Some people may prefer the existing sort so an option to select by ascending or descending year may be preferable. There are three instances for sorting on 'Year' - the following seems most logical; _Artist,_Year,_Album_ First sort 'Artist' ascending, then sort 'Year' descending, then 'Album' ascending _Year,_Album_ Sort 'Year' descending _Year,_Artist,_Album_ First sort 'Year'' descending, then sort 'Artist' ascending, then sort 'Album' ascending So for the instance you gave (matching _Year,_Album)_ it would become "2011 A, 2010 A, 2010 B" But leave the original as an option as well "2010 A, 2010 B, 2011 A At least that's my take on it. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
@cpd73 In some 'Music sources' screens it's possible to sort in various ways using the A-Z button. An easy example with 'Albums' but there are many more places and it's a very useful function. Is it possible to do a reverse sort? I'm thinking of those sorts which include 'Year', - 'Year, Artist, Album', 'Artist, Year, Album', 'Year. Album' - so that the newest can appear at the top rather than at the bottom. This seems to be more useful, at least for me and at least more flexible. I think this is probably part of core LMS code so if coding is needed it's probably down to @mherger... I'm using the latest LMS 8.2 nightly - just seen that you've been updating Material so have installed the dev version. If I understand you correctly I mean favourite the main listing; i.e. from the first result returned by the search. In the example I gave, 'The Life Scientific', the first result back is effectively a container for all the episodes of 'The Life Scientific'. Material can already favourite an individual podcast - play a podcast and select 'Track/More' and in the left pane there's an option 'Save to Favourites'. Looking at favourites.opml the container URL is... https://podcasts.files.bbci.co.uk/b015sqc7.rss As a test I put that URL into the Podcast plugin search field in Material and it came back with the container so it looks like the Default Skin is somehow finding the URL of the rss feed and allowing it to be set as a favourite. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 8.20 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macOS Big Sur WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Focal Electra 1027 Be II Speakers bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
@cpd73 I've just started using the Podcast plugin and it made me notice a couple of things that Material doesn't appear able to do. Podcasts = When the Podcast plugin is used to carry out a search there seems to be no way of making a favourite other than playing the track/podcast and using the 'track/more' (three dots), then selecting 'Save to Favourites'. That in itself is useful for saving a single podcast but operates in a different way to the default skin. The default skin only allows saving a favourite direct from the initial search not from playing an individual podcast. It may be clearer if I give an example of what I'm trying to do... 1. Using Material go into 'Apps/Podcasts' and search for 'The Life Scientific' - it probably returns 3 items but I'll only refer to BBC Radio 4 'The Life Scientific' - this is at the top level and is similar to finding a music album. With Material the only option is to select 'The Life Scientific' - a number of podcasts are returned. Playing one of the podcasts and using 'track/more' allows the podcast to be saved to favourites - the default skin doesn't allow this so it's a useful addition to Material. 2. Using the Default Skin again go into 'Apps/Podcasts', search for 'The Life Scientific'. In this case each of the returned items (top level) can have a favourite created. This effectively means that the original search is saved, something that can't be done with Material. Folders Next, creating and using folders in 'Home/Favourites'. I want to keep the favourites menu manageable so I created a new folder 'Podcasts'. With Material there appears to be no way of moving an existing favourite track/podcast into the new folder. It can only be done in a roundabout way by using the default skin via 'Home/Favourites/Edit' and then dragging the track/podcast into the new folder. As far as I can see this isn't possible with Material. I hope that all makes some kind of sense! I have no idea if it's possible to get Material to 'Favourite' the initial Podcast search or to move saved favourites into a folder or if it's worth the effort. Maybe it's a limitation of the Classic Skin that Material is based on. It can all be done using a combination of Material and the Default Skin but it would be nice to be able to do it all in one place - Material. Problems I had in the past stopped me from using the MS Store version and I went over to the manual install version to delay start-up of SqueezeLite-X on reboot. I used a piece of software called 'Configure Startup Delayer by r2 Studios'. If I remember correctly that was back around v1.8 of SqueezeLite-X, maybe before, but I can't remember the exact reason for doing so; I think it was something to do with SqueezeLite-X not picking up host name and output device if LMS Server was not fully started - LMS needed just over a minute after reboot to start properly. If a delay was introduced before SqueezeLite-X started everything worked correctly so I've retained that delay ever since. Your reply above got me thinking and made me investigate more fully - it appears the start-up delay or the delay software itself was causing both problems. I've taken SqueezeLite-X out of the delay software, have it set to 'Auto Start On Log in' and I'll monitor its behaviour and get back to you if there are any more problems. So far after, 5 reboots, the system tray icon remains visible on the taskbar and clicking the icon before running it in a browser doesn't cause it to quit. If the problems return I'll get back to you and if it remains stable I'll have a go with the MS Store version again. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 8.20 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macOS Big Sur WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Focal Electra 1027 Be II Speakers bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
@cpd73 I made a silly mistake setting ratings for all tracks on the wrong Album, went back in to set back to zero only to discover that this doesn't appear to be possible, at least for me. It can only be set back to a half star at minimum - obviously I'm using the 1-10 method of rating so can set half stars. Checked this out on a number of occasions on other albums to make sure it wasn't just a one off but it isn't. Seems that ratings can't be set back to zero. Purely a guess, is it possibly an arithmetic error in coding; eg >0 instead of >=0? 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 8.20 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macOS Big Sur WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Focal Electra 1027 Be II Speakers bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
I'm using v2.7.17.0 64bit SqueezeLite-X as a direct install, i.e. not the MS Store version. There appear to be a couple of bugs, one longstanding, the other started with v2.7.16.0 For a long time now when SqueezeLite-X starts and the sysyem tray icon is clicked SqueezeLitr-X just shuts down and has to be relaunched manually. So no chance of looking at any logs as SqueezeLite-X simply isn't there! If I launch LMS in a web browser first SqueezLite-X carries on running and with any subsequent use of the system tray icon it carries on running. As I say, this behaviour has been going on for as long as I can remember. The other more recent issue (since v2.7.16.0) is that the system tray icon 'hides' after a Windows 10 reboot when configured in settings to remain visible on the taskbar. It remains visible all the while during a Windows session when configured to do so but always becomes hidden on reboot. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 8.20 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macOS Big Sur WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Focal Electra 1027 Be II Speakers bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
@cpd73... Hi Craig, I recall you saying elsewhere in this thread that Material is based on the Classic Skin so my guess is that there are limitations to how Advanced Search works with Material. I'm just asking the following out of curiosity. I've just tried Advanced Search via Material Skin instead of Default Skin and have noticed that it doesn't display all items returned from a search - there's a limit of 10 albums and 10 tracks only, although the total number albums and tracks is displayed numerically at the top of returned search. Is this an absolute limitation or is it possible to display all items searched for? The Default Skin allows search by Song or by Album. Is it possible to select for Song or Album rather than having both returned? It's also possible with Default Skin to 'Save as' either a 'Saved Search' or 'As Library View'. Is this possible with Material? Not a problem if none of this is possible, just idle thoughts really. There may be something already there that I'm missing - which wouldn't surprise me :). 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 7.92 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macos Hich Sierra WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Behringer DEQ2496 Linn Isobarik DMS bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I've found the Sugarcube entries in My Music to be useful as a way of monitoring if the MusicIP/Sugarcube combo are doing what is expected. There are lots of options with Sugarcube and it's not always easy to see how to set it up. I had a problem with libraries on LMS and decided to clear cache through the Control Panel in Windows 10... That kind of worked as expected with all third party plugins having to be re-selected. Except that the Trackstat plugin had disappeared from the repository along with all of Erlands plugins. I recalled that this was mentioned by another user in the last couple of days. Is this a permanent loss or will they be coming back? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
For quite a few months I've been experiencing several crashes each day of through a number of different versions of Squeezelite-X. Each crash was caused by an inability of SqueezeLite-X to resolve 'Host Name' resulting in a yellow triangle error. The only way to recover was by rebooting windows but the error always recurred after a few hours. It appears to have been resolved by an LMS nightly commit on 29th January and I'm guessing it was the following TLS change on that date by Michael that made the difference. I kept the same LMS version running for several days just to make sure but it seems to have done the trick. Hopefully I haven't spoken to soon!' Fix a crasher on Windows when TLS handshaking would time out' (https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/d1ead103d426f8e1ae66bd3eaafac03890e9f042) Seems to be working for at least LMS v7.93 and v8.0 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 7.92 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macos Hich Sierra WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Behringer DEQ2496 Linn Isobarik DMS bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

However, when attempting to run them both installs display the DLL error mentioned a few posts back - so retried 2.4.28 and that runs without the error. I decided to uninstall the legacy version and try the MS Store version again in the hope the the newest version was available - it was and Squeezelite-X behaviour is now back to what it was. This will auto-start any app... Copy the app shortcut to C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp For SqueezeLite copy its shortcut to above directory and reboot. But... Squeezelite startup needs a delay so the above auto-start won't provide that delay. I use a paid for program called Startup Delayer by r2 Studios which I already had - I think it costs $20. Drag the shortcut to the section labelled "Delayed" then set a manual delay - I use 1 minute but it could be shorter. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 7.92 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macos Hich Sierra WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Behringer DEQ2496 Linn Isobarik DMS bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=108550 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X
Hi Greg, I've found a couple of issues with the most recent versions of SqueezeLite-X on my system. v2.4.24.0 The recent application speedup seems to have caused issues with how SqueezeLite-X synchronises with LMS. SqueezeLite-X now starts too quickly - it starts before LMS and causes LMS not to register the squeezelite player. The screen image in post #1072 by SBFan shows this error as "Logitech Media Server not found...". In this case after "Apply" is pressed, after a short delay the player is recognised but my system is headless so it causes me practical issues. I was using the MS Store version but now I've switched over to the Legacy version so that I can introduce a startup delay of 60 seconds before SqueezeLite-X starts - the delay solves this issue. v2.4.25.0 The introduction of "Start Minimised" as an option causes the SqueezeLite-X process to terminate after a few seconds of starting. Disabling "Start Minimised" stops the process termination but obviously means that the SqueezeLite-X window remains open on screen. @cpd73 I have Material v1.1.0 installed from its github branch but that branch seems to have disappeared - it's still showing up in changelog though. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
You may already be aware of this but if not... To get Trackstat ratings (and other stats) to display you may have to go into LMS 'Settings/Advanced/Trackstat/Settings Section' then select 'Backup/Restore/Clear'. Try 'Restore from File' and/or 'Refresh Statistics After Rescan' - take care to read the contents of the info button to ensure the correct file (probably the most recent backup) is selected with 'Restore from File'. The database can take quite some time to update so results will not be immediate. After a decent time delay - sometimes hours, a reboot or rescan can help. Works for me but your mileage may vary. 2 x Touch 2 x Radio 2 x Boom 1 x Intel-NUC server/squeezelite running LMS 7.92 (from nightlies) on Windows 10 1 X Odroid-XU4 server/squeezelite running LMS 7.91 on Ubuntu 16.04 1 x iMac server running macos Hich Sierra WaveIO USB into Lavry DA-10 DAC Starfish Pre-amp : Based on NAIM NAC 72 Heavily modified NAIM NAP 250 Power-amp Behringer DEQ2496 Linn Isobarik DMS bobertuk's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=30376 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=109624 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
I have a vague recollection this may have already been discussed so I apologise in advance if it has been. Is it possible to get Material to remember the last selected player? It often defaults to the first player in the list, which for me is a group player 'All'. As the name suggests, it puts music through all of my active players (5 of them) at once which can be a bit loud when unexpected! I've been trying out Radio Paradise on Material 0.80 and I don't get any delay with new images displaying as tracks change. mysqueezebox.com has been blocked on my system with a firewall rule and LMS is set to local resizing - it's been like that for at least 2 years if I remember correctly. Looking at the changelog for v0.81 it seems like the changes will have no little or impact on my setup. Obviously your can't predict what will happen to all the different systems out there but in your estimation do you think that's likely to change when I update to v0.81? Don't know if it's relevant but Spotify is fine on 0.80 as well. I'm using Windows 10 (1903) and iOS, occasionally iMac. @craig I've been following the conversation about Radio Paradise image rendering delays and just seen in the Material github changelog that you have defaulted to mysqueezebox.com for resizing images from external sources. Is this of any consequence for those of us who have blocked mysqueezebox.com using the --nomysqueezebox startup parameter or have blocked it via router firewall rules? @craig, Would it be possible to put a separator between Group Players and real Players in the player selection drop-down list? Just like the one before 'Synchronise' and 'Manage Players'. Perhpas you need to re-set the is in Material's > settings? Over the last couple of days I've tried all sorts of settings and tried hard to 'like' Lists rather than Grid but for me on a desktop PC Lists just don't provide the best of experiences. Lists are good on a mobile phone but not, in my view, on a desktop. Would it be possible in settings to have a switch to choose either the old Grid display method or the newer List method? On my PC (Intel NUC) Grid display was fast and responsive with very little lag when moving through any of the Grid displays. New Music displays as Grid if I set New Music display limit to 299 but where you say "Albums displayed in A..Z groups, or under Artists, can still use the grid (if 300 or less)" I don't find that to be the case! For me anything more than 99 always displays as a List. If it really was 300 or less in all cases that would work for me but in reality it's less than 100 for anything other than New Music. The max for New Music by the way is 299 - I guess its a >, <, >= issue in code but that's just me being pedantic ;-) Favourites star icons are back in TrackStat - thank you. @Craig... Since installing version 0.50 from github the TrackStat 'star' icon doesn't display correctly. When browsing by Album in order to mark all tracks as favourites the star icon isn't displayed but the underlying code appears instead. See attached jpg... 27103 The star icon is displayed correctly everywhere else. Also... What happened to the Grid display for Albums, New Music etc? All I get since that update is a list display! I think it may be something to do with 'textkey' as suggested by @mherger in the "'textkey' for app generated lists?" thread. I much prefer the grid display than the list display. Last github update nearly has Trackstat sorted. I updated from github at around 9pm UK time after "Add 'showRatingButton' to 'data'" appeared in github commit. Not sure how else to pinpoint the exact update! Add rating for single track now works. Add rating to all album tracks almost works... Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Material Skin
Trackstat ratings using half stars works... sometimes! Mostly, when pressing 'APPLY' to apply rating, the webpage hangs and does nothing. The only way to clear the page is to shut down the browser. Checking back by re-running 'Material Skin' or the 'Default Skin' shows that no ratings have been applied. Server log attached... 26724 Look towards the bottom of the log for Material errors Setting ratings for single tracks is something I don't do - Albums only for me. I wouldn't worry about it for now. Something for later on maybe when Material Skin is more mature. SugarCube settings are 'per player' and are set in the LMS settings page. The 3 SugarCube entries in 'My Music' WebUI are 'mostly' displaying information about how SugarCube decides which track to select next, so its mostly for information only. Generally speaking it only needs to be looked at occasionally to ensure SugarCube is running. It does run when using Material Skin even though there's no visual indication that it's doing so. When SugarCube fails playback just stops or random tracks are selected - it's usually fairly obvious and needs to be tracked down in settings. Thinking about it more there's not really any need to have it in Material so don't worry about it. Hi cpd73, I've been following this thread from the start and now use the excellent Material Skin as my default. Thank you for putting in the time and effort to carry on moving LMS forwards and helping keep the whole project alive - it's much appreciated. There are a few things I use that aren't available through Material Skin though and I have to switch over to the LMS Default to be able to use them - Spicefly Sugarcube, Inguz, Just Covers. I'm fairly sure it would NOT be possible to expose Inguz because it needs Internet Explorer and Silverlight to function fully in the GUI but it would be a nice touch to have Spicefly Sugarcube and Just Covers exposed - not sure if that's even possible! I do often use ratings in Trackstat which you have exposed but only at track level. Would it be possible to have it operate at Album level as well? The way it operates with the Default Skin is that, when asked to rate an Album, it simply sets all tracks in that Album to the same chosen rating. Obviously this could be done one track at a time or by switching back to the default skin but this is tedious and it would be useful to be able to rate whole Albums directly in Material Skin.. [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIP Mixer on mac - offline analysis
I have MusicIP Mixer running native on my iMac so that LMS can use Spicefly Sugarcube to provide a music mix. Most of my collection consists of 'flac' files which have the analysis archived so MIP Mixer picks them up without a problem. I have about 300 mp3 files which also have their analysis archived but... The mac version (v1.8) doesn't seem able to read the mp3 archived analysis so these show as waiting for analysis. When analysing the tracks in Windows, MIP Mixer (v1.91b) first looks for the online database, can't find it because its been offline for several years, then proceeds to analyse directly in the MIP Mixer software. The mac version doesn't do that! After looking for the online database, which fails, MIP Mixer just shuts down and doesn't attempt to analyse in software. I have removed settings for access to the no longer functioning remote server! Does anyone know if it's possible to force the mac version to analyse in software?
