Thanks for the reply.

It's already set to 500 in LMS and increasing it make no difference. I
cannot see anywhere to set the playlist limit on the MySqueezebox.com
side - I'll search on that part of the forum and raise a post if I find
nothing.

but there is a difference

We do indeed optimize the single character case out. Most likely there

would happen when there is another token. You'd think that would be less

That's wrong. It must be failing to stop them for whatever reason,

Don't know, really. I do indeed see in server.log that it would do the

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test

2018-09-17 Thread Owen Smith

BBC Apps and web site originally only went back 7 days so the external
feed matched. Then everything else got upgraded to 30 days and the
external feed we use got left as it was. I don't believe it was any more
complicated than that, apart from possible complications that third
party(ies) seem to be involved in maintaining the external feed and may
not have wanted to do any work to upgrade it. There may also have been
concerns that some third party equipment couldn't handle 30 days of data
on the external feed, maybe enough new hardware is out there now that
this is no longer a concern?

Personally I suspect some of the third party hardware manufacturers that
use the external feed pushed for this. They probably didn't like that
BBC Apps and web site could do 30 days and their internet radio hardware
players could not.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Tidal stopped working on LMS + SB Touch

2018-09-17 Thread Michael Herger

With regard to what's changed and by whom, I have no clear idea. Maybe
(speculating) Tidal made a change to their streaming settings requiring
SSL/TLS encryption and the by now rather old SW in the Touch cannot cope
with that? (But pCp and LMS server SW can.)

That might very well be the case: the devices themselves can't do
SSL/TLS. But LMS can. By proxying through LMS, the latter functions as
the SSL endpoint, streaming http to the devices. Unfortunately this is
not possible when streaming through mysb.com directly.

It seems to require a more recent glibc than what your system has. This
has nothing to do with Spotty. Please post to another (new) thread

As for Spotty: you might be able to re-surrect it by disable transcoding

BBC strategy is not clear and we have to play it by ear. I think BBC's
2-3yr plans have been subverted by popular expectation of internet.

The feeds Extra used were cut down severely a few years ago and BBC said
it would be discontinued as it was difficult to maintain. The "Latest"
stuff is a hack. Nitro is used by phone/tablet apps but I think T for
acceptable use by 3rd parties are hard to make and police as API has the
potential to overwhelm BBC servers.

BBC used to object to user downloading programs - yet they are now
advocating it with downloadable Podcasts of many programs not just a
select few.

The original feed had only 7 days - I think BBC imposed this at the time
perhaps to give their won web and apps an "edge" or perhaps they had
copyright issues.

Surprisingly, the feed EXtra uses still has more program than the BBC
iPlayer feed mainly from the international services such as Nepal,
Afrique etc. Also Extra can go back further than 30 days. So I think it
is mostly redundant but it requires no effort to maintain.

The log also show very poor performance of the playing BBC link with

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer V1.5.2 beta test

2018-09-17 Thread bpa

I have uploaded an updated version of the BBCiPlayer plugin to handle
the updated BBC feed.

The new version is V1.6.0 is just V1.5.4.5 + fix to recent problem. I
have updated the test (V1.5.4.*) and release (V1.5.3) repo URLs to
enable user update the plugin easily.

For users migrating from 1.5.3 - an additional feature under the "More
menu" is a segment index to "Listen Again" programs and the ability to
jump to a particular segment.

User of older version of 1.4 and 1.5 will have to update their repo URLs
to get V1.6.0.

Up to this week (17Sep18) only 7 days of programming available. The
updated BBC feed has 30 days of programming. Some users may like to have
more than 7 days programming even though it can be cluttered if 30 days
are shown. A level of customisation has been added to the plugin.

The following URL demonstrates menu variants on Radio 4menu. Use the
BBCiPlayer plugin settings to replace the default menu and afterwards
revert.

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/bpaplugins/menu-R4variants-demo.opml

For the technical user who wish to customise their own menus via the
menu.opml file - the keys points are
* the options are added at the end of the
"parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayer::BBCXMLParser?" as shown below.
* the main options are bykey (programs names) and byday (program
schedule). Omit "byday" and there will be no schedule of programmes.
Omit "bykey" and there will be no list of programme.
* There is an option for the maximum number of days to present
"filter:maxdays=15"  - 15 is an example - max is 30 ,default is 7
* if you have multiple menus for the same station you MUST add "nocache"
option.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiplayer play it again list shows 404

For the technical user who wish to customise their own menus via the
menu.opml file - the keys points are
* the options are added at the end of the
"parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayer::BBCXMLParser?" as shown below.
* the main options are bykey (programs names) and byday (program
schedule). Omit "byday" and there will be no schedule of programmes.
Omit "bykey" and there will be no list of programme.
* There is an option for the maximum number of days to present
"filter:maxdays=15"  - 15 is an example - max is 30 ,default is 7
* if you have multiple menus for the same station you MUST add "nocache"
option.
* Options needs to be prefixed by ""
* Triode provided additional filter options but I have never tested

Example of Schedule 15 days - as "bykey" has been omitted.

Code:

  http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/aod/availability/bbc_radio_fourfm.xml;

Ok, thanks. I'll take a closer look on my Touches. Funny though this
problem isn't affecting my SB Classic which also connects to MSB.com and
plays Tidal with no problem at all.

not sure what "Connect enabled" means.
I use the Spotify Windows app to choose "Connect to a device, Listening
On pCP, SB1 & SB2"
All three players are synced.

I use a local LMS server on my home network, not the mysqueezebox.com
(although I believe you need to have Tidal enabled and credentials set
there) for streaming.
The setting I was referring to is on the local LMS server web page,
under Settings, tab Player, select player and the select "Sound" (I
think, I have a swedish version that says "Ljud" instead), There is a
setting for Streaming with two possible choices: Direct or Proxied.
25655

I do not know how you set that if your player is connected to
mysqueezebox.com instead. Somewhere in the settings directly on the
Touch probably.

With regard to what's changed and by whom, I have no clear idea. Maybe
(speculating) Tidal made a change to their streaming settings requiring
SSL/TLS encryption and the by now rather old SW in the Touch cannot cope
with that? (But pCp and LMS server SW can.)

If your player is connected to mysqueezebox.com you don't need to set
the proxy address- your player already knows :-)
But then I never use mysqueezebox.com directly, I always use a local LMS
server on my home network and all my players (2 Touch, 1 pCp) connect to
that. So when when I set proxied streaming for a player it uses my local
LMS.
BTW, my second Touch had the same problem so I changed to proxied
streaming for that one too. Worked fine, Tidal music streamed.

As you noted above, it's difficult to reproduce the "fault" without
ready access to know region-restricted streams. But to at least bed
down when I am so far, I did a systematic run though of all my ways of
accessing Beeb radio via LMS, both with and without VPN, using R3 as the
test bed. I also checked beforehand that this laptop, sitting in Paris,
can get direct website access to almost all BBC TV and radio with the
VPN active, and a lot of it without the VPN. But, without the VPN,
region restrictions - particularly on TV stuff, do kick in.

Anyway here - at some length! - is what I found. I'll post a separate
message with the assorted error logs relating to this test series.

So, via my LMS setup I have 5 ways of trying to get R3 streams, and I
can also try each of the 5 ways with and without the VPN.

Thanks, that put me on the right track.
I had Direct streaming set for the Touch and when I changed that to
Proxied - no problem, nice music filled the room.

(I note that the piCoreplayer (ver 4.0.0) on my RPi 3B has played Tidal
all along with Direct streaming set.)

Thank you for keeping this wonderful echo system alive! And thank you
Logitech for continued funding for the basic infrastructure, appreciated
:-)

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Annouce: Squeeze Control, a squeezebox remote app, is now available for Android

2018-09-17 Thread RonM

I posted this in the Windows UWP thread, wrong place. So re-posting
here:

SqueezeCntrl has started to revert to the primary player when the
Android device has blanked screen or gone to sleep.

My main player is a Transporter; a secondary player is a Touch. I often
use the Touch for close listening away from the rest of the family.

When I select the Touch and am listening to music, my mobile (on which
SqueezeCntrl is located) will after a few minutes blank screen or go to
sleep. When I start it up, SC has reverted to the default player, the
Transporter, and I have to re-select the Touch, go to My Music and
select the current track to get back to where I need to be. This is
quite annoying.

What can I do to fix? I can't seem to find anything in the controls.

I, too, tried the Angry Goat info address, and got the "can't connect"
message.

OK.
And, to remind you, those SBT's also ran fine until about a week ago.

That's odd. I was able to play stuff on my Touch, as well as Radio or

Also I don't understand how this could be a "new player only" problem,

Currently the opml entries parser attributes have an option to sort
byday and reverse order - I'd just add one more to say have max number
of days (excl Today) - so 7 would be same as now.

Code:

  parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayer::BBCXMLParser?byday"

I use this sort of filter on station Id in Extra plugin

Code:

  parser="Plugins::BBCiPlayerExtra::ExtraAtoZJSONParser?filter:stationid=radio1"

The same features such as byday and reverse could have been done by
settings but although people ask for settings they rarely use them
afterwards.
On request I've implemented settings in the past, then accidentally
broken them - and nobody complained !

I take your points. It hadn't occurred to me that one might achieve it
by defining an additional maxdays filter in the opml. Would you envisage
simply 'growing' the opml with, say, a set of 7 day listing entries ?

A new Preference setting means updating Settings.pm, the Setting html
and add setting migration and then checking that setting migration works
OK. I find settings a pain especially as user then twiddle them when an
issue arises.

May I request a user configurable 'day limit' ? Reason is that my poor
old SheevaPlug will totally grind to a halt with 30 day listings. As
might some other older NAS.

I've been leery in the past of adjusting XMLin in case there are
unexpected 'side effects' on other parts of the structure. But I haven't
looked at it in ages, and I always forget quite how it works.

I did start to look at the BBC regular schedule listings. There's a nice
bit of JSON embedded in the html at present, which could be helpful.
Perhaps food for future thought.

Code:

  #!/usr/bin/perl

  use LWP::Simple;
  use JSON::PP;
  use Data::Dump;

  my $channel_id = 'p00fzl7j'; # Radio 4 FM
  my $schedule_date = '2018/w37';
  $schedule_date = 'last_week';
  $schedule_date = 'this_week';
  my $url = "https://www.bbc.co.uk/schedules/${channel_id}/${schedule_date};;

  my $html = get($url);

mrw and bpa - you guys are brilliant. One never gets anything like the
same support or rapid response from vendors or suppliers, even when it's
their own screw-up. My good old Squeezebox system, ever growing in both
size and complexity, continues to outperform anything else on the market
and take, in it's stride, all that the BBC et al throw at it.

And all because of the sterling efforts of you folks.

I am very, very grateful to you all.

Unfortunately there's more to it. The aod availability xml document has
undergone some changes/enhancements.

A) The "Icon" structure has changed in a manner that breaks Jive
browsing. I didn't spot this last night.
B) The listing now includes about a month's worth of programmes, which
is too much for me. A week suits me.

The attached patch to BBCXMLParser.pm implements changes that:

Fix the icon, & Jive browsing issue,
Limit the programmes to the last seven days.

I've also uploaded my current BBCXMLParser.pm.

I hope my patch is sufficient. Something else may turn up, though...

To add to my own post ...

I found this in the server log from yesterday (Tidal plugin set to DEBUG
in logging):

Code:

[18-09-16 21:53:31.6518]
Slim::Plugin::WiMP::ProtocolHandler::handleDirectError (95) Direct stream
failed: [403] HTTP/1.0 403 Forbidden

(but only one occurrence strangely enough, I played many tracks)

Maybe it is similar to the BBC plugin woes? The stream suppliers
have disallowed the use of non-SSL/TLS and SSL2/3 & TLS1 since all these
are vulnerable to the Heartbleed exploit?

I'll attach my server log.

So am I.

I have noticed that Tidal refuses to stream to my Touch, but yesterday
evening my pCp (ver 4.0.0) on RPi 3B worked, but with some delay (4-6
seconds?). I have also noticed that my Bluesound streamer (NAD M50)
plays Tdal okay, but also some delay before the stream starts.

My Touch says the same as everyone else (I think): "connection reset by
local host", however I do not know if the local host refers to the Touch
or to my LMS server (latest nightly, on Ubuntu 18.04.1). Just before the
message about "connection reset" appears, a text briefly shows on the
top of the Touch screen: first "Connecting" then "getting stream
information" (my translation, it actually speaks swedish :-)).

Perhaps it is capacity or performance problem with tidal's servers?
Perhaps it could be mitigated by extending som buffer on the Touch - is
that possible?
