Hi Darren I'm a bit behind with the list, but, just to let you know, I'm a guitar player too. I've been playing since I was 14 and have several acoustic guitars and an original '73 Tele Deluxe. I treated myself to a hand made guitar by Martin Cole for my 50th birthday. Martin calls it the Nimbus and basically it's a Martin Co J model shape with cedar top and Indian rosewood back and sides and plays and sounds beautifully. Here's a link to Martin's Nimbus page. The guitar pictured isn't mine, but Martin has kindly included a sound clip of me playing my Nimbus with Fat Freddy's Cat. http://www.martincoleguitars.co.uk/nimbus.html There's a picture (Thanks to Chris Hevey) of me playing mine here: http://mitch.myzen.co.uk/PDML/IMG_4549.jpg Enjoy your guitar journey! If I bought new, I was going to go with Cedar but I tripped across a **gorgeous** 20th Anniversary edition that is Spruce and Maple with a high gloss finish (semi-gloss being the usual finish on a Seagull S6). It's been built on now. Some of the older people still living on this street were here throughout the war, while the bombs were dropping round them. From time to time while people are doing building work an unexploded bomb still turns up. The most recent near to me was on the riverside path about 10 years ago. When you zoom out of the map it's quite shocking to see how many bombs fell in such a short time. We gave as much as we got, of course. B Very interesting Bob. A sad story: My mother's family was living in Devon and they had a little girl from the East End billeted with them as part of the evacuation of children. Her father, a docker, came to visit and she innocently told him to take his elbows off the table as it was bad manners. He said something like I'm not having my daughter growing up with middle class airs and graces. He took the girl back home with him. It's a tale of how some of the old economy in the UK (and elsewhere) has decayed and gone away over the years. For this factory the demise of coal mining in the UK in the wary 80s resulted in the loss of demand for almost all of the market for the explosives produced here. Re: PESOs: Church Clock
Thanks Paul. It was made in 1831. The date's on the quarter dial and it's contemporary with the rest of the clock. One day I'll go back and see if the rope can be moved out of the way to get a cleaner shot. It's a bell rope - the 8 bells are above the clock room and the ringers' room is below. The clock borrows three of the main bells to ring the hours and quarters. I'll have to ask nicely as it would be very bad karma to upset the bell ringers... Spotmatic and MX literature FTAGH
Hi all I'm doing a bit of de-cluttering and found a load of my dad's stuff. His Spotmatics were stolen and he replaced them with a pair of MXs which I now have. There's the following: - Spotmatic F user manual - Spotmatic lenses and accessories brochure - MX brochure, large - MX brochure, small - K series lenses brochure circa 1981 - K series lenses and accessories brochure same date. There's a picture of an MX with a motor drive, bulk film holder and external powerpack. Most impressive. Picture here so you know exactly what's available: http://mitch.myzen.co.uk/PDML/_IGP5788.jpg Free to a good home. Contact me off list if you'd like any or all. Thanks Bob, Yes it's a T9 trainer. A number of single seaters were converted during the 1940s as dual seat trainers to train Seafire pilots in carrier operations. There are only a couple left, both in the UK I think, although there is talk of a team starting manufacturing one from scratch. Up until about 5 years ago it was possible to go up as a passenger (at a very high price!), but it's no longer possible for safety / licencing reasons. I've always been interested in these. Here's one in Galena, Illinois which seems to be multi-layered: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/Galena/slides/_IGP2945.html And here's a fun one in Cockermouth in the English Lake District, not quite as faded, but disappearing fast. It should be listed by English Heritage to preserve it: http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/LakeDistrict2011_/slides/_IGP8938.html Chris -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.
