[NTG-context] Two framed texts on the same line
Hello, I would like to achieve this kind of typographical effect: two text blocks, one of them aligned to the left margin, the other with left-aligned text but with the right margin at the right margin of the page. I can obtain each of them with for example the following: \defineframedtext[lepi][align=raggedright,width=fit,offset=0pt,frame=off,location=left] \defineframedtext[repi][align=raggedright,width=fit,offset=0pt,frame=off,location=right] Now, I want them to be at the same height. However, using things like placesidebyside or even just \startlepi ... \stoplepi \startrepi ... \stoprepi doesn't work. [NTG-context] How is it possible to include DraTex code in Context ?
Hi, I'm presently doing my first steps with Context, which seems absolutly wonderfull... so thanks to the developper(s). In the past, I was using plain tex with a macro package called DraTex to draw all sorts of things; so I have a library of figures which I would like to resuse in Context. I have seen no specific reference in the Context manual(s) about the compatibility of Context with others plain tex packages. When I do: \input DraTex.sty \input AlDraTex.sty I have the message No room for a new \dimen... If I load only the first package (DraTex), this works, but for advances things, I need AlDraTex. So the question: how is it possible to include DraTex code in Context ? Thanks for any help. Fabrice L. One thing I have to mention is that I'm not good at ConTeXting, and I don't have too much time either, it will probably take a little long time for me to translate the whole manual. no, you need to bypass the location handling in framed texts
so, replacing left and right by none should do the trick, however, i

This is always the same difference of opinion : - Some people like to see the only input format to be xml (write xml for math, ...) and think *TeX as one of the output formats (as for pdf, xhtml, ps...). - Other poeple (specialy those coming from TeX community) prefere writing by hand (yes it does yet exists !) some readable and lite document with math formula or other, then convert then as pdf printable output and (if possible also some (x)?html resizable ouput format But perhaps I doesn't understand ConTeXt xml features. Perhaps context is able to generate xml files instead of only reading them? If it is the case, then let me know, as it could solve the html navigator problem. I'm having a totally blank page at the end of the document. The document has a page number, but nothing is on it. This release contains a small surprise, mainly created by Thomas A. Schmitz. When you install it, you can use (automatically unpacked) Apple fonts Hoefler Text, Didot, Optima, Baskerville en Gill Sans in PDFTeX. Setups for LaTeX and ConTeXt are provided. For this to work you need to have fondu installed. When fondu is installed, the fonts are automatically unpacked into the gwTeX tree during configuration (currently after install only). Well, somehow reading this above, it sounds different than I get by the
current settings:

I think the problem lies in the fact that there is one
page= setting that is used both in the \startsectionblock
*and* in the \endsectionblock. Maybe it would be better to
have a pagebefore/pageafter thing, with the default being
pagebefore=yes,pageafter=no.

I have no font instructions in my environment file bookenv.tex. This
component section1 compiles fine and gives me (checking in Acrobat
Professional) a combination of latin modern and computer modern
fonts. However, they hardly match in size. The computer modern font
is much larger than the text in latin modern font.
So, a couple of things.
1. If I wanted to try and see if this would compile with my Lucida
fonts, what should I try.
2. Do you have a couple of suggestions for body font and math font
that would look good together and can you provide me with the font
instructions to include them in my document?
I would be grateful.

BTW, Gerben, your fontforge needs some libs in /lib instead of /usr/ local/lib. I symlinked it, but perhaps your build system is a bit screwed up? Or is it a problem of the FF sources? [NTG-context] Referencing in Project Structure
All, I have: project book in book.tex environment bookenv book.env.tex product chapter1 in chapter1.tex component section1 in section1.tex component section1 in section2.tex component section1 in section3.tex In each section, I would like numbering of theorems, definitions, examples, equations, etc, to be consecutive and include the section number as a prefix. For example, if a theorem happens to appear first, then number it 1.1, the next three equations (1.2), (1.3), and (1.4), the next two examples 1.5 and 1.6, the next two equations (1.7) and (1.8), the next definition 1.9, the next theorem 1.10, the next three equations (1.11), (1.12), and (1.13), the next example 1.14, etc. Then this numbering scheme is reset in the next section. So, if the first thing to appear is a theorem, then it is numbered 2.1, the next definition 2.2, the next three equations (2.3), (2.4), and (2.5), and so on. How do I set this up in bookenv? [NTG-context] beginners manual
Hi, I 'reorganized' (split) the beginners manual and put it in svn, so anyone who is willing to translate can check out a copy. I didn't yet change anything (only the file structure etc) and the styles need a cleanup (more modern setup). Because each chapter now has its own file, we can (as suggested on this list) edit piecewise. Don't start yet. First we need to add/remove things and rewrite chapters. [NTG-context] Showing the page layout
All, I am aware of \showlayout and Patrick's \ShowLayout. In the case of the former, I have this in my environment file: \showlayout \definelayout[myCustomLayout][ header=30mm, footer=20mm, headerdistance=10mm, footerdistance=10mm, topspace=30mm, bottomspace=25mm, height=middle, leftmargin=25mm, rightmargin=30mm, leftmargindistance=10mm, rightmargindistance=10mm, backspace=50mm, width=middle, ] \setuplayout[myCustomLayout] But when I compile, the first page reveals these measurements: header=1.99962 cm %way off footer 1.99962 cm %acceptable headerdistance=0.0 cm %huh? footer distance=0.0 cm %huh? And the list goes on. These don't seem correct at all. Am I misusing this tool? I've been following the discussion on the beginner's manual with interest, biding my time to make my suggestions, thinking about it. One thing that really comes to mind is the huge amount of time I spent as a beginner trying to figure out what settings in the layout, like those above, actually do. And I found the tools for analyzing changes to these layout settings did not help very much. Something that could help the beginniner's manual very much would be a macro that layed the page out accurately with borders around the various areas (as in \showframe) that include all parts of the layout, even if they wander from the printed page.
