Strange observation

2020-10-15 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello!

Today I worked at a clients Pro Tools system and realized that I have to
press Numpad3 followed by Numpad0 to start recording.
What recording option did I miss here?

Thandks and best! / Martin

Hi!

I'm having trouble with what maybe is a conflict in settings somewhere between
accessibility & Flo Tools but I can't be entirely sure.

Macros in Flo Tools appear to turn themselves off in some instances or appear
to have no functionality at all. I've emailed Keyboard maestro who have sent me
back to Flo Tools.

Additionally, when Flo Tools is engaged some of the usual keyboard functions
appear to no longer work eg space bar no longer operates as start/stop & I have
to use the transport controls on the control surface.

Any tips on correct settings would be greatly appreciated.

I am running latest Pro Tools on a Mac with Mojave 10.14.6

Hello John!

For Strike 2 and Structure - both are not part of the Avid stock plug-ins - you
have to remember the primary dealer/shop.
Maybe Plug-In Boutique Or AiR Music Directly.
With the log-in data of that time you should be able to download the current or

AudioSuite vs. Audio sweet

Yesterday I renamed the m4a file "Audio sweet gain" to "AudioSuite gain".
AudioSuite is the correct spelling and was taken out of the Pro Tools menu.
Today - in addition - the "Audio sweet gain" file came back.
So don't wonder about the two files.

OT: VOCR in EuControl

2020-06-01 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

I just tried VOCR in the EuControl settings window (Command+1) and got no
reaction at all.
No start signal and no finish message.
What's wrong with this window?
VOCR works as expected in other apps.

Thanks and best! / Martin

Is it the current version 5?
The studio edition or a smaller one?

That never was possible in Autotune?...

RE: OT: Finder - Convert Selected Audio Files

2020-12-03 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau and Ignasi!

Here my last update...

It makes no difference how the selection of the files is done.
Both, the Finder and the search dialog work the same.

The problem is, that the integrated encode function only accepts a maximum of
1000 files.
Selecting a single file more will deactivate the menu item "Encode Selected
Audio Files".
I double checked this on different hardware platforms.

So I finally used an audio convert app for that.

For the numpad commander check the VO utility (VO+F8).
In the category "Commanders" you'll find the numpad.

Keyboard layouts you will find under system prefs., Keyboard, Input Sources.
If you already set up some, you should toggle them via Control+Space -
depending on the shortcut settings also under System Prefs., Keyboard.

OT: Finder - Convert Selected Audio Files

2020-11-08 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

I want to encode arround 20,000 wave files to alac by using the integrated
Finder function.
For locating and selecting them I use the Finder search, starting at the top
level folder.
Search criteria: "type is music"
All files are found and displayed.
Now I select them by using Command+A.
After a while I press VO+Shift+M for the contextual menu, but the very last
item "Convert Selected Audio Files" is missing here.

Are there any limmitations regarding maximum files or folders?

Tia! / Martin

I searched for all files with the ending .wav
Alternatively I searched all music files.
Both searches gave the same number of files.
So maybe I have to encode folder by folder ☹ to find the beast.

Observation - midi event list

2021-01-17 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

Yesterday I came back to some midi stuff in Pro Tools and realized that my
Mac starts cooling very much, when using the Flo Tools feature to e.g.
automatically announce a notes pitch.
Even in "stop mode" and doing really nothing the temperature rises and
rises...
Setting Flo Tools to "no report" again normalizes the behaviour.

Has this always been the case? Don't think so.

Current Pro Tools and Keyboard Maestro under Catalina 10.15.7.
Same when using the Keyboard Maestro version before the last one.
Doublicated on two different Mac Books Pro.

Thanks and best! / Martin

RE: Observation - midi event list

2021-01-19 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau!

Yes, I can remember something like that when using the Plug-in Monitor, but not
that extreme when doing nothing and watching the cpu temperature rises to 100
degrees Celsius.
Maybe the todays faster cpus and memory or the newer versions of Keyboard
Maestro causes that.

Thanks and best! / Martin

Hi Martin,

Go to the Apple menu and select "About This Mac…"
In the resulting window, click the "System Report" button.
When the System Report window opens, press Command+S to save a copy of the
report.

There's probably, technically a sort of menu bar that doesn't appear to be
visible. For example, you can also press Command+P to print but the print
feature will only include the category focused on which isn't helpful if you
want everything. It's great if you want a specific list of installed apps or
connected devices, etc.

Re: OT: Holding the shift key while launching an app

Hello Steve!

It depends on the app.

* A Pro Tools session will open with all plug-ins deactivated.

* Music/iTunes lets you select the music library.

* In my case the app called "Meta" provides an additional menu item for
debugging and other stuff.

RE: OT: Holding the shift key while launching an app

2021-05-28 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau!

My false...
You are so right. It has always been working but I expected something different.

An app developer asked me to hold the shift key while launching his app to get
to a debug menu.
I thought that that debug menu will appear before the app opens.
Now I saw that the debug menu appears inside the app as an additional item in
the apps main menu.

Thanks and best! / Martin

Hi Martin,
I believe that, whichever key combination you use to launch an application,
holding the Shift key immediately after letting go of the previous key
combination will suffice. I've used modifiers that way when launching apps and
it seems fine. If you have no luck whatsoever, you might try Flo Mouse and use
Shift+` (Accent) in a double-tap while continuing to hold down the Shift
modifier. That is the equivalent of Shift-double-clicking and holding the Shift
key down. Hope that helps,
Slau

Re: Go to the first clip in a track?

2021-05-22 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Juan!

If "TabToTransients" is checkt, the Tab key moves to the next transient and not
to the next clip.
Maybe this was your issue.

Using Flo Tools your can check the current state by pressing Command+Option+Tab.
Without Flo Tools the key combination will change the state without any
feat-back.
You can use the options menu in Pro Tools to check this setting, too.

My apologies, as I am unable to locate my notes on how to resolve this issue...
After updating to OS 10.15.7 and Pt 2021.6 and reinstalling Flotools
2020.5, it seems as if some shortcuts are no longer working.
For example, SHIFT+OPTION+L will report number of selected tracks, but
when double-tapping the same combo, it does not toggle selection of
the tracks.
Also, the built-in PT shortcut CTRL+P and CTRL+; do not appear to move
the selection and VO does not announce any changes in track selection.
If anyone could help me get back on-track, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance.

Subject: How to delete KM macro or restore Previous Flotools files

A couple of years back, I started having trouble getting the
SHIFT+UP/Down arrow macros to cycle through playlists, so ultimately,
the solution was to delete that specific macro from the Flotools
macros in KM, which worked fine, since that macro was a built-in PT
shortcut already. Doing so just took away the functionality of having
VO speak the newly-selected playlist.
Now that I've updated my OS, PT and re-installed Flotools, this macro
has been re-installed as well, and I no longer have the ability to
cycle through playlists again.
I cann't for the life of me remember how to delete the macro from KM.
Could someone remind me how to do that, or tell me where to copy my
backed up Flotools files so that I can revert to my former set of
macros?
Hope all this makes sense.
Thanks for your assistance.

Structure 2

2021-03-28 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello to all users of Structure 2!

Could someone explain the logical way for setting the sample path.
Checking with VOCR I am not sure where to click to set or edit the global
sample path.
If it is not possible using VOCR, I will have to explain it to an assistant
with less computer knowledge

Thanks for any help! / Martin

Auto-Tune Hybrid prefs

2021-04-04 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

Started to use Avid's "Carbon" audio interface, I just got Auto-Tune Hybrid.
When opening the plug-in window, VoiceOver becomes very slowly.
That wasn't the case in Auto-Tune Pro 9 before.

Maybe I have to turn off open GL mode in the plug-ins preferences.
But I am not able to recognize any button or icon for that,, after a scan by
VOCR.

Reading the manual there should be a button for "Settings".
Is there a way to get there without assistance?

Thanks and best! / Martin

RE: Observation - midi event list

2021-03-09 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Chi!

Finally the AVB protocol which is needed for my new audio interface activates
turbo boost at that moment, the interface is turned on.
That brought the processor temperature quite high and the Flo Tools macro did
the rest.
Apple and Avid are searching for a solution.
My work arround for mow is a tool called Turbo Boost Switcher.

So every thing is cool again and the 100ms delay is fine.
Would be great to have it fort he Plug-in watcher, too.

Subject: Re: Observation - midi event list

The problem is it would be extremely hard to track down this kind of
things because so many variables.
It could be because of MacOS, VoiceOver, Keyboard Maestro, Pro Tools,
AppleScripte Engine, some other processors in your computers, or even
possibly hardware difference, and so on.
For example, Microsoft Teams kicks the fan really high and drains the
battery like crazy in some cases on Mac, and it has been a few years
since literally hundreds of people have been complaining about this all
over the internet. Several possible solutions have been proposed by
different people, but Microsoft wasn't able to fix it despite the
popular demand during Pandemic.
Unfortunately I don't have a bandwidth to tackle this.

100ms delay is not bad when you using it, and it only applies when you
use the monitor. I think it's a good compromise.

Having said that, let me know if you find something.

Flo Tools setup question

2021-03-09 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

On a clients machine - when opening a clients session - the Flo Tools
shortcuts Option+Numpad7, Option+Numpad8 and Option+Numpad9 do not work as
expected.
Double pressing switches the status and the beep sound is audible, but there
is no speech output.
Other shortcuts like Option+L and Shift+Command+L are working as expected.

When opening the Pro Tools demo session everything is fine.

Which Pro Tools settings are responsible fort hat stuff?

Thanks in advance and best! / Martin

De-Esser III guide - understanding question

2021-03-21 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

Reading the Pro Tools audio plug-in guide regarding de-essing I came across the
De-Esser III.
In my opinion the description of the "HF Only" button is contradictory.
At first you'll find the following description:

"The Frequency (Freq) control sets the frequency band in which the De-Esser
operates. When HF Only is disabled, gain is reduced in frequencies within the
specified range. When HF Only is en- abled, the gain of frequencies above the
specified value will be reduced."

Some lines below that they further explain:

"De-Esser III HF Only Control
When the HF Only button is enabled, gain reduction is applied only to the
active frequency band set by the Frequency control. When the HF Only button is
disabled, the De-Esser applies gain reduction to the entire signal."

Maybe my English isn't good enough, but the two descriptions for me aren't the
same.
Or does VoiceOver misinterpret the structure of the pdf file?

Could someone illuminate me?...

Thanks and best! / Martin

Heat

2021-02-24 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

By accident I got the Heat feature to my Pro Tools subscription.
After activation and checking the desired mix view, I found the Heat symbol at
the beginning of each track.
But the Heat controls seam to be not accessible by VoiceOver.

Does anyone already made some experiences regarding Heat?

I just double-checked it again...

If you running your Mac Mini without a display, try something like the

Without the Compulab I have that issue with Antares Hybrid.
Plugging in the Compulab makes my system running fast as usual again.

Vinyl recordings

2021-09-05 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello all!

I got some audio files, recordings of vinyl records.
What is a good tool for our community for cleaning up cracks etc.?
Should I upgrade my RX 6 Elements license to RX 8 Standard or are there better
solutions?

Thanks and best! / Martin

Visiting the Izotope website, RX 6 is not Big Sur compatible.
I first tried to install RX 6 with no success.
Or did I get anything wrong?

Hi Martin,
RX is especially good for this purpose. I've found it to be a bit hungry for
CPU but I think it's gotten better over the years. The presets usually do the
trick. I put presets for RX6 in the Drop Box but we're up to RX8. I haven't
upgraded yet. I don't think anybody's put RX8 presets in there but you might
want to check that. Otherwise, if you get some sighted assistance for a little
while, there aren't too many presets to save out, maybe 8 per module.

Re: Output window

2022-01-03 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau, Jimmie and Keith!

Thanks for answering.
Slau got me right.

I am searching for the fastest way to open the output window - the button is
found inside each track.
Or to perform a mouse click on the pan knob.
I just explore some work flows with the Avid Dock out of Pro Tools directly.
And opening the output window of a track assigns the first Dock encoder for
panning.

Best! / Martin

Hi Martin,

The Flo Tools version in the current installer is the regular release version
of Flo Tools. We're going to test a version with the slight delay to see how it
responds. If all is fine, it'll be part of the regular release. I'd imagine you
could just copy the JAVA script from your current macro and paste it into the
latest installer version and it should run exactly as what you've had thus far.

Regarding the Flo Tools plug-in monitor I got a pre version after the

In that pre version Chi added a delay to prevent the processor to

Do you know if that change is in the new installer or will it come with

Re: Flo Tools Team in need of a little feedback for upcoming release

2022-03-10 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau!

No need for the Flo Tools listing functions here so far.

Thanks and best! / Martin

On Mar 11, 2022, at 1:12 AM, Slau Halatyn wrote:

As we prepare the next version of Flo Tools, the Flo Tools Team is pondering a
particular set of features and wondering whether we should keep them, discard
them or just change the implementation just a bit.

There are 5 keyboard shortcuts with single and double-tap version s that list
things like Soloed tracks, muted tracks, armed tracks etc. Double-tapping lists
the unsoloed, unmuted, unarmed tracks, etc. In each case, depending on the
single or double tap, you get one or the other version of the list and can
toggle the status of the listed tracks individually. The modifier combination
includes Control+Shift along with letter keys: S for solo, M for mute, R for
record arm, K for input monitoring and L for track selection.

The next release of Pro Tools will use two keyboard shortcuts that'll conflict
with two of the Flo Tools shortcuts. Since we try to keep modifier combinations
consistent, we'd be hard pressed to come up with combinations for the included
letters that don't conflict with other Pro Tools commands.

Therefore, we're evaluating whether or not this listing feature is worth
keeping or not. Personally, I've never used this feature but some people might
feel it's indispensable for their workflow. we also don't necessarily have to
ditch the feature itself but rather transform it into a single keyboard
shortcut that would bring up one extra step where users can choose which filter
type they'd like, press that button and then be presented with the resulting
list just as they have in the past. It is an extra step but only one shortcut
to remember.

So, we're asking for feedback from Flo Tools users for the following:

Do you feel that the listing feature is something you use often? Is it
something you'd really like to continue being part of Flo Tools or are you
indifferent? Again, we could probably implement an intermediate dialog to
facilitate the feature itself in a similar way but, before we put in the time
and effort, we'd like to make sure enough people truly want it to stay.
Otherwise, we're all about streamlining if it makes sense.

Please feel free to respond here and we'll make note of general sentiment.

Thanks!

Re: Flo Tools installer updated for Keyboard Maestro version 10

2022-02-15 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau!

Sorry for this...

When visiting www.flotools.org, I first press VO+Space on the link "Download".
Then the list with all Flo Tools versions is displayed.
Here I press VO+Space on the link "Flo Tools v2020.5.0".
At this point nothing more happens for me.

Now - on the same link - I tried VO+Shift+M, followed by "Download linked file"
with success.

Latest Safari with DuckDuckGo add-on under latest Big Sur.

Re: Flo Tools installer updated for Keyboard Maestro version 10

2022-02-15 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Rocco!

Thanks for helping to clarify here.

Yes, I'm clicking on the link that’s under the heading Flotools 2020.5
underneath the system requirements.

My Safari settings are set to private browsing for years now.
I never had that "problem" with the Flo Tools website before.
No "hidden" system dialog etc.
Safari announces the Flo Tools website as not secure.
Maybe the latest Safari updates changed that behavior.
I only - in the past - came to a similar situation in my Avid account, but Avid
changed the downloading of the Pro Tools documentation at all and so the issue
no longer occurs.

Rocco, the longer I'm thinking about this...
The last Flo Tools download was in 05/2020.
Maybe, at that time, my Safari settings were different.

Best! / Martin

According to a post on AppleVis, it is a bug and is fixed in the latest beta

Might be that nothing can be done until the update is released aside from
insuring that the copies of word still working are not automatically updated.

Strange thing is, that we have 3 Macs here, all running Big Sur and the same

OT: Strange behaviour in Word365 for Mac

2022-03-25 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello to all Mac users!

On one of my Macs running Big Sur the accessibility implementation for
Word365 and VoiceOver seams to became broken.
When opening or writing a document containing multiple lines and navigating
to the top of the document, the whole text is spoken by VoiceOver after
pressing VO+L or DownArrow.
And my braille display also shows more than one line, separated by the line
break sign.
At the moment no reading or writing is possible.

Any ideas how to fix that?

Thanks in advance and a nice weekend! / Martin

Much better.
Now VOCR most of the times recognizes the field for the frequency.
But no decimals are possible here.

Hello Slau!

My idea is to generate some tones to tune ukulele and guitar for easy use on
the go.
Tones in my desired octave, length etc.
So I started using the "Signal Generator" in Pro Tools.
I'll check the suggested app.

Thank you and best! / Martin

Exactly which frequency are you trying to generate?
You might try looking into getting "Make a Test tone" by Audio Ease, the makers
of Altiverb. If I'm not mistaken, it's a free app. If it costs anything, it's a
nominal fee. It's accessible and can do sweeps as well.

Hi Slau and list.
Well a few days ago, I was doing some mastering in pt. So I enabled cancel last
solo. But now I’m mixing, and want to untick this option. But it will not
untick. I have ticked solo in place, and yes that is ticked, But when I VO
space on the cancel last solo option, what ever I do it stays checked. I even
tried command mouse click with the mouse. Is there a reason why I can’t untick
this box and get it back to the usual behaviour, or am I just plane idiotic and
mising something obvious.

Hi,

What is the current state of the issue where VoiceOver halts PT from loading
sessions. For a long time I got this to work by turning off VoiceOver before
launching PT sessions, but this doesn’t always work. Sometimes I’m unable to
open sessions. Even when turning off VoiceOver.

What is the status of this bug, and what do people do to work around this issue?

I use PT september 2023 and Ventura 13.6.

Re: Unable to click the apply button when setting a linear tempo curve

2022-05-27 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Alex!

Did you check the "Conductor Track" checkbox?
Using latest Flo Tools you can check/toggle it by Option+F12.
Otherwise use the MIDI Control Cluster.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what I am doing wrong, or what I need to do to

Thanks for your assistance.

Re: how to clean your session

2022-05-26 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Tom!

In the PT Access Dropbox you will find a little how to called "Archiving
Session".
That will point you in to the right direction.

AD2 plug-In Settings

2022-07-12 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Steve and others!

I just tried to use your AD2 plug-in settings in the latest Pro Tools.
I created a folder "Addictive Drums" in the Pro Tools Plug-In Settings folder
under "Documents".
I also tried "Addictive Drums 2".
No preset or folder is shown in the plugs window.

What did I wrong here?

Thanks and best! / Martin

RE: Pro Tools 2022.04

2022-04-28 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Slau!

Thank you for the update.
I think to switch from Ultimate to Studio.
In the past the keyboard scrub feature was my main argument for Ultimate.
Now - with the Dock - I have a better scrub function available.

Hi Martin,

Flo Tools 2022.4 will be out by the end of the day today. We tried to have it
ready for yesterday but a few last minute issues appeared adn we didn't want to
risk releasing without testing.

There are no limitations on PT studio, per se. You probably meant to say Pro
Tools Artist which does have the 16 I/O limitation. I think there's a 32 track
limit or something but I don't recall exactly. Production Expert's web site has
a bunch of info on it and I see that other blogs are starting to chime in on
the new licenses and features.

Cheers,
Slau

Re: AD2 plug-In Settings

2022-10-10 Thread Martin (Punky) Sopart
Hello Steve!

I tested another time using Pro Tools 2022.9 with success.
Are there any informations how to set up a Pro Tools session to use the "Multi
Out.tfx"?

Thanks in advance and best! / Martin

I have not tested these on the latest ProTools version yet. The presets work
absolutely perfectly on my Intel system running an older version of ProTools.
You must own the entire library from addictive drums 2, in order for you to
load a preset. If you cannot see the presets at all, try saving a dummy preset
in the header of the Addictive Drums 2 plug-in window. Find that preset folder
where you saved the dummy preset, and paste the files provided in the dropbox
folder into it. Reboot your system and relaunch Pro Tools to see if that
refreshes things.

If you are a Native Instruments complete control user, you can also purchase
the NKS files from Jason on Freelance SoundLabs, which will give you access
through the complete control plug-in and your midi controller. Just remember
you need to use a newer version of the Native Instruments complete control midi
controller lineup.

Right now I am away from my studio traveling on the road and will not be back
for sometime. When I return I will try to test some things with the latest Pro
Tools.

Link to freelance sound labs addictive drums 2 Products:

https://freelancesoundlabs.com/index.php/downloads/komplete-kontrol-vst-packs/item/296-xln-audio-addictive-drums-2-nks-library-for-komplete-kontrol-maschine

Just like with the presets I saved out from addictive drums 2, The freelance
sound labs XLN files have a everything bundle, but if you do not own the entire
library from XLN, you will not be able to load or hear the drum kits you do not
own.

Kind regards,
Steve Baskis
