No other ideas.

I tried the site with both JavaScript disabled and only loading images

Then I tried with JavaScript enabled but still only loading images that

No, I don't have NoScript, so I can't enable/disable it.

FWIW, Instructing to latest stable is well and good, but I do avoid it
when the issue is likely something else.

In this case people on 2.2, 2.1, and 2.0.14 experienced the site working
fine, which implied the issue was something else. Figuring out what was
different between OPs system and all us other users where it worked fine
was what would help in that case, not a blind update.

Also Unless the issue is ABSOLUTELY required, I won't instruct a user to
upgrade to any beta/release-candidate/alpha/whatever. I'll happily
accept and recommend people who care heavily about our direction/wish to
test to go on those, and advocate that our beta's are relatively stable,
but see no big need to suggest it.

*IF* there was a fix on a beta that is not on a stable release, I'll
mention it, but along with a workaround if there is one.

I doubt that's the problem. For one thing, another user in this thread
reported the same error, but he could view the map. For another, my FiOS
connection generally supports downloads of 25 MB or so per minute. I
routinely download 400-500 MB movie clips in 15-20 minutes without error.

Since I have this trouble but others with the same version of SM do not,
it seems unlikely to be a problem with the site and is more likely an
issue with my settings, corruption of some configuration or program

I do use AdBlock Plus, so I tried disabling it -- first for the site

reports blocking over a hundred items on this page, but unblocking them
didn't reveal the map.

Well the idea that VEMap is a variable in the file, on that site, and an
error like that will terminate script execution sounds like it *IS* that
issue.

OK, so how do you account for the visitors who /can/ view the map? Are
their copies of SM 2.0.14 magically immune to the error?

A corrupt download of the .js file specified could do that too. Try the
shift+reload please.

Been there, done that. Several times. I've visited the site probably 20
times since we've been discussing this -- what do you think are the
chances that each and every time, this particular js file was corrupted

From one stroke sufferer to another (15 years ago)

Richard, a while ago, I made the move from SM 1.1.17 (I think) to SM
2.0. I installed 2.0 into a separate location and, as part of the
installation process, it found the SM 1 profile and did some conversion
to produce the SM 2 profile...Note the SM 1 profile was left alone.

Further upgrades through to SM 2.0.14 happened automatically and I'm
waiting for the newly produced SM 2.2 to make the upgrade process
automatic, as well.

I *think* if you installed SM 2.2 it would find the SM 1 profile and do
the conversion, but it might be safer if you installed SM 2 just for the
conversion.

Other more knowledgeable people will drop by with their opinions.

How do I make sure this happens.

The best way PROBABLY is to FIRST upgrade to the latest update of 2.0
(that would be 2.0.14, I think). That will automatically *copy* your
profile to a new location (your old 1.1.18 profile will remain unaffected).

Note that you SHOULD NOT install Seamonkey 2.x in the same location you
have Seamonkey 1.1.18 currently. I think the default install locations
won't attempt to do it anyway, but you shouldn't force the issue.

You can then upgrade from 2.0 to 2.2 (or later) in the normal way.

why not do it in one step? Well, you could, but later versions of
Seamonkey are unable to import some minor stuff from the old profile --
I think the only thing lost is the download history. Since you said you
want to keep ALL the info, the two-step process is better.

Note that many (most?) of your add-ons will probably stop working, and
you will have to either upgrade to a later, SM-2.X compatible version,
or to find a suitable replacement.

I should mention that back when Seamonkey 2 was originally offered, some
people had minor problems with upgrading. I don't recall exactl

Got interrupted here... well, one issue I do remember is that if you
uninstall Seamonkey 1.1.x AFTER installing 2.0, it might take your
application icons and such with you. Reinstalling 2.0 usually solves the
problem.

Alternately, you might want to uninstall Seamonkey 1.1.18 BEFORE
installing 2.0. This WON'T damage your profile.

Look under File/Print Set-up/Margins, headers, and footersand select
the options that best fit your printing requirements.

If you select the Date for headers or footers you have the options to
place the date left justified, center, and right justified when you
print a mail message, or a web page.

I wouldn't argue about the security implications... but yes the default
is set to enable (I turn off/on using Prefbar). I reckon that is the
reason for the other bug reports; meaning they plan to remove the option
to turn off/on altogether in the Preferences UI on SeaMonkey. This is
one area that I think that SeaMonkey should stick to their guns and
leave the Preferences option to turn Java on/off in *and* ensure that it
works properly.

Slight added note: if you reference a bug report it is helpful to
include the url to the bug report rather than simply referring to it by
number. This way, folks not familar with bugzilla can easily click on
the link to review/comment. So your report is:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=672665
and the bug that your bug was duped to:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512378
Which btw IMO isn't resolved/fixed as it apparently doesn't work in SM
2.1 or 2.2 that indeed can be a security issue. You might want to add
your comments there.

OK, I added some verbage to
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=512378 for whatever impact
they'll have.
Thanks for your comment re including the URL of the bug for folks' ease

This is very confusing, but I think I now understand what is happening.
The following applies to SeaMonkey at least through version 2.2.

It appears that the Java checkbox at [Edit Preference Advanced] and
the Java checkbox in PrefBar both modify the preference variable
security.enable_java. However, changing the checkmark at [Edit
Preference Advanced] does not change the checkmark in PrefBar; but
changing the checkmark in PrefBar does change the checkmark at [Edit
Preference Advanced]. Changing it at either place, does change
security.enable_java.

Toggling security.enable_java via about:config does show the changes at
[Edit Preference Advanced] but not in PrefBar. Thus, there is an
error in PrefBar in how it displays the current state of
security.enable_java. This is a display problem and not a problem with
using PrefBar to toggle security.enable_java.

In any case, if security.enable_java is false or true, Java is
disabled or enabled. It is not yet necessary to use the Add-ons
Manager. The elimination of the use of security.enable_java to control
Java will likely be implemented in SeaMonkey 2.3 or shortly thereafter,
when the Add-on Manager will become the only way to disable or enable
Java.

My finding was that the state of security.enable_java has no impact on
the execution status of Java in SM 2.1 or 2.2. That only via the AOM can
Java be enabled or disabled, which seems to be what the bugzilla reports
are saying. I didn't play with the settings directly in prefs.js or via
about:config so I may be wrong. Anyway, we've probably spent enough time
on this.

I noticed that as well when I tried them out. 2.2 wouldn't even display
graphics in email. was set to allow. But it wiped out all plugins that
would handle the graphics so I went back to 2.0.19

I'm not sure if your vitriol was meant against us Developers/People who
do code/work on SeaMonkey in our free time.

Or if it was against the users who constantly post here with suggestions
about the software they choose to use for their daily lives, but have no
coding knowledge.

Either way, PLEASE take this sort of comments elsewhere, they are
unwelcome on these newsgroups.

(I for one, do NOT expect every suggestion/user/complaint to be
accompanied by code in any form; while those who can help by coding
their thoughts are certainly more likely to have their solution in
SeaMonkey earlier, that is mostly due to time constraints on us few who
do the work.)
