Cancel red alert - It was something in windows. I re-booted the computer and
everything is back to normal now.

Most of the time Windows behaves but you get so used to it behaving that when a
problem crops up, Windows is not the first thing you think of.

Thanks for the help Lore.

"ok" will that generate the template for the account that is highlighted on the
left side of the window? Do I need to do anything else? What about the
reply shortcut? Does anything get changed in that box?

I use a reply template which contains the following for mailing lists
that don't set the Reply-To header:

%SETPATTREGEXP=":\s*(([^@]+)@[^>]+)"%-
%RegExpBlindMatch="%OHEADER(List-Post)"%-
%TO=""%TO='"%ofromname on %-
[%SUBPATT="2"]" %-
<%SUBPATT="1">'%-

This will populate the To address with sender's name and mailing list
name, and the address from the List-Post header in the message.

Changing default reply for reply button on toolbar

2015-03-17 Thread Achdut18
I subscribe to a number of different e-mail lists and will occasionally reply
to posts on these various lists. For some lists, for any given incoming
message, the "Reply to" field is populated with the e-mail address of the
post's author, while the "to" field is populated with the list address. For
other lists, such as TBUDL, both the "to" field as well as the "reply to" field
have the list address. When I hit the reply button for posts in the first
group, the "to" field of the outgoing message will go directly to the author of
the post to which I am replying. However, for any given incoming message in
the second group, if I hit the "reply" button on the toolbar, the "to" field of
the outgoing post is populated with the e-mail address of the list. However,
a casual glance at the "to" field of the outgoing message doesn't always alert
me to the fact that a message intended as private might be going to the entire
list. This is because the text in the "To" field will read some
 thing like this:

"John A. Doe"

What is inside the carets is what the e-mail client sees and responds to, not
what is inside the quotation marks. If I was careful, I would always look
closely at the "to" field of the outgoing message and make sure that the
message is being sent to John Doe and not to the list, if I want a message to
be private. However, I am sometimes distracted and fail to catch this. As a
result, messages that are intended for only one set of eyes might be read by
600 people and it can be embarrassing. The way to solve this would be to
reset the reply button on the toolbar so that the default reply is to what
appears in the "From" field of the incoming message for which I am sending a
reply.

Is this possible? Can I reset the default for that reply button so that it
populates the "to" field of the outgoing message with the text that appears in
the "from" field of the message to which I am replying? If so, can you provide
step-by-step instructions that explain how to do this?

Thanks for any advice you might be able to provide.

Customize toolbar with manual filter rules...

2009-03-24 Thread Stephane Bouvard (ML)
Hi,

I've created a few manual rules that i use with shortcut to execute some
actions...

Example : i've a rule for "spams" : the message must be marked as read and
moved to a "spam" folder (Imap folder handled by the server for bayesian
analysis).

It's really much faster to just use the shortcut (CTRL ALT S) than right-click,
"move the message to the folder..." and then select the right folder in the
whole big list of folders...

What i would like now, is to add this kind of rule on a shortcut bar, like the
original "Mark as Junk" button...

Is it possible ?

Thanks in advance for any tips :)

I applied the change globally. Standard toobar was using normal toolbar icons
and not menu icons. So its not like it reverted to my previous setting to a
specific toolbar. That is why I called it minor bug. If I apply a change
globally and something gets altered by it, undoing the change globally should
undo that too. Just my 2 cents. As long as it got solved I am happy.

The "Use menu icons for all toolbars" in the Options tab is a 'global'
setting that affects _all_ toolbars. But you can also select 'menu
icons' on a toolbar by toolbar basis.

Select 'Menu & Toolbars' tab. In the 'Containers' pane on the left
select 'Standard' and then look at the bottom right corner, below the
Layout, and see what is the setting selected in the drop-down list (the
two options are 'Toolbar icons' and 'Menu icons').

Aha! You have the answer.

Why is this so confusing (Shift+insert)? If there is this type of
flexibility, there should be documentation.

Thanks for your comments. I'm going to save your e-mail for the time that I
forget how to do it.

If I understand what you want, do this:

- Click 'Create new Toolbar' button, not _container_, give it a name and,
when you OK, it will appear in the left window as a new container under
Main Form.
- Select the new toolbar. In Actions, select the one you want to be the
default for the button and insert it into the Layout window which should
still be blank. You can also select now the icon for the button.
- Select this first (default) action in layout and in Actions window
select and shift+insert the action you want to be the first in your
drop down list.
- You can now add (insert) more actions in the drop down list. If in
Layout you select one of the second level (drop down) actions you can
now just insert (without shift) a new action below it. You only need to
shift+insert if the top level (default) action is selected.

Interesting. I must have missed this. This feature still doesn't give me

That is a functionality well hidden in TB's deep muddy waters...

1. In the "Customize" dialog choose "Create new container" (it's the 4th
button from the top between "actions" and "layout" list). A new
toolbar container (with a triangle on the right) is created. Select
   it.

Maybe you can solve this problem with address group templates. You simply
assign your contacts to the address book group and only set a single
template for the group.

Take a look at the %QINCLUDE macro. I /think/ that would be the easiest

Under the "New Mail", "Reply" and "Forward" tabs in the address book
entry, there is a little check box that says "use a specific template for
new messages".
If you check it you can use the macros you want, such as
%ACCOUNT="ThisAccount" or %ACCOUNT="ThatAccount"

It takes some tinkering to get macros working the way one wants them to,
but it's not difficult

Yes.

Real TB! users hide toolbars. They use keyboard shortcuts instead.

I think you must have misunderstood my question. I wasn't asking about
the folder column settings, I asked about the *toolbars*. Thanks for

Thank you, Sir!!! This did the trick. I've saved these steps away as a

"drag the toolbar". I did take a look into the tbTools sub-key folder

What you did was to click on the far left of the toolbar and then drag
it out of the window. To re-dock it, when the toolbar is floating,
click and hold on the title bar. The border will become darker. Then
move the tool bar until it is under the menu. The border will become
thin. Release your mouse button. Tada! The toolbar is back.

The first time I open a message, there is NO toolbar displayed within
the message or by itself separately. Not until I take the selection
steps of View, then Toolbar, does a toolbar show up, but it is
displayed as a completely SEPARATE toolbar window. Close the message
and the separate toolbar window goes away.

When the same message or another message is then reopened, again,
after taking the steps of View -> Toolbar, a completely SEPARATE
toolbar window is displayed along with and above the message itself;
however, what I had before was the "toolbar" actually displayed WITHIN

2004-02-16 Thread Dirigo
Hey tbud'ers!

I inadvertently "set" some settings which removed the "toolbar" from
within each message when the message is displayed/ I would like to
restore this functionality. I know about selecting View and then
Toolbar and having a Toolbar pop up which can be used while reading an
email, but I prefer the toolbar embedded in each email I read.

I searched the Help portion and really didn't see anything that
addressed this issue. I also checked the Edit shortcuts and again saw
nothing that jumped out and grabbed me with the solution. So ... if
someone would be kind enough to give me a hint, I'd appreciate it. I
did not search the archive of messages as, truthfully, after searching
the Help index, etc, I'm not sure what the heck to use as a search
argument. It seems so simple, but ... evidently not for me at this
late hour.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, absolutely! I would love to see the quick search toolbar in the main

Regarding an upgraded quicksearch toolbar, what I'd most like to see is a

What about a toolbar on the message list window, that gives the

Also the general toolbar that exists ATM should be configurable - I

I used 40tude Dialog a while ago for newsgroups and it has a great

above the level of the menu names. This used to be the norm in earlier Windows

Version 2.0 have not this feature, but this is planned for Christmas

For that particular problem, I doubt any will work since AFAIK, it
 isn't documented.

If you drag the toolbar to the edges of the screen and to where it
was before, the little frame that represents the bar will suddenly
become narrow in places where it may be dropped and integrated in
the window. The toolbar will dock at all edges of the window.

It's difficult to say since the search and index searches are like
 any other.

Heh! I just solved the problem! After having tried repeatedly to just
pull the menu back up to the top and 'drop' it on place, and having it
just lay on top of the 'Message, Edit, search, etc.' bar, I finally
found the 'sweet spot', and it dropped back in place.

The 'sweet spot' must be pretty small, because I had been tinkering
with trying to get it back in place for about an hour, but finally got
lucky.

Still, I have one question... If I still wanted to learn about this on
my own... what would be the correct keywords for a search? I am really
trying to grasp the logic of TB's 'Help" and on-line FAQ keywords...
there have been several times where I wanted to learn about something,
but no matter which keyword I tried, I was unable to located the
information I was trying to locate.

I much prefer mastering the skill of finding things on my own, to
having to pester people for an answer... especially when I am pretty
sure that the answer is in the documentation somewhere.

thanks,

Did you try just dragging it back to the top? I mean next to all those icons and the

Detached Main Toolbar... how to reattach??

2003-03-21 Thread Robert C Wittig

I must have hit a weird key combination while typing a command, and my
Main ToolBar detached from the top of the screen, and is now a
floating toolbar.

I searched 'Help' and the on-line FAQ, but haven't been able to guess
at the right keyword, to get the solution to this small and somewhat
amusing problem.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You *can't* resize them, but you *can* redesign them.
Here is a tutorial on how to do this:

and here are some glyphs that I have collected:
