Re: [total-madness] IMPORTANT - Printing Problem With RAH Tickets

2003-03-26 Thread Robert Hazelby
Hi Juliet and all...

[Non issuing of some Madness tickets for the RAH gig, snipped!]

Thanks for the info. Do you think I should still give them a call or is my
internet purchase print off enough to claim tickets at box office.

What you need to do is take along your booking number and the credit/debit
card that the tickets were booked with.

Also, what I have done is e-mail the RAH asking what I should do regarding
my tickets:

http://www.royalalberthall.com/rah/text_only/generic/enquiries.jsp

Click on the above link for the e-mail form.

I'm going to print off the reply they sent back and take that along with me
as well.

As for your internet purchase print - take it along. It certainly won't do
any harm in taking it, and could be very useful!

Will you be at the Mad-meet? Clive and I are going to try and make it this
 time.

Yes, I'll be in the DC from about 2pm onwards.

Hope to see you there,

Robert

[total-madness] IMPORTANT - Printing Problem With RAH Tickets

2003-03-24 Thread Robert Hazelby
Evening all,

Apologies for the cross-post to both the MTR and the TMML, but felt that
this was important enough to warrant it.

Having still not received my Madness ticket I phoned up the RAH ticket
office this evening to explain the situation.

I was informed that there had been a problem printing out a batch of the
tickets (nice of them to tell me!) and that they weren't planning to send
this batch out as it was so close to the date of the gig.

For anyone in the same position as myself you need to get along to to box
office door number 12 with your credit/debit card and the number of the
booking you made.

The ticket will then be issued then. So, no need to panic.

Personally, I feel that the level of service the RAH have provided on this
occasion to be crap. I'm sorry, but that's the way I feel. They had a
telephone number with which to contact me on and didn't even bother.

Anyway, I'm sure the gig will more than make up for it.

See you Saturday,

Rob

Evening all...

I have spoken to TOO HOT a great 7 piece ska band from Devon,
they sent a demo to Chas Smash and he rejected them saying that
Madness are not a ska band and as such did not wish to be supported
 by them.

*sighs* So instead we get some shite DJ's to `entertain` us.

Good choice Mr. Smash! Still, at least it gives us more time at the bar.

Lets get a Madmeet organised!!!

[total-madness] Indoor / Outdoor? Was `Quiet on the Madness Front`

2002-01-12 Thread Robert Hazelby

Afternoon Chris and all,

I'm with Mr G on this one, you can't beat seeing
Madness at an outdoor Summer event.

Yep, an outdoor bash beats one of the indoor events hands-down. Plus, for
some reason beer always seems to taste better when you're drinking it
outside!

Personally I would most like to see them play at
Glastonbury - an utterly superb festival and
definately worth going if you've never been (fingers
crossed they manage to get their license again for
 this year!)

Although Glastonbury is nearer for me than London, I would much prefer
another Finsbury Park gig. Not only are all the famous Madness locations
nearby, but there's loads of hotels all along Seven Sisters Road so you've
not got far to crawl after you've drunk too much.

Here's hoping for Finsbury 2002!!

All the best,

Good afternoon Mike and all...

[Bad Trader Alerts List info, gently snipped]

I would be very careful about posting accusations regarding other people, as
you could find yourself in a lot of trouble.

The TMML and MIS have had more than enough problems with spending time
sorting out arguments and the like between Madness fans over the years. I
feel that this `Bad Traders` list will do more harm than good, and start
this kind of thing back up again.

I could be wrong, and would like to be proved otherwise.

[total-madness] YOUR FAVOURITE SHIRT

2001-10-21 Thread Robert Hazelby

Morning all,

Apologies for this. Myself and Jonathan Young were meant to post this e-mail
to the list at the start of the week, but with one thing or another it
didn't get sent out.

For all you Maddies not subscribed to MIS Online, the following is an
article which appeared in last week's issue.

If you think that there are other people who may be interested, please pass
it on to them too

Last week Madness and Crunch guru, Lee Swandale required your help and
assistance with an as yet unknown Madness project, this week it's the turn
of Mr. Mark Bedford who would appreciated you lending a hand.

The task is simple, let us know what your favourite Madness T-shirt of all
time is. Perhaps it's the 'F*** Art' shirt, the `Nutty` one with the pork
pie hat, or maybe the original `Madstock` one where the band are flying
through the air. There's a whole load of T-shirts which were released over
the years which you can chose from, so get those thinking caps on.

Once you've decided which is your favourite, please send a brief description
of the shirt to:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

When enough votes have been collected, these will be passed on to Bedders so
he can view the results and get the wheels in motion for whatever he has
planned.

So far the response has been very good indeed, but we need more people to
send in their comments and suggestions!

All the best,

Robert Hazelby

2001-09-22 Thread Robert Hazelby

Morning Neil and all,

It really is a shame that the official
Madness site hasn't seen an update in such a long time.

I won't go into detail, but you may be
interested to know that if a certain someone (who I won't mention) wasn't so
keen to make up stories the official site would have been re-vamped and open
from the early part of this year.

Because of this someone, the site remains
closed and its future still remains undecided.

A shame really when most of the other major
bands have such nice official sites and all that we have at Madness.co.uk is
Bedders' funky bouncing Madness logo.

Ho-hum,

other subscribers, who tell me they received it without any problems.

The problem is being looked into at the moment, and it is hoped that it can
be sorted out as soon as possible. At this stage it isn't clear if it is a
list server problem, or something to do with hotmail (and possibly a few
other) ISPs.

Evening all,

Time for another of my bi-monthly (it may even be less than that)

Have realised that nothing has been heard regarding the eagerly anticipated
`Velvet Ghost` project. Unless I've missed something, things seem to have
gone a bit quiet since the initial fanfare last year, when we were flooded
with news/info/press reports and the website.

Are the finishing touches being lovingly made to the album, or has it been
put back for some reason or another?

I'm sure that like most people I'm dying for the album to be released.

Can anyone shine any more light on this?

[total-madness] Keep Moving Picture Disc - The ongoing saga

2001-01-08 Thread Robert Hazelby

Evening Peter, Simon and all...

[Me saying it was a US release, snipped!]

It was indeed a UK release, brought out around June 1984 if my memory
serves me right. But they did use the US track-listing for the album to
make it that bit extra special. So Wings Of A Dove and The Sun And The
Rain
are on there instead of Waltz Into Mischief and Time For Tea, and
Prospects
is track one of side two (proof that it should have been a single!). The
remastered CD version of the US Keep Moving had these two surgically stuck
 back on at the end.

Well, that'll teach me for being too lazy to get off my arse and rummage
through the old collection, won't it! :-)

I'll have to go and have a look at that now.

Cheers,

Robert

[total-madness] Keep Moving Picture Disc (off-lists)

2001-01-07 Thread Robert Hazelby

Afternoon Simon,

Hope things are well with you.

I'm not sure if anyone has replied to this or not, but if they haven't,
perhaps I can be of some use...

I purchased a "Keep Moving" picture disc for 12. It has a different track
listing from the normal version of "Keep Moving" and includes both "Wings
Of
A Dove" "The Sun The Rain". I was wondering if this was a bargin and if
it is rare? Anybody got any ideas?

This sounds very much like the US Geffen release of the album as this has
the extra two tracks on and if I remember correctly, a different running
order too.

I'm not really sure how rare it is though, but 12 pounds is a good price for
something like that.

All the best,

Robert

[total-madness] In need of an update!!!

2000-11-07 Thread Robert Hazelby

Evening all,

Just been looking at the TMML website at:
http://members.nbci.com/totalmadmail/

Apparently it hasn't been update since November 3rd 1999 Over a year
ago!

Isn't it about time it had a bit of an update? Even if it meant clearing
down some of the stuff that's on there?

What do others think?

[total-madness] Something to Get You all Talking

2000-10-01 Thread Robert Hazelby

Morning Maddies,

I hope this Sunday finds everyone bright and breezy!

Things do seem to be a tad on the quiet side at the moment don't they? Ah
well, not to worry. I'm sure things will pick up soon.

In the meantime, here's something that may get you all talking.

I was in the pub last night with a few mates and one of them said `Have you
heard what Pearl Jam have done?`. Not being a fan of the band and knowing
very little about them I revealed my ignorance and replied `No, what?`.

Well, it turns out that the band have been so sick of the fans paying over
the odds for crap quality bootlegs that the band decided to do something
about it. They have just (or are just about to) release 25 albums (yes, 25!)
with each one featuring a different show from their European tour.

This looks to me like an arrangement that will make everyone happy (apart
from the bootlegger). Quality is of the highest standard as it's all from
the soundboard and you get proper sleeve artwork etc, so the fans are happy,
whilst the band and record company are obviously pleased as the fans are
buying the official product rather than some crappy bootleg recorded on
someone's naff Matsui tape-recorder.

Obviously this got me thinking. We all know that Virgin love to screw the
fans for every penny they have by releasing 15 different versions of the
same album, with the number of Madness concerts that have been recorded,
Virgin must be sitting on a potential goldmine here.

So, what does everyone think? I have loads of bootlegs all on tape and
whilst I could copy them all to CD, I really can't be bothered with the
hassel, and anyway, I'd love to have some proper artwork etc.

I'm amazed that Virgin haven't thought about this already. It won't stop,
but it'll certainly reduce the number of bootlegs being bought.

Any comments?

Robert

[total-madness] Websites - Was NUTTY SOUNDS Network - Launch Date 23rd July

2000-06-24 Thread Robert Hazelby

Morning Peter and all...

[Lots of website URLS gently snipped!]

Seeing all these addresses listed got me thinking. What are the legal
ramifications of using a band name as a website address without their
 permission???

[Football URL stuff chopped]

Like what would have happened if a fan had got
the rights to the domain name "www.madness.co.uk"??? Could Madness have
sued to get it for themselves when they got round to setting up a website?
Hasn't there been cases of this already? Companies or towns having to sue
folk who got the domain name with the name of the company or town in it?

Does anyone know about this side of things? It's been a day of pondering
 for me;-)

I'm not sure what Madness would have done if the .co.uk address was already
taken.

When Bedders was initially planning to start the Madness website he
originally wanted www.madness.com but told me that it had already been
taken. Have a look and let us know what's there! So he had to opt for the
co.uk address we now know.

The thing that's got me pondering now is that all the URL's that were
originally listed above we dished out freely by some company that you just
register your details with. What happens if for example Virgin say `Oi, we'd
like velvetghost.co.uk and we'll pay xxx amount for it`. I'm sure the person
owning the free address would probably get the two-fingered salute from the
people providing the free URL and webspace.

On the subject of the Madness website. Is it me or hasn't it been updated in
donkeys years?! Also, who won the sodding boots etc that each band member
was giving away? Did I miss the announcement somewhere?

All the best,

Robert

p.s- I hear the Queen will be knighting a certain Mr. Scat next year for his
contribution to the Madness community ;-) What a star!

[total-madness] Various Bits and Pieces

2000-06-11 Thread Robert Hazelby

Afternoon Maddies,

Hope everyone is keeping well.

I'm assuming that you're all enjoying some fantastic weather as the list
seems to pretty much dead at the moment. Where are you all!?

So, did any of you on here manage to catch a certain `Velvet Ghost` perform
at yesterday's Fleadh in London's Finsbury Park?

I couldn't really justify going all the way to London to see Cathal perform
for a half hour or so set, but I know some of you live in the locality and
went along.

I'm sure I speak for the majority here when I say that `We're dying to know
what went on`. Splill the beans and give us a blow-by-blow account.

On a slightly different subject. My C drive's master boot record decided to
wave goodbye to me yesterday and although I tried everything to get the
system back up and running, the only solution in the end was to zap the
drive and start out again.

What this means is that if you've mailed me in the past few days and are
waiting for a reply, you'll need to drop me the mail again as I've lost it.
My address book is empty as well, so if you're wondering why I'm not getting
in touch with you it's because I no longer have your address.

And finally, a little request. With the loss of my C drive, I also am now
without MIS Bulletin's 41 - the present. If you have any back issues kicking
around, please get in touch with me so that I can attempt to re-build the
archive.

All the nutty best,

Robert Hazelby

[total-madness] More Docu news (was:thanks robert..).

2000-04-16 Thread Robert Hazelby

MrB,

There's a review of one of the day's filming in issue 15 of `Nut Inc`
(reviewed in tonight's edition of the MIS) which documents the film crew
taking a few members of hard-core Madness fans around Camden where they're
chatting about what they got up to, what the early gigs were like etc.

Chris Carter-Pegg has been filmed with his mammoth Madness collection.

Apparently 40 hours of footage has been shot for the 40 minute show but I
have no idea what will be used and what will be thrown out.

To get hold of a copy of `Nut Inc` issue 15, get along to the fanzines
section on the MIS Online site at: http://www.jabba.demon.co.uk/mis/

[total-madness] Where do people get their info from? (Was: Bad News: CONFIRMED)

2000-04-08 Thread Robert Hazelby

Morning Paul and all...

[Where do people get all their info from?]

Surely rumours being posted to the list are one of the highlights of the
list traffic.

We've had a fair number of events that have started off as rumours, but once
the few shreads of information have been announced, people start digging
around and see if there are any truth behind the rumours. Some are revealed
as complete rubbish, whilst others go on to be major news.

As for events like Madstock and tours in general, I can confirm (and I am
sure that Mr. Foley will back me up on this) that one minute a tour or
concert is on, the next it's not.

With regards to Madstock 5 (or Madstock 2000), I can say that it wasn't a
rumour. The Finsbury event was indeed planned, but obviously things have not
worked out as we would have liked.

Apologies for waffling on, but I enjoy reading all the rumours and mumblings
that appear on here.

[total-madness] Madness in Belgium?

2000-02-27 Thread Robert Hazelby

Evening Yannick and all,

What news have you heard to confirm that Madness will indeed play in
Belgium?

I hope that the lads decide to play as it will give some of the mainland
Europe Maddies a chance to catch the boys without the cost of huge travel
expenses.

Shall I ask Bedders again? The last time I did, he denied any knowledge of
the band playing in Belgium.

Don't trust these event organisers 100%. You'll probably find that they've
booked a cover band! Didn't a few Maddies get ripped-off a year or so back
when they were promised Madness and ended up with something completely
different?

Evening Pete and all...

This question got ignored the first time I asked it, so I'll try again:
WHy
was a drum machine used on Uncle Sam and Sweetest Girl when Woody
 was still with the band?

 On The Beat Pete

The reason why a drum machine was used was because Virgin wanted the sound
on the recording to be as clean and as polished as possible.

If I remember rightly, they started using Woody and then decided to drop him
and spent ages programming drum machines instead.

Hope this helps,

which the band were quite keen to resurrect as they liked them. I think the
`Nutty` and the `F*ck Art` are the two retro ones.

There's also mugs, lighters, a wooly hat, and
the item that I'd like to get - a Madness fleece for sale.

Mark isn't having a go at producing any of the
material this year as he's up to his eyeballs in work, but he says that there
should be a good selection of goodies to get your hands on. If you want to buy
everything, Mark says that 100 pounds should cover it.

Hope this helps.

All the best,

Robert Hazelby

[total-madness] Fw: Help

1999-10-04 Thread Robert Hazelby

Hiya Maddies,

This mail arrived in my mailbox a day or two...

I'm french so please excuse my language!
I need a favour from you: my boyfriend is irish and a fan of
Madness ' songs. He is a guitar player so would it be possible for
you to send me the partitions of some great songs?
I know it is a lot but I didn't found any on the net!
Anyway thanks for the fun in the house and take it easy!!!

 Ally

I know there are a few sites out there with Madness guitar tabs available
for download. I have no idea where these sites are, but I know some of you
do. If you could possibly help this girl out, please could you mail her the
details at:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Many thanks,

Robert Hazelby

[total-madness] Madness do Radio 2

1999-09-30 Thread Robert Hazelby

Hiya Maddies,

I was meant to put this in last week's MIS Bulletin but forgot - whoops!!!

I've not seen this mentioned here yet (although when I do a `send and
receive` I'll probably download 15 mails about it!) so I thought I'd better
spread the word as it were.

Bedders tells me that Madness will be in Sheffield on Saturday 2nd October
where they will be taking part in a radio show for BBC Radio 2. I can't tell
you any more than that, because that's all I know.

Hope this is enough to go on. Perhaps someone can rummage through the `Radio
Times` and see if something is in there about it?

All the best,

Robert Hazelby
