Hi Sam,

not sure if it relates to your newer version of plugin.pm but LMS is no
longer controlling the amps. I never got around to testing it out when I
first put it in and just in the past few days I noticed that when
turning my LMS players off the related amp doesn't turn off. I explored
and found that they do not turn the amps on, or control the amp volume,
just the volume in the player varies. I just went to put the original
plugin.pm back to see if it fixes it and it has disappeared out of the
DenonAvpControl folder in InstalledPlugins! (I had renamed it
pluginOLD.pm thinking it would stay there if I needed it. Perhaps I
should go back to your first version and try that?

Regards, David

Very convenient to control the system volume from within Material skin!

I had incorrectly created the zip file that contained all the plugin

to trickle into play so try tomorrow for sure.

I'm running a docker from lmscommunity/logitechmediaserver:stable
Version is currently: Version: 8.1.2 - 1613284909 @ Sun Feb 14
09:06:07 CET 2021

I've not been messing around with it myself, but the docker seems to be
updating itself pretty frequently. I noticed the problem on the 13th,
but it might have been existing for a few days or a week before then.
When looking at Settings / plugins it showed the Denon AVP controller
without a tick and the message that it had failed to load.
Sorry I can't give you much more info.

Hopefully this won't conflict with the real fix when it turns up, but
cd into the folder
config/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/DenonAvpControl_2_1/DenonAvpControl
(you'll have to find where that is on your system - for me it's in the
Docker folder - you'll know it's right because when you "ls" you'll see
the Plugin.pm file and some others)
>From there, *cp -r * ../../* should copy all those files back up to the
correct directory. Restart the service and it should be OK. It was for
me anyway. Can't guarantee it will work for everyone...

Good luck!

Hi,
I've been having a problem that the plugin wasn't loading and it's taken
a bit of working out. I tried removing the repository, restarting the
server, adding it back in etc. but that didn't work.
Left it for a day or so and I've seen that you've been releasing some
new versions, so carried on trying to find the problem.
Digging around in the logs I found this:

Code:

[21-02-14 13:32:17.4145] Slim::bootstrap::tryModuleLoad (286) Warning:
Module [Plugins::DenonAvpControl::Plugin] failed to load:
Can't locate Plugins/DenonAvpControl/Plugin.pm in @INC (you may need to
install the Plugins::DenonAvpControl::Plugin module)

Looking on my server (containered) in the config directory, I found that
the plugin files were buried under extra folders - the Plugin.pm file
was actually in

*config/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/DenonAvpControl_2_1/DenonAvpControl/*
Copying all the files (including the HTML folder) up to the right folder
depth seems to have fixed it for now at least.

I don't know if the problem is in the repository installer or just in my
setup. Hopefully this can either help you track down the issue, or help
others with the same issue.

Jon.

I'd like to get in if you think it would be useful. It would sync the
client volume to the AVR each time the player is paused, regardless of
whether the volume synching option is selected. This would allow the
user to sync the volume manually without incurring the added network
overhead of synching at each track change, and would be useful to people
like me who sometimes use the AVR remote for volume changes. It's a
simple change and I could get it to you later today. What do you think?

I was able to find the time tonight to try out the updated plugin.pm
file. I used the web gui, Squeezer on Android, iPeng on an iOS 14.x iPad
Pro, and a SB Touch players native UI.

All worked flawlessly. I am really amazed and appreciative for all that
@SamY has done here. This has been on my ToDo list for years but never
bubbled up to the top. Now I can use my phone instead of hunting down
the iPad. I also don't have to panic when my AVP gets driven to 100%
(-10 in my case) and attempts to blow my speakers out.

I have updated the plugin to version 2.1 and as soon as I find my notes
it will get updated in the repository so all can get the update.

Once again thank you for taking this on.

I have great news! I went over to the Logitech/slimserver Github site
and started browsing the Client.pm module in the slimserver/Slim/Player
folder to see what other callback subroutines are defined for the client
object besides the ones currently used by the plugin, such as name() to
retrieve the client name. Just for the heck of it, I did a search for
for "volume()" and voila! There it was! So I coded a call to it to see
what it returned when processing an incremental volume change and it
turns out that it returns the current player volume AFTER the
incremental change, which means it can be handled exactly the same way
as an absolute volume change simply by using the value returned by the
$client->volume() call instead of the passed argument (+2, -5, etc.).
So I made the code changes and it works perfectly! With this and the
other changes I made, the client and AVR volumes should always remain in
sync as long as the AVR volume is not changed manually, even without
using the client volume sync plugin option, and so far my testing is
confirming it. I have attached this latest version of Plugin.pm and
hope that you can test it on some other client apps. There shouldn't be
any need to get debug output unless you're curious. I'm pretty sure that
incremental volume changes should work with any client now, and there is
no requirement to use client volume syncing unless, like me, you
sometimes use your AVR's remote to change the volume. By the way, my
Denon is a 2010 AVR-3311CI, so possibly older than yours. By the way, I
promise not to upload another 'new and improved' version for at least a
few days. ;)

I'll turn on debug too and try out the various devices to see if I can
see a pattern.

Hopefully it will be obvious and then I can put in some simple logic to
figure out what the intent is. The problem with a setting is that I
think its client dependent.

My Denon is many years old and yours is probably much newer and it's
also possible that some of the functions are supported differently
between the systems. So a bit of logic may be required to see what
might be supported or not.

Thanks, Chris. In terms of the volume synchronization, I'd like to more
fully support the client volume up/down protocol, which comes in as a
'+n' or '-n' volume change request, where n essentially represents a
percentage that the volume should be adjusted. For example, the LMS web
client sends a +2 or -2 when the speaker icons are clicked, whereas the
Squeezer Android app sends a +/-5. I'm not sure about other apps but I
suspect they act similarly. Running with debug on could verify that.
Ideally, I could simply calculate the new absolute volume to send the
AVR by using a simple formula but, in order to do it, I would need to
know the current client volume setting (0-100), which I don't think is
available to the plugin. I planned on looking into that further. It
seems to me that it could be maintained in the plugin as some sort of
persistent global variable, which would be ideal. Beyond that, there's
always the issue of how to handle volume changes made directly to the
AVR via the volume control or remote, which I often do when listening in
my living room, but the client sync option helps minimize that problem.
The only alternative I can think of would be to set a timer to query the
AVR volume every so often but I don't like the idea of the additional
network traffic.

Sorry for rambling on, Chris. Let me know how your testing goes, and
have a great weekend.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-02-12 Thread SamY

Hello all. I am pleased to announce that I have completed my
modifications to Plugin.pm in support of safe and accurate volume
management, and I would like to get some feedback. My testing so far is
very encouraging. Following is a summary of the changes that are
incorporated in the attached module, which replaces the versions I
uploaded previously:

1. When client volume syncing is selected in the plugin options, the
syncing will be done not only at track changes but also when playback is
paused. This gives the user an easy way to re-sync the client after
making volume changes via the AVR remote OR by using the new incremental
volume change support outlined below.

2. A bug which often caused the client volume to spike to 100% when
syncing to the AVR volume has been fixed.

3. A bug which prevented setting or syncing the AVR volume to very low
levels has been fixed. Setting the client volume to 0 will now
effectively mute the AVR via the MV00 command.

4. Incremental volume adjustments made from the client via up/down
buttons, such as the hardware volume controls on the Squeezer app or the
speaker icons on either end of the volume slider in the web client,
which previously resulted in error messages or wild volume jumps, are
now supported as simple +/-0.5dB volume requests (MVUP/MVDOWN) to the
AVR. The downside of the current implementation is that using this
method can cause the client volume display and the AVR volume to get out
of sync. Consequently, this feature is only supported when client volume
syncing is selected since otherwise the client and AVR volume would
never get back in sync. This means that it is only available for the
MAIN zone, as client volume syncing is not supported for other zones.
Let me say at this time that I highly recommend using the syncing option
for the MAIN zone. In fact, I can't think of any reason not to. In the
future, I hope that this feature can be more fully supported in terms of
keeping the client and AVR volume in sync at all times but, for now, it
is better than nothing, at least in my opinion.

So that's it. I hope that these changes are as useful to other users as
they are to me and, if so, maybe they can be incorporated into the
release version. Please let me know what you think and, if you are able
to do some testing, feedback would be appreciated.

Thanks.

It's already there. Look for:
"DENON AVP/AVR Control (v2.0)"

Squeeze CTRL controls volume by various methods depending on preference
selections of which there are several choices. I use finger swipe up and
down on the album graphic which also then opens up the slider bar left
to right which can then be used.
I have had the issue of jump to 100% volume at track change when vol
sync is selected on one of my amps (AVR-2113), but I note that I am
using main zone on that amp. The other amp never had the problem but I
am using zone 2 with that amp, so I have vol sync selected for it.

The issue of not syncing with the player controls existed prior to your
original changes, haven't had a chance yet to test your V2, but will
shortly.

Sort of. It fixes a problem where the client volume can spike up to 100%
when trying to sync to the AVR volume. This commonly happens
at track changes when "Enable synching the volume" is selected in the
plugin player settings. I don't have Squeeze CTRL and I don't want to
pony up the $6 when I'm happy using Squeezer, which is free. Does
Squeeze CTRL change the volume via up/down arrow buttons, a slider, or
both? If it uses up/down buttons, they wouldn't have worked at all
before the version you have now. Now they should cause the AVR volume to
be changed in 0.5dB increments in either direction. If they are used
extensively for volume changes, the client volume display will
eventually get out of sync with the player but that problem can be
minimized by using the "Enable synching the volume" option, which will
re-sync them at every track change (now without causing the client
volume to spike to 100%). ;)
Is this problem synching the player controls something new that started
with my original changes? If so, I would ask that you try the new
version and see if it takes care of it. All in all, volume control
management should be much more stable and predictable with these
changes.

Attached is my latest version of Plugin.pm, which contains the fix for
client volume spiking to 100% when attempting to sync to the AVR. I am
confident that it should fix the problems many have been experiencing in
this area. Feedback is welcomed. If you downloaded the version I posted
yesterday, please replace it with this one. Thanks.

You might want to hold off on your testing for a bit, Chris. I just ran
into the situation you are having with the volume going to 100% using
Squeezer and I believe I see where the problem is. It's the same problem
that user gnackwatschn reported above and my debug log looks a lot like
his. It appears that the calculation in routine updateSqueezeVol() is
coming up with a bogus high number when the AVR reports a 3-digit volume
such as MV395. I will code a fix for it and do some testing tomorrow.

Well the problem does not occur with the web interface or iPeng.

The other "client" that has this problem is the UI on the Touch when set
to 100%. I never pursued that but maybe your fix will help there too.

The way I see it, the problem isn't in Squeezer. It's in Plugin.pm. The
good news is it's an easy fix. I'm actually not sure why it doesn't
cause problems with other clients other than maybe they are smart enough

Hi Chris (and David). I also use Squeezer on Android and it works great
except for the volume up/down using the phone's volume controls, which
this change makes possible to use. Yes, the plugin option to sync with
the AVR after each track is what I was referring to in my post and it

I am interested in what you have done. It works OK on iPeng but I have
also had issues with Squeezer on Android using 100% volume. Maybe this
will help.

BTW one of the options in the plugin will resync the player with the amp
after every track. Not sure if that would help in your volume syncing

Hi Sam, I have been using Denon AVP Control for years now and rely on it
heavily. I am using it with LMS to control two Denon AVRs, a 2113 and a
X3000. Happy to give them a trial to see how your mods are working.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-02-09 Thread SamY

Hello all. I have been using this plugin for a couple of years now and
love the functionality it offers. Coincidentally, I have recently been
testing some changes to plugin.pm which fix both problems reported by
DAR. The simpler of the two, which takes care of the occasional log
message "Can't call method "name" on an undefined value", involves
moving one line. The other fix adds a few lines of code to handle
incremental client volume change requests, which sometimes result in
large volume jumps on volume up requests and always throws an error for
taking a square root of a negative number on volume down requests. The
change causes all incremental volume changes that are received in the
form of +n or -n from LMS clients to be sent to the AVR as MVUP or
MVDOWN commands, which change the volume +/-.5dB, rather than absolute
MVnn(n) commands. I have tested it with both the LMS web client and
Squeezer with good results thus far. The only drawback is that the
client volume display can get out of sync with the AVR volume after
awhile, but this is a minor annoyance that can be minimized by enabling
volume synching at track changes in the player settings. If anyone is
interested in testing with other client apps or AVR's, let me know. I'm
not sure whether the MVUP/MVDOWN commands are universally supported but
they work very well on my old AVR-3311ci.

AFAIK it is not possible to play multiple dlna streams to a Denon
receiver at the same time. This might be the reason, why it only shows

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-01-05 Thread gnackwatschn

Hi everyone,

I have installed the plugin on my LMS 8.1.0 under Raspbian Buster. The
configuration of my AVR (DENON S750H) was easy and nearly everything
works fine (on / off, quick settings, volume changing...).

Unfortunatly there is one show-stopper: While playing a playlist or a
TuneIn radio station the volume of my AVR suddenly jumps from my
selected volume to maximum volume. Most of the time this happens, when a
new song starts or when I change the radio station.

This is how I manually reproduced the issue (see also attached logfile):

1. I manually set the Volume to 8% in LMS Web Interface -> AVR Volume
changed to 22.5
2. I click on "next song" in the Web Interface
3. LMS Volume jumps to 100% -> AVR Volume jumps to 80 (Maximum)

Are there any suggestions why this happens and what I can do to prevent
this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Thanks, Peter. Just saw your message after I had already replied to
Chris. So far, DenonSerial is working well for me, both on the LMS web
page and with the Squeeze Ctrl app. I also appreciate being able to add
extra commands after PWON, since I may need to change inputs on the
receiver when I start up my squeezebox. I'll let you know if I notice
any issues, but I really appreciate both of your efforts!

For some reason Squeezer does not work for me like iPeng does at 100% on
my SB Touch. It jumps around and often sends out 100% volume. Maybe I
need to look into why.

I was kind of surprised because I suspect it just communicates directly
with the LMS server and using the web interface works great.

Good. There may be a nuance in how Peter wrote his code that helps here.

DAR,

For Android, try the app Squeezer - it allows changing the Squeezebox
volume when the SB output is fixed at 100%. Plays well with iPeng and my
DenonSerial plugin.

Have you tried my DenonSerial plugin? I've always been under the
impression that Chris' AVP control was nicer, but if it's giving you
trouble, you might want to give mine a try. As for the web UI softer
button, I think my plugin might take a different approach because I
don't think it has any such problem. IIRC (and I haven't touched the
code much in the last decade), my plugin always deals with absolute
volume levels so there's no square root of negative problem. E.G. my
plugin allows others to decrease the fictional SB volume and then
calculates what the Denon volume should be, and connects to the Denon to
effect that.

And yes the plugin name is a misnomer: it can connect to the Denon over
TCP/IP (I use a Raspberry Pi with ser2net exposing the Denon RS232 port
as a simple unencrypted TCP service.)

Good luck.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-01-02 Thread Aesculus

iPeng definitely works with the player 100% fixed volume and the plugin.
He made a specific change for that. The player menu itself won't work
and also I cannot use Squeezer on my Android either. The web browser
should work though as I use that all the time.

Here is your problem: The old receivers gave back an absolute level.
Your receiver is giving back a change. You cannot take a square root of
a negative number without going into imaginary numbers (we won't go
there).

Not sure if there is something you can do in the receiver to change
that. Otherwise you are going to have to change that area to create a
volume or perhaps find a document that uses a different API call. You
will need a volume that is not a delta change but a actual figure.

Sorry I cannot be of more help. Perhaps someone who has modified it for
your receiver or had a similar experience can help out.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-01-02 Thread DAR

Thanks, Chris. Here is some more logging that occurs when I click the
"softer" and then the "louder" button at each end of the volume slider
for this player on the LMS web page. The error message I sent
previously seems to have come from the "softer" command, which sends
"new SB vol: -2". As you can see below, there is a different error
associated with the "louder" command, which sends "new SB vol: +2". It
doesn't look like either of these actions actually sends a signal to the
receiver (i.e., there is no change in the receiver's display when the
buttons are clicked), but the volume of the player goes up and down as
the buttons are pushed, presumably through the internal volume control
for the player. Clicking on the volume slider between the "softer" and
"louder" buttons sends a signal to the receiver (i.e., the actual volume
briefly appears in the receiver display, and the volume of the player
jumps to the relevant setting) and the volume goes up or down as
expected.

I have changed the audio setting for this player so that the output is
fixed at 100%, and I get the expected result. No change in volume when
either "softer" or "louder" button is clicked on the web page, but the
volume jumps up and down when the volume slider is clicked. I would be
happy changing the volume that way from a browser, but unfortunately,
the Sqeeze Ctrl app for Android doesn't let you change the volume when
the audio setting for the player is fixed at 100%. (This may work
differently in iPeng, since my wife could change the volume from her
iPad in iPeng, even when the volume of the player is fixed at 100%, and
I don't see errors in the logs when iPeng changes the volume.) Any
suggestions?

You might try to set Debug On in LMS and see what the volume adjust is
sending. It will log the value just before that error.

My guess is your device sends over a different volume adjustment than
what was coded for.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2021-01-02 Thread DAR

Chris,

I emailed you recently about setting up this plugin for an old Denon
receiver (AVR-2805), but I'll comment here about my experiences in order
to take advantage of this group's collective insight. By way of
background, I am switching over from an IRBlaster setup as my final SB3
classic devices slowly die. My receiver doesn't have an ethernet port,
but I was able to get the Denon Control working through an
RS232-to-ethernet device. After fiddling with the serial communication
settings on the converter device, I am now able to talk to the receiver
over my network using telnet (via Putty) using the standard Denon
Control commands.

I have installed the Denon AVP Control Plugin (v. 2.0) on my Xubuntu LMS
server (Version: 8.0.1 - 1608617100). In the plugin settings for this
player (a squeezelite instance (v1.9.8-1294) running on an RP4 with a
hifiberry Digi+ card for optical output to my receiver), I have enabled
the plugin and input my receiver's IP address, but I think the other
settings are default. The volume control for this player is set to
"Volume controls adjust output" on the audio settings page.

The "power on" and "power off" functions seem to work okay for the
player/receiver from either the LMS web page or the Squeeze Ctrl Android
app (although I sometimes need to click through an extra off/on cycle to
get a response), but the volume controls seem a little jumpy, which
makes me wonder if I am seeing something similar to what other users
have described here. I don't see reproducible behavior, but I turned on
the debugging setting for the plugin and see the following error on a
frequent basis in my server log:

Code:

[21-01-01 19:03:59.6083] Slim::Control::Request::notify (2060) Error:
Failed notify: Can't take sqrt of -2 at
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/Plugin.pm
 line 739

The corresponding text from this file is:

Code:

my $subVol = sprintf("%d",((80 + $maxVolume) * (sqrt($volAdjust)*10) / 10
));

I have no coding experience, but it looks like this might explain some
of the volume issues. Does the code need to be changed, or is there
something in my configuration that should be tweaked?

I also see the following plugin error in my server log, although it is
much less frequent:

Code:

[21-01-01 15:30:56.0019] Slim::Control::Request::notify (2060) Error:
Failed notify: Can't call method "name" on an undefined value at
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins/DenonAvpControl/Plugin.pm
 line 152.

I am happy to troubleshoot any suggestions. I also wonder if there is a
way to tweak the plugin to let me change the optical input settings on
my receiver. This receiver doesn't have "quick select" settings (as far
as I can tell), but the Denon Control commands for this are trivial.
LMK if that if I could easily add those commands somewhere in the plugin
code. Thanks in advance for your help!

Re: timeout errors, I'm seeing more randomness than simply "first OK,
then all following fail". The attached log excerpt is from a time after
a player was used for a while, then stopped, and then played again. It
starts at a moment it's first restarted.

Nothing new for you, but things are frustrating because these errors
occur at random for the same type of call.
Next, I'll try to see which of the LMS logging options can get at the
Networking::Async internals.

IIRC for some reason the Denon would not allow linked messages and
disconnected after a few seconds. It was frustrating.

I'm still far from jumping in, but low level socket programming (which

the Net::Telnet high level module.

But, regarding the post you are referencing above; is it really

I tried my SBT and all I can say is that it is a bit weird. There are
two options:
1. Regular
2 100% Fixed volume

I had no issues with the regular volume. Note that there is a bit of
delay in the plugin when you change volume to keep it from overrunning
the amp. This delay could be the source of the jumping perhaps in some
cases but not for me.

The 100% (set in the SBT) will send the audio at full volume to the amp
and then the plugin controls it from there. But the slider on the SBT is
locked at 100% and you cannot use that to change the volume. I used
iPeng to adjust the volume in this case and I probably could have used
the web interface too.

For Android I use Squeezer which works fine with one caveat: For all my
players accept the SBT I can use the phones volume control to change the
LMS player volume. But for the SBT player I have to use the graphical UI
control on the phone app.

I do not use the remote, only touch screen on the SBT... and of course
the Squeeze Ctrl app on android.

I have a Touch and can try this out. Are you using the screen on the
Touch or the remote?

Also what firmware is on your Touch?

I use the Denon app and love it, but there is an odd behavior that is
similar to that being discussed here that I have noticed. If I control
the volume using an app on my smart phone (Squeeze Ctrl) it works as
expected, but if I then try to adjust the volume directly via the
SqueezeBox Touch screen the volume jumps back to where it had been
before adjusting via the phone app. It seems that the volume control of
the app and the SBT do not sync. I haven't even tried to work out if it
is a Logitech firmware issue, Squeeze Ctrl issue, or Denon AVP Control
Plugin issue.

Most of my gear in the living room, including the receiver (AVR-X1300W)
is hardwired over 1Gbps switch after being bridged over PowerLine
(HomePlug) AV2 device @ 500 Mbps. The average ping times are in the 3ms
range, so latency should not be an issue.

At its worst, what tends to happen is the volume "snaps back" to a prior
setting a second, or so, later after being changed, for example, the
volume is changed, lets say, from a value of 80 to 50 only to snap back
to 80 after playing for some (short) time interval (a second, or two) at
50. I have not yet put a marker in the debug log when something like
this happens. On other occasions, sometimes the power-on sequence will
miss, for example, switching to the right input, in my case it's
preset-3, and sometimes a volume change is not registered at all. All of
that, in my mind, is indicative of timing problems, and it could be
simple LMS's single-threadness (not a word ;-) manifestation (and that's
why it's so random), but otherwise, and most of the time, things are
just fine.

It's really Telnet (Denon AVP protocol) but is carried over the ethernet
port. I wonder if some of your timing issues could be communications
port related?

Although I'm staying on the 7.9 branch, this is good to know.

As to the performance of the plugin itself, timing glitches seem to be
the only issue with it, and sometimes those can be quite severe.

To that point, I see that you are using the built-in Networking::Async
module, and issuing control sequences to 'telnet' port over HTTP. Is
that what it is? Is it HTTP, or is it 'telnet'? The reason for asking is
that somewhere in another discussion it was stipulated that HTTP calls
were (much) slower and had greater latency than direct 'telnet' i/f.
There is Net::Telnet module on CPAN.

OK, a new attempt, but firstly the thing about my receiver (AVR-1300W).
Now I know what triggers it's "funny" state. In its web I/F there is a
"Web Update" button (in addition to the two exposed through the remote's
"Settings", i.e. "Update" and "Add New Features") which when pushed
trigers it. It insists on loading a local firmware file and using it to
update the AVR. In this state, any attempt to connect to the receiver's
web I/F will land on that "Web Update" page, and any other URI is not
recognized as valid. Even cycling the power does not cancel the state,
even though the AVR seems to be operating as expected through the
remote. Only pulling the power cord finally reset it. After that, the
receiver notified that there's firmware update available, and I updated.
All the preceding is just to let you know that the receivers end would
not the be a likely culprit for what I got to observe, although; weirdly
enough, I still can't directly connect to it with Win10's build in
'telnet' client, but the web I/F is working OK.

Now, back to debugging the plug-in. It still has that new problem of not
triggering the power on/off. Here's the part of the "server.log":

Code:

[20-06-06 11:14:40.8202] Plugins::DenonAvpControl::Plugin::commandCallback

(366) error connecting to url: error=Connect timed out: Bad file descriptor
url=HTTP://10.10.10.203:23

BTW, that error routine is called after every command, successful, or
not, sent to the AVR.

OK, talking about all things random... frustrating. After manually
turning the AVR on and playing around with volume, now the plug-in and
AVR started playing nice together again, and the power off/on works
now.

Hmm. You know, I'm going to just send you the server log and hope that
you can find in it more then I can see.

BTW, I'll be happy to assist you in any way you'll need.

Thanks

Got around to run some test and:
a) could not reproduce the previously observed behavior, and
b) discovered a new problem, but it's most likely with the AVR itself.

When I get around to it, I'll reset and re-configure the AVR, and then
I'll poke around again, but for now, suddenly, the plug-in will not turn
on/off the AVR (before there was no problem with that), and the volume
changes in LMS work as expected, and the same regardless of the "max
volume" setting. BTW, I also tried to run the other LMS Denon plug-in
(DenonSerial by Peter Watkins); same results.

You might try turning on Debug (go the Settings page and select
Advanced>Logging and then select Debug for DenonAVPControl). Probably
have to restart LMS for the debugging to take effect.

Then try a few things and see what the logs say. It may give you a hint
if something behaves differently. There is a lot of debugging code in
there to let you see requests and actions. Perhaps some of the delays
built into the plugin don't work for you and you could try tweaking them
for your environment.

One the max volume issue I have no comment. Perhaps they changed the API
specs for your device. I don't know as my AVP is decades old. But again
maybe the delays could help here so it waits longer for your device to
function.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2020-05-30 Thread MarSOnEarth

I'm using LMS (on Win10) with your plugin playing into Rpi 4/HiFiBerry
DAC+ combo and into a Denon AVR-X1300W.

Things basically work, but there are odd things happening with volume.
With version 1.5, the plugin would switch the AVR on, select the right
input, and in v1.5 it would set the volume to what I wanted after much
try&error which resulted in a 250% max volume in the plugin settings.
That translated into 74% volume on the AVR. With v.2.0 this no longer
works (the volume on the AVR is left alone), but that's not the biggest
problem.

With both versions of the plugin, let's say; I set the volume to 50% in
LMS and on the Denon. Now, I start to increase the volume in LMS and
somewhere around 85% (in LMS) the volume on the Denon suddenly drops to
~ 15%. Now, in addition to that behavior, in v2.0 the AVR volume
similarly drops when I *decrease* the volume in LMS... often, BUT not
always. Basically, the volume level control is quite unruly.

Here are my (relevant) settings:

- Delay to set the Quick Select choice: 0
- Quick Select Option: 3
- Zone Option: Main
- Maximum volume of DENON AVP/AVR: 100
- Enable synching the volume?: 0

Enable audio settings menus?: 0

Thanks for any advice.

For those that are interested the plugin has been updated to Version
2.0. It should be available via an update from LMS.

Major change is the addition of a setting to put a delay in the
QuickStart selection after turning the unit on.

I have moved the plugin over to Git so you can more easily install it.
Also look for it to be in the standard plugins in the near future

This time the integration run fine. It should show up in your LMS soon.

I am using it on a picoreplayer with 2 Devon AVR amps in the house,
works nicely. It will be good to have it in a repository and featured as
a standard plugin again. It has been a hassle for a couple of years
since it slipped sideways having to install it manually every time I
change my system etc.

I figured out how I can install the Denon AVP Plugin with mostly the
graphical interface of Ubuntu 18.04:

Before installing the LMS onto a blank system I created the user
"squeezeboxserver" in the Ubuntu Settings-Details-Users section and
assigned a password.

I then switched to the just generated user and installed the logitech
media server according to this guide:
http://wiki.slimdevices.com/index.php/Debian_Package

Thereafter I pulled the plugin from the google archive:
https://storage.googleapis.com/google-code-archive-downloads/v2/code.google.com/denonavpcontrol/DenonAvpControl_1_9_2.zip

I was now able to unzip, extract the whole folder to the path
"/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/Plugins".

After a restart of the LMS "sudo service logitechmediaserver stop",
"sudo service logitechmediaserver start" the plugin showed up as active
in the LMS web interface settings "Plugins" tab.

I could now safely return to my default Ubuntu user.
LMS and the plugin will automatically start up after a re-boot, logging
in to the "squeezeboxserver" account is not necessary.

I hope this will help other noobs that run into the same problem. I will
re-post my finding in the "Manually installing plugin zips" thread.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2017-12-23 Thread MelonMonkey

Hmm.. Interestingly (frustratingly) today I had some unrelated issues
with my Windows server system and now it appears that the plugin won't
load. Can't figure out yet why.

The changes I made were put in roughshod. Marantz (same parent company
as Denon) uses a number of commands that are different than the ones in
the plugin for Denon, including the Standby command to turn the PrePro
off. I also added a hard-coded source selection for "CD" (the input I'm
using with my Squeezebox) to the power ON function. Today I planned to
add the source selection elsewhere to make sure it also activated if the
Marantz was already on (the plugin skips the poweron function if the
device is already on).

I don't think I'll take it beyond these simple hacks if I can get the
plugin loading again. There's too much code to change and not enough
time for me to dedicate. :) The whole thing would really need to be
refactored and simplified to be able to properly support both Denon and
Marantz AVR/Pre systems cleanly from a high level.

Thanks for the thoughts. Each SBT has its own DENON amp, and those two
players individually are set correctly with the unique IP of the
corresponding amp. I have not enable syncing of the volume on either
player. They should be working individually. This has only started
occuring since I changed my family room (two zones set up on this amp)
SBT settings so that only the zone 2 switches on with the SBT and zone 1
remains off unless I override it. If I have zone 1 on with the TV
feeding through that zone it is then that switching off the SBT in the
lounge area (other SBT and amp) will switch the zone 1 off in the family
room, but leave zone 2 on. Not a huge problem, but curious.

Interestingly enough I noticed for some reason that the Settings for the
plugin cannot be accessed from the web interface (LMS 7.7.2 - r33893).
This may be because the Google Code repository is no longer valid.

I have not touched my LMS server for years nor looked at the code for
the plugin even longer. When you set up the plugin it needed an IP
address for the amp. The plugin sends Denon commands to that address.
If the amps are connected then maybe that's the issue. I would think you
would have to have unique IP addresses for each amp but the plugin only
supports one amp per LMS instance. Not sure how you have all of that
setup.

Am looking forward to seeing what you are about to do with it too! It

It would be interesting to see what you have in mind. For me it's
working OK. The biggest issue is that audio choices never reflected

how to get it to reflect the states when first opened.

I primarily use it with iPeng or the standard interface. The new iPeng 9
works great with it.

Long shot to post in a thread that seemed to die in 2014, but here we

Trying to load this plugin into LMS 7.9.1 on pCP and am able to place
the same folder of files that I used in my ReadyNAS (successfully) into
the plugin folder in slimserver, installed plugins - after restarting
LMS the LMS gui shows that a restart is required to install new plugin
DENONAVP, but after restart it is not in the list of plugins, plus the
files have disappeared from the plugin folder! Have backed up the pCP
via pCP gui after loading the files in. There must be a way, but I can't
stumble onto it...

Any help appreciated! David

Sorry to here that. I never tested it for NET/USB, only digital
connection. But I am not sure why there would be a difference.

I assume pausing and then resuming play does not get it started either?

The other thing to check is to make sure that your quick select has been
set properly before hand. The plugin just switches to it. It must be set
will all the proper inputs/outputs first. The only thing it changes on
startup is the volume and others have had issues with that and turned it
off in the plugin.

I am no longer supporting the plugin but you can turn debug mode on in
the plugin and and maybe it will point to an issue you can fix yourself.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2014-08-31 Thread puck08

I am using the Squeezebox Radio, a DENON AVR 3311 and the DENON AVP/AVR
control plugin (v1.9.2). For the plugin I followed the installation
instructions at Google Code.
So now if I turn on the SB the DENON turns on as well and it starts the
defined Quick Selection (Net/USB).
But, if I understood right, now the DENON should start playing the
music, the SB plays. But this does not happen. It just goes to Net/USB
and there it waits and does not play music.
Is there a further setting I have to attend?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Denon AVP Control Plugin

2014-04-01 Thread Simon_rb

It's a bit more complicated than that! My subwoofers are powered by a
separate sony amp, this is connected to a home easy wall socket. I use
Domoticz to switch everything. So when I turn my squeeze touch on, a
plugin then tells Domoticz to turn a switch on which will send a command
to turn the denon on and set a quick select setting and also turn the
sony amp on at the wall. It needs to be clever enough that if the touch
is left on but not playing and the TV or projector is on then when the
touch turns itself off or we realise and turn it off then it doesn't
turn the amps off because we could be listening to our tv/projectors
through it.. Make sense?
