Your wiki sure is esoteric! it looks like a tw version of a magic scroll.

However, what is the content and topic pages you list in the first pic? is
it like TOC tiddelers and conent tiddlers? and how do you seperate those?

[tw5] Re: My Bulk upgrade Tiddlywiki single file wikis work flow (A Method to use)

2019-09-10 Thread TonyM
A Gloom,

I would experiment to be sure. Of course it depends on the content but I
expect the 2nd to win. The merged wiki will be upgraded unless you have
edited system tiddlers that overwrite the shadow tiddlers. Similar can be
achieved with multiple imports.

A way to filter for only those shadow tiddlers that have been
changed/replaced from the system defaultTry "[is[shadow]]" in the advanced
search "filter" tab. It might be slightly counterintuitive: there is an
implicit "[all[tiddlers]]" at the start of each filter run, so filtering
down to those tiddlers that are also shadow tiddlers gives us those "real"
tiddlers that overwrite a shadow tiddler.

My key advice is to avoid it or you will inadvertently merge more than one
wiki and save over an unmerged wiki. If you find a way to make use of this
go ahead.

Regards
Tony

2019-09-10 Thread Alan Aldrich
Thank you Diego,

You refreshed my memory on why I haven't fixed this yet. The
tm-delete-tiddler message works great on the body template button (for
deleting individual records) but it doesn't work as well in the header
template button (for deleting all visible records) because it doesn't allow
a filter as its input like the ActionDeleteTiddlerWidget does, at least not
that I know of. I could create a Modal that pops up and asks for a
confirmation for the header button. Do you know of another way?

Tony,

The layout utilizes the elements. Here is the tiddler
that controls that: $:/plugins/aaldrich/tables/view.
I may not understand your suggestion fully, but printing a table (one that
is long enough to span multiple sheets) should produce the expected
results. That is, the header and footer repeat on each page and rows are
not cut off. I have tested this in Firefox and Chrome. Are you seeing
something different? What browser are you using?

[tw5] Find current tiddle title with a javascript macro -or- regex transform {{!!title}}

2019-09-10 Thread Leon Gomez
Hello,
I'm trying to find a way to get the current {{!!title}} into an
alphanumeric + underscores format variable, so for example "Topic: Foo Bar"
would be converted to "topic_foo_bar"

The following works to convert text as wanted:

/*\
title: JavaC1
type: application/javascript
module-type: macro
\*/
(function(){

/*jslint node: true, browser: true */
/*global $tw: false */
"use strict";

exports.name = "JavaC1";

exports.params = [
{ name: "myText" }
];

/*
Run the macro
*/
exports.run = function(myText) {
if( !myText) myText = "all spaces to underscores";
var myAlphanum = myText.replace(/[^A-Z0-9]+/ig, "_");
var output ="1: [" + myText + "] 2: [" + myAlphanum+ "]";
return output;
};

})();
Calling:
<>
<>

but I can't find how to make it automatically retrieve {{!!title}} as with
normal tiddlywiki macros.

Alternatively, is there any other method to transform/user regex inside
regular macros, or easily acquire the title on that format? Thanks

Alan,

Since your solution is quite exhaustive I am yet to discover its details.

I note you have addressed screen pagination very well.

I Just wanted to point out that if displaying a single table (without
screen pagination) we can open the tiddler in a new window and print it
(often to PDF) it would be great (with print pagination). I have learned of
later this is fairly trivial for table only by including
`` tags in the html table layout. Avoiding a break in

Please consider this as an enhancement. This would make tiddlywiki a
powerful way to publish tabulated data.

Nice work and code pattern. I would like to use it on top of a large
complex wiki where the tiddlers that are members of a "notebook" could be
selected with an alternate filter. If we could define each note book by a
filter rather than simply tags this could be retrofitted to other wikis.
For example open project names tiddlers not closed or canceled.

Just food for thought.

[tw5] Re: Dates, moment.js and Gantt charts via vis.js timeline

2019-09-10 Thread TonyM
Ste,

Welcome back, Its being a little quiet recently with the northern
hemisphere on holiday. But still lost of progress in the tiddlyverse.

Here is a quick brain dump, but dates can get complex so continue asking
questions. I have done a lot with dates and have some nice code patterns up
my sleeve. There are a lot of changes in 5.1.20 that will help with dates I
have not yet made use of. But the implementation you are using has date
manipulation features.

Q1 Link broken
I did in the past, it was quite good

Q2 date ranges
When possible I suggest storing enough only, the start date of each
fortnight can be used to get its end date. In fact I would look at using
week numbers rather than date ranges and the day of week can help you
extract beginning of week. The days operator can be used to get + 7 days,
just change the fieldname it applies to. Where ever possible there is value
calculating the dates as needed rather hard coding them. Of course the
timeline plugin demands the dates to be set but can you make the result be
calculated on the fly?

Q3 Try a date of 0MM0DD only in your date field and see how that
responds
The fact is that using a time on 00:00 or 23:59/24:00 makes sense when date
fields include time and you want to select whole days. But experience shows
in many cases simply leaving the time off the end results in the desired
result.

Q4 Where is this happening? Do you mean the subtitle?

Q5 Did someone do a nice date drop down selector thing once?
Picaday plugin http://kixam.github.io/TW5-datePicker/

Keep the conversation going

Tony

Thank you both, they work well

Fiddling around a bit this worked for me as well. It pops images under the

2019-09-10 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki

I'm not sure if this is what you really want. Your original used the count
widget to get the count. But you
already know that anything that shows up will have a count of zero.

<$list filter="[tag[group]!title[groupTemplate]sort[title]]"
variable="mytitle">
<$list filter="[tagcount[]regexp[^0$]]" variable="nul">

Hello,

I'm using markor to edit both my .tid, .md and .md.meta files and find it
pretty good.
* Go to "settings > general > always open with this app"
* Add your extensions : .tid, .meta, .info ...

Not understanding problems described here since I never had problems with .md
using node version with markdown plugin. May be giving us more context could
help.

Cheers

Re: [tw5] TiddlyWiki .md Files

2019-09-10 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Just to be clear, you're using some form of node.js, right?

Be sure to have the markdown *parser* plugin installed. Not sure if the
code mirror plugins have any bearing.

When I tried this, it generated a .md file as advertised, with a separate
file for the meta info.

I'm interested in reading md files on a tablet also. What app do you
recommend?

Thanks!

2019-09-10 Thread Andrew Lister
In case anyone wants to know why I'm trying to do this: the .tid files
aren't readable as text by most text editors on my tablet. If they were .md
files they would be. But maybe someone has another suggestion for how to
solve this problem.

What do you mean with "where"? Just put it between the subtitles and the
colored buttons, or perhaps below the buttons. I must assume that is where
most people would expect to see any such text, if there is text.

My mistake. Turns out I had not selected it and so I thought the
(mistakenly) showing "#Test tag" was a default tag.

This makes me realize the markings of the active notebook could be clearer;
Instead of the blue frame I'd suggest that the active notebook has the
(current) white background but all inactive notebooks have a greyed out
background e.g #f4f4f4 or #f8f8f8

Re: [tw5] TiddlyWiki .md Files

2019-09-10 Thread Andrew Lister
Hi Jeremy,

I'm not understanding how to get TW to save tiddlers "as a .md file with
the text along with a .md.meta file to contain the metadata." I used the
control panel to install the markdown plugin, and have got that working.
But the tiddlers are still being saved as .tid files. It sounds like I'm
supposed to do something to the tiddlywiki.info file directly, but I'm not
sure what. Or do I have to install other "CodeMirror" plugins? There seem
to be a bunch of those.

Thanks in advance for any further help.

Hey all,

I've got the following list:

<$list filter="[tag[group]!title[groupTemplate]sort[title]]">

How do I adjust that to filter and show only the items that have a count of

Re: [tw5] Sample (random) filter operation

2019-09-10 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
That's all based on Tobias' random filter. Looking at the code, it appears
nearly identical Devin's. I suppose there's only so many
ways to wrap that functionality.

I guess one slight improvement would be to pass in context that would
prevent the number from changing every time the tiddler was refreshed.
Perhaps use the suffix (as if a field) to indicate "this usage here.". So
it would be locked in until the browser reloaded.

Note that all random implementations are pseudo random. Supposedly browsers
now have an api, window.crypto.getRandomValues, that
produces better random values. I don't know how they can do that -- it's
like pulling a rabbit out of thin air. The randomness thing only
matters if you're doing things like encrypting critical data, pulling
numbers for a lottery or doing a research study.

Re: [tw5] In the making of a "NoteBooks" plugin ...

2019-09-10 Thread Mohammad Rahmani
Great job BTC,
 As you know we had saved stories from Tobias Beer where you could open and
close a set of tiddlers!

Yours is a much more flexible solution and it can also be used to create
trails for tutorials and manuals and like that!

Be able to add colors, icons, descriptions is great!

The open button is confusing because when a notebook is opened still you
see the open button there! May be you need to change it to close or hide it

Best wishes
Mohammad

[tw5] Re: In the making of a "NoteBooks" plugin ...

2019-09-10 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Ciao BTC

... and I'm hoping for some ideas

One thing that interests me about "Intelligent Notebooks" is not so much
about their creation, but rather "intelligent macros" ... by which I mean
... say you wanted to make a footnote entry. You create a macro in edit...

... But my idea is that that macro is then "surface level" (the footnote
macro/link can be clicked) in view mode such that you can edit it (in
perhaps a pop-up) without leaving view mode for the main text.

Hope this is clear!

Just one idea.

Re: [tw5] [TW5] Introducing TiddlyTables a plugin for creating sortable tables.

2019-09-10 Thread Mohammad Rahmani
Hi again Alan,

Congratulation! It is really amazing to hear you have done all of these in
Pure Tiddlywiki Script!
Almost all of the work on sortable table use some kind of JS!

I recommend to stay with pure TW. I am a fan of pure TW script and I
believe TW should let users to implement what they want in pure TW!
If more feature is required using coding in JS, I believe TW core
developers should add to core!

Working with core features for development will guarantee your plugin
always work.

Tiddlytable has a lot for me to learn and I would ask if possible to
publish the code and doc on GitHub and lets people fork it!
Documentation is always a tough part of such project! Normally developers
like to put their time on development not preparing documentation :-)

Regarding performance (using JS versus TW script) Jeremy may have comments
on this, but I used Tiddlytable with Tiddler commander to create hundreds
of tiddlers and use with Tiddlytable. It is reasonably fast!

Best wishes
Mohammad

Hi Watt,

Nice one, I like the simplicity and it's quite mobile friendly.

thanks!

Here's some feedback;
> The dash circle/icon and green open button do seem like duplicate
> functions.
>

Yeah it's a duplicate, I'm about to decide what to do with those two

Two buttons would be good for me;
> 1. a new sub-notebook button as you have it, but at the bottom. (easier
> access on a mobile phone)
>

I'm mainly on the desktop where this fits better ... I could make it
configurable

2. another button on each notebook to add a tiddler to it (new-here-ish).
>

The new-tiddler button already adds the tiddler to the open notebook by
auto-tagging

> 3. Big bright buttons are good on a mobile. Drag and drop doesn't work.

There's a drag-and-drop shim/plugin in the plugin library... with that
installed drag and drop could (should?) work

4. Displaying the notebook date isn't needed for me.

There's space for some information, maybe something else fits better

Because how it works it has to be somewhere outside the story river, that
makes it a bit clumsy on mobile use, that's true

Re: [tw5] Sample (random) filter operation

One question,
How about the performance effects? It seems when a tiddler uses this filter
every change on the screen trigger the simple filter!

[tw5] Re: In the making of a "NoteBooks" plugin ...

2019-09-10 Thread Watt
Nice one, I like the simplicity and it's quite mobile friendly.

Here's some feedback;
The dash circle/icon and green open button do seem like duplicate functions.

Two buttons would be good for me;
1. a new sub-notebook button as you have it, but at the bottom. (easier access
on a mobile phone)
2. another button on each notebook to add a tiddler to it (new-here-ish).
3. Big bright buttons are good on a mobile. Drag and drop doesn't work.
4. Displaying the notebook date isn't needed for me.

Other ideas;
*An export notebook button (eg export all a subnotebook tids as json, maybe
import too)
*Merge notebooks option
*A one click way to close all tids and return to the notebook manager would be
useful.

Putting it in the sidebar doesn't work so well on a mobile for me, imo it would
be better placed as a startup tiddler.
Mobile phone use vs desktop though - for me the phone is a more likely use,
others might disagree.

Nice idea, thanks for sharing!

Re: [tw5] [TW5] Introducing TiddlyTables a plugin for creating sortable tables.

2019-09-10 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Alan

Congratulations, TiddlyTables is a terrific piece of work, and very impressive
that it was implemented purely in wikitext. It looks great, with a clear visual
design to convey the hierarchy, and seems very efficient to work with.

It’s also great to see this kind of thing from a newcomer to the community. We
worry a lot about the quality of our documentation and so it’s kind of
reassuring to get confirmation that TiddlyWiki 5 is learnable!

Best wishes

Jeremy

[tw5] Announcing the release of TiddlyWiki v5.1.21

2019-09-10 Thread Jeremy Ruston
I’m delighted to announce the release of TiddlyWiki v5.1.21. This is a bug fix
release that fixes a number of issues introduced in v5.1.20.

https://tiddlywiki.com/

The fixed issues are:
Fixed crash with ActionDeleteFieldWidget and a missing tiddler attribute
Fixed edge cases where some tiddler lists were not valid when interpreted as a
filter
Fixed problem with too many alerts when upgrading a wiki containing an
overwritten core module
Reverted inadvertently switching on performance instrumentation
Fixed bug with WikiText within field names
Fixed problem with classes in the Table-of-Contents Macros
Fixed missing foreground colour for buttons with class tc-btn-invisible
Fixed whitespace around field editor inputs
Fixed layout problems with the translators edition
Fixed crash with the External Attachments Plugin on Windows
Removed inconsistent shadow for tag pills in the sidebar
Fixed regression with the field Operator and blank operands
Reverted erroneous change in v5.1.20 in the way that lists are stringified
Fixed the Open sidebar tab to use the tv-story-list variable
Fixed problem saving to GitLab
Fixed bug with customised tiddler file naming
You can upgrade your existing single file wikis at:
https://tiddlywiki.com/upgrade.html

As usual, please exercise caution when working with an upgrade, and take care
to take plenty of backups. Comments and questions welcome.

I’d like to offer my sincere thanks to the many people who contributed to this
release.

Best wishes

Jeremy

[tw5] Competition for v5.1.22 artwork

2019-09-10 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Now that v5.1.21 is out it’s time to open the competition for the new release
banner artwork for v5.1.22. (See
https://groups.google.com/d/msg/tiddlywiki/l47ZZzWdDb8/6s0p_3QeCgAJ for the
previous competition).

The rules for the competition are:

* The version number (with the correct punctuation) must be clear and readable,
otherwise I’m open to any media and style
* The image must be a PNG, JPEG or SVG of exactly 560x315 pixels
* The bottom 46 pixels will be obscured by the banner text “What’s new in
5.1.22”
* Feel free to enter an updated version of artwork entered in a previous
competition
* Reply to this message with your entry, or any questions

Good luck to everyone. In about 10 days I’ll set up an online voting form as
before.

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Re: [tw5] [TW5] Introducing TiddlyTables a plugin for creating sortable tables.

2019-09-10 Thread Alan Aldrich
Great question Mohammad! It was built using only TW code, no JS. Certain
features would have been easier to build using js code (like pagination) but
this project was primarily a learning experience for me to learn the TW syntax
and see how far I could take it. By the way, this plugin is TW 5.1.16
compatible so it doesn't even utilize the new math operators. I'm sure
performance and usability would be improved if I implemented some js code and
that may be the direction I go in the future. I left the version in beta
because I hope to get feedback on these sort of topics before saying it is
ready for production use. Thanks for the question!

[tw5] Re: In the making of a "NoteBooks" plugin ...

2019-09-10 Thread Mat
Oh, wow. Cool thing! So if I understand this right, it lets you open

Very neat how the "+" (i.e add new tiddler) comes with tag pre set for
notebook currently worked on.

Is there a difference between the dashed cricle and the green open button?
- I like the placement of the dashed circle to easily access the "open"
command but if that is all it does, then I think it is a strange visual
design for it. I'd rather have a more traditional button, perhaps showing
the word open at *that* position, i.e not in the green button. (It would
not be good with a huge *green* button tho)

IMO, the dashed circle looks like a dropzone which made me try to add a
tiddler to a notebook only to realize there is no dragging of tiddlers.
This would be neat. I.e DnD a tiddler to there to have that notebook tag
added to its current tags.

The dark gray background behind the notebooks in the sidebar is IMO
unnecessary.

Editing a notebook, i.e one of the thingies in sidebar, by adding some text
to it doesn't show up anywhere. I was expecting it to be seen between the
notebook date and the colored buttons.

I like the clear indications from hovering.

When creating a new notebook, I'm unsure how to creat it's "special tag".
I'd suggest a custom field for the new notebook edit view like
"notebook-tag: __" . Overall there's probably too much stuff in that
new notebook edit view (remove the fields: type, new fields, possibly the
rich editor toolbar, maybe the cancel button).

Overall, I like it!

[tw5] In the making of a "NoteBooks" plugin ...

2019-09-10 Thread BurningTreeC
Hi dear Tiddly Community,

I'm currently shamelessly stealing the styles from TiddlyDesktop to create
a NoteBooks plugin, a plugin for sub-notebooks within a single tiddlywiki
...

... and I'm hoping for some ideas

There's a link for who's interested: http://tw5notebooks.tiddlyspot.com/

Basically, the tab in the sidebar is for switching / editing notebooks.
Once a notebook is selected, new tiddlers are automatically tagged with its
title

I hope someone's interested to play around with it and can provide me some
inspiration :P

best wishes

as 'The Tiddlywiki Platform'.

So first question..
Does anyone else have experiance using vis.js timeline plugin?
(kixam.github.io/TW5-vsjsTimeline/)

Q2

I've set up teaching weeks.. A tiddler per week. Can I do anything clever (well
obviously i can't.. But can it be done) where the date for the next week is
taken from the date of last week +7 for example?
Start and end dates are stored as fields in each tiddler.

Q3
The default behaviour seems to be that something ends at the start of the date.
I'd like it to end at the end thus colouring in the full day on the time line.
I've started to get round this by putting a time of 24:00 in the end dates...

Q4

If I have an end time of 27th Feb 2020 16:30 in a field is it possible to just
show up to the year in the tiddler and chop off the time?

Q5
Tbc...

Right, the “plugins” folder in the root of the main repo is not the same as a
“plugins” folder within a wiki folder.

Re: [tw5] Re: Focus on edit after a tm-edit-tiddler message

2019-09-10 Thread Jeremy Ruston
Hi Cade

> Bumping this up - is there any way to set the focus to the text instead of
> the title when you go into edit mode?

The mechanism by which the title gets the focus when a tiddler is edited is
that the wikitext of the edittext widget includes the focus="true” attribute.
So, as things stand, the only way to change that behaviour would be to
overwrite that template to remove the focus attribute, and modify the body text
tiddler to add a focus attribute.

You may be able to hack things with the new tm-focus-selector message...

Best wishes

Jeremy.

Look at https://tiddlywiki.com/#ActionSetFieldWidget the $value row in

Semantically like you I prefer to use ActionDeleteFieldWidget NOT

[tw5] Using variables and regex in a macro with a list filter.

2019-09-10 Thread Christian Macedo
I'm creating a tiddler with team member details and have a macro I can call
whose purpose it is to filter that list by a tiddler field.

\define my-contacts(team role)

ROLE
NAME
TEAM
LOCATION
  <$list filter="[tag[person]team[$team$]role[$role$]sort[role]]"
template="$:/core/ui/ListItemTemplateContacts"/>

\end

The filtering issue occurs when I have team members who can have the title
'Android Developer' or 'iOS Lead Developer'.

How can I use regex *and* the macro variable `role` (given I'm passing the
value `Developer`) to match any contact with `Developer` in their role
title? Regex isn't a requirement. Just the first option that came to mind.

[tw5] BOB deleting tiddlers during reconnect - when using JD's Material theme

2019-09-10 Thread Stobot
If I should post this somewhere else since it's specific to BOB, please let
me know.

Love BOB, use it everyday. I've noticed that the "reconnect" button that
comes up when the server has issues or internet is disconnected deletes
many of my tiddlers after refreshing. Only recently during testing did I
notice that this *doesn't* seem to be case in an unmodified wiki. The only
thing I really customize the wiki with is the Material theme
(http://j.d.material.tiddlyspot.com/). Note that the reconnect button needs
to be moved down 100px or so for it to be viewable.

In an unmodified wiki, after reconnecting to internet / restarting BOB (I
use the EXE by the way), it re-connects no problem.

With the theme, I press the button, I get a header telling me to save and
restart, and when I refresh a good chunk of all of my tiddlers are gone.

For myself, I now know not to use the button, and force a full re-load each
time internet changes (I move between dock/ethernet and meetings/wifi many
times per day, each time I get the error). As I move closer to rolling this
out for my team, I worry someone will accidentally press the button and
destroy the wiki.

Any ideas of what I can try?

2019-09-10 Thread Diego Mesa
Hey Alan,

This is wonderful! I am playing around with it and very impressed!! I will
have more thoughts as I continue to play around, but in the meantime, I
would strongly suggest making the suggestion you already have listed:

"Confirmation before deletion on delete column."

be a much higher priority. I think *nothing* in TW should cause deletion
without confirmation.

Thanks for all your excellent work!
