Not sure it will help but you can try a Firmware Rollback: 1) Turn Radio off: Press & hold the power button till you see Goodbye 2) Turn back on: Press & hold REW and PWR buttons simultaneously Is it really a SqueezeBox Radio and not a UE Radio with SqueezeBox firmware? Was it purchased new? You the original owner? If purchased new within the last two years and you have the original receipt you may need to send back for warranty replacement (which likely means you would receive back a UE Radio which can be upgraded to SqueezeBox Radio via a firmware update). ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99317 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Local location is not correct
The problem is your ISP and how it reports it's assigned IP's to to the internet. Local Region Logitech Media Server (LMS) and MySqueezeBox.com (MySB) decide what your local region is based on your ISP info which is part of your IP address from your modem. Many ISPs market areas cover a very wide area with how they assign customers IPs, while other ISPs assign IPs to much more specific areas within their market. Ex: An ISP may use an IP assigning method for the entire Eastern NY state. While another ISP may use an IP assigning method for a very specific region like just NYC. To get more specific to your actual local radio offerings you need to (if not done already): create a free account on www.MySqueezeBox.com create a free account on www.TuneIn.com enter your local area within your TuneIn profile enter your TuneIn login info onto www.MySqueezeBox.com (MySB > Accounts > TuneIn) your new local region should now be in MySB > Browse > Local LMS uses MySB in the background for Internet Radio play so the above would still need to be accomplished even if you intend on using LMS on your local computer. To do so: follow all instructions above enter your MySqueezeBox account info onto LMS > Settings > MySqueezeBox your new local region should now be in LMS > Internet Radio > Local you can access TuneIn settings, presets, folders, etc.. via LMS > My Apps > TuneIn ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=99444 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WiFi Icon stays red
The very slightest movement of a WiFi device and/or it's antenna can sometimes make a very noticeable difference. In troubleshooting networks I can slighly change the angle of the routers antenna and this can sometimes mean a 10% or greater increase in signal quality. About the worst spot to place a WiFi router is right near any other electronic equipment (computer, modem, phone, etc..). Then there are unknown (and changing) environmental factors like neighbors using new devices, other WiFi's, cordless phones, microwave ovens, appliances, etc... -------- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100548 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

buffettck wrote: > I didn't really change the angle. I just elevated it a bit, but I guess > it helped. My router doesn't have an external antenna anyway. Yes, but changing the entire routers orientation will do the same thing as moving external antennas. That's why almost all routers have the ability to be hung on a wall versus just sitting flat on a table. This offers different orientation options depending on ones needs and environment. WiFi signals are not an equal isotropic "sphere" where the signal is the same in all directions all the way around the antenna. WiFi signals are generally more of a donut shape or can be very directional depending on the hardware being used. This is why orientation, even in small measures, can make a big difference in WiFi throughput, signal strength, reliability, etc.. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100548 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] WLAN Problem on "downgraded" ue radio
Having a fixed ch for WiFi is recommended for basic and reliable WiFi use anyway, regardless of the WiFi devices in use. My Radio (and three other SB players) work flawlessly on ch 11 on my WiFi. If the router keeps changing ch's then *every* device will be disconnected from that router (WiFi). Obviously this interrupts the stream. Now the devices need to reconnect onto the new router assigned ch. How fast (and successful) this happens depends on the device. Full fledged computers and more advanced devices like smart phones will do this rather quickly. Dumber devices, like SB players, will struggle more with this ch changing situation. toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101000 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

I don't use Whitebear, but I believe that was the entire reason for it. Making UPnP players accessible to LMS and making SqueezeBox players accessible to (non-LMS) UPnP servers (like WMP). The later is likely the issue you are seeing, won't work absent a Whitebear type interface between SqueezeBox and WMP. Possibly there is something new in Win10 and/or WMP later releases that Whitebear is not currently programmed for. :( But again, I'd try Whitebear author, if still around, ask him. :) ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=104223 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio

Likely it also requires that you accept their terms of service by checking a box. These actions require a web browser on the device which your computer and iPad do have, but your Radio does not have such a web browser. Your Radio is correctly saying it "is" connected, but it is being restricted or fenced in from actually accessing the network or internet because it cannot see nor respond to the web screens required to proceed. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105432 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
Re: [SlimDevices: Radio] Radio says it's connected, but it's lying

If the laptop is Windows simply google "internet connection sharing" to see how to set it up in your laptop network settings. Essentially you are turning the laptops network card into a router. Typical setup: laptop is connected to the network via WiFi, Radio is connected to laptop via ethernet wire. How you do this on a Mac I have no idea. iPad? Dunno. ---- toby10's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=12553 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105432 ___ Radio mailing list Radio@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/radio
