It's not clear for me how do I enable playlist logging.

But I am using jivelite on the Raspberry!!!

It's the main reason why I got interested in PCP and I am insisting on
it, in spite of these issues.

I am not interested on all other systems that use WEB interface, and
control the player through a cell phone or tablet.

All things I'm trying on the WENB interface I then go check them on the
Raspberry PCP interface, controlled by a mouse. I did show the screen
images on the other topic.

OK, a PC reboot got things back on line.

Just a question which might be important. To save the cue using Notepad,
should I save it encoding as ANSI or what? That might be important.

As I was away for a few hours, just now can I try the promising things

The first I did was using the cue file JohnB rewrote, making a new cue

But now I do not know why I can't access web LMS menu on

I just ripped a CD and created a WAV and cue file and am able to play it
through LMS Web UI. The CD appears as an album and all the tracks are
OK.

To check that LMS is parsing the cue file correctly carlmart could
enable logging formats.playlist to DEBUG

The Album name and the Artist name will be taken from the cue file.

Yes but it is an unusual error so mysqueezebox.com issue might be
indicative of other network or installation problems. If it can be
cleared then it is not related - if it can't then there may be a bigger
problem.

The fact that people use interfaces other than the LMS web gui is
totally off topic, and seems to suggest this is the reason why carlmarts

Sorry for the confusion I may have caused with my earlier post. Just to
be clear, the Geekworm case I purchased was designed for the Pi4 and
fits like a glove with all ports being accessable. It also seems to
significantly reduce the idle temperature of my Pi4. They also make a
version with a fan which will probably be even more effective if you
don't mind the slight noise pollution.

All my albums are ONE wav file, ONE cue file and ONE cover.jpg generated
by EAC.

I started doing this over 13 years ago. It worked. So... 883 albums
later it still works! I have used PC's and Raspberry Pi's for LMS.

Now, there is a chance that the next album I rip will not work, but
after 883 successes, I feel I'm on a winning streak!

Playing via a CUE file also works, but I don't see why anyone would do
this as the power of LMS is in the database it generated.

So I would jump to the conclusion that, LMS plays ONE wav file with ONE
cue file as expected.

>From memory, 13 years ago there was a small bug that was fixed by a
patch I submitted, and a couple of years ago, there was a version of LMS
the stopped playing CUE files directly, but that was also fixed by
Michael.

I've copied the cue file content that carlmart previously posted.

Added white spaces, as per cue file conventions. (I assume these were
automatically removed when carlmart posted it to the forum).

Applied the cue file to a 16/44.1 wave file of mine.

Rescanned.

Everything played perfectly, with the cue file.

Playing it via New Music worked fine.

Finding the file via Artist Browse and playing it worked fine.

The cue file I used (with white spaces added) is:

I'm doing just that now.

The Album has a single WAV and a cue file, clicking on the cue file

Did you see the individual track names for the new .wav/.cue that you
just copied over?
If not ... then it is probably through not doing a scan for "new and
changed".

One of my suggestions from earlier was to make a .wav file (by copying
one of yours that does not work properly) with only a-z or space in the
file name

eg test.wav
Then copy the existing matching .cue and call it test.cue
Then edit test.cue in Notepad and remove all accented characters, commas
etc ... and make sure if refers to the file test.wav

Then ... tell LMS to scan for new and changed.

Then see if the new tracks appear ... and then try to play them.

The problem is how LMS works with cue files.

What explanation then for the test I was proposed, where I download a
cue file and a wav file.

The cue file opens the wav file perfectly in VLC, but it doesn't open it
in LMS.

What other proof do you need that something in LMS is not negotiating
things as they should to play the file using cue?

I have.

I converted a m4a+cue to a wave+cue. It is 1hr 36 mins with 10 tracks
and works perfectly with the default Filetype settings (that is apart
from the known issue with Music Folder browse and cue files).

Did you use only the Music Folders to navigate to the files? In which
case what you found is understandable.

Or did you navigate to the album via album name, or via artist, or via
"New Music"? If so did the 'album'/'tracks' not play at all?

(I gave you the album name and an artist name to enable you to use those
to find the album.)

Who says I can not see the individual track names with LMS? What I can't
is play them. Either clicking on them, where I get the message: Can't
open the file for... Neither clicking in the cue file.

No one else in this topic has an album, with a wav such as I described
with several tracks inside and a cue file to open them, that works in
LMS?

Did you initiate another scan after you copied in the wav/cue ?

If your existing .cue files had no effect then you would not have seen
the individual track names.

Tested the files.

Wave file played alright.

Cue file did nothing.

The wave file playing doesn't prove much, as I have a lot of albums with
separate wav tracks and a cue file. With LMS the files play fine, but
the cue file controls nothing and does nothing.

When the wave file is large and contains the tracks that the cue file
should separate, LMS refuse to play the wave.

I can't see how the wav file can be bad, as I have a lots of them, and
this happened with several with LMS, not just this file. I did test
that.

What purpose would it serve converting wav files to MP3, as I never
listen or care for MP3 files. WAV or Flac are the lowest resolution I
accept.

As bpa said quite well: the cue file may be the issue. Can we
concentrate just on LMS and cue files?

For LMS there is a plugin.
Regarding you're issue, already wrote did a test. But can not reproduce
it here. The only thing you wrote, setting the music files to
squeezeboxserver as user, is something I don't have. My music collection
is set to a normal user, but with 0755 as rights.

Strangely enough I read that more user are setting it like you.
Something which i would never suggest to do.

I for myself once in a while do chmod -R 0755 (music path). To make sure
everything is set correctly.

It shows LMS has scanned the file WAV correctly so the problem is not
scanning the WAV file - cue file may be the issue

"Disabled" MP3 and missing Lame can be ignored as you are not using that
feature.

I'll read some of the other posts first but I think need to enable
logging to see what is blocking LMS.

LMS performs conversions on the fly when it determines that the format
of the original file can not or should not be sent to the player in its
current format.
Giving it the option to convert from wav to mp3 might get it to play on
your player.
I don't remember if the player in pCP should be able to handle wav by
itself but this might give the opportunity to sidestep that question and
get things working for you.

After it is working ... it can be optimised.

I don't know what bpa might suggest but if it would help I would be
happy to give you the download link to a folder which contains a short
wave file plus the associated cue file that I know definitely work on my
LMS.

You could copy the folder to your music library, rescan and try playing
it:

If it played correctly that would indicate the problem is with your wave
files or cue files.

If it didn't play correctly that would indicate the problem is with your
LMS settings, etc.

Let me try to sum up what you just described.

- After reinstalling, you had problems scanning the library.
- It worked after you changed permissions for all folders and
  subfolders.
- Now you copied new stuff in it and it is not found.

Do these new files by any chance have different permissions than the old
ones?

If you want to wipe the library, you have to wipe the cache folder
(minus "InstalledPlugins"), but be aware that this could bring
unforeseen consequences if you use plugins (Spotty, for example) that I

Thanks for responding. The option to appear in My Apps is ticked in
iPlayer settings. However all that appears in My Apps is App Gallery,
which doesn't connect. It returns the message "www.mysqueezebox.com

That is NOT an LMS screenshot. It is important as it will inform us
what LMS has determined about the file format.

Here it is file playing in VLS and the codec used.

To understand what rules LMS is trying to apply when playing this file,
can you show (i.e. screen clip) LMS details.

Through LMS Web interface - when you drill down to wav file. What does
LMS say about the file like following
27947

What audio format do you think the file is ? PCM or DSD or DXD ? Sample
rate ? Sample size ?

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Web Interface not updating to reflect working plugins.

2019-08-17 Thread paul.burden

Hi
Yesterday I did a full uninstall and reinstall (deleting all previous
files) of LMS. I am now running v 7.9.2 - 1565851052 @ Thu Aug 15
09:08:10 on a HP Proliant Micro Server Windows Home Server 2011 machine.
I have successfully installed a number of plugins (eg. BBC iPlayer,
Radio Paradise). I can access these from my Squeezeboxes and Squeezebox
Boom and indeed from SqueezePlay, but they dont appear in the web
interface. This isnt life threatening, just irritating. Any ideas? I did
get some warnings about a missing ddl (libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll) when I was
installing LMS, but it didnt seem to cause any problems.

Cheers

Paul

We need to be sure what details of the "wav" files. Once determined -
then figure out if cue /wav oir cue/DSD is the issue.

I don't know much about DSD/DXD specifics but I did a test a while ago
and this is what drilling down to a DXD file with WAV extension looked

I've converted one of my m4a+cue files to wav+cue and it plays perfectly
using the default filetype settings, via Artists, Albums, and even via
the cue file in Music Folders (though it takes longer to find the start
point with wav files), so my apologies for my earlier misleading
suggestion.

That error message definitely indicates you should check the scanner.log

It was suggested to me, on the PCP topic, to do the following to make
the cue files work:

- within the WAV section: change PCM from "Native" to "Disabled" (you
could also disable the mp3 option, just to make sure)
- leave WAV -> FLAC as "flac/sox" (the sox is ONLY used if resampling is
required)

That is what I did. Nothing changed with the cue files or anything I
perceived.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on Raspberry Pi4

2019-08-17 Thread acanning

Morning All

I’ve just discovered this thread so I thought I’d chime in with my
Pi4/LMS experience.
I have been running LMS (Max2Play) on a Pi3 for a about 18 months and
it’s worked very well. The music is stored on a Nas and I regularly use
the Spotty and iPlayer plugins. I’d say that there were sometimes small
delays when browsing through my music collection but never anything to
worry about.

However, when the Pi4 was released temptation got the better of me so I
went ahead and purchased the 4gb version. I loaded up Max2Play (v2.5
beta) and away it went although this time feeling a good deal quicker
than before. I haven’t carried out any specific measurements but I’d say
the scanning isn’t much quicker than with the Pi3 which I guess is a
limitation of the Nas arrangement I have. The day to day browsing is
quicker though. I’m not sure whether the extra memory (4gb) is making a
big difference or not, I have tweaked the ‘Database Memory Config’ in
the Performance tab of LMS so perhaps the extra capacity is being used?

I store my Pi4 in a smallish cupboard which also houses my Nas, a
network switch and also my broadband fibre modem. This creates a fairly
warm environment for the Pi4. Initially I didn’t buy any kind of case
and opted to see how it operated ‘naked’. Running purely as an LMS
server it showed a temperature of around 62c at idle. This number was
taken from the Max2Play ‘settings/reboot’ screen so I assume it to be
accurate. This seemed a bit high for my liking so I looked around for a
case without a fan as I didn’t want to create any more noise. I settled
on this cheapo case….

It is also available on Amazon but I opted to import it from China (I
think) for about £10. It’s been successful as the Pi4 now idles at about
48c.
So all in all I’d say my Pi4 experience has been positive. I should
stress that there was no real need to upgrade from the Pi3 as it was
working perfectly but that’s not really the point

I’m wondering now how much better it would/could perform if I attach my
music files directly to the USB port………

Cheers

Yes to both questions. It's not one album, it's the same for all wav
files with several tracks inside them.

I managed to find the log files in a different way. What should I look
for inside them? Should I load it here?

This is the first time you have mentioned this error message. Under
settings/ advanced/file types what settings do you have for wav files.

I think that this stems from you making your selection of music from the
“music folder” area.
Most people start from the menu items Artist or Album or Genre and
therefore do not need any knowledge of how the file system or what the
file names are or even that there are .cue files

I suggest that you try that way and the Search function.

Nobody told me that until now, explicitly, that I could not play
anything by clicking on the cue file.

LMS scans the album, shows me tracks inside the cue file on those large
wav files, but it doesn't play them That is the problem.

I just want to play the tracks, I do not need to do it through the cue
file. Whatever way works for me.

But LMS refuses to play those large wav files with the tracks inside.

It's not a problem with the files, it's a problem on how LMS deals with
those files.

But the tracks will always appear a separate tracks. You can still play
the whole album. You have been told that you cannot play by clicking on
a cue file. But cue files are supported in the sense that they are
scanned by LMS and the tracks are entered into the database to be played
from there. Why do you have a need to play by clicking the cue file?

1) Problem one: clicking on the cue files does not work EVER. How do I

2) Problem two: clicking on the wav file, when it contains all the

3) When the themes files are separate I can play them alright, but the

How do I solve 1 and 2, where I can't play anything, or 3 to play the

You didn't make anything clear in this thread or the other one. You said
you could not play albums with cue files at all. Now it appears that you
can play them just not by clicking the cue file. So don't click the cue
