2019-01-30 Thread Mohammad
Thank you S.S.
Thank you Tony

Thanks for your suggestion. I hope we could use a rather standard form
specially for documentation purpose.
Seems Tiddlywiki is favored comparing to wiki. Also file and folder should
be mentioned when we refer to one of them.

I would appreciate to have other opinion and put a convention to use it.

Best
Mohammad

[tw5] Re: Quinoid

2019-01-30 Thread Watt
Works well for me.
Imported a plugin, got the usual TW dialogue and saved. To reload I went back
to file list, removed the wiki and then reloaded it via local explorer. Plugin
then worked and changes persist. Import working!

Selecting plain text brings up the usual Android 'share/copy/translate etc'
menu but I can't do the same with links. I'm sure that's on your list already.

Thanks again, import is another big improvement.

[tw5] Re: Question: Tiddlywiki file name

2019-01-30 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
My two cents ...

Long form of name "TiddlyWiki" in camel case. In contexts where one is
promoting it emphasises its two key components.

Short form "TW" in contexts where its known what a writer is talking about.

The question of name extension ... "tiddlywiki.html" ... normally to
emphasize single-file simplicity.

Just thoughts

Would you not need to register ".tw" as a file type internationally for
this to get traction? As far I understand it its currently used for
databases of radio frequencies or something like that.

I think the idea is good. I'm just unsure how you'd make it viable.

effective.

I found this issue intriguing, and remembered Thomas Elmiger's Compare

So this should also work - meaning it finds and lists Data Tiddlers that:

   - have an index named: *validateAll*
   - that has its data: *true*
   - and as a bonus, it makes a link to the tiddlers

\define make-link() <$link to="$(display)$">$(display)$

<$list filter="[type[application/x-tiddler-dictionary]]" variable=dataTid>

<$set name="data" tiddler=<> index="validateAll">

Android 8.0.0.

Because of interest in non-TW formats I tested.

1 -- Internal links don't work in vanilla HTML for me. Actually it was a
"mhtml". A normal browser is better for that IMO.

2 -- Playing with TXT. Fine for viewing. Awkward to select text from
because of swipe actions Q needs.

3 -- JPG is okay but it needs pinch-zoom to get the sizing correct.

I comment on other subito.

What's changed:

* Use the same "style" for breadcrumb- and list items
* Use real tags instead of tag pills (note that `title` of the tag is shown
instead of `caption`)
* Turn off filter of direct tag in the breadcrumbs by its tag icon
* Ancestor tags in breadcrumbs of search are operating like direct tags,
they can be removed one by one

but when you close the menu, you see Paragraph tiddler is open

Is there any reason when you click on a tiddler, you dont get it focused
and you still the Menu is open?

2019-01-30 Thread @TiddlyTweeter
Ciao Mark S.

This a broader comment I'm not expecting you to solve. Just thought it
worth noting.

Load time is I think fine. But that is likely because I know what is going
on. Larger TW do take some seconds to load ...

My query is whether a "Loading xyz" could be displayed on load?

Just a thought

[tw5] Iframe and local html file

2019-01-30 Thread Mohammad
It is possible to use iframe and load local html file inside a TW

like below
Example

The below *test.html* located in examples folder

An HTML page

An HTML page
This is an HTML page.

Then in a tiddler load it as below

This way you can make a library of your offline sites or pages in TW.

My question is has anybody experiences on this from performance point of view?

[tw5] Re: [HELP] inserting images

2019-01-30 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
That's an old post. Since 5.1.18 node on TW has had the ability to serve
images:

https://tiddlywiki.com/#Using%20the%20integrated%20static%20file%20server

TiddlyServer and Bob can also serve images. TS will let you use whatever
path you want, allowing legacy upgrades.

But all these require you to be running an instance (of node, ts, or Bob)
somewhere.

But none of this is as portable as TW in the Sky.

What happened is that DB discontinued its policy that allowed images and
even web pages to be served up directly from users' DB accounts. There's a
lot more headaches in being a media company than being a file storage
company.

[tw5] Re: Experimental mobile theme

2019-01-30 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi all,

No experimental theme but a 'real' theme now: you can switch between all
installed themes without problems (no remnant styles).
The 'if-then' macros in the stylesheet work now as expected (comments in
the stylesheet did crash the 'if-then' macro).

The Menu button is the first button while the Search button needs to be the
second button.
By decreasing button size and button spacing, Search (search box + 3
buttons after the search box) stays within 360px.

Menu button, Search button and Editor toolbar have an 'active' state
('colour alert-highlight') and do not trigger the 'dirty' state anymore.

Comments welcome.

Cheers,

Ton

[tw5] Converting a single file TW instance to a folder-base node.js version?

2019-01-30 Thread stefano franchi
This must be such a trivial task that is not discussed anywhere. At least
not anywhere I could find it.

Is it done with the tiddlywiki app? If so, how? I see there are commands to
save and/or render a selection of tiddlers from an existing single-file
instance (i.e --render, --save).
What would the command to save/render *all* tiddlers in a format suitable
for later serving them from node.js?

[tw5] Re: Quinoid

2019-01-30 Thread 'Mark S.' via TiddlyWiki
Hi Tony,

Thanks for the feedback. I wasn't really intending anyone to import a MPEG.
I was really just aiming at light text and JSON. Possibly I should try to
see if there's a way to limit files over some size limit.

I wouldn't load a MPEG even into my desktop TW! It's interesting that you
got it to work, though.

It's "Quinoid is broken because it won't show movies" is the reason why I
am reluctant to allow other media to be opened. Even VLC, which is meant to
show movies, sometimes has trouble on my devices.

[tw5] Re: Current state of multi-user with access control

2019-01-30 Thread Greg Hodgins
Well now you have me all excited and I won't be able to sleep myself
tonight. ;-) Hope all is well at the hospital.

I just made another tweak to the setup. Not that I had anything against
launching from noteself.github.io and love how I can use this to try new
versions (at risk of corrupting my CouchDB data I imagine), I wanted to
have a completely vanity domain branded experience. Given
noteself/tiddlhwiki.html is just static content the fastest, simplest,
cheapest method I found was to use a GCP storage bucket. Took 2 minutes.
No web server to manage at all.

Create a CNAME in your DNS service with your new host.domain pointing to
c.storage.googleapis.com.
Create a storage bucket with a name the same as the host.domain in the DNS
Upload the content.
Set permissions (can allow anyone).
Done.

Don't forget the CouchDB CORS needs to allow your domain. Otherwise you
just get told the login failed with no real indicator of CORS being the
issue. I remember this well!!!

https://cloud.google.com/storage/docs/hosting-static-website

Having some other funky issues like a TiddlyMap plugin update that is not
working and the yellow sync error popups appear on certain operations.

[tw5] Can't specify table macros via var/macro/transclusion

2019-01-30 Thread David Nebauer
I've been unable to specify table classes in the classes pseudo-row from
"outside" the table:

Can't do it with a variable:

<$vars varclasses="myclass1 myclass2">

|<>|k
...

Can't do it with a macro:

\define macroclasses() myclass1 myclass2

|<>|k
...

Can't do it by transcluding from another tiddler:

|{{tiddlerclasses}}|k
...

I also experimented with a <$text> widget in case wikification was
involved, but without success.

It *is* possible to load a table cell from variables, macros and
transclusion, so I assume my problem is that the classes pseudo-row is
handled in a special manner. If so, is there a way around that mechanism to
load the class names from outside the table?

Note: I realise I can achieve my goal by creating my own class, copying the
content of other classes into it, and then adding the new class name
directly to the table classes pseudo-row. I'd still like to pursue this
possibility, though, if possible...

[tw5] Re: Experimental mobile theme

2019-01-30 Thread Ton Gerner
Hi Mohammad,

Thanks for testing.

It was a design decision: the Menu button toggles between Story river and
Sidebar menu. So you need to click Menu again to get to the story river.
To be honest I don't know if the 'normal' way - with sidebar above story
river (when below sidebar breakpoint) is easier. Time will tell.
Up till now (since aTW & Quinoid) I never used my phone for TW. So it is
new for me.

Anyhow I learned a lot by implementing the 'if-then' macros in my
stylesheet (needed for toggling story river / sidebar menu) ;-)

Cheers,

Ton

Yes David, In the dictionary tiddler you can put NOT only the path to local
wikis but also to online wikis.
There is two examples in https://kookma.github.io/TW-Scripts/
where Tiddlywiki toolmap and Tiddlywiki.com are searched from TW-Scripts.

The mechanisms in the cross-TW search and in the more general S.S.

All that is needed is to think it through and host it.

Mohammad, useful?

This is something I have been looking for (like cold drink in the

My information looks like an unfortunate  encounter  of a hi-speed

[tw5] Quinoid v0.0.5alpha - Serious Cat

2019-01-30 Thread TonyM
Looking good, very good Mark

Android 8.0.0

Selected apk file online on mobile and recieved update existing app, yes, open
and new version active.

Opened link to tiddlywiki.com in ff for android.
Imported from json file 4 tiddlers
Import from tw html file
Import from pdf but cant view

Added 5.1.14 wiki from google drive opened and saves.
Opened text file from one drive
Opened 2mb text file from one drive, scroll and display issues. Small text
files fine.
For some reason the Termux folder is accessible in system Explorer. Perhaps
because of rights granted when setting up.
With all wikis unchecked for display, press one anyway and a single blank
screen presented. Perhaps a message no wiki file selected for Quinoid browse.

Question
Could the local browser open in documents folder by default, if it exists, or a
default folder set?

Regards
Tony

Hi
Is tiddler attribute here added by mistake

<$count tiddler="Contents" filter=[tag[Contents]]/>

The documentation does show such attribute for Count Widget!

I think the correct syntax is as below

<$count filter=[tag[Contents]]/>

[tw5] Iframe and local html file

2019-01-30 Thread TonyM
Mohammad,

I started playing with it and my guess performance opening is related to
tiddler size, and performance running depends on what is encoded in the html,
so not much overhead.

This feature should allow using tiddlywiki as a html design, build and test
environment (and host/serve). We then could use a bulk export to hosting.

I am keen to play with html javascript solutions that abound on the internet
and open source environment.

I have joined and initiated a number of conversations on related issues
recently.

Remember that you can long-press the title in the list and then provide your

Looks cool, more experiments. I note removing an item from the list also

[tw5] Re: need help

2019-01-30 Thread Adam Shepherd
I am unsure what the current solution for firefox is, my advice for you is
to use tiddlydesktop. https://tiddlywiki.com/#TiddlyDesktop
When I use firefox, the saving function (without any firefox plugin) works
by saving a new html file every time.

[tw5] Re: need help

2019-01-30 Thread Tomi Petteri

Hi,

The solution is to make Firefox to ask always where to save, then it works.

As a new user this took me long period to figure this out :o (3 months?),
now when this done maybe I can start using the software lol. Without save
tutorials I might have figured it one day.

[tw5] Re: Current state of multi-user with access control

2019-01-30 Thread Greg Hodgins
No problem. I get more than I give here. :-)

I'm just staring to play with this for collaboration. I am sure I will
encounter more surprises and challenges along the way. The first thing
that caught me be surprise that would somewhat limit the current usability
of the solution for many use cases is that there is no isolation of
workspace per user from what I see. If I am working on a wiki at the same
time as someone else, my actions in the wiki affect the other user. If I
open a Tiddler, it appears on their screen. More to the point for me, if
I am moving things around on a map, they move around for the other users.
Even if I create a new view to try and work in isolation, the fact is the
other user's view is changed to my view too. This isn't bad for
online/interactive collaboration - think two people working on the same
spreadsheet. Same thing.

However, where it falls short is if the two or more of us wanted to do our
own thing in the wiki. Work independently contributing to the same wiki.
That appears impossible unless I am missing something.

Still, for my current purposes of collaborating on a map, it looks like it
might work quite well.

Interested in the experience of others. Perhaps Bob addresses some of
this, but again I could not even locate how to establish additional users
in Bob. TiddlyWiki nodejs install appears to offer multi-user, but not
sure if it introduces any kind of independent workspace. I'm sure
multi-user opens up a whole can of worms I've not even thought of for an
application like TW and the multi-user sync mechanisms.

All the best.
