[Bug 1705864] Re: Nautilus no longer starts (again)

2017-10-31 Thread el_gallo_azul
No, I haven't yet reinstalled the operating system. It's VERY tempting,
due to the accumulation of bugs over time that happens on a computer,
but unfortunately I haven't had a chance to operate without my main
computer for the 2 weeks that it takes to reinstall the operating
system, applications, and configure everything again.

Yes, the last time I had this issue was yesterday. I don't know of any
way to make Nautilus start functioning again other than rebooting the
computer.

Note that this particular bug is not common. ie. It doesn't occur every
day. It happens every couple of weeks on average.

[Bug 1715521] Re: Video not shown in full in VLC, although shows correctly in YouTube

2017-09-07 Thread el_gallo_azul
Hm. You are right. I watched the same original video using `totem`
application, and it does indeed show my full screen.

It must be something to do with VLC settings, but I've just spent some
time looking through VLC settings, and trying some changes, but I
haven't found what causes a video to appear like this.

This bug report can be closed. Sorry. Now I'll have to find out what's
going on in my VLC settings.

[Bug 1715521] [NEW] Video not shown in full in VLC, although shows correctly in YouTube

2017-09-06 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

Yahoo! Mail was not working this morning, because Yahoo had carried out
an "upgrade". For that reason, I decided to record the fault using
application "recordMyDesktop". I did that, and when I played the
resulting .ogv video back in VLC, only part of my desktop was shown.
That has happened before, so I finally decided to report that bug as
well today. See https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gtk-
recordmydesktop/+bug/1715517.

I then loaded the (apparently) faulty video to YouTube, because I had
recorded it a couple of times, with some changes to settings, but the
result was the same when I played it back, and I thought the video would
have some value in showing the Yahoo! Mail error anyway.

However, when I watched the uploaded video in YouTube
(https://youtu.be/3XtiMXaD_Q4), my full desktop is in fact shown. When I
play the video in VLC, only part of the video area is shown (see
screenshot of video playing back in VLC: https://imgur.com/ngJTrco).

[Bug 1715517] Re: recordMyDesktop doesn't record the full screen any more

2017-09-06 Thread el_gallo_azul
My apologies. I just watched the version of the recording tyhat I
uploaded to YouTube today, and sure enough, the full screen is shown.

Before I uploaded it to YouTube, I watched it in VLC media player
(version 2.2.2 Weatherwax), and that's where it appeared that only part
of the screen had been recorded. Now it looks like a VLC media player
bug.

[Bug 1715517] [NEW] recordMyDesktop doesn't record the full screen any more

2017-09-06 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

For a couple of years, this application worked perfectly. I mainly use
it to report bugs to websites and bugs in applications. Today, I want to
use it to let Yahoo know that Yahoo Mail is not working.

The problem is that the full screen is not recorded - this problem
started a year or two ago. A smaller window within the screen is
recorded, which includes the top of the screen, but the recorded area
seems to be about the top centre, such that the left-hand side, the
right-hand side, and the bottom of the screen are all outside the
boundaries of the recording.

[Bug 1705864] Re: Nautilus no longer starts (again)

2017-07-23 Thread el_gallo_azul
Yes, I always tried to add each instance of this `nautilus` bug to
previous bug reports for the same bug. I wasn't always able to find
them, though.

You might well be right. It's more than a year since I last did a fresh
installation of the OS, and in fact, it has received a version upgrade
in that time, which in my experience, consistently breaks bits of the
system. At least this time, the computer still booted OK after the
upgrade, which is a first for me.

Due to the current level of accumulated quirks and errors, I am now
reaching the point where it is becoming so inconvenient to persist with
my current installation that I'll do a fresh installation as soon as I
get the opportunity for the week or so that's required to configure the
fresh installation again.

[Bug 1705864] [NEW] Nautilus no longer starts (again)

2017-07-22 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

I have reported this bug several times (about 5 times) before.

I have not had this error occur for some weeks.

I was using nautilus during my current session about half an hour ago.

I have tried to start nautilus by:

1. Clicking "Show in folder" from Google Chromium browser; and
2. Clicking the "Files" icon in the Unity Launcher; and
3. Typing "nautilus" into a terminal.

The best I get is the icon in the Launcher flashes as the application
tries to start.

[Bug 1667853] Re: Extra indicator item (text) appears next to graphs

2017-03-09 Thread el_gallo_azul
Hooray. That worked.

I deleted EVERYTHING in Indicator items..., however the graphs are still
there (even after a reboot). The additional text item is gone.

However, this is still a bug. The graphs used to be the Indicator
items..., such that removing an Indicator item... would remove the
selected graph.

[Bug 1667853] Re: Extra indicator item (text) appears next to graphs

2017-03-09 Thread el_gallo_azul
Thanks @mh21.

I currently have the 6 indicator items that I want, which are the 6
graphs, but I also have the text item at the end.

As I described in my 2nd and 3rd paragraphs under "4) What happened
instead" in my original bug report, I am not able to get rid of the text
now, because there is no empty line within `indicator-multiload` >
Preferences > Indicator items...

I am about to remove EVERYTHING in Indicator items... as you suggest. I
kept a screenshot of my preferences, because it seems to me that I will
have to configure them again.

This matter is a bug in my opinion, because I am not able to get rid of
the text.

It would not be a bug if the text disappeared by deleting an empty line
in Indicator items

that scrolling to one extreme would make it go away, but alas it
doesn't.

This additional text item must have been included in a recent update of
the application.

[Bug 1667853] Re: Extra indicator item (text) appears next to graphs

2017-03-06 Thread el_gallo_azul
The text item that appears next to the graphs changed a couple of days
ago, and is now "Load" instead of "Disk.

[Bug 1667853] [NEW] Extra indicator item (text) appears next to graphs

2017-02-24 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
-> About Ubuntu

`el_gallo_azul@W2600CR-850Pro:~$ lsb_release -rd
Description:Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS
Release:16.04`

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

`el_gallo_azul@W2600CR-850Pro:~$ apt-cache policy indicator-multiload
indicator-multiload:
  Installed: 0.4-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 0.4-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 0.4-0ubuntu4 500
500 http://mirror.optus.net/ubuntu xenial/universe amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
`

3) What you expected to happen

The same 6 graphs that I chose years ago continue to appear on-screen
unchanged

4) What happened instead

A couple of days ago, I noticed a new item had appeared immediately
adjacent to my 6 selected Indicator items (the graphs), and it is text
which says "Disk X kB/s/Y kB/s". I'll try to attach a screenshot I took
of it.

Note that yesterday, I went to Preferences > Indicator items... and saw
that above my first chosen indicator item "CPU $(percent(cpu.inuse))"
there appeared an additional, apparently empty, line. I selected the
empty line, clicked "Remove", and the additional text disappeared from
where it had been adjacent to the indicator-multiload graphs.

When I saw the text there next to the graphs again this morning, I tried
the same thing, but the additional empty line was not there for me to
Remove.

[Bug 1504688] Re: fsck runs on every boot (clean install, single ext4 filesystem)

2016-08-30 Thread el_gallo_azul
This started after I upgraded from 14.04.05 to 16.04 a couple of days
ago.

I've just edited /etc/default/grub and changed the line

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

to

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash fastboot"

I rebooted and don't see the message

(eg. "/dev/sda1: clean, 367968/13541376 file, 7923316/54146048 blocks")

any more during boot.

3) What you expected to happen

The application starts easily and quickly

4) What happened instead

4.1 As soon as starting the app, the screen greys out, as if running low
on system resources. I can now rule that possibility out, because I had
only just booted, I had not started any other applications, and this
computer has LOADS of memory and LOADS of processing power. This
'greying out' lasts for about 30 seconds or so, and I cannot use the
application at all during this time.

4.2 Also right near the end of this 'greying out' time, an error message
appears, saying "The application Rhythmbox has closed unexpectedly",
despite the fact that the application Rhythmbox HAS NOT closed. I attach
a screenshot of the message.

This bug has been occurring for more than a year, and occurs EVERY TIME
that I start the application.

If I am connected to one of my wifi networks, and then select a

[Bug 1573809] [NEW] Month 'forward' and 'back' icons skip months

2016-04-22 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

Whether I am using the Panel version, or start the application
separately, it is not possible to scroll forward or backward to the next
month.

Right now, the Month says "April". If I click the 'forward' icon once
(very quickly), it goes from "April" to "September" or "August" or
"June" (I just tried it several times, trying to do the worlds fastest
click on my left mouse button, and managed to get the jump down to 2
months, which indicates that it is related to the duration of the left
mouse button press).

If I run orage from a terminal, and then click the applications
'forward' and 'back' icons, the following messages appear:

[Bug 918019] Re: Firefox does not use default application to open binary files

2015-09-19 Thread el_gallo_azul
Thanks Martinique. That sounds promising, so I've made the same tweaks
myself.

I won't know in the short term if they have been successful, because I
stopped using Firefox as my default browser more than a year ago for
this and a couple of other reasons. Google Chromium is the default now.

I think my comments were pretty objective.
Ubuntu fails at providing a decent user experience, and it's getting worse.
Ubuntu sucks at supporting NVidia (which is probably mostly NVidia's
fault, but other distros do better nonetheless).
Ubuntu spends very little effort in improving its desktop operating system
since their interest have moved to mobile.
Ubuntu fails at fixing bugs in a decent time.

Now all of this may well be OT here, but they are facts, with little

[Bug 1402071] [NEW] External USB disk appears but it is no longer connected

2014-12-12 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
- About Ubuntu

ubuntu 14.04 LTS

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

gnome-disk-utility:i386 3.10.0-1ubuntu3

3) What you expected to happen

When I had safely removed the disk, the disk would not appear in the
utility again until I had connected it again.

4) What happened instead

Yesterday I looked at the external disk in gnome-disk-utility 3.10.0.
When I finished, I clicked the power off icon.

That caused:
1. The partitions of that disk to disappear;
2. The disk to appear a second time in the list within gnome-disk-utility, with
all its original partitions; and
3. The Ubuntu has experienced an error application to start.

I right-clicked on the disk in the Launcher, selected Save removal,
and it worked.

I plugged the disk's USB cable in again, and it mounted as normal.

I then repeated exactly the steps above, except I might not have got the
Ubuntu has experienced an error message.

I did it all a third time.

I then left the computer for about 10 hours.

I just started using the computer again 30 minutes ago. The external
USB disk does not appear in the Launcher. I started gnome-disk-utility
to look at an internal disk, and the external USB disk still appears in
gnome-disk-utility despite the fact that it is not connected.

It is the dodgy version of the disk that appears (per step 2 above),
with no partitions and only the text No Media where the partition
descriptions would be - see screenshot http://imgur.com/XsZ3Oic

(I don't know if those code switches work here, but I can't work out

The browser was running fine after the terminal showed the line

PostClientToServerMessage() failed during GetUpdates

Then I tried to Save link as... and the browser crashed, and the last two
lines above then appeared in the terminal.

I've never worked out what a magnet URL is, so it's probably a HTTP
URL.

I just noticed Message #8 so I will now go and try that...

[Bug 1348363] [NEW] Fault trying to mount internal HDD at startup

2014-07-24 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

Ubuntu 14.04 (from Question #251754).

I want to mount my internal HDD at at startup (I boot from an SSD). I
attempt to set this, following this procedure:

1. Open Disks utility
2. Select the disk
3. Below the disk's Volumes, click on the More actions button
4. Select Edit Mount Options...
5. Select Automatic Mount Options Off
6. Under Mount Options, ensure that Mount at startup is selected
7. Click OK
8. Enter password into Authenticate dialog box
9. Restart

but this procedure doesn't work. Upon rebooting, and after Grub attempts
to start Ubuntu, I receive the error message An error occurred while
mounting /mnt/4f721fc0-8072-453f-b48f-ca686bd89549. Press S to skip
mounting or M for manual recovery.

I press S and the boot process continues OK. If I try to mount the disk
immediately after booting, I receive the error message Unable to access
Storage.

So then I start the Disks utility and set it to Automatic Mount Options
On and reboot.

To me, it seems like this should work, but it doesn't.

A number of photos of the process are at

https://imgur.com/a/yZHD8

(Alt+PrtScn doesn't work after selecting More actions).

+ Ubuntu 14.04 (from Question #251754).
+
+ I want to mount my internal HDD at at startup (I boot from an SSD). I
+ attempt to set this, following this procedure:

  1. Open Disks utility
  2. Select the disk
  3. Below the disk's Volumes, click on the More actions button
  4. Select Edit Mount Options...
  5. Select Automatic Mount Options Off
  6. Under Mount Options, ensure that Mount at startup is selected
  7. Click OK
  8. Enter password into Authenticate dialog box
  9. Restart

but this procedure doesn't work. Upon rebooting, and after Grub attempts
to start Ubuntu, I receive the error message An error occurred while
mounting /mnt/4f721fc0-8072-453f-b48f-ca686bd89549. Press S to skip
mounting or M for manual recovery.

I press S and the boot process continues OK. If I try to mount the disk
immediately after booting, I receive the error message Unable to access
  Storage.

So then I start the Disks utility and set it to Automatic Mount Options
  On and reboot.

To me, it seems like this should work, but it doesn't.

A number of photos of the process are at

  https://imgur.com/a/yZHD8

(Alt+PrtScn doesn't work after selecting More actions).

I have Ubuntu 14.04 as well, and from
http://homebank.free.fr/downloads.php it seems to me that there is no
other way to install version 4.5.6 other than using the Ubuntu
repository or compiling the application from the source code.

[Bug 1276377] Re: qif import shows 0 items

2014-04-30 Thread el_gallo_azul
Boo hoo.

Ubuntu 14.04
HomeBank 4.5.5

I was using HomeBank successfully on Ubuntu 13.04 until about
31.12.2013.

Then my computer broke - got it fixed
Then Ubuntu 13.04 broke - updated to 13.10
Then Ubuntu 13.10 broke - updated to 14.04
Then Ubuntu 14.04 didn't work properly
Then I freshly installed Ubuntu 14.04 from a DVD five days ago. I'm just
getting everything going again.

Today, I tried to import a QIF file of the period 28.12.2013 to
30.04.2014 - the import process starts OK but then Transactions = 0.

I tried to see what would happen with QIF files that I successfully
imported into HomeBank previously, but the same thing happened.

[Bug 1252910] Re: Unable to install Search Engines in Firefox 25.0

2014-04-26 Thread el_gallo_azul
I had problems since I updated from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, and
other problems when I updated from Ubuntu 13.10 to Ubuntu 14.04. Rather
than spend all my time trying to fix problems, I reinstalled Ubuntu
14.04 from DVD, two days ago.

Today is the first time that I have tried to add a search engine which
was not available to add directly via the Search Engines drop-down arrow
 Add

I attach a screenshot.

[Bug 919418] Re: Doesn't add new tracks to music library (music stored on external USB hard drive)

2014-04-08 Thread el_gallo_azul
It was a long time ago that I reported this bug. I now use Ubuntu 13.04
and a later version of Rhythmbox.

Feel free to close this bug or whatever you need to do for LTS version.

[Bug 912570] Re: Menu not showing on more than one application

2014-04-08 Thread el_gallo_azul
I haven't had that problem with the application menu not showing for a
while now.

The difference might be that I am using

1. Newer hardware with much greater processing amd RAM capacity; or

2. Later versions of the operating system and software.

It doesn't make any difference to me what happens to this bug report
now.

[Bug 1030207] Re: Rhythmbox stops playing near the end of an MP3 track

2014-04-06 Thread el_gallo_azul
I probably would test it and let you know, but:

1. I only use Rhythmbox on my new computer in another room now.
2. Rhythmbox seems to be quite resource-demanding, so it works much better on a
computer with a couple of Intel Xeon E5 processors and 32GB of RAM than this
old clunker with one Pentium 4 and 3GB of RAM. That computer uses Ubuntu 13.04,
instead of 12.04.
3. My music collection resides on an external hard disk which I leave plugged
in to the computer.
4. That's why I can't test Rhythmbox on Ubuntu 12.04 now.

Feel free to close this bug or whatever you need to do for LTS version.

[Bug 1252905] Re: Pinned tabs and bookmarks toolbar have disappeared

2013-11-23 Thread el_gallo_azul
It looks like I might have just fixed it myself, by carrying out the
following procedure:

1. Uninstall Firefox using the Ubuntu Software Centre
2. Delete the folder /home/(Home)/.mozilla
3. Install Firefox using the Ubuntu Software Centre
4. Reconfigure Firefox setup.

I've noticed a couple of minor changes (eg. one or two missing add-ons,
and I had to fix my Bookmarks Menu a little bit) but the main thing is
that my Bookmarks Toolbar now appears as it is supposed to, and my
Pinned Tabs don't disappear every time that I close the browser.

It's a pain in the neck that I have to set up all my Search Engines yet
again.

I hope it doesn't go bad again, because there are certain things about
the presentation of some websites within Firefox to other browsers, like
Google Chromium and Google Chrome, and it gives me functionality that I
can't get in Epiphany.

[Bug 1252905] [NEW] Pinned tabs and bookmarks toolbar have disappeared

2013-11-19 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

Up until 19 November 2013, my Firefox was configured with 4 pinned tabs.
For some reason. when I started Firefox yesterday, Firefox had no pinned
tabs, and in addition to that, all bookmarks on the Bookmarks Toolbar
had disappeared, despite the fact that View was set to show the
Bookmarks Toolbar.

What may be relevant is that shortly beforehand, I had clicked on
Firefox in my Launcher to launch Firefox, and it didn't launch. I then
opened the System Monitor and closed the running Firefox processes. I
was then able to launch Firefox.

What also might be relevant is that I am able to see my bookmarks (in my
Bookmarks Toolbar) if I:
1. FirefoxViewToolbarsBookmarks Toolbar (to deselect)
2. FirefoxViewToolbarsBookmarks Toolbar (to select)

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
- About Ubuntu

Ubuntu 13.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

firefox 25.0+build3-0ubuntu0.13.04.1

3) What you expected to happen

Firefox opened normally with all my pinned tabs and with the Bookmarks
Toolbar.

4) What happened instead

Firefox opened without my pinned tabs and without showing the bookmarks
I have saved to my Bookmarks Toolbar.

Manage Search Engines from the list of ADD-ONS presented when I did a
search for add-ons.

Steps to reproduce:

Actual results:

The plugin was not installed. I received the error message Sorry, you
need a Mozilla-based browser (such as Firefox) to install a search
plugin..

[Bug 1166017] [NEW] I can't change the default web browser

2013-04-08 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

what you’re trying to achieve

The default browser is Mozilla Firefox. I want to change it to Epiphany,
because it starts faster.

what steps you take

I have changed the nominated default in System Settings...--Details--
Default Applications to Epiphany. (I have also updated both /etc/hosts
and /etc/hostname.) I have also followed all the steps in

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/WebBrowsers

which are

Setting Default Browser

In the command line, type sudo update-alternatives --config x-www-
browser

A list of installed browsers will be displayed with a different number
next to each browser. Type the number corresponding to the browser of
your choice.

defbrowser.png

what happens

However, if I right-click on a document of type 'HTML document
(text/html)', there is no 'Open with...' option, so I select 'Open', and
the web page opens with Mozilla Firefox. After carrying out each of the
above steps, I restarted my computer each time, and I have just finished
starting it again before writing this.

what you think should happen instead

If I right-click on a document of type 'HTML document (text/html)', and
select 'Open', the web page opens with Epiphany.

[Bug 1166017] Re: I can't change the default web browser

2013-04-08 Thread el_gallo_azul
I received an e-mail from

Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot 1166...@bugs.launchpad.net;

that said

It seems that your bug report is not filed about a
specific source package though, rather it is just filed against Ubuntu
in general. It is important that bug reports be filed about source
packages so that people interested in the package can find the bugs
about it.

I tried everything that the e-mail suggested to find the name of the
package, without success.

I have tried using the Package -- Choose... link above, but when I try
to search for things like 'kernel' or 'Ubuntu' I receive the message

Too many matches. Please try to narrow your search.

[Bug 1016406] Re: command field appears when playing a movie

2013-02-14 Thread el_gallo_azul
I can't remember if this happened only with Ubuntu 12.10, or if I saw it
on 12.04. I removed 12.10 and reinstalled 12.04 some time on 2012, but
I'm not sure if that would have been before or after I reported this
bug.

Does it appear without pressing alt too?

I don't really know what this questions means. The bug describes what I
did. ie. I did not press anything that is not mentioned. That is, I did
not press alt (or anything else) before it appeared.

Did you press Alt when it did appear?

No. The only thing that I pressed after it appeared was Esc in order to
make it go away.

[Bug 1058672] Re: Can't add my Facebook account

2012-12-12 Thread el_gallo_azul
I installed the updates today in Ubuntu 12.04 which included updates for
Gwibber and for the 3 plugins: Facebook, Twitter, and identi.ca.

Gwibber is now version 3.4.2.

After completing the update I did the following:
1. Removed Gwibber from within Facebook 'My Apps'.
2. Added a Facebook account again to Gwibber. It looked better than before
except...
3. No Facebook entries appeared in Gwibber.
4. I looked at Accounts again in Gwibber. There is now a Facebook account in
the list of accounts, unlike before today. Twitter says 'el_gallo_azul has been
authorised by Twitter' like it did before today's updates, but Facebook still
has the 'Authorise' button and the text 'Authorise with Facebook'.
5. I then restarted the computer, removed Gwibber from Facebook's 'My Apps',
and added a Facebook account to Gwibber again.
6. Right now, the Facebook account still shows in Gwibber's list of accounts,
but no Facebook entries appear on Gwibber's home page, and Gwibber's Facebook
account still appears as in point 4 above.

[Bug 614742] Re: [meta] cannot add facebook account, facebook does not update and more

2012-11-19 Thread el_gallo_azul
For me, it's happening on

Ubuntu 12.04
Gwibber 3.4.2

I have tried

Web browser -- Facebook -- Apps -- My Apps -- Remove Gwibber
Quit browser
Start Gwibber
Create Facebook account and authorise again, giving the same 'Success' message,
but quitting Gwibber and restarting it shows only my (good) Twitter account.

[Bug 1076195] [NEW] Graphics driver problem repeatedly causes OS to fail

2012-11-07 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

I don't know if xorg causes the problem, but I have endeed up finding
'xdiagnose' when searching using the term 'repair' from the Dash on a
live Ubuntu 12.10 DVD.

Right at this instant my computer is running from the live DVD. This may
affect the Apport data that accompanies this bug report.

This problem has now occurred twice on Ubuntu 12.10 and caused the
situation where I am not able to boot up the computer. I get an error
message along the lines of 'Your computer (is being run, or something)
in low-graphics mode, etc. I have tried all the options but they don't
seem to do anything.

I think that the first time (that I remember that) it occurred was after
I had upgraded from Ubuntu 12.04 to Ubuntu 12.10 several weeks ago.

[Bug 1053195] Re: No disk space remaining, and baobab also reporting incorrectly

2012-09-21 Thread el_gallo_azul
** Description changed:

I discovered the baobab error after the other error started.

I report this on a netbook, since my desktop computer is unusable right
now due to constant 'full disk' stuff.

I don't know why the hard disk is seemingly full. Until yesterday, it
was much less than 50% full, and I have not saved any files to it.

Several times when I have received the error message about disk space, I
  have chosen 'Examine...'.

I then get the Disk Usage Analyser screen. I can't remember what the
  default view was.

In any case, if I select 'Analyser' -- 'Scan Filesystem' it doesn't
come up with anything useful. I wish I could send a screenshot.

  I can see the following:
  1. Total filesystem capacity: 77.7 GB

+ 2. (used: 77.6 GB available : 146.7 MB)

Where is the other 68.4 GB of stuff hiding?

[Bug 1030207] [NEW] Rhythmbox stops playing near the end of an MP3 track

2012-07-27 Thread el_gallo_azul
Public bug reported:

This has happened a number of times over the last few months. I never
thought to check the file format previously. I think it's worth
reporting a bug now.

My music was playing (shuffled) alright for a few hours. It then went
quiet when a song had (just about?) finished.

The song is from an MP3 file. It reached 3:02 of 3:04, and then stopped.
I have tried to start a different track, without success. All the
Rhythmbox control seem OK, but there is no progress on the time bar and
there is no sound coming out.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System
- About Ubuntu

Ubuntu 12.04

2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

rhythmbox 2.96-0ubuntu4.1

3) What you expected to happen

Music to keep playing (shuffled, if it makes any difference)

4) What happened instead

It pplayed for a few hours and then stopped playing (froze near the end
of a song)
