Using 2.11 and 2.12b6 linux I have no problem (see my other post with
screenshot links).

Just switched to Windows & see the same as you (in both 2.11 and
2.12b6). If I turn off website fonts & use my own it's ok in Windows.

Not my experience. No matter how I zoom in or out, the "H" has a
crossbar. And it's pointless to argue about taste.

Have you looked at your size preferences? If you set a minimum size
that is smaller than my minimum size, you may get something too
small/thin for you while I get something large/thick enough for
me.

Minimum font size is 13. I had it bigger before I had cataract
surgery and premium lens implants two years ago. This is on a 19"
Dell Ultra Sharp LCD 5:4 ratio at 1280x1024.

Mine is 16 points, but as I've said I can reduce that with CTRL-minus
and it doesn't get hard to read until I do it three times. And why would
I want to?

I use an HP S2031 series wide LCD monitor at 1600x900. The physical size
of the display is 10x17", so Pythagoras would put the diagonal at 19.7",
and the marketing department would call it 21". ;-)

I can make it hard to read by doing CTRL-minus three times, but
contrast is not the issue with black type against a white
background. Even "TOS," in a non-bold light blue font, is legible
for me.

But if you use Opera with Verdana there then "TOS" is bolded and is a
much brighter blue. That Mozilla website looks great on Opera
andlousy (with or without Verdana font) on Mozilla based browsers.
That is what? Funny? Sad? Stupid? I don't know which but definitely
negative that Mozilla can't get their own site to look good, or work
right, on their own browsers but looks great and works fine on
Opera.

I just looked at it with Internet Exploiter 9, and it looked the same
(though the key moved quicker when I moused over "Take the tour"). I was
able to reduce the font size far enough to make it illegible, but the
default 100% zoom is fine.

The only /real/ difference I noted was that IE displayed the page in
English (doesn't seem to know as SM does that I can read Russian).

It was suggested to me, on a Fx forum, that the problem I am
having there with all Mozilla browsers might be due to my not
allowing the website to download and use its font, but forcing it
to use Verdana. So, I changed temporarily in Preferences (and
Options in Fx) to allow websites to use their font of choice. It
made no difference regarding the login button I can't see. I
still couldn't see it and whatever font that is that Mozilla

That's interesting because for me and one other poster in this thread it is
the Calibri font that makes that page hard to read. The "H" in "How it
Works" at the top right side is missing the horizontal cross bar and the
left side vertical bar is extremely faint. That's just one example. Switch
to Verdana and everything looks fine and is easy to read and nothing at the
bottom is washed out looking.

Yes, I have JavaScript enabled. I don't use NoScript. I do use the

Proxo is bypassed there. In case there was, somehow, still some influence

Yes, I like to test stuff and I am curious. I think it could be a good

Hope you solve your problem. I posted my observations, but yours seems

It's behind the footer. Resizing the window and shift-reloading the
page should work around that. It's just bad styling, using absolute
positioning for the footer along with content which can end up behind
the footer. With JavaScript on, the main content of the page won't be
drawn under the footer, but with it off, it will.

Resizing the window worked ONCE but after that it did not work. On Sea
Monkey I see nothing when the page loads after resizing worked once. On Fx
10 ESR, resizing did not work even once but on Fx, since I tried that, I see
the button for just a moment as the page loads and then it disappears.
Refreshing the page has no effect.

I have no idea why Desiree can't see it, but View » Page Style » No
Style should be a viable workaround for anybody on this page.

Switching to No Style doesn't work . Why would you say that would work? No
Style is not good on any webpage. I did use it on Iron browser when I had
Iron because Chrome is so crude a browser that it doesn't allow (or didn't
then at least) to set your own link colors and it uses a garish blue color
for unvisited links. So, I used No Style there so my link colors would be
used.

It's behind the footer. Resizing the window and shift-reloading the
page should work around that. It's just bad styling, using absolute
positioning for the footer along with content which can end up behind
the footer. With JavaScript on, the main content of the page won't be
drawn under the footer, but with it off, it will.

I have no idea why Desiree can't see it, but View » Page Style » No
Style should be a viable workaround for anybody on this page.

When I disabled JavaScript, and restarted SeaMonkey the button did not
appear for me.

Just reporting what I saw, and here is a screenshot.

JavaScript is not the issue. The button appears here in both the
current SM and FF, Javascript turned on or off.

The button is created entirely using new CSS3 properties, particularly
the -moz-linear-gradient for background-image and border-radius. I
didn't think you could turn off just the CSS3 properties, but sounds
like Desiree managed to do that.

Mozilla downloads some weird font that causes the problems you describe. I
have Sea Monkey set to use only the font I tell it to use (Verdana) and the
cross bar in the "H" looks fine and "Take the tour" is crisp and clear and
not at all faint.

Looks like Verdana to me, but I don't see "How it works" at all. I see:

Как это работает Разработчики Войти

... which of course is the Russian version.

It was suggested to me, on a Fx forum ,that the problem I am having there
with all Mozilla browsers might be due to my not allowing the website to
download and use its font, but forcing it to use Verdana. So, I changed
temporarily in Preferences (and Options in Fx) to allow websites to use
their font of choice. It made no difference regarding the login button I
can't see. I still couldn't see it and whatever font that is that Mozilla
downloads is terrible.

The only problem I have with "Take the tour" is the color -- not enough
contrast with the gray background. But that may just be my aging eyes.

If I mouse over the "Sign up" button, the key to the left of "Connect
with Mozilla Persona..." slides into the lock, leaving only a little
showing.

It is late. Somehow, I completely missed your link in your first post. Duh.
I have looked at your screenshot now. So, you have no problem seeing the
signup button.

I wish I could figure out why I can't see that on Mozilla based browsers but
can on IE and Opera.

So, aside from the crappy font and Mozilla's Persona team apparently not

Can't Signup for Mozilla Persona

2012-08-26 Thread Desiree
When I go to https://login.persona.org/, even in Safe Mode, on Sea Monkey
2.11 on XP Pro, I get a mostly blank page and cannot see the signup button.
Sometimes, I can see it just for a second, as the page loads, IF I don't
blink and page loading is slower than usual. So, I think something is
causing the button to disappear immediately. I have no idea what though.

I have the same problem with Fx 4 and Fx 10 ESR. On IE 8, I can see the
signup button, and can click on it, but then the next page where you signup
shows only a red, horizontal line across the middle of the page. Opera
12.01 though loves the site and the site works perfectly on it. I see the
signup button and on the next page I can signup. (Of course, I haven't
signed up as all browsers I use need to work properly at the site).
