Hello Robin Anson everyone else,

on 12-Mai-2006 at 02:39 you (Robin Anson) wrote:

This means I have to set up Outlook to use a local PST file for
 everything, including email.

This needs clarification. If your client(s) is/are using Outlook with
Exchange server, your mails are on the Exchange server (if you look in
Outlook, it will be called Post Box - Robin Anson or something).

You can set up additional Personal Storage file(s) and configure Outlook
that new message will be put there. But AFAIK, the mails are still on
the Exchange server as well.

If you have a setup like this, you'll have at least two roots in the
left hand explorer-like bar in Outlook: Post box - Robin Anson and
Personal Storage.

If you're downloading mails to TB, you're not pulling them from the PST
(no way). You're downloading the mails from the Exchange server via MAPI
to TB. The PST file is already a local copy, just like your TB folders
if you download mails from the server (via MAPI or POP3).

What Leif is referring to is the way Outlook connects to the Exchange
server. It may use RPC-over-HTTPS, lets call it MAPI in a HTTPS
tunnel, a special method normally used for remote connections to the
server. There's no way TB can do that.

TH in setting mailbox filters is so TB does not see these as junk mail. Any
TH preset mailbox filter should override any other filter in TB.

I have to disagree on that. It regularly happens to me that I'm
receiving spam via non-moderated mailing lists. I like it very much
for those messages, that they're not processed by the matching mailing
list, but that they're excluded before that filter catches on.

Same goes for virus messages. I don't care who's name is in the from
header, I want that message in my quarantine folder and not somewhere
else.

TH Maybe the developers could look at this for future builds.

There is a solution for your problem. So don't use an anti-spam
plug-in, but you have to use an anti-spam proxy. Pick one that has the
ability to include an extra header in stead of mangling the subject
header. Now you can create a filter that checks against that header,
but as it is a normal filter, you can set its precedence by its
location in your order of filters.

Furthermore I think that when you're encountering lots of false
positives (I've had that only once with a properly trained filter)
that you need to train your filter when you encounter them. Even now
that it's almost a year ago that I got a false positive I check my
spam folder daily (or at least once every two days.)

Control of stored messages in 3.80.03

2006-05-12 Thread Dave Goodman

A month ago I installed 3.80.03 over my previous 3.71.03. Today I needed
to change the length of time stored messages are kept in a specific
folder. Going to folder-properties-general I found the expected check
boxes for controlling maximum of age and number stored messages, but on
each of these lines there is only the check box, no window into which to
enter a numerical value.

The 'repair' option under the TB! installer has been no help. Any
comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

How to move folder from one account to another

Hi TBUDL,

I am closing out an account in which I have a number of folders. I'd

Is it possible to do what I want to do? If so, how?

Also while I'm writing, can someone please supply a link at Ritlabs

I see
move in move out
Move up move down

So, isn't it possible to move it out then place below the desired new
account by either move-up or move-down. Then do a move-in and Voilla,
there it is.

I just tested this on a single account.

Now, that said. it's slow and tedious. I used to change the name of
the old folder, using Windows Explorer, to what the new account name
is and it showed up in TB! correctly.

However, I tried that last week with this 3.80 version and got
the system so screwed up I had to revert to a previous edition as well
as do a system restore. I am therefore reluctant to try that again. It
was, though, infinitely more efficient than the only apparent method
TB! will tolerate.

RD So, isn't it possible to move it out then place below the desired

Not here, unless I am doing something wrong somehow. Moving the
folder out does nothing since it isn't a sub folder of another
folder but rather a first level folder of an account. And even after
having executed that function, the folder can't be moved into another
  account.

RD I just tested this on a single account.

And you could move the folder into a different account? If so, my
installation and yours are functioning differently or I am doing
  something different than you are.

Remember I am trying to move a folder from one account to another, so
you would need to have two accounts to run a test (though perhaps you
meant you tested it on a single folder rather than on a single
  account).

The key combination is Ctrl-Shift-Left Arrow to move the folder out,
and as I said above that doesn't permit me to move it into the new
  account.

RD Now, that said. it's slow and tedious.

Yes, but I could tolerate that if it works. It is a one-time event.

However, it would be much easier and more intuitive if one could
simply cut a folder from one account and paste it into another. But,
alas, that doesn't seem to be an option.

agreed. However. In my case (the test case) I have a folder called
Sheep, inside and account, which I will call Lists. Lists has it's own

I also have, among many others, an account to handle my GMail stuff
and its own settings.

With that in mind, I right click the Sheep folder inside Lists and
select 'Move Out'.

Sheep folder appears out at the hierarchical level of Account Lists
and GMail now.

Next I right-click and select 'Move Down'.

Sheep Folder is now underneath GMail account AND pictured above
Account GMX.

Then I right-click Sheep Folder and select 'Move Up'.

Voilla!! Sheep Folder is now a constituent of the GMail Account.

QED

Note now to MAU and you, I can not Alt anything and get it to drag.
I can not perform any combinations of Ctrl or Alt or others while
trying to drag any folder. The folder gets highlighted and that's as
far as she goes. No drag. No movement. No International Sign for the

But I can re-locate folders the slow way as described above.

An unfortunately, for some odd reason, we agree you cannot.

It is at this point that my system behaves differently than yours. The
folders here do not go out to the account level, and hence I can't
move them down into a new account. Why remains a mystery.

RD Note now to MAU and you, I can not Alt anything and get it to drag.

I *can* drag folders around using MAU's strategy within the account
but not from one account to another.

RD An unfortunately, for some odd reason, we agree you cannot.

As I said in my message to Miguel, I'll just have to recreate the
folder structure within the Gmail account to which I wanted to move
them. That will take some time, and it will entail almost completely
re-creating my filters which will take even more time, but I can do it
since it appears that is the only way to get it set up the way I want
  it.

Ever optimistic, I've downloaded 3.80.06, and I'll keep my fingers
crossed that installing it will cause my installation to behave like
  yours.

Thanks for your attempt to help, Robert.

You need to use:

At least that is what their plugin exports!!

... I will pass along this *other* method I'd been using until about
this release. But know this, I tried it in this release the other day
and totally got TB! so messed up I had to sys-restore and then TB!
still wouldn't work, in this version. So I revived one version from
Christmas time and that worked fine ... then after several hours,
oddly enough, I could, again, use THIS version ... go figure ...

So, that said, I use Win Explorer and look in TB's MAIL directory on
the drive. I see the Folder with the current sub-folders reflecting
the different filtered-places that get filled as I check the email
FROM that account. And that's the one I want to port to another new
account.

I rename that main folder, that lies directly underneath MAIL, to the
new name of the new account.

Then I go into TB! and create that new account answering all the
questions. But I see that they are already filled in because they
sucked up data from the heretofore renamed olde account ... and when
it's finished, there's the newly named/created TB! account with all
the old folders from the other account.

I just tried THAT and it worked here! Go figure. How I got myself in
trouble last week I do not know. But I *think* I renamed a TB! account
to the olde folder's name ... anyway, give that a try

I'll have to ponder this one for a while to make sure I understand
what I am about to do before I try it. For the record, are you using
OTFE as I am? And do you think that will matter?

Thanks, Peter. Since I'm already subscribed there, I have set it as a
  watched thread.

For the record, installing 3.80.06 did NOT change the behavior I am
seeing. I still can't move a folder from one account to another.

Do you (or anyone) suppose the fact that I'm using OTFE has any
bearing on the non-typical behavior of my installation?

I'd be more confident that it is a BT issue IF your #1 solution worked
  here, but it does not.

Shift-Ctrl-Left arrow does NOT move an individual folder to the
account level in the tree, and therefore it will not permit me to
cross account boundaries to deposit the folder into a different
  account.

PO 1. Using Shift+Ctrl+arrow keys won't move a folder (-tree) to the

PO 2. Using Alt+LMB shows no change in behaviour.

PO I guess now it's time to open a BT issue.

Okay, I have opened a BT report. Here's the URL ...

It might help if you'd confirmed the fact that you have been able to

Thanks so much for your help.
