If you disable Auto Format then no formating is done to one
paragraph in its own. Yo can have the first line only half full with
no Return behind it, but now the next line is not drawn back - as it
 very well should be.

You won't get Ritlabs to alter MicroEd in this respect. MicroEd is loved
for it's - to the newcomer - sometimes peculiar features and changing
this type of behaviour would yield an outcry among many of us.

Instead, why don't you try out TB!'s other editor? At least in this
respect it does behave as you want it to.

I've inquired about this issue years ago but have not even gotten so
much as a reply. (Same as with the other bug reports I submitted over
 the years, BTW.)

You got the new editor added... Jokes aside, I do think you should have
got a reply and I do acknowledge the Windows editor was not added as a direct
outcome of your request, but at least this shows that development of TB!
continues at a rapid rate.

Show Stopper -- Reply with Quotation

2005-05-05 Thread Ethan J. Mings

Overall, this release is much better for me than RC1.

I think this has been reported, however, just in case.

a) Pop addresses for new messages is not grouped.

b) F4 produces an AV when quoting from a message within a message. To
produce, try blocking material from a message in the list digest, hit
F4 nothing happens or it produces an AV account. I've also noticed
this only happens when the account is not my default account. (If it
helps, if I turn off the function key setting, F7 works for my none
default accounts to achieve the correct quoted material in a reply
message function)

Overall, I'm really pleased to see the hard work on the removal of so many
bugs.

I got it only when exiting search via the red X (terminate) button and
not close. Does this tally with your experience?

Hello Thomas,

No, I didn't. ;-) But I didn't use any of the alpha or beta versions
in this cycle, so I don't have any user.def or whatever files on my
HD. The .rar I downloaded only contained thebat.exe and a .dll.

tbuser.def, that may be the reason. I'll play with it when I have some
spare time later or tonight.

Hello Ethan,

 b) F4 produces an AV when quoting from a message within a message. To
produce, try blocking material from a message in the list digest, hit
F4 nothing happens or it produces an AV account. I've also noticed
this only happens when the account is not my default account. (If it
helps, if I turn off the function key setting, F7 works for my none
default accounts to achieve the correct quoted material in a reply
 message function)

Cannot confirm, from any of my accounts.

Turns out I suddenly do have a tbuser.def in my mail directory.

If you made any change to your UI, like remove a toolbar or changed its
position, TB generates a tbuser.def. The possible problem with mine is
that it was created several betas ago.

I can't use rc2

2005-05-05 Thread Gary
Hi ya'll,

This morning, I have given rc2 a good workout with plenty of new mail in my
IMAP INBOX. With this release, I have not experienced any AVs as some of you
have been with this release, when deleting email, and as I had on all
previous recent betas...

However, after reading or deleting several emails, as new mail would come in
to the INBOX, the message list jumps around, changing positions
dramatically, and I cannot read email. The message bodies will not load on
many emails, and this happens often enough that it makes reading email
absolutely impossible. If I cannot read email, I can't use it.

Well, this made the problem worse for me. In looking at my server
logs, it appears as though one or several connections are being
dropped thereby not allowing message views to be loaded. If I execute
a IMAP disconnect and then the connect command, all appears to be well
and views for all folders work. I didn't notice this problem with .18

at all, something is wrong, I think.

View Mode Oddity

2005-05-05 Thread Stuart Hemming
I've got a view mode setup as shown in Clipboard.jpg and it results in
a message list like that shown in Clipboard2.jpg.

With this setup, if I click on a '+' to open a thread in the message
list the message flag is toggled. If I change the order so that the
Parking flag is leftmost then that is toggled when I expand/collapse a
thread.

This happens regardless of how wide the column is for the flag.

According to my e-mail provider, it is possible to add an

Is this operation doable with the bat!

RC2 GUI: please don't miss the GUI!

2005-05-05 Thread Giampaolo Bellavite
Please don't build the final release with big usability lacks. I'm a
little worried about that. I see some little steps forward, please
don't stop now :)

New interface bugs:

   CUSTOMISE WINDOW:

   - now it has a little close X at the left top: why? This is an
inconsistency with other window (preferences, filters, etc).
Only SmartBat has window like this (always wondering why)

   - resizing is ridicolous:
 Examples with resizing:
 http://www.bellavite.com/files/gui1.gif
 http://www.bellavite.com/files/gui2.gif
 http://www.bellavite.com/files/gui3.gif

   - The theme applies on window elements: status bar and buttons:
 http://www.bellavite.com/files/gui5.gif (Eos theme)

Old bugs (see mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED])

  - In the message list, sort arrows in column headers have a wrong
look. mid:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

  - Preferences arrows disappear with the Eos theme:
http://www.bellavite.com/files/gui4.gif

  - Moving the menu toolbar in the search Window, hangs the toolbar
in a wrong position:
http://www.bellavite.com/files/toolbar-1.gif
Step to riproduce this:
   - drag the toolbar out the top initial position
   - attach it to the left instead the top
   - now you cannot attach it at the top of the window. It
attach horizontally only at the top of the no message
 loaded pane

CUSTOMISE toolbar WINDOW:

  - The customise dialog lacks on usability. Where are OK and
Cancel buttons?
Here a suggestion for a better usability:
http://www.bellavite.com/files/customize-ui.gif

  - Dialog buttons reflects the applied skin and not the correct
Windows skin. This is very annoying:
http://www.bellavite.com/files/attach1.gif
This behaviour applies on *all* up/down arrows in input boxes
in the interface:
http://www.bellavite.com/files/tickers.gif
If you use the Default theme in The Bat!, all appears
correct.

  - image size is always disabled

  - quick search in Customise dialog doesn't work

Solved bugs:

 - Reset button WORKS in customise toolbar window

Only if I'm scrolling with the keyboard. Using the scrollbar shows the

But then the bar on the right side displays an empty space before the

ASK It works here. Which OS are you using? I'm using XPP+SP2.

It's working when you've got the auto-preview enabled and it doesn't
work when auto-preview is disabled. To test that:
view - auto preview - uncheck
  go to another message
  specials - create filter
You need to go to another message, it still works when you try it when
you've selected the message you were previewing when disabling the
preview function.
When you don't use auto-preview at all then it will never work.

Has been discussed before.

Virtual folders usability

2005-05-05 Thread George M. Menegakis
Hello ppl,

I don't know if this issue came with latest beta because till today I haven't
tried using Virtual Folders.

The sad point is that, at least as implemented for Bat, the Virtual Folder
concept is pretty useless for large mail base.

Yesterday I imported four big folders from mbx format. First has 24367 mails,
the second 34001, the third 23531 and the fourth 6532.

For each folder I created three virtual sub-folders, 2002, 2003 and 2004. The
results where disappointing.

1. What is the point of Store state between sessions if after reopening Bat
the virtual folders appears empty and I have to select Refresh in order to
see the messages?

2. If option Auto refresh is selected the speed of refresh is
disappointing slow after reopening the bat. Ok, it is expected since The Bat
store is not database like (If I am not mistaken .tbb are flat text files) but
5-10 minutes with CPU use ~ 95% is ludicrous. Compared to the virtual folders
of Outlook or Evolution or Thunderbird Bat is slow as paraplegic snail. Thus
auto update is not an option for large folder.

3. Why, oh Why, bat's waiting to close in order to Store stated between
sessions?. Why it can't use the last stored state but tries to re-generate
the vf? It takes 2-5 minutes to close Bat with CPU utilization over 95%

I am sorry to say but ANY program I know that has virtual folders beats hands
down the bat.
