Can you provide the corresponding log file?
I suspect that the scp failed. Do you allow root login with password on your

No problem, we were all once.

Run hosted-engine --set-maintenance -mode=none

After a couple of minutes you should get mail about engine events.

Just curious. What specs sre your host (s) and engine vm?

After solving its problems (see

Thanks.
BTW: what is the meaning of "score" field, passing from 3400 to 0 whn I put
host to maintenance?
Is the score related to priority to run engine VM among hosts (in my case
only one)?

WHat do you mean by "the engine even manages to speak to the host"?
After both updated to 3.6.1 I was indeed able to power on 2 machines
defined in the DC and connect to their consoles, so I think there is
communication...
Or do you mean particular communication in terms of what upadates are in
place? What kind of check makes the engine when it shows "update available"
fr the host?

CCing Allon M

This seems as a bug

disk_lun_map FK is created without ON DELETE/UPDATE CASCADE
This makes the FK failing in deleting from the luns table (by calling
DeleteLun) while the deleted lun in the parent table has references in
disk_lun_map

Allon, please advice

Looks like you need to install either libguestfs-winsupport (assuming
the host is RHEL/CentOS), because this is required to process any

libguestfs-winsupport can be found here for RHEL < 7.2:

If you check the "Disks" tab, you'll see there an ID tab.

For nfs/qcow, that's a directory name to be found under 'images'
inside the storage domain. Under this directory you'll find several
files (data, metadata and lease) per each snapshot of this disk.
Not sure any of this is documented and/or intended for direct
manipulation.

My guess is that this is a consequence of your networking problems.

Currently I'm trying to migrate a Win7 VM (with VirtIO) with import_to_ovirt
bzt I receive the following error message:
./import-to-ovirt.pl: no operating system was found on the disk

The error means libguestfs doesn't think there is anything on your
source disk (disk.img), eg it is blank or there is no detectable
operating system on it.

Do:

   export LIBGUESTFS_DEBUG=1
   export LIBGUESTFS_TRACE=1
   ./import-to-ovirt.pl []

and capture the full output. From that output it is possible to work
out why inspection of the source disk failed.

Yes.

You might want to have a look at [1], especially page 15. I can only find
a link to it at [2], perhaps we should link elsewhere too (e.g. howto page).

[ovirt-users] Import KVM/libvirt VMs to oVirt

2015-12-20 Thread ovirt

Hi list,

finally I managed to install oVirt on my new server and so far it is
really great.

The next step on my side it to migrate VMs from another server
(KVM/libvirtd/virt-manager) to oVirt.

I was trying to find something in the documentation but so far no luck.

Google was pointing me to tow options:

- virt-v2v
- import-to-ovirt.pl (script from Richard WM Jones)

Currently I'm trying to migrate a Win7 VM (with VirtIO) with
import_to_ovirt bzt I receive the following error message:

./import-to-ovirt.pl: no operating system was found on the disk

I'm executing the following command:
./import-to-ovirt.pl /path-to-image-file/disk.img hostname:/export-domain

Is anyone able to support me here?
As both systems are running KVM there should be a quite easy way to
migrate the VMs or not?

Best regards
Christoph

Adding Richard.

IIRC people managed to do that by merely creating a new vm and copying the
existing one over the new empty disk. No idea about details, you might want
to search the list archives.

It must have already been attached, because otherwise the engine vm would
not be up. So it might be some inconsistency between the engine and host.

Hi,

thank you for the quick response.

Yes I can confirm that I'm also able to perform this through copying of
the image but then you need to know the exact file name of the disk you
need to overwrite.

Is there a way to see the file name also in the oVirt admin portal?

Best regards
Christoph

As both systems are running KVM there should be a quite easy way to migrate
the VMs or not?

Adding Richard.

IIRC people managed to do that by merely creating a new vm and copying the
existing one over the new empty disk. No idea about details, you might want
to search the list archives.

[ovirt-users] Migrating (or Deploying) Hosted Engine to second host from AMD -> Intel

2015-12-20 Thread Josh
Hi,

I am currently running a Ovirt 3.6 host + Hosted Engine (both Centos 7) on
an AMD based computer (AMD_HOST). I recently purchased a second server
which is running an Intel processor and want to move all the VM's + Hosted
Engine to this second server (INTEL_HOST). I was wondering what the proper
procedure to do this would be. I have attempted a few things but nothing is
successfully working. I have added and activated the INTEL_HOST through the
Hosted Engine UI but since the AMD_HOST is AMD based and the second is
Intel based I had to create a separate cluster (INTEL_CLUSTER). I can move
all VM's to this new cluster but have not figured out how to get a Hosted
Engine working on INTEL_HOST.

Attempting to force migration of the Hosted Engine to INTEL_CLUSTER fails
with the following:
Cannot migrate VM. There is no host that satisfies current scheduling
constraints. See below for details:
The host INTEL_HOST did not satisfy internal filter HA because it is not a
Hosted Engine host..

Attempting to deploy a second hosted engine also runs into errors
(hosted-engine --deploy). After downloading the answers.conf file from
AMD_HOST, setup fails because of a different process type/family. I
manually downloaded the answers.conf file and changed the processor type
but setup validation fails because the path to the hosted engine metadata
does not exist.

hosted-engine --deploy --config-append=answers.conf
...
[ ERROR ] Failed to execute stage 'Setup validation': failed to read
metadata: [Errno 2] No such file or directory:
'/rhev/data-center/mnt///ha_agent/hosted-engine.metadata'
[ INFO ] Stage: Clean up

This metadata file points to /var/run/vdsm/storage// but the he_uuid folder does not exist. I suspect this path
doesn't exist because the storage domain is mapped for AMD_CLUSTER's hosted
engine and cannot be referenced by another cluster. vdsClient does list the
storage domain info though on the INTEL_HOST.

vdsClient -s 0 getStorageDomainInfo
uuid =
version = 3
role = Regular
remotePath =
type = NFS
class = Data
pool = []
name = hosted_storage

The next steps I was going to take was to backup the hosted engine, setting
up INTEL_HOST, and restoring the backed up hosted engine but I'm not sure
if this will work since it will be restored on a different host. The next
option was to just export all VM's, setup INTEL_HOST and a new hosted
engine from scratch, and import all VM's, though I would prefer not to have
to do this.

Does anyone have any recommendations on how to make this move? I would
simply like to move my Ovirt installation onto the INTEL_HOST. I thought I
would be able to add the second host, migrate all data over, and remove the
first host, but this procedure is getting hung up on dealing with the
hosted engine.

Thanks,
Josh

Re: [ovirt-users] [UPDATE] oVirt update process

2015-12-20 Thread Oved Ourfali
In order to upgrade a cluster you need to press right click and upgrade for
each host in the cluster.
Note that this option exists only if there is indeed actually an upgrade
available for the host. Also note that it will love migrate all running VMs
to another host before doing the upgrade.

You can of course automate that through scripting using the API, CLI or
SDK.

Hey,

I have updates ready for my oVirt cluster. 3.6.1.3 from 3.6.0.1

What is the process for updating a cluster? I've looked in the admin

A step by step guide would be nice.

Network problems was solved after changing Bond mode  (and it's strange. I have

problem still exist.  If I turn on the host, ha agent start engine vm. When
engine VM is up, broker strats to send email.  Now I haven't here detailed logs.

Right, sorry, that's a bug in import-to-ovirt. I've just pushed

Because my storage is iSCSI and I need the VLAN configuration in place
for the Host to access it on behalf of the HE. Otherwise, yes I agree
it would be easier to let the hosted-engine script deal with the set
up. I've done a workable setup before letting the script do everything,
but the mode 4 bonding only gave me half the possible performance
because in effect one NIC on the NAS did all the transmitting while the
other NIC did all the receiving. So I really need all of the storage
network setup in place prior to starting the HE deployment.

It seems like it should be trivial to convince the engine that the two
netmasks are indeed equivalent. I tried changing in
/var/lib/vdsm/persistence/netconf/nets/ovirtmgmt the '"prefix": "24"'
setting to '"netmask": "255.255.255.0"' and running
/usr/share/vdsm/vdsm-restore-net-config but that didn't seem to change
anything WRT the network being out of sync.

Re: [ovirt-users] Cannot retrieve answer file from 1st HE host when setting up 2nd host

2015-12-20 Thread Will Dennis
FYI, the answer file is located at:
/var/lib/ovirt-hosted-engine-setup/answers/answers-20151218124259.conf

There are many other answer files in that directory as well from prior
unsuccessful runs… Does that matter?

to execute stage 'Environment customization': [Errno 2] No such file”

Screen output of the “hosted-engine —setup” run:
http://ur1.ca/ocr5u

So, I guess that means it can’t find the answer file where it expects it on the
first host… What do I do now?

OK, after all the t’shooting I could think to do, out of desperation I put the
engine VM in maint mode, then rebooted the host. When it came up, I can now SSH
into it normally (no long delay now.) I saw two state email changes come in
after the reboot:

- StartState-ReinitializeFSM
- ReinitializeFSM-LocalMaintenance

But the engine VM never started… Do I have to do something at the host (issue a
command) to get the engine VM to start? (Sorry if I’m ignorant, an oVirt noob
here…)
