'Morning All, I have Presets on all my Radios (via the hardware buttons) and on my Touches (via the numeric keypad on the remotes). Is there a way of selecting a Player within the LMS GUI (or, eg, MaterialSkin on a phone / pad) and then selecting one of the Presets to play? I use the Default GUI usually, and I can't see a way of doing this. Those notes of mine were written a long time ago, I've discovered that with the *Presets Editor* plugin this has been simplified. You can assign a favourite to number buttons 1 - 6 using the Presets Editor at LMS > Settings > Player tab > *Presets Editor, *either before or after you've done the settings on the Touch. Then on your Touch - Settings > Advanced > Beta Features > Shortcuts Scroll down to "*IR Hold 1"* right arrow *>* scroll down to "*Set preset 1"* right arrow *>* the screen will now show "*IR Hold 1 (custom)*" >From "*IR Hold 1 (custom)"* right arrow *>* scroll down and select "*Play peset 1*" Repeat the above for the remaining number buttons (16 only) there is no Set preset or Play preset for number buttons 0,7,8,9). A long press on number button 1 will now play the preset that you assign(ed) to that button using the *Presets Editor*. If you have done this correctly, a long press on the number button should start your assigned favourite. Mine does. From the "Now Playing" screen a long press on number button #1 starts the track "Come Away with me" which is what is assigned to that button (pic below). Code: presets: *5 So... today I learned that * are used to create references within a a yaml file. Somehow the data structure in LMS must have become corrupted, creating references between some players instead of copies. I highly suspect the SettingsManager plugin. If it was in core LMS, we'd have these kinds of issues much more often. In Perl this can happen quickly, if you eg. simply say "sync preference a on player 1 with preference a on player 2", and you implement this by assigning the same value whenever "a" changes. Thanks for the suggestion. I poked around in server.prefs and found lots
I don't understand, but also maybe an important clue.
After I cleared out all of my existing Presets using the PresetEditor
plugin to try to start from scratch, each of my 4 Radios showed this
value in server.pref:
PRESETS: *5
Next I tried adding a Preset manually to my bedroom Radio by holding the
physical button. The bizarre result is that the preset was added to
server.pref under my Squeezebox Touch! The change to server.pref under
my Touch player looks like this:

If you disconnect one radio from the network (for example turn it off and remove the battery) ... are there any errors reported in your logs when you add a preset on a different radio? When you subsequently reconnect that radio does it pick up the new preset? Do all your Radios have unique names? YES Are all your Radios controlling themselves, or another player? EACH RADIO IS ONLY CONTROLLING ITSELF. Are your Radios synched? I just connected the radio to a new instance of LMS and it has no presets. Is there no way to -create- presets using the presets editor? Now as we found out, that adding the custom random playlist to an existing playlist does exactly what I want, it queues one song after another, only including my own music. Has anyone turned on logging for randomplay? I just tried it and get the following server log. It seems to be saying that a play command is terminating the "cyclic" mode. Thanks a lot! That was very helpful. I committed a change to LMS 8 which will hopefully address this issue. If DSTM is set to local tracks only surely thats pretty much the same as a never ending random play limited to a couple of genres? Strange :confused::confused: Just as a test and to speed things up, on the Random Mix page I have *Now Playing will show 3 upcoming songs, and 3 recently played songs*. DSTM is disabled. 31260 Clear playlist and start the Jazz-Rock favourite, as expected this adds 3 tracks, plays them, then stops. However: Clear playlist and start the Jazz-Rock favourite, it adds 3 tracks, as its playing add the Jazz-Rock favourite again. When the first 3 tracks have played, it starts the 2nd set of 3, but this time it adds a track to the end of the playlist, and continues to add a track just after the previous track has ended. So in my case its always showing "Now Playing - 4 of 7". When i start a random songs from within random mix, it does exactly what I am looking for: it always adds one song after one song has finished. This item starts a new random mix of the included genres. As soon as this new playlist starts, after every song a new song gets added to the playlist. Thanks a lot! It sounds silly, but I cannot find this setting anywhere in the web ui . I cannot find random play, only random mix. And there is “Add new tracks...” is activated. So when I play a random mix, new tracks are added. But when I play my presets which are also random, no new track are added. Your example didn't show it, but your randomplay URLs don't have the "dontContinue" parameter in them? I created presets, for example: randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Reggae,Latin,R%26B,Afro This starts a random playlist of Jazz,Reggae, R and Afro. It queues 10 songs, after that DSTM kicks in and queues new items with the help of LastMix. Configure RandomPlay to automatically add new tracks. Hello, I created presets, for example: randomplay://track?genres=Jazz,Reggae,Latin,R%26B,Afro This starts a random playlist of Jazz,Reggae, R and Afro. It queues 10 songs, after that DSTM kicks in and queues new items with the help of LastMix. But is it possible, to not let DSTM kick in, but let LMS Random feature continue to queue the songs? I would rather use the standard random feature, because LastMix would take 5 random songs as seeds, and this could lead to a loss of a genre... Of course i can use the Random mix feature and include/exclude genres, but this is changing it for all players, globally. While the presets are player specific. I hope you can understand what i mean. I hope someone can help me. Is it possible to get presets as an Apllication ? Can you elaborate? An app certainly can get the presets, if that's what you're asking for. I was wondering if there was any way to assign a preset by long press on button (instead of connecting to LMS webui) I've tried to add some command by sbpd_commands.cfg : Code: FAV1=["button","preset_1.hold"] SPR1=["button","1.hold"] Through sbpd output I can see the command are called but nothing happens with the preset list... Any idea? maybe I'm not using the right function but I don't see anything relevant in the Default.map on LMS.
