Re: Changing from POP to Imap

2018-10-21 Thread Feli Wilcke
Hello Tom,

it is no problem to have a POP and an IMAP account for the same address.
The way to migrate your emails from POP to IMAP is as follows:
- create the IMAP account
- move or copy the emails you want to keep to the new account
- delete the old account or keep it, no problem.
I have several addresses with POP and IMAP and they are all working.

https://webmail.xdomainx.net/ews/exchange.asmx is the server I had to
define when I set up my exchange account two weeks ago . It worked
some month ago but (as you can read n the beta-list) in november I had
to remove this account from TB because of constant crashes. The
account was set to get new mail every 60 min and I could not change
this fast enough. Actually I use a new EWS.dll Maxim sent me and this
behaviour persists. (But in defining the account newly I could set it
to prevent check at start-up)

When I first defined the exchange account in summer, TB was able to
find the exchange server itself, although the TLD is different from
the TLD of my address (.de <-> .net). Perhaps that is due to a server
config.

> I also saw that there are two options when setting up an Exchange

I used EWS because MAPI doesn't work for me.

Never a this problem, I'm always using the latest beta.
I have a web.de IMAP-account with STARTTLS on port 587 and SMTP-auth

You have to have TB run all the time, when you switch off your

generates an automatic reply or new message. You find that option as

you can restrict the filter to work only for some of your mail

addresses (you then have to list all list addresses)

LB I would not want to burden

You can create a common filter that is valid for all your accounts and

AS something with the message header generated by TB!.

Do you have this problem with all mails or only with HTML-mails?

Any time I forward a HTML-mail in HTML-Format to my company mail
address, this mail is tagged as Spam. This does not happen when I
forward as plain text with HTML attachment. The reason in my case is,
that my company uses a 2 years old version of SpamAssassin (v 2.64)
and SpamAssasin thinks that TB is not able to send HTML mails.

Perhaps your problem has a similar cause.

What account's mail options for sending mail do common folders use?

Obviously the mailsettings from the first account...

no, the one where the tick 'This account is the default for mailto:;
URLs' is set

Can this be changed? I did not find a setting...

it's on the first page of account properties. To change it, you can
also use the %account= macro in the reply templates.

Ah, I guess I have once more to use folder templates... ;)

what about a quick template? :-) You only have to create it once and can leave the
folder templates as they are. It's far more flexible if you use
different accounts :-)

I do not like typing a word and then hit ctrl + space. ;)

that's your personal preference and therefor cannot be subject to
discussion :-)

I have many mailinglist folders which send mails over different
smtp-servers and I normally do not which server relays what
 mailinglist mail.

now we are back to the point why it is comfortable to use address book
groups and templates instead of folder templates LOL

I guess I have just to dump the common folders idea and use virtual
 ones instead.

not necessarily ;-)

Do I have to recreate the identity with macros, too?

This is the relevant part of my template:

%FROM=%FROM=Feli Wilcke [EMAIL PROTECTED]%-
%account=[EMAIL PROTECTED]%-

You see, I use both. IIRC the value for REPLY-TO is taken from FROM if
not defined otherwise.

when you do not have accented characters in your mail, TB will use
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii and
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit because your mail can be displayed
with these settings. If you use accented characters like é or â TB will
use the character set you defined in your settings.

I like Bitstream Vera Sans. It is not a fixed width font, but it is
very nice and has anti-aliasing enabled - giving very smooth text.

Bitstream Vera Sans is a free font included in many Linux
distributions.

look here: http://tinyurl.com/4yheo

there is also a fixed width version of Vera Sans that can easily be
installed in the windows font dir.

Yes, that's where the message waits for reading/deleting or
 reading/replying.

Just wondering: Aren't you always in the right folder? ;)

No, it happens very often that I open a message for replying, then
minimize it for replying later, change folders to read other messages
and then reply to the first message. Then I'm usually in another folder
than the one the message belongs to. But I have no problems with that
because I have no folder templates ;-)

no, that's not what i meant. the left-most window (in
default-settings) with all your accounts and folders has three columns
Folders, New and Total. And i don't want to see the latter
 two...

draw the Folders with the mouse as wide as your window and the two
left columns will vanish.

There is a lot of hardware that is explicitly build for Windows (I had
