Before you can copy (crtl-C), you must select all (ctrl-A). So
correctly said, what I think the above should do is ctrl-A followed by
ctrl-C.

Of course ctrl-V is paste. That's what I haven't figured out yet. How
do you paste from the clipboard into the message by macro?

Or do you just use %Clipboard (without parameter) and that will paste

Hello Alexander,

It is no problem either. When you move a folder, let's say folder A, the
filters that move messages to folder Possible_path/A are automatically
changed to move messages to New_Account/Possible_path/A. Then, if in
old account Sorting Office you copy or cut a filter and Paste in in
New Account, the filter will automatically modified to move messages to
Possible_path/A. I know because I have done this just this morning with
about10 filters.

Have a look at the Programs settings in IE (Tools|Internet

and see if you can find any conflicts. I always had problems with TB
being the default handler for .VCF, so I leave this and MSG unticked

I've specified for it to only download x-number of messages on
subscription. Upon my first download, it downloaded only that number.
Perfect. But the next time I checked my mail/the newsgroup, it wants
to download -all- of the messages in all of the groups, not just the
x-number. am I doing something wrong in my setup, or . . . what?

Binaries are not good with MyGate (AFAIK) and some filtering may be
easier with XNews.

My conclusion: I will use MyGate for text groups until Ritlabs makes a
good (also binaries) newsreader for TB.

All,

I now have 5 main POP accounts set up under The Bat! v2.00.6, but I have

folders, filters, and quite templates, and the system is working quite well
for me. I'm wondering something, though. I am a Thawte notary, and I can
generate S/MIME certificates which can contain multiple e-mail addresses. It
would greatly simplify my setup to have only 5 S/MIME signatures instead of
about 35! Does The Bat v2.0 work OK with S/MIME signatures containing

Cost, I should imagine. TB is not a high cost product, and the costs
of providing an upgrade procedure based on this, which would probably
require considerable manual checking, would probably wipe out the
profit. As I noted before, although the current upgrade policy may
not be fair to recent purchasers, it does have the benefit of being

Re[2]: The Bat! v2 Upg Price of $17.50 until October 31, then what?

2003-09-08 Thread Christopher Brown
Hi Alexander,

I use The Bat! since May '99 and for four years we got MAJOR
enhancements for free. If some other company has produced the Bat, the
very same program with the same feature set would be in version 4 or 5
and not 2.00.6. Believe me 1.60 was a major upgrade to 1.50 which was a
major upgrade to 1.40 and so forth.

A If that is so then what, in the name of everything that doesn't suck,
A would've been the problem to say registered before 1.50 release = high
A update fee while registered before 1.60 release = moderate upgrade fee
A and registered after 1.60 release = lower upgrade fee?

The rationale here I think is that it is a smaller jump from 1.6 to 2.0, and therefor
you shouldn't pay as much? But this thinking is the reason that Microsoft NEVER
releases any updates, short of bug fixes. Anything new is squirreled away for a couple
of years, until a new version comes out. The point is that what you suggest would
encourage that. Why bother releasing new features as minor updates if you people are
going to then complain that 2.0 is not much different than 1.6? You are just going to
shoot yourself in the pocketbook. Better to keep 1.0 out forever, release bug fixes as
.01 and .02 revisions, and keep all the new features for 2.0. Then you can charge
everyone 75% of the full price for the upgrade...insert MS business plan here.

I believe it is Microsoft's way of doing business that sucks. Ritlabs, while not
exactly scoring a 10, is doing what they can to make some money, which is difficult.

I do agree that the 2-month cutoff is a bad idea.

2003-09-08 Thread Julien RANC
Bonjour Deborah,

Monday, September 8, 2003, 4:48:13 AM, j'ai pu lire:

DW It's my understanding that it isn't a policy, but rather that inaccurate
DW information was posted on the German website during that period of time,
DW saying that those who registered TB v1. would get v2 free, that
DW Ritlabs are therefore honouring that. Others, who were never promised a
DW free update, are getting the 50% discount, which *is* the policy.

Well, I was told my Stefan himself that the upgrade would be free in
May 2003 after having asked him by email. In spite of the 2 mails I
sent to RITlabs, I still have not received any new reg key nor any
answer. So, I'm back under 1.6x, before the trial expires. Hope they
will honor *that* promise.

btw: Stefan, if you read this email...

Yes, the bot asks for a reason. Even your familiar name would
suffice, Thomas, telling me who is at the door, so to speak. Please
don't be offended. But I guess this is a good illustration of what
somebody promised yesterday.

To explain, I forgot to create a permission for you when I first wrote
to you OL. (The CM bot normally automatically creates a permanent
permission when I send a message to somebody new. SMTP problems at my
new ISP have stopped that -- for now. (Of course that does not help
with those senders who are totally new to me.)

I have now created a permission for you manually, Thomas.

TF I'm not doing that. You
TF want to review your policy for two reasons:

TF 1.) You sent me a message to which I replied. I am offended by
TF your bot's interference to my attempt at helping you.

TF 2.) If you are trying to cut down spam, you will just have confirmed
TF your address to the sender.

Good point. On very, very rare occasions, a spammer actually asks me
for permission! Thomas, aren't there other ways in which spammers can
extrapolate, and determine that an address is likely valid?

TF And if you're in business, you'll never get new customers...

(pause)

TF and even new friends will be difficult to get.

Now, Thomas, that's below the belt! :-0 I'm rather good looking, and
anyway, mother said to be very careful about getting new friends on
the Internet. But I think this list should be a safe place. :-) So
everybody, come over for lunch at my place today. I'm afraid some
dear, old friends will dump me now, per your suggestion. :-)

TF I am kind enough to mention this to you, others will just stop
TFcommunicating.

Seriously, you are kind to take this time to explain this, and alert
me to new issues. This spam-killing is a work in progress.

Broken threads and general threading question

2003-09-08 Thread Jeffrey A. Shumway
Hello TBUDL,

I notice that many of the threads in this group end up broken. This
seems especially obvious when The Bat! is threading based upon
reference (Alt-1). I would have thought that since the bulk of us are
using The Bat!, we would be able to maintain a consistent thread.

Are the treads being broken by other email clients? As I look through
the threads, it seems that many of the broken threads are created by a
users of The Bat!. What is causing the broken threads?

Which method do you find to provide the best, most consistent
threading of message - by reference or by subject?

Just curious,

Jeff

Re: System for archiving

2003-09-08 Thread Adam

So my question is with these duplicates. The method I described I was
saying it could work effectively if TB was convinced to kill the
Unread messages. If it kills Read messages, then I will be left with
two batches of the same Unread messages. If it does cut out the
extraneous chaff, and delete not just *comparable* but *identical*
messages, then it will leave a complete archive. (Unless I'm
mistaken.) How does Kill Dupes work?

Am I right in what I said? Can it be convinced to do this?

One day here to experiment if there's some ideas.

I often wonder why, when people stop using a particular program, they hang
around with support groups for the programs they don't use. I guess they
have a lot of spare time on their hands. I don't much care what anyone else
uses; you've picked the program you feel works best for you. Fine. I've
picked the one that I feels works best for me. You're right. I'm right.

Easy as that.

Your email provider. I see yours has the TLD .cc. That's the price you
pay. I was on my secondary account @myrealbox for a while, and threads
