or 8.2.

Thanks,

I completed the Form Editor - Palette Test with one failed case.
Issued reported.

Once the MacOS assignments are done, I can run it through the test
cases. I updated the MacOS to JDK10. The version from the incubator

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-03-28 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Holman, the information Giuliano sent out before you joined the team. I
am just helping our team out as I have some time this morning. Some of the
assignments may have changed but overall we need to run the test for each
of these. Here are the important factors.

Summary of what to do:

He wrote on 3/10/18:

Hi, to all members of GUI Builder Staff

It is time to start over test specification group
So I think that the right way is going on step to step.
First step: send your email, (this team is of 5 members, so I need only 3
email because Efrem email to me)
Second step: download netbeans 9 and java 9 from
http://www-eu.apache.org/dist/incubator/netbeans/incubating-
netbeans-java/incubating-9.0-beta/incubating-netbeans-java-9.0-beta-bin.zip
Third step: clone the test specification list Form Editor, and insert in
http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specifications with
"create new"

Giuliano assigned the following and maybe waiting for responses.

=
References:

Because we are 5 people, start with 2 test specification for every one.
so, if you agree, I think that we can do:

chuck davis:
Form Editor - Component Inspector Test Specification NetBeans 6.1
Form Editor - Component Palette Test Specification NetBeans 6.1

efrem mccrimon:
Form Editor - Form File Compatibility Test Specification NetBeans 6.1
Form Editor - Window configurable Test Specification NetBeans 7.2

giuliano meini:
Form Editor - Group Layout Library Test Specification NetBeans 6.1
Form Editor - Grid Bag Customizer Test Specification NetBeans 7.1

kai uwe pel:
Form Refactoring Test Specification NetBeans 7.1
Form Editor - Gaps Visualization Test Specification NetBeans 7.2

scott palmer:
Form Editor - Property Editors NetBeans 7.4
Form Editor - Internationalization NetBeans 7.4

to assign:
Form Editor - Beans Binding NetBeans 7.4
Form Editor & Support Modules - sanity NetBeans 7.4
Form Editor - Code Generation NetBeans 7.4

If you are not agree, please write to us and we can modify the the work.

Thanks, I am waiting your replay

[gui] GUI Builder testing

2018-03-26 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi, I hope all is well.

I will be spending about three hours today and completing testing on
the following for GUI Builder

I created NetBeans 9.0 for these two items. I am partially through
the first one.

Form Editor - Component Inspector Test Specification
Form Editor - Component Palette Test Specification

I do not see Test Assignments for these two:

Form Editor - Window Configurable Test Specification NetBeans 9.0
Form Editor - Form File Compatibility Test Specification NetBeans 9.0

Efrem

Re: which build?

2018-03-24 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Glenn, the latest build is here:

https://builds.apache.org/job/incubator-netbeans-linux/

Regardless of the name Linux it works for all OS, that is the beauty
of Apache NetBeans. I am using this build on Windows, Linux, and
MacOS. This build is at #376, I have downloaded it and it works.
There is a Windows specific version #356. I have not downloaded it
yet but it should be fine. Both versions will work on Linux and
MacOS. The MacOS requires that you have a JDK such as 9.04 or JDK10.

Regards,

Efrem

Re: corrupted jars in Build 376

2018-03-24 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Rick, the build is still not correct for a few items. I just did
some basic regression testing on 461 and it does not work. They need
to change the order when that unpacks for the build process. It shows
the code is in the package. I don't understand the build process and
order but Geertjan mention it some important facts. He can fix it.

See lines 60, 9240...

rat-report.txt

I download them and save them by build pkg, i.e., : rat-report-376build.txt

Efrem

I agree with Rick, the download is fine. I just downloaded it

[incubator] Question on Incubator builds vs source builds

2018-03-22 Thread Efrem Mc
Good morning NB dev, I hope all is well.

What is the difference between building from source using the ant tool
verses what incubator does? What process does Incubator does? Who
initiates the build process on incubator?

I tried to build from source yesterday as a test, and it errored out
on Windows. I rather get a build off incubator because it will be a
version everyone is using for testing. I have no problems using a
build from sources as I am use to that on Linux. I was so surprised
it worked on Windows. (smiles)

I have time later today to test this. I am just reading emails and
completing the File Form Editor - Form File Compatibility Test. I am
updating the Test Specs.

Thanks for all your help.

Regards,

Efrem McCrimon (efremmc2)

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-03-19 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi Giuliano, I started testing yesterday and completed about 3/4 of the
testing on the Form Editor - Window Configurable Test Specification. I
have to verify the Internationalization behaviors. In addition, I need to
verify some of the modifiers on the classes being created with specific
settings on GUI Builder "Options". I made some modification for clarity
and corrected a few typos on the Test Spec.

http://netbeans-vm.apache.org/synergy/client/app/#/specification/395

I will log and document once I have completed the task. I reported two
bugs. The latest is https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-488 and
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NETBEANS-461. 461 has been fixed and
closed.

Regards,

Efrem McCrimon (efremmc2)

Hi, is there an installable version of NB9 *windows) or just the
zipfile. If not,
how does the executable pick up the paths to the associated programs
when I start the program from a non-cmdline. Should I be starting it
from a command
line? The reason why I ask, it had several errors like it was looking
for a resource that it could not find.

I was doing a XML Translation on a XSL file. I wanted to make sure
before reporting an error.

I will clone the test scripts tonight.

Regards,

Efrem

Re: GUI Builder Tribe

2018-03-09 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi, I (Efrem) agree. I will download the software tonight and install for
tomorrow. I will need to update Java on my other test machine. If time
permits me, I will test both on Windows and Linux 64-bit 4.6.5 (stable) and
4.15.x (testing).

Thanks for the email to get us started.

Efrem

Re: Provider information - Efrem McCrimon

2018-03-09 Thread Efrem Mc
Hi, what version of the JRE and Java SDK to use for testing?

I have Java 8 version at update 161; I know update 162 is available.
I know version 9 is out.

>java -version
java version "1.8.0_161"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_161-b12)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.161-b12, mixed mode)

Thanks,

Efrem
