I am having the exact opposite experience. WE9.1 with latest tbird and
ff is faster and more accurate then earlier versions. I have almost no
crashes that cannot be fixed by simply tabing in and out of a program
which was not the case in earlier versions.

My system is win7 32 bit home so its simplicity may be why it is more
stable then yours.

It really doesn't matter what I do, I just can't seem to effect any change in

The version I am attempting to make use of is called Reader DC. I have no
idea what DC means, but I'm starting to think it means don't care, as in
don't care what I do!

Like I said previously, I can just convert the .pdf files to text, but it's
just the principal of the thing. I should be getting a bit more cooperation
from this thing.

Oh well, I can certainly find better things to do than struggle with this
thing, so I think I'll just put it aside for a while and start doing more to
copy and organize files on this new system. Maybe even install my scanner and
see if I can't get my old Openbook 8 to work as well.

If you come up with some more ideas, please send them along.

Take care,

RE: Refreshes And browsing the web issues

2015-04-08 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: That could be several problems all related to, well, refreshing the
WebPage via JavaScript or Flash or some other dynamics.
To skip the possibilities of how the page is laid out, if it uses frames or
other areas for specific dynamics or if the page is refreshing or if you are
in a dynamic zone and all that jazz...
There is a setting in the WindowEyes Control Panel someplace that says
something about Automatic Page Refreshes and if you turn that off that might
help if you are lucky.
Also, I have the browse mode turned off everyplace I could find it to avoid
ending up in a edit field and seemingly having no keyboard responses with
the arrow keys - sometimes I get this anyway and it may be either a WE
problem or that the Website somehow changes something to an edit field on
load after focus is set or something - don't have a clue here.
But try turning off the auto Refresh Page setting in the WE Control Panel
wherever you find it and see if that helps.
Again I use WE 9.1 on a 64 bit Windows 8.1 machine and Internet Explorer
avoiding non MS software since WE is a MS Partner.

Hello,

I am using the latest edition of Firefox, Win XP and Window Eyes 8.4.

Both Ebay.com and Youtube.com will allow me to scroll down the Web
Page for a few lines, and then it seems like the page refreshes
itself, Starting me over at the very Top of the Web Page.

I can Page Down, and it will attempt to Refresh, but if I keep
hammering the Page Down key, I get lots of verbale garbage, but can
eventually get close to the line I wish, but more often than not,
after pressing the Down Arrow key two three times, the Screen
refreshes and once again I am back at the top of the Web page.

I can use NVDA, and I wil, but I would rather use Window eyes.

Does anyone have a solution?

Thanks,

Dave

The mouse keys not working is a problem with Firefox versions after
about 31, so its not going to work. The descending tones are a timing
problem and you can just restart WE after your system comes up and
things will work normally after that -- at least that is what I did.

i have to turn browse mode and autoload off before i press control i for the

browse mode and autoload back on and firefox will continue to work.

this is with win 7 64bit.
i have set firefox back to factory defaults and this did not make any

RE: browsing the web issues

2015-04-08 Thread Rick Thomas via Talk
Hi: I too find some problems that have been mentioned by others so havent
posted about them much.
WE 9.1 is better than WE 8.4 sometimes, sometimes not.
Often, when I go to a web page and try and do something quickly WE will lock
up, or the browser or something will lock up.
No keystrokes for the most part will work.
I can alt-tab around and hear something sometimes but it makes little sense
until I turn on narrator and then can usually either close the browser or
otherwise get speech and keyboard back.
Sometimes just turning on narrator and navigating around will bring back
windoweyes without doing anything else.
Inconsistency is the keyword here making documenting the problem
problematic.
These lockups also seem to happen in Outlook if I open a message and try and
navigate too quickly.
The mouse, or the read screen, will sometimes read the message but the
arrow keys, tab and other keyboard keys do nothing.
I have to ReBoot, think I had a ReStart of WE work once don't remember.
But usually both problems seemingly occur when I am in a hurry and more and
more seems a problem related to try and do something before WE is ready -
perhaps, mabey, er could be?
In outlook the only thing I heear in the dead messages is that the first one
is usually Plain Text - don't know if that helps or if it is even relevant
since I have not tracked these problems in any detail.
All messages, plain text or not after that are locked until I ReBoot.
So, lately, I open the browser or Outlook Messages and wait until I hear WE
reading freely then continue.
Again, inconsistency makes it difficult to nail down the exact cause and,
since I am usually in a hurry when it happens, I have no better details than
mentioned above.
Anyway, these are my thoughts on these types of problems. Try and wait to
hear we read how many links are on a page or on a Outlook message or other
information before trying to hit any keys and see if that helps with the
dead lockups.
If it does post up so the AI Squared team has something to narrow the
problem parameters.

messages from lists that are on yahoogroups or googlegroups. Pam.

The mouse keys not working is a problem with Firefox versions after
about 31, so its not going to work. The descending tones are a timing
problem and you can just restart WE after your system comes up and
things will work normally after that -- at least that is what I did.

Brandon Miller via Talk talk@lists.window-eyes.com wrote:

Yeah, it's happening to me too. It seems to happen to me when I'm
using Mozilla products. Specifically, Firefox and Thunderbird. It's
like Window-eyes'll clip words, right? I audibly mentioned the whole
lines not reading correctly thing to the Ai Squared staff when I
called in the other day when I had another, completely unrelated
question about Window-eyes. Also, just so y'all know, I was told by Ai
Squared personnel that it is not possible to repair an installation of
Window-eyes if for whatever reason you should want or need to do
so. You've just got to uninstall and then re-install the whole kit and
caboodle. The reasons I asked about just repairing my current Wineyes
installation were many. Have any of you heard the descending tones
when logging in to systems with multiple users set up? I was hearing
that, and to me that seems strange and like it shouldn't be happening
because it could be indicative of Wineyes (or one of its related
processes) slowing down the overall Windows start up procedure and who
wants that? Also, the whole lines not reading correctly thing. Oh and
lastly, sometimes in Firefox whenever the Adobe Flash player tries to
do certain things on web pages all I can get Wineyes to say without
manually executing restorative procedures is, C2Cx16. C2CX16. Wow!
That is not helpful at all, in any way whatsoever! Also in Mozilla
products (Firefox and Thunderbird) the mouse reading keys still do not
work for me. The Ai Squared technical support staff representative
that I spoke with thought the mouse keys not reading in Mozilla
products had been addressed some time ago. Thoughts?

Hi, just google Adobe reader XI download.that will find it! The reason you're
taking back to the downloads page that you downloaded it from, is Adobe reader
remembers the last version you downloaded. People have been trapped with this
before.thank you.

Is there a diference?
But that is not my question.
When I want to read a file letter by letter, one at a time I route the mouse
to the file name but right mouse key reads the whole entry and not one
letter at a time as it use to.
How Do I read a file name one letter at a time?

Urgently need an accessible Sip phone

2015-04-08 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland via Talk
OK, it's official. I use an Asterisk PBX in a Flash Purple server with the
Freepbx web admin interface within my company.

I have used NCH Express Talk in the past on the free non-business Edition and
it worked flawlessly. Now however, I'm getting network routing issues left and
right when trying to use the app. Seeing that this list is about Window-Eyes,
not networking, let me just stay on topic by not boring you all with the
specifics there, as doing so would mean me writing an entire novel nearly!

To make a long story short, I'm a certified network admin, and I definitely!
know for the most part how to configure most home based, and business based
routers. This particular router I have here at home where I'm running Express
Talk is the Linksys WRT1900AC with the Smart Wifi web interface tool.
Admittedly, it's probably not the easiest router I've ever configured from
Linksys, but, it does work very well once set up correctly. Anyway, back to my
main point, I read through all the documentation at least 5 or 6 times to
Express Talk paying very close attention to the sections about networking, NAT,
etc. It's also important that I add that I don't have these network issues
with any of the sip phones I've used both on my IPhone/IPad, nor on my Android
devices. Therefore, I know the issue is not on the server end. There's
nothing I need to SSH into as root and change server side. Trust me to it, I
looked. Basically, keeping it very incredibly general, it's telling me
certain ports need to be opened and unblocked even though they already have
been.

When I wrote the Express Talk community forums, it's been literally now almost
two weeks and I still! haven't gotten a single response up there. I even wrote
their tech support directly, and got absolutely no response. I even wrote
their sales department and told them I wanted a full refund, and they are not
answerring. So, yeah, needless to say, I'll be disputing this with my bank.

Meanwhile though, I really need to get up and running on my PC with a sip phone
so I can make and receive business calls. So, what else, aside from Express
Talk is out there which I could use that is accessible with Window-Eyes? I
know that XLite definitely isn't, and neither is Bria, which is the paid
verwsion. I hear there was Linphone, but last I tried on the Windows side, it
kind a sucked. On Linux it worked OK from the terminal shell, but that's aside
the point. I need it to be able to connect on things other than just IPV6.
I'm not sure if PBX in a Flash supports that out of the box. I don't think it
does. I also need to accessibly with the phone be able to do call transfer, I
need to be able to hold and resume calls as needed, and preferably mute and
unmute my microphone. Conferencing accessibly would be very helpful, although
by absolutely no means is it required. Call waiting ability as far as
accessibility goes would be nice too, although again, by no mean
 s is it required.

XLite would work, if it wasn't that holding/transferring doesn't appear to be
accessible. Otherwise, I'd do it gladly.

Any ideas? Oh! S-J Phone, was another I heard kind of worked, although I
never could seem to really figure it out the few times I tried it.

Chris.

Rick,
1. arrow to the file name you want to read.
2. Press f2 to rename.
3. use your left and right arrow keys to read the file character by character.
4. Press escape to cancel the rename.

Or you can download and install a replacement file manager such as Xplorer 2.
IMHO it has more features then Windows Explorer.

When I am in Google Chrome, I get the message that there is no such

Another example is that when I go into the Knowledge base while using
Firefox, I type the word Office, and I get a list of articles relating

Office in the search box, i get the message not found.
Is this a bug in Chrome, or am I missing something?

No you can't. As has always been the case you can only download the 9.1
upgrade to install on an existing installation of Window-Eyes.

Re: Lines not reading correctly and repairing Wineyes installations

2015-04-08 Thread Pamela Dominguez via Talk
I did that yesterday with the help of somebody from AI squared, and the
problem is still there. I also have a problem if I am reading or writing an
email where if a new message comes in, window eyes shuts up, so I can't
proof the message I am writing. If I am reading messages, I have to escape
out of the message and get into it again and the speech will be there, but I
obviously can't do this while I am writing one. Pam.

Hi,
Just install your current Window-eyes over itself.
This has worked for me to fix some Window-eyes install issues.
It is like repairing.
Help/check for updates.

Yeah, it's happening to me too. It seems to happen to me when I'm using
Mozilla products. Specifically, Firefox and Thunderbird. It's like
Window-eyes'll clip words, right? I audibly mentioned the whole lines
not reading correctly thing to the Ai Squared staff when I called in the
other day when I had another, completely unrelated question about
Window-eyes. Also, just so y'all know, I was told by Ai Squared
personnel that it is not possible to repair an installation of
Window-eyes if for whatever reason you should want or need to do so.
You've just got to uninstall and then re-install the whole kit and
caboodle. The reasons I asked about just repairing my current Wineyes
installation were many. Have any of you heard the descending tones when
logging in to systems with multiple users set up? I was hearing that,
and to me that seems strange and like it shouldn't be happening because
it could be indicative of Wineyes (or one of its related processes)
slowing down the overall Windows start up procedure and who wants that?
Also, the whole lines not reading correctly thing. Oh and lastly,
sometimes in Firefox whenever the Adobe Flash player tries to do certain
things on web pages all I can get Wineyes to say without manually
executing restorative procedures is, C2Cx16. C2CX16. Wow! That is not
helpful at all, in any way whatsoever! Also in Mozilla products (Firefox
and Thunderbird) the mouse reading keys still do not work for me. The Ai
Squared technical support staff representative that I spoke with thought
the mouse keys not reading in Mozilla products had been addressed some
time ago. Thoughts?

how to get back the feature we goes silent use control alt w.

Hello. I recently had to download the freedom scientific reader which

whenever I press control alt w window eyes should start up
automatically, but nothing happens. I even have the hot keys set to that
combination. How do I get that back cause if I am in lets just say

Re: Urgently need an accessible Sip phone

2015-04-08 Thread via Talk
Make sure that the sip alg in your router is turned off! I have had so
many problems working with routers with broken sip implementations.

Christopher-Mark Gilland via Talk talk@lists.window-eyes.com wrote:

OK, it's official. I use an Asterisk PBX in a Flash Purple server with the
Freepbx web admin interface within my company.

I have used NCH Express Talk in the past on the free non-business Edition and
it worked flawlessly. Now however, I'm getting network routing issues left
and right when trying to use the app. Seeing that this list is about
Window-Eyes, not networking, let me just stay on topic by not boring you all
with the specifics there, as doing so would mean me writing an entire novel
 nearly!

To make a long story short, I'm a certified network admin, and I definitely!
know for the most part how to configure most home based, and business based
routers. This particular router I have here at home where I'm running
Express Talk is the Linksys WRT1900AC with the Smart Wifi web interface tool.
Admittedly, it's probably not the easiest router I've ever configured from
Linksys, but, it does work very well once set up correctly. Anyway, back to
my main point, I read through all the documentation at least 5 or 6 times to
Express Talk paying very close attention to the sections about networking,
NAT, etc. It's also important that I add that I don't have these network
issues with any of the sip phones I've used both on my IPhone/IPad, nor on my
Android devices. Therefore, I know the issue is not on the server end.
There's nothing I need to SSH into as root and change server side. Trust me
to it, I looked. Basically, keeping it very incredibly general, it's telling
 m
 e
certain ports need to be opened and unblocked even though they already have
 been.

When I wrote the Express Talk community forums, it's been literally now
almost two weeks and I still! haven't gotten a single response up there. I
even wrote their tech support directly, and got absolutely no response. I
even wrote their sales department and told them I wanted a full refund, and
they are not answerring. So, yeah, needless to say, I'll be disputing this
 with my bank.

Meanwhile though, I really need to get up and running on my PC with a sip
phone so I can make and receive business calls. So, what else, aside from
Express Talk is out there which I could use that is accessible with
Window-Eyes? I know that XLite definitely isn't, and neither is Bria, which
is the paid verwsion. I hear there was Linphone, but last I tried on the
Windows side, it kind a sucked. On Linux it worked OK from the terminal
shell, but that's aside the point. I need it to be able to connect on things
other than just IPV6. I'm not sure if PBX in a Flash supports that out of
the box. I don't think it does. I also need to accessibly with the phone be
able to do call transfer, I need to be able to hold and resume calls as
needed, and preferably mute and unmute my microphone. Conferencing
accessibly would be very helpful, although by absolutely no means is it
required. Call waiting ability as far as accessibility goes would be nice
too, although again, by no me
 an
  s is it required.

XLite would work, if it wasn't that holding/transferring doesn't appear to be
accessible. Otherwise, I'd do it gladly.

Any ideas? Oh! S-J Phone, was another I heard kind of worked, although I
never could seem to really figure it out the few times I tried it.

 Chris.

RE: how to post A coment to someones face book posting on your facebook page

2015-04-08 Thread Smith, Veronica via Talk
Posting to Facebook.
First of all, using the mobile site is blind person friendly. The original
site is just a nightmare.
When I want to Post, I first press the letter e to actually find the edit
field, then I type in what I want to say, then I tab to Post. It is there and
it does read it.
The thing I cannot find is the Tag friends. Somehow a while ago, I got on a
mailing list and every time they change something, they send me an email asking
if a blind person can access it.
They have made changes in the last few months, but I have not received anything
inquiring, so perhaps they think its okay. If I find an email address, I will
send them feedback.

I know have been there, done that several times still can not get that
to work even I know I do have the key combo control alt w in the
properties on the desktop still does not work. I did find that if you go
in to the search box in the start menu and type in window eyes when you
are on that result, use the context key on the keyboard it is the one
key on the right side of the keyboard if you are going from the space
bar from left to right it is the third key, or the second key from the
control key still referring the right side of the space bar, anyway you
hit the context key a menu will pop up and you want to arrow down to
where it says to pin to task bar. Then that way you can use the windows
key along with the number row to hit for example: windows key the number
one. I have done that and that has worked. I even made a short cut for
NVDA in that kind of way. I only have two things pinned to the task bar
and it is a easy way to go. Hope I could help you out.

You can not download the full version of Window-eyes 9.1 from the web.
you simply can not do it, no matter how you slice it. You can download an
upgrade file, but not the full version of 9.1.
I think that's a neat idea that the AI squared guys should think about
doing in the future, as a lot of companies are moving away from delivering
their programs on physical media.

Again, Brendon, no! He cannot do that. The 9.1 he will download is an
upgrade, not a full installation. It requires Window-Eyes to be
installed in order to upgrade that existing installation.

My problem of lines not reading correctly doesn't have to do with lines
cutting off. It has to do with how they appear. I have to up arrow to get
to lines that appear to be missing. This is windows live mail, and only
messages from lists that are on yahoogroups or googlegroups.

Thoughts?

Re: can't install WE 9.1 update on Win 8.1 Dell computer

2015-04-08 Thread Marc Solomon via Talk
This is true for retail copies of Window-Eyes. But, a full 9.1 installer can be
obtained from www.windoweyesforoffice.com. Assuming you have Office 2010 or
2013 installed, you could install 9.1 from scratch and run it. So, it would be
helpful to know if the person owns a retail license our instead is using
Window-Eyes for users of Microsoft Office.
Thanks,
Marc Solomon

for some reason there are times when the shortcuts do stop working even
though the right keys are defined in the icon properties.;

i think this is a windows 7 problem.
if i change the keys, save the change and go back in and put the w back in
and save the change they will start working again.

It took me a while but I got it done. I wish I could help you. Are you

Good luck.

Thanks,

Dave

If you are running windows 8 or later I must once again recommend the
windows app for facebook. Everything I have tried to do works like a dream
with the keyboard. It is fully accessible with window-eyes.
Another thing to note is once you have posted a comment on a facebook post
you should get an e-mail that will inform you that so and so has also
commented on what ever status. Read the message and if you want to add to
it just reply to the message say what ever it is you have to say and send
the message. Hth

Posting to Facebook.
First of all, using the mobile site is blind person friendly. The original
site is just a nightmare.
When I want to Post, I first press the letter e to actually find the edit
field, then I type in what I want to say, then I tab to Post. It is there
and it does read it.
The thing I cannot find is the Tag friends. Somehow a while ago, I got on a
mailing list and every time they change something, they send me an email
asking if a blind person can access it.
They have made changes in the last few months, but I have not received
anything inquiring, so perhaps they think its okay. If I find an email
address, I will send them feedback.

facebook page

Hi,
No, I don't even think there is a button now! I think it's an edit field.in
any case.when you find the edit field, type in what you Wanna type! And
press enter.then it should post it.let me know how you go with this?

Warm Regards, Brendon Donohue

Hi okay I was wondering.
When you are going threw your Facebook page.
And one of your friends posts something and you hit the button to comment on
what they pasted.
After you write your comment then how to you find the button to post that
comment?
I can find the comment button but then after I write my comment I can find
the place to click to post my comment to that posting.
So any and all help is welcome.
