Hi Neville,

I'm running the current version of Outlook, and yours and the list's
addresses appeared in the To: field, separated by commas, when I pressed
Control-R on your message.
I wish I could help more. Smile

All the best,

Subject: obtaining email address in Outlook 13

Hi,

Using Outllook 2013, is it possible to obtain an email address for a list
member. If reply is pressed on a message, the list address is shown in the
"TO" fieldand not the sender's address. Saving a message in outlook does
not give all the details like it does with Thunderbird.

Also in Thunderbird, it is possible to display the message source but is
there an equivalent command in Outlook?

Thanks
Neville.

Article Windows 10 Anniversary Update rollout may not be done until early November

Windows 10 Anniversary Update rollout may not be done until early November

Microsoft is notifying Windows 10 users that the Anniversary Update may take
three months to roll out. Here's why.

By

Mary Jo Foley

September 13, 2016 -- 14:02 GMT (07:02 PDT)

| Topic:

Windows 10

If you still haven't gotten the Windows 10 Anniversary Update pushed to your
device yet, there may be some valid reasons why.

Microsoft began rolling out

the latest version of Windows 10, the Anniversary Update, on August 2

. At that time, Microsoft officials said the rollout would be staggered, but
didn't get too explicit as to how -- or how long it might take the company
to push Windows 10 Anniversary to consumers and business users who are on
the so-called Current Branch of Windows 10.

It's worth repeating that those who really want the Anniversary Update
immediately

have options to proactively go get it

. (And yes, the irony is not lost on me: Now that

Microsoft isn't force-feeding Windows 7 and 8 users Windows 10

, people who aren't being offered the latest Windows 10 update are asking
why they don't have it.)

I received a Microsoft blast email just over a week ago that included a
footnote that mentioned it might take up to three months for Microsoft to
push the Anniversary Update to those set up to get it. That means those
currently waiting may still have another month and a half to wait.

Here's the footnote from that email blast:

"The Anniversary Update will download and install via Windows Update. The
download is automatically available to you. It will begin rolling out on 2
August 2016 and may take up to 3 months to reach all users. Internet access
fees may apply," said the footnote to the email I received on September 1.

Some who've seen headlines about various problems introduced by the
Anniversary Update and subsequent cumulative update patches to it may be in
no hurry to get the latest feature update to Windows 10. There have been
reports of compatibility issues with the Anniversary Update and

McAfee security software ,

webcams ,

Kindles ,

PowerShell Desired State Configuration feature

 and more.

Microsoft is throttling delivery of Windows 10 Anniversary Update, and,
presumably, future updates, so company officials can keep tabs on what's
working and not as the update rolls out to the many, many permutations and
combinations of Windows machines where it's qualified to run. This is part
of the reason why Microsoft is obsessed with telemetry and has been for the
past few years.

I've seen lots of rumors percolating lately that Microsoft no longer does
its own Windows testing and doesn't have any Windows testers left since

the company cut a bunch of them a couple years ago

as part of one of the waves of layoffs Microsoft has had. Microsoft

changed the way it handled the testing function in Windows

in 2014 to shift more of the testing to the Windows developers working on
certain features, which resulted in the company cutting a number of its
existing dedicated testers.

I've asked my contacts about this and have been told there definitely are
hundreds, if not thousands, of Windows testers working for Microsoft.
Windows Insider testers are providing testing help through bug reporting
during the development process, too, but they are not the only Windows
testers. There are also corporations doing their own internal Windows 10
testing, plus hardware and software partners doing the same (hopefully) in
advance of Microsoft's release of Windows 10 feature updates.

I asked Microsoft for more information on how it's working to improve
quality and reliability in Windows 10, moving forward. I received this
statement from a spokesperson:

"Ensuring our customers have a positive experience with our products and
services is incredibly important to us and we take the quality and
reliability of our software seriously. When we deliver updates to more than
350 million devices, those builds have gone through extensive internal and
external testing. The vast majority of our customers have a high-quality,
positive experience with our updates and our goal is an issue-free
experience for everyone. For those who don't, we want to hear from them so
we can fix any issues as quickly as possible. We encourage our customers to
contact Customer Support."

With unhappy users having an ever-increasing number of ways to make their
complaints known through social channels and forums, I'm hoping that
Microsoft will take steps to let users know the potential impact of Windows
10 issues and be upfront about when they can expect workarounds and fixes.
More blog posts like this one with

resources for checking and improving application compatibility

would be welcome (especially ahead of new Windows 10 feature updates), as
wel

Window-Eyes 9.5.3 and Word 2016

2016-09-20 Thread Orlando Enrique Fiol via Talk
Hi all. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing the following
issue with the Window-eyes office addin being unable to load in Word
2016. I have an Office 365 subscription and am running the current
builds of Windows 10 and Window-eyes. Although the Office Helper runs
in Excel, it will not run in Word. It always appears unchecked and
when I check it under Options Addins, the value does not stick. I've
tried uninstalling, reinstalling and repairing Office, uninstalling
Window-eyes, deleting my default profile, running the Window-eyes
emergency removal, reinstalling Window-eyes before and after Office.
Needless to say, none of these troubleshooting steps have achieved
the desired result. I have tried different configurations in Word's
trust settings and even found the relevant registry keys for the
Window-eyes office addin. Although the correct registry binary value
for load behavior should be 3, Word always manages to change it to 2
upon relaunch.

Since I've paid for my Office 365 license and have always kept
current with Window-eyes, I'm quite frustrated that Word is rendered
useless to me. It doesn't work at all with Narrator and only slightly
better with NVDA. I suspect corrupt permissions issues are the
culprit, but I've done two fresh operating system reinstallations.

Many thanks,
Orlando Enrique FiolOrlando Enrique Fiol

RE: Window-Eyes 9.5.3 and Word 2016

2016-09-20 Thread Rod Hutton via Talk
Hi Orlando,

A few things I've noted:
1. Although I see an entry for Office Enhance under the Apps menu in the WE
control panel, none of the pull-downs under its entry open any dialogs
2. In the App Manager, with the view option set to global, Office Enhance
does not appear as a running app
3. If I use Alt-O to load the app manually, and type in the letters "off",
auto complete poplulates with an entry called:

OfficeEnhance.vbs.wecrypt.wsf

This is clearly the app which should load for the Office Enhance app, and
yet, if one loads it manually, one gets an error message.

My guesss is that the app is either not running properly, and Window-Eyes or
the app itself has some built-in facility to not load it so that an error is
not generated, or the app has been made redundant by, again, either
Window-Eyes or the app itself.
It remains to ask what precise feature you require that this app is supposed
to provide.

I hope this helps,

Rod

Hi all. I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing the following issue with
the Window-eyes office addin being unable to load in Word 2016. I have an
Office 365 subscription and am running the current builds of Windows 10 and
Window-eyes. Although the Office Helper runs in Excel, it will not run in
Word. It always appears unchecked and when I check it under Options Addins,
the value does not stick. I've tried uninstalling, reinstalling and
repairing Office, uninstalling Window-eyes, deleting my default profile,
running the Window-eyes emergency removal, reinstalling Window-eyes before
and after Office.
Needless to say, none of these troubleshooting steps have achieved the
desired result. I have tried different configurations in Word's trust
settings and even found the relevant registry keys for the Window-eyes
office addin. Although the correct registry binary value for load behavior
should be 3, Word always manages to change it to 2 upon relaunch.

Since I've paid for my Office 365 license and have always kept current with
Window-eyes, I'm quite frustrated that Word is rendered useless to me. It
doesn't work at all with Narrator and only slightly better with NVDA. I
suspect corrupt permissions issues are the culprit, but I've done two fresh
operating system reinstallations.
Many thanks,

Be it that you've tried everything else, just for the heck of it I would
try the following.

1. Uninstall the app.
2. Open your profile folder and make sure there are no leftovers,
including the .ini file.

3. Reboot for good measure or at least unload and reload WE.
4. Download the app to make sure you don't have a corrupted file. Be
sure to unblock the wepm file after downloading.

5. disable any anti-virus and malware protection you run.
6. Install the downloaded app.
7. Take it for a spin and see if it works.
8. Re-enable your anti-virus and malware protection.

Hth,
Tom

Unfortunately, the Office Addin is a DLL file, not an app. Without
it, Window-eyes will not be able to determine the cursor position,
much less track highlighted text. The office addin helper can in fact
be used without any running apps, since it is not an app.

All this would be great advice if an app were at issue. But the
Office helper is a DLL file that is supposed to load with any Office
application. On the rare occasions when I've gotten it to load, it's
been because the autoload registry setting was manually changed
before running Word. Once Word runs for the first instance, it
changes that autoload binary value from 3 to 2 because there's a
runtime error when initializing and loading the Window-eyes addin.
I also note that most times, since the Window-eyes helper addin is
unchecked at Word's startup, checking it does not actually load the
addin, so the document cursor is never determined. Put differently,
even after manually loading or checking the Window-eyes helper addin,
it never actually loads.
Most frustrating of all, the helper addin loads fine in Excel,
Powerpoint, Outlook, etc., just not in Word.
