[Bug 311479] Re: DVDs will not Mount: No medium found
This is possibly related to the initial burning of the DVDs. Even though burning the data DVDs completes successfully, a burned DVD could not be read by the BIOS to see if it was a startup disc. I learned this after leaving a disc in the drive by accident when restarting. The drive made strange noises and the computer would not boot. After a while, I had to manually eject the disc to allow the boot-up process to continue. This happened before grub loaded. I think it was when the BIOS was trying to check for a boot disc in the drive. I hope this information helps to narrow down the problem. The DVDs still work normally in my PS3 and I can sometimes get them to work on the desktop computer where they were originally burned. -- DVDs will not Mount: No medium found https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/311479 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 311479] Re: DVDs will not Mount: No medium found
After much research and trial/error, I discovered that this was actually a problem with one my my DVD drives. I thought it was affecting several computers because, in some cases, I received a dbus error after inserting a burned DVD-R. However, I now suspect that this dbus message is related to a longer-than-normal load time for the DVD-R . It seems benign and would be best investigated within a separate bug report. To summarize, one computer is never able to read DVD-Rs. Either the drive doesn't support that format or it is broken. My other system is able to load burned DVD-Rs, but I sometimes receive a dbus warning. The PS3 is always able to read them without issues. [Bug 210346] [NEW] Network Manager does not automatically connect on login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: network-manager With the latest version of Network Manager in Hardy, it no longer connects to my wireless network automatically upon login. I have to manually select the network each time. Furthermore, sometimes it will connect to the network, show signal strength, and then immediately disconnect. Selecting the network a second time always creates a more permanent connection. This issue did happen in the past and then it looked to be fixed. However, it is resurfacing in the latest Hardy packages. I am happy to provide any other information that might be helpful. ** Affects: network-manager (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Network Manager does not automatically connect on login https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/210346 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 208008] Re: Pidgin Notification Icon blinking incorrectly
This appears to be fixed with the latest Pidgin 2.4.0 package. It might just be coincidence that it didn't occur based on the startup sequence so I will continue to monitor it. [Bug 208008] [NEW] Pidgin Notification Icon blinking incorrectly
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: pidgin When pidgin is set to launch automatically upon login and the Blink on new Message setting is enabled, the space taken up in the notification area is much larger than it should be when blinking. It actually grows and shrinks as the icon blinks. This only happens with pidgin, but very few applications have icons that blink in the notification area. This only appears to happen when pidgin is configured to start automatically. Perhaps it has to do with the order in which things are launched while logging in. Manually exiting and then re-launching pidgin fixes the problem until the next login. I am running the latest Hardy beta, but I believe this happens in gutsy as well. ** Affects: pidgin (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Pidgin Notification Icon blinking incorrectly https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/208008 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 178032] Re: Add to Address Book kills Metacity it doesn't return
I can confirm this bug and I can reproduce it with Gutsy (including latest updates). However, I believe that gtk-window-decorator is actually crashing, not evolution or metacity. [Bug 47854] Re: Can't print to photo tray with HP PhotoSmart 7760
I just upgraded to cups 1.2.1 and removed the hpoj package. Now I can print to the photo tray successfully! However, I cannot get it to print without a margin. gnome-photo-printer works the best, but there is still a slight margin on all sides. I believe I have all settings correct within the application and I have set all margins to 0.00. I'm guessing there is some margin setting in a cups configuration file somewhere that I need to change? Any help would be appreciated. I think we are very close to solving this issue, but the photos just don't look right without borderless printing. [Bug 46209] Re: Nautilus Passes Relative Path to vim for Remote Files
I tested this and I think that in your syntax above, path refers to the absolute path with leading slashes. When I substitute an absolute path including the leading slash for the word path in your above command line example, it works correctly and opens the remote file.
