Guys - this is not a "scan is too slow" nor "share has a space in its
name" issue. The scanner simply is crashing. Check the scanner.log.

What are the specs on the HTPC (CPU, RAM, OS)?

I'm not concerned about how long it takes to scan, although I do agree
that even with this setup it does take very long. There is a lot of idle
time at night (early morning) and mornings and early afternoon where I'm
not listening to music anyway. But I would like to get it to do searches
again, if at all possible.

BTW -- the HTPC is plenty fast, but for some reason it just got to where
it would bog down regardless of trying fresh installs, etc. Even at
times where I'm not streaming video at all. Not sure why.

I originally had it running on the same computer (HTPC) which has huge
amounts of storage and the newer (faster) computer has almost no storage
at all. The original installation on the HTPC had gotten to where it was
extremely slow, trying to access it via WebUI or the Controller would
just lock up forever, and Scanner.exe would never finish and would
completely lock up requiring a manual Force-Stop. I tried completely
uninstalling/reinstalling several times over several months and clearing
the library and rescanning multiple times. Nothing worked. Until I set
up the server on the other computer. Playing music and radio is MUCH
more responsive now but I cannot get it to do searches.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS doesn't start on Fedora 25

2016-12-06 Thread kolding

I just upgrade my server to Fedora 7.5, and all of a sudden LMS won't
start. I get the following message:
vxs.c: loadable library and perl binaries are mismatched (got
handshake key 0xdb00080, needed 0xdb80080)
but I can't figure out which library is causing the problem. I can't
locate anything (yet) that contains the vxs.c string.

System is running perl 5.24.

I'm running one of the recent 7.9 nightlies.

Any thoughts? Clues? Thanks...

Eric

I have a Squeezebox, a Controller, and I often use Softsqueeze on other
computers in the house (specifically, the HTPC where the music files
reside). I have this problem (no returns on searches) on all of them.
They all come back with:

0 songs
0 albums
0 artists
0 genres

I am occasionally able to run an advanced search and get a result but
often that returns only 1 result (when there should be many) or even
none. I really miss being able to do a quick search like I used to.

That's a problem that's been around (for me, anyway) through two
different server setups since LMS 7.8. I have done all of the suggested
steps to check file tags for errors and nothing seems out of the
ordinary. In fact, when I remove a file that the scanner seems to hang
up on, it just hangs up on another (tried this about 30 times without
success). But even when scans were taking forever and often hanging up
completely (had to constantly kill scanner.exe via Task Manager), I was
still able to do simple searches without a problem.

Does it really take 11.5 hours to scan your music library? There seems
to be a few steps missing from your scan, possibly your problem lies
there?

I have a raspberry pi running LMS 7.9 with an attached USB drive, with a
handful of files more than you, it takes 17+ minutes.

The issue Steve is w10 has introduced a slightly different set of rules
so far as user permissions are concerned. Goggle "elevated privileges".
My guess is that your user - the one you are logged on as - does not
have the necessary rights to see the system tray for a service that is
being run as a service by a higher power.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS no longer finds my music

2016-12-06 Thread d6jg

Leave the cable modem in routed mode but switch off its wifi
Access the Asus - plug in to it directly - and turn off its DHCP server.
Give it a fixed IP of 192.168.100.2.
Reboot the Asus and plug it into the cable router.
Now the Wifi should be in the Asus but all the IP addresses come from
the cable modem in the 192.168.100.x range. Nothing has changed so far
as the SBs and LMS are concerned except the wifi.
Good luck
