RE: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

2016-01-17 Thread Alan Lemly
Krister,

Thanks for your kind words and your additional instruction. I especially
appreciate your comments about the extensions because now I understand how
to remove the ones that have been installed. It seems that the first line
that appears when you execute the Extensions button shows those that are
installed which I'm thinking may be limited to four because there is only
room for four extension icons on this top row. Only clicks are heard as you
swipe through these and nothing happens if you double tap on any of these
first row icons if none are installed. However, if any are installed, they
are presented in this top row but without any VoiceOver identification. If
you double tap on an installed extension icon in this top row, another small
box in the center of the screen will open identifying the extension and
provide an identified remove button to remove it. I noticed that the first
icon in this top row always seems to say GIFs whether that extension is
installed or not. It seems as if it might be dimmed on mine as I have no
extensions installed and nothing happens when I double tap on it.

I will update the tutorial to reflect this additional info about the
extensions as well as your other comments on emojis and languages. I'll not
rush this since I'm hoping other suggestions might be forthcoming and I'd
like to get as many edits in as possible before reposting the tutorial.

I do have one question for you. The original Fleksy included an apostrophe s
in the punctuation choices to make it easy to enter possessive punctuation.
The Fleksy Keyboard doesn't do this and I'm wondering if you have a
suggestion on how to make entering an apostrophe followed by an s easier. I
guess I can always simply fetch the apostrophe from the numbers keyboard and
then jump back to the letters as I have to do with the standard iOS keyboard
but I'd welcome a shortcut since I use this fairly often.

Thanks again for your comments.

Alan

Hi,

This is a very good tutorial indeed. Please allow me to try to add some
things that i've discovered:

1 to uninstall an extension you have to click on the area at the top of the
screen where there are just clicks to be heard from VO, then look at the
text that appears below that describes the extension. If you have chosen the
right extension, swipe to the button that says "remove" and press it. This
removes your extension.

Unfortunately right now this is rather a hit or miss scenario but it works.

2 when opening the emoji keyboard for the first time, there's a dialog
explaining that you can change colors of the emoji. This dialog has to be
removed before you can do things with your emoji keyboard. You remove this
dialog by looking for an "ok" button which you double tap.

3, on the "more" screen there's a button called "languages" as was mentioned
in the tutorial. This button or link pops up a dialog that lets you choose
additional languages to download. I for example have Swedish and English as
my languages.

At the top of the dialog is a list of the language(s) you already have
installed and the one you're currently using is highlighted. Below is a list
of additional languages you can download. Double click on the name of the
language you want and a progress meter will appear showing how many percent
of the language has been downloaded. When the download is complete, the
language disappears from the list of downloadable languages and appears at
the top of the dialog among the languages that are downloaded. Here you can
choose whether you want to use that language by double clicking it, the
language then becomes highlighted and is ready for use. Tip: if you have the
full sized keyboard, the one with the spacebar on it, you can do a quick
swipe left on the spacebar and the language will change on the fly. This
change will stick until next time you swipe quickly on the space bar to
switch languages.

Lastly, remember patience, patience, patience, there's a learning curve
involved with this app, so take your time learning it and don't give up if
it doesn't work for you the first time.

/Krister

Apple TV remote.

2016-01-17 Thread Shane Clark
Hello everyone,
I apologize if this is a little off topic, so if you wanna email me off
list that's cool. My device of choice on a daily basis is a Galaxy S6,
however, when watching content on my Apple TV, using the remote can be
somewhat tedious while typing when searching. Is there an app that will
allow me to type/voice dictate what I want, similar to the iPad remote app?
Thanks, Shane.

Re: voice Dream Reader Voices. Which one is the best?

2016-01-17 Thread Richard Turner

No, the voices you buy in Voice Dream Reader can only be used with Voice Dream
products, meaning Voice Dream Reader and Voice Dream Writer.
Some of the voices are available from their manufacturers for the PC or Mac,
but they won't help you with anything on the iDevices.
The price that Winston charges is minimal. For example, the NeoSpeech voices
that cost $2.99 to use with Voice Dream, are going to be ten times that on a PC.

Subject: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

Hello Listers,

Recently, several posts have been made to the viphone list requesting a
tutorial on using the Fleksy Keyboard. This is the third party keyboard from
the developers of the original Fleksy app later named Fleksy VO that many of
us have used. I am providing such a tutorial with this post and am cross
posting this message to both the viphone and iDevices lists. The tutorial is
in a marked up html file with various headings and bullet points and can be
downloaded here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubtto7ggk95vmjc/Fleksy%20Keyboard%20tutorial.html?
dl=0

I will also paste the text of the tutorial following my signature but since
many of you read your email in plain text as opposed to html, the markup and
formatting will be lost. Those downloading the file and wanting to read it
with your iDevices should place it in a Dropbox folder so you can access it
with Dropbox. I've opened the file using my Dropbox app on my iPhone and
placing the rotor on headings allows easy navigation among the parts of the
tutorial.

I would welcome any corrections or suggestions to this tutorial because I
consider it a work in progress. The original Fleksy and now the Fleksy
Keyboard has greatly improved the speed and accuracy of input I create on my
iPhone and I hope this tutorial will help others as they master it.

Alan Lemly

Introduction

. This tutorial was written 1/16/16 for Fleksy Keyboard version
7.5.0 on an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. Version 7.5.0 was the latest version
of Fleksy Keyboard as of this writing.

. According to the September, 2013 podcast on AppleVis, the original
Fleksy was introduced in July of 2012. Due to Apple restrictions on third
party keyboards at this time, the app ran separately and the content
produced with it had to be copied and pasted to where it could be used such
as in the messaging or mail apps. This original Fleksy app was later named
Fleksy VO as the developers began moving toward a separate Fleksy keyboard
in anticipation of Apple allowing third party keyboards. Fleksy VO was later
removed from the Apps Store and Fleksy Keyboard is the only Fleksy app now
available. Apple allowed third party keyboards beginning with iOS 8 in
September of 2014.

Setting Up the First Time

1. Launch the Fleksy Keyboard app.

2. On first launch, you'll be presented with an install Fleksy screen
with a note at the bottom reminding you to turn on full access so that
Fleksy can fetch your settings and gifs. There is a learn more link after
this note that will take you to a web page in Safari that will fully explain
full access. Below this message is an Install button which you should
execute.

3. You can get to the settings to allow Fleksy full access through
Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards and selecting Fleksy. Executing the
install button in the previous step will take you to this settings screen
where you can add the Fleksy keyboard.

4. Double tap the add new keyboard button.

5. Under the heading Third Party Keyboards, find Fleksy and double tap
on it.

6. You will be taken back to your list of keyboards which now includes
Fleksy which you should double tap.

7. You will be taken to a screen which states Allow full access with an
on/off button which you should make sure is on.

8. Go to Settings and locate Fleksy in the list of all installed apps
which for the most part are sorted alphabetically. Double tap it and you can
turn buttons on to allow Fleksy to access your contacts and to use cellular
data. I have both of these turned on. Below these buttons is additional
information about installing Fleksy and its settings.

The topline menu buttons when you open the Fleksy keyboard app are Themes,
Extensions, GIFs and stickers, and More.

Themes

. Most of the in-app charges are found here.

. You can select from a variety of visual themes from choices like
Festive winter pack, Community limited edition, SHARDS pack, Arcade pack,
Pastel pack, Frozen pack, etc.

. Most themes have a cost but a couple are free. Note that there
appear to be graphic elements below each of these packs but swiping through
them produces only a click sound with no further voiceover

RE: Fleksy and a podcast or chat about how to use

2016-01-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I think when it comes to things like typing whether on the regular virtual
keyboard or Fleksie and taking pictures whether for a photo or inside an app
like Camfind, KNFB Reader, Tap Tap See etc. results vary greatly. Krister, for
example, stated several times that he can't take a good picture if his life
depended on it yet he is proficient with Fleksie which many others have
problems with.
This just goes to show that we all have different skills, talents and some are
good at something without trying hard and others just can't do it. I tried
Fleksie again after reading Krister's message and while I was able to type some
stuff, I don't have the patience to spend a lot of time with it to see if I can
get really good at it. Just as others I had a heck of a time to get back to the
regular keyboard and I followed Krister's advice about making sure voice
guidance was on, key clicks was on, I initially made the keyboard large, but
think that actually made it harder for me etc. One thing I seemed to have a
hard time finding was that button to switch keyboards, on the regular Apple
keyboard it is easy to find right to the left of the spacebar but unless you
turn spacebar on the Fleksie keyboard has no spacebar since you swipe to insert
a space. I was also a bit confused by all these themes and stuff. I'd really
love it if Krister would take the time to produce a Podcast going over this
from start to finish, e.g. how to first configure Fleksy and then to be
inspired by what is possible I'd like to hear him type out a longer piece of
text in an app like Notes just to see what is possible. How about it mein
Freund!

Sieghard

No need for you to be flamed, but you sound as though you are flaming others
yourself. No one is saying they can't learn Fleksy, they just need guidance.
We all learn in different ways and different paces. Keep this in mind because,
blind or not, there will come something that you will have difficulty with and
need others help. As for me, I'll be glad to give it to you.

I am using the regular fleksy third party keyboard with no problems whatsoever,
I repeat no problems whatsoever and i am totally blind and am using Voiceover.
In fact i have stopped using the stock keyboard and am using Fleksy exclusively.
As you can see, and i’ll probably get flamed for this, Fleksy is not
inaccessible. There’s a learning curve involved, as with all other apps, and if
one is willing to learn then the experience is rewarding.

   hi list.

I am in the UK, and an iphone user. For the second time today, I have recieved
a text message that strikes me as possible spam or
worse. The message just has a phone number and says something like, you have
missed 1 message from apple, with a link that just
seems to be a series of numbers and another link that says unsubscribe. I have
not subscribed to anything. I called apple, who
stated they do not use text messages to contact their customers.

Does anyone have any idea what this is\? I have not and will not click on any

Does anyone know if this is spam\?
Many thanks

FB questions, iPhone screen sluggishness, CNN app, and making custom voice over gestures

2016-01-17 Thread Regina Alvarado
Four questions. No, five. Any help on any of these is deeply appreciated.

1. Lately there is a lag between when I touch the screen and the action I wish
to do. Today for example the screen just stops and freezes for about 1 or 2
seconds before giving me the action. Yesterday it was snappy. This seems to be
intermittent. Trying to write on M'Braille ''now and I can write whole words
but then some will give me feedback of each letter which is how it is set. This
is not just an mBraille issue, however. As I said, the screen is lagging.

2. Two FB questions. When two people share something it will say name and name
shared such and such. When you double ,tap on it to open the post to read as
shared, it will not open. This also happens with name likes this. How can i
open these? Also, is there a way to actually copy a post? Not the link, but the
actual post.

3. Does anyone have the CNN app? When going to read a story, it reads the title
and author and then says CNN. At that point it will stop reading with no story
there to find with speech. It will work on ipad fine.

4. For someone who has problems with their fingers, can a separate gesture be
manually made different from the 3 or 4 finger taps or any other iPhone voice
over gesture?

Again, thanks for any help with any of this. (smiles)

Hi Harry,

As a novice with any type of assistive technology myself, I have found the
clear and concise detailed instructions from the Voiceover Easy Net website
a big help in learning basic skills with voiceover.

Here is the link to Lesson 3 which is titled "Editing Text":

If you have two devices or a pc and an apple device, it helps to pull up
this lesson on one device and practice on the other.
Hope this helps.

RE: Music in iCloud Drive

2016-01-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I know you can play music in Dropbox and if you search for “Dropbox music apps
on iTunes” you get a bunch of results. One of them is “Cloudplayer” which can
access music you store in Dropbox and I remember having seen it discussed here
a time or two. I can’t speak to its accessibility, but maybe somebody else is
using it.

On another note, do you have a PC with iTunes? It really is not that difficult
to import a bunch of MP3 files into iTunes and to then sync them to your phone.

At the bottom of the home screen on the voice dream app are four buttons.
If you press the first button, a screen pops up and at the end of the short
list is Bookshare books. Select this option and it brings up a search box
where you type in the title or the author of the book. The next step is to
download the Bookshare book.

Before doing this, you should go to the fourth button on the bottom of the
home screen. This is where you go to enter in your Bookshare account
information. Once this information has been entered, you are then linked to
your Bookshare account and you can find books by going to the first button
at the bottom of the home screen as I mentioned above.

I am not aware of a sleep timer on the Voice a Dream app. You could email
support for this app and inquire if there is such an option.

Occasionally voice dream reader has been on sale. I do not remember exactly
when I purchased this app, but I do recall that it was on sale at the time.

But, speech synthesizers are really subjective. Some people prefer Paul or even

Re: pairing apple watch.

2016-01-17 Thread Chris Chaffin
I thought the reset button in the general settings would get it to the setup
mode, but you said that did not work, so I would either take it to an Apple
Store if you can, or call Apple Accessibility for help.
I think this would give you the quickest fix.

Double tap reset. I think this will allow you to totally reset your watch
 back to factory settings.
And so when you set up your watch again, you can pair it with your new
 phone.

Good luck and hope this helps!

RE: iOS 9.3 welcomes all-new 3D Touch shortcuts

2016-01-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Dave,

I think Monica must be mixing this up with something else because 3D Touch and
any settings related to it are only available on the 6S and 6S Plus.
3D Touch is a hardware feature and therefore it is and never can be available
on anything prior to these phones.

Regards,
Sieghard

You know, it would be nice if this were available for the 5S. It has it in the
settings menu but doesn't work unless you have a 6.

RE: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

2016-01-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi Alan,

Thanks, I encouraged Krister to make a Podcast, but I’ll definitely take a look
at your tutorial.

Subject: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

Hello Listers,

Recently, several posts have been made to the viphone list requesting a
tutorial on using the Fleksy Keyboard. This is the third party keyboard from
the developers of the original Fleksy app later named Fleksy VO that many of us
have used. I am providing such a tutorial with this post and am cross posting
this message to both the viphone and iDevices lists. The tutorial is in a
marked up html file with various headings and bullet points and can be
downloaded here:

https://www.dropbox.com/s/ubtto7ggk95vmjc/Fleksy%20Keyboard%20tutorial.html?dl=0

I will also paste the text of the tutorial following my signature but since
many of you read your email in plain text as opposed to html, the markup and
formatting will be lost. Those downloading the file and wanting to read it with
your iDevices should place it in a Dropbox folder so you can access it with
Dropbox. I've opened the file using my Dropbox app on my iPhone and placing the
rotor on headings allows easy navigation among the parts of the tutorial.

I would welcome any corrections or suggestions to this tutorial because I
consider it a work in progress. The original Fleksy and now the Fleksy Keyboard
has greatly improved the speed and accuracy of input I create on my iPhone and
I hope this tutorial will help others as they master it.

Alan Lemly

Introduction

* This tutorial was written 1/16/16 for Fleksy Keyboard version 7.5.0
on an iPhone 6 running iOS 8.3. Version 7.5.0 was the latest version of Fleksy
Keyboard as of this writing.

* According to the September, 2013 podcast on AppleVis, the original
Fleksy was introduced in July of 2012. Due to Apple restrictions on third party
keyboards at this time, the app ran separately and the content produced with it
had to be copied and pasted to where it could be used such as in the messaging
or mail apps. This original Fleksy app was later named Fleksy VO as the
developers began moving toward a separate Fleksy keyboard in anticipation of
Apple allowing third party keyboards. Fleksy VO was later removed from the Apps
Store and Fleksy Keyboard is the only Fleksy app now available. Apple allowed
third party keyboards beginning with iOS 8 in September of 2014.

Setting Up the First Time

1. Launch the Fleksy Keyboard app.

2. On first launch, you'll be presented with an install Fleksy screen with
a note at the bottom reminding you to turn on full access so that Fleksy can
fetch your settings and gifs. There is a learn more link after this note that
will take you to a web page in Safari that will fully explain full access.
Below this message is an Install button which you should execute.

3. You can get to the settings to allow Fleksy full access through
Settings, General, Keyboard, Keyboards and selecting Fleksy. Executing the
install button in the previous step will take you to this settings screen where
you can add the Fleksy keyboard.

4. Double tap the add new keyboard button.

5. Under the heading Third Party Keyboards, find Fleksy and double tap on
it.

Themes

* Most of the in-app charges are found here.

* You can select from a variety of visual themes from choices like
Festive winter pack, Community limited edition, SHARDS pack, Arcade pack,
Pastel pack, Frozen pack, etc.

* Most themes have a cost but a couple are free. Note that there appear
to be graphic elements below each of these packs but swiping through them
produces only a click sound with no further voiceover feedback.

* A Classic pack for $.99 was the only one which sounded viable to me.

* I've chosen to ignore themes since they are visual in nature.

Extensions. The second from the left topline menu button.

* A single finger swipe right repeatedly after executing the Extensions
button, will

RE: Question/Playing Mp3 Files with OneDrive for iOS/Is It Even Possible?

2016-01-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

Doing a Google search for "Music apps for OneDrive on iTunes" resulted in a
number of results, I have listed 4 of them below which seem to be popular
choices. As before, I can't speak to the accessibility of these apps, but since
all of them are either free or at least have a free version as well as a paid
version, there is no harm in trying them out:

Cloudplayer - I mentioned it before in connection to Dropbox, but it can also
play from OneDrive, Google?Drive etc. The full description is:
Cloud Player - Music Player & Downloader For Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive,
Box and iPod Library on the App Store
There is a free version and a Pro version mentioned as an in-app purchase for
$4.59 in Canada, not sure what it will do over the free version:
https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/cloud-player-music-player/id935560907?mt=8

Cloudplayer Pro: $4.99 in Canada - this is a different app from the one above,
developer is not the same. The full description reads:
CloudPlayer Pro - music player of audio files from cloud storages on the App
Store
https://itunes.apple.com/ca/app/cloudplayer-pro-music-player/id920451678?mt=8

CloudBeats - another option with a free version and a Pro version via in-app
purchase which says "Unlimited music downloads & playlists from dropbox,
OneDrive, google drive$4.59".
The full title is: CloudBeats - Free Mp3 Music Player & Downloader For Cloud
Platforms on the App Store.
It mentions in the app description that it can also play M4A, WAV and FLAC
files and it specifically mentions you can play music from a personal cloud
like a network attached harddrive which is connected to the internet.

I use Dropbox for iOS quite a lot and it is very easy to use the app to listen
to mp3 files you have stored on your Dropbox. Since I have an Office 365
account which gives me 1 terrabyte of space, I wanted to place a bunch of mp3
files on Onedrive, since it offers more space than I currently have with my
free Dropbox account. However, unlike Dropbox I can't seem to play mp3 files
using OneDrive. Is there a way to do it?

Good luck.

Hi Group,

I just downloaded Voice Dream Reader and was just wondering what voices that
everyone like the best. I know some will like different voices. I like a man
voice as I hear low tones the best. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

It does not appear to be a male Scottish voice, only Rhona (Scottish), which is

Re: voice Dream Reader Voices. Which one is the best?

2016-01-17 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
If you like your iOS every day voice, use it for VDR. Other voices
are from $0.99 to $3.99 and it's a bit expensive to try them all.
You can test voices in the Voice store with some predefined text and
you can also type or paste your own text for trying. However, it
takes more than few sentences to decide which voice suits you the
best.

bo flex app

2016-01-17 Thread Jeremy Gilley
Hello,

I was thinking of purchasing a bo-flex treadClimber.

It states that it comes with it's own app for IOS.

I was wondering if anyone has used any of their apps and if they were
accessible with voice over?

Any tips/help/suggestions would be much appreciated.

Re: App Refunds

2016-01-17 Thread Richard Turner

Did you get an Emailed receipt from your in-app purchase?
If so, there should be a link in there to report a problem and you can request
a refund.
If that doesn't work, call Apple Accessibility and explain the problems you are
having with iTunes and JAWS. I've had very good experiences doing that and
once, when also trying to get a refund, they took care of it for me since the
process wasn't accessible.

Re: Music in iCloud Drive

2016-01-17 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi!
Yes, I have, typing from it right now but
My iPhone has only 16 gb and with system and apps you can guess how
much storage I have left xD.
On the other hand, Ihave about terabyte of music on my external
drive and I'd like to have it everywhere I go. OK, OK, not listening
everything from there on daily basis but also never know in what
mood I'll be tomorrow.
I researched some streaming services and the only one available in
my country is Deezer which is a way far from accessible. iOS app is
a mess and although I can do some work with it it's really hard to
navigate and you have to guess what are the labels for certain
buttons and options. The web interface for Mac or PC is full of
unlabeled buttons and I had to remember the exact order to operate
the playback. I tried three browsers with two screen readers and
it's a pain.
And, last but not least, I'd have to pay Deezer 7 euros per month
and I already have a 1 tb of OneDrive storage. I thought I could use
iCloud Drive for easier listening through native app but since it's
a no go I'd rather try with something else capable of streaming from
cloud services. Today I discovered such an app but you probably read
it by now. So, after some thinking I concluded I'd rather upload my
existing mp3s to the cloud than paying some quite unusable service.
I still can use Deezer to flow and ix and discover new artists but
for intended listening cloud player is a way better solution from my
point of view.
Some day in the future when Apple Music will be available in my
country I'd certainly go for that but 'till then...

One of them is “Cloudplayer” which can access music you

On

Hi, Reggie!
1. Clear the phone buffers and cache by pressing the Sleep button
til you get the Turn Off screen, release the Sleep button and press
and hold the Home button till it gets back to the Home screen.
2. Double tap and hold for opening mixed statuses and things like
that in FB app. It helps me with entries such as "John Smith posted
three updates" or "Jane Smith and John Smith are
sharing/liking/comment he...".
3. Not using CNN.

Four questions. No, five. Any help on any of these is deeply
appreciated.

1. Lately there is a lag between when I touch the screen and the
action I wish to do. Today for example the screen just stops and
freezes for about 1 or 2 seconds before giving me the action.
Yesterday it was snappy. This seems to be intermittent. Trying
to write on M'Braille ''now and I can write whole words but then
some will give me feedback of each letter which is how it is
set. This is not just an mBraille issue, however. As I said, the
screen is lagging.

2. Two FB questions. When two people share something it will say
name and name shared such and such. When you double ,tap on it
to open the post to read as shared, it will not open. This also
happens with name likes this. How can i open these? Also, is
there a way to actually copy a post? Not the link, but the
actual post.

3. Does anyone have the CNN app? When going to read a story, it
reads the title and author and then says CNN. At that point it
will stop reading with no story there to find with speech. It
will work on ipad fine.

4. For someone who has problems with their fingers, can a
separate gesture be manually made different from the 3 or 4
finger taps or any other iPhone voice over gesture?

Again, thanks for any help with any of this. (smiles)

British English.

But, speech synthesizers are really subjective. Some people prefer Paul or even
Ryan. Definitely try the samples.

Well, for now I cleared the sluggishness by doing a reset with the home button

Regina,
Version 9.2 is the currently available public version of iOS. 9.3 is being
tested but is not yet available for public download unless you want to install
it with the understanding that it's a beta or test release.

Re: Music in iCloud Drive

2016-01-17 Thread Candy Lowe
I use the cloudbeats player and store my music in dropbox. I love it. I find
the cloudbeats player rather accessible. You might just have to play with it
for a bit, but you can do everything with it using voice over.

Gordon, thank you so much. Will definitely try your FB suggestion. Problem with
assistive touch is I do not understand what each thing does. This is for a
friend of mine, and we tried to figure out what each thing does but no luck

App Refunds

2016-01-17 Thread Joe
Hi, I've been attempting to get an app refund via iTunes. I'm on a PC,
Windows 7, latest version of iTunes. I log into my account, click See All
under Purchase History, but the subsequent dropdown lists aren't accessible
with JAWS. All I can find is January 2011 on the dropdown lists, but I can't
figure out how to make it change the values. Has anyone using a similar
configuration on Windows found a workaround?

 hi list.

I am in the UK, and an iphone user. For the second time today, I have
recieved a text message that strikes me as possible spam or worse. The message
just has a phone number and says something like, you have missed 1 message from
apple, with a link that just seems to be a series of numbers and another link
that says unsubscribe. I have not subscribed to anything. I called apple, who
stated they do not use text messages to contact their customers.

Does anyone have any idea what this is\? I have not and will not click on any
links.
Does anyone know if this is spam\?
  Many thanks

  Dave.

Re: voice Dream Reader Voices. Which one is the best?

2016-01-17 Thread BBS
Voice Dream Reader has no Scottish English male voice, but reading your message
I was thinking. Seeing as Ivona's going away this Christmas, I was thinking of
suggesting to Winston that he should add the Cereproc voices to his range of
voices. There is a Scotish English male voice there, Stewart, and for people
that like Ivona Amy, their Sarah voice sounds exactly like her but with more
inflection. What do you guys think? If you want to sample any of Cereproc's
voices to decide for yourselves, you can listen to them at www.cereproc.com.

I just downloaded Voice Dream Reader and was just wondering what voices that
everyone like the best. I know some will like different voices. I like a man
voice as I hear low tones the best. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

In VoiceDream Reader, double tap settings, then manage voices, then add voices,
and you will find all of them and their prices.
There are a lot.

Voice Dream Reader has no Scottish English male voice, but reading your
message I was thinking. Seeing as Ivona's going away this Christmas, I was
thinking of suggesting to Winston that he should add the Cereproc voices to his
range of voices. There is a Scotish English male voice there, Stewart, and for
people that like Ivona Amy, their Sarah voice sounds exactly like her but with
more inflection. What do you guys think? If you want to sample any of
Cereproc's voices to decide for yourselves, you can listen to them at

Yes. You can buy them for both PC and Mac. They're close to $45 though. If you
own a Mac though, I wouldn't buy them because they don't work at all in El
Capitan. If you want more information, write me off list.

Please can someone remind me how I go about clearing my documents and data from the storage options in settings on my IPhone?

2016-01-17 Thread 'Eleanor Roberts' via VIPhone
Hi all

I am currently trying to clear some space on my IPhone. Obviously, one of the
things I know to do is to manage things through the "manage storage" option in
settings. However, I've had a complete blank and can't remember how to clear
the documents and data from the various apps I've got. I've got no trouble
finding the button that says "delete app", but that isn't really what I want to
do - I just want to get rid of the rubbish which has built up in documents and
data. So if anyone could send me some step-by-step instructions on how to do
this would be most grateful. Or, do I actually have to delete the app in its
entirety and then re-download it?

Thanks.

Re: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

2016-01-17 Thread Krister Ekstrom
Hi,
This is a very good tutorial indeed. Please allow me to try to add some things
that i’ve discovered:
1 to uninstall an extension you have to click on the area at the top of the
screen where there are just clicks to be heard from VO, then look at the text
that appears below that describes the extension. If you have chosen the right
extension, swipe to the button that says ”remove” and press it. This removes
your extension.
Unfortunately right now this is rather a hit or miss scenario but it works.

2 when opening the emoji keyboard for the first time, there’s a dialog
explaining that you can change colors of the emoji. This dialog has to be
removed before you can do things with your emoji keyboard. You remove this
dialog by looking for an ”ok” button which you double tap.
3, on the ”more” screen there’s a button called ”languages” as was mentioned in
the tutorial. This button or link pops up a dialog that lets you choose
additional languages to download. I for example have Swedish and English as my
languages.
At the top of the dialog is a list of the language(s) you already have
installed and the one you’re currently using is highlighted. Below is a list of
additional languages you can download. Double click on the name of the
language you want and a progress meter will appear showing how many percent of
the language has been downloaded. When the download is complete, the language
disappears from the list of downloadable languages and appears at the top of
the dialog among the languages that are downloaded. Here you can choose whether
you want to use that language by double clicking it, the language then becomes
highlighted and is ready for use. Tip: if you have the full sized keyboard, the
one with the spacebar on it, you can do a quick swipe left on the spacebar and
the language will change on the fly. This change will stick until next time you
swipe quickly on the space bar to switch languages.
Lastly, remember patience, patience, patience, there’s a learning curve
involved with this app, so take your time learning it and don’t give up if it
doesn’t work for you the first time.
/Krister

Re: A Fleksy Keyboard Tutorial

2016-01-17 Thread Alvin
I have changed the magic button to global bog it doesn't show up on the
keyboard. There is a need for me to switch to the native Chinese keyboard. Any
advise?

On 17 Jan 2016, at 5:10 PM, Krister Ekstrom wrote:

Hi,
This is a very good tutorial indeed.

There is no sleep timer as of yet. For y'all who really want one, write to
the developer and request it. Perhaps he hasn't thought of it.

Re: AIPoly VS CamFind

2016-01-17 Thread Richard Turner

Hi, Flash and torch are the same thing. They are the ca'mera's light and many
apps, including CamFind have three options, off, so the light is never used so
you depend on room or outdoor lighting.
On, so it is on all the time, which is the current setting with AIPoly.
Auto, which lets the sensor in the camera decide if there is enough light to
get a good image.
In the United States, it is usually called flash. I first heard the term torch
used in England.

Richard

Re: CloudBeats Player, was: Music in iCloud Drive

2016-01-17 Thread Annie Skov Nielsen
Hi Gordan.

It is a great app. I have had it for a long time. My only problem is that it
will not update my file lists from dropbox automatically, I can not really
figure that out. But it is a really great app.

Best regards Annie.

Re: CloudBeats Player, was: Music in iCloud Drive

2016-01-17 Thread Gordan Radić

Hi, Annie!
I believe that is due to bandwidth usage. If the app would
constantly update cloud services it would drain the battery and slow
the speed for other apps using the connection. You can manually
refresh the library by scanning the cloud folder while not using the
device.
And, maybe this could be due to individual cloud services access
limitation, I really wouldn't know.

I don't know why it doesn't support iCloud but maybe it will be

You can create a music library from multiple clouds and the player
supports standard playback features plus shuffle, repeat and repeat
one. Besides this it supports position remembering, speed changing
up to 2,5x and setting bookmarks for audio books.
There is also a "radio" mode where the app shuffles your songs with
crossfading from multiple sources.
You can store your favorite songs for offline use.
Accessibility is pretty much fair, all the controls and buttons are
correctly labeled but it has some minor navigation issues. It
doesn't support twofinger Z scrubb gesture for going backwards and
sometimes it wont focus the Library main window. For back gesture
there's no solution except hitting the apropriatte button in the
upper left corner and regarding focus in the Library it gets back
after switching some other items from the Navigation menu a few
times. If it doesn't get back, restarting of app is fixing the
issue.
I'm planning to write to developers about these issues because
besides this few glitches the app is more than excellent.
P.S. You're able to turn off mobile data usage and use it just with
WiFi.

Thanks for all of your suggestions.
This was a brand new phone and it’s a 128 GB iPhone 6. I restored it from a
backup and all worked flawlessly, but for the Voicedream issue.

I followed the suggestions and closed all open apps through the app switcher. I
manually rebooted the phone and now all seems to work fine with Voicedream.

Thanks again.

 Hi al.
So, I haven't yet paired my apple watch with my iPhone 6s. It was
never unpaired from my 5s and I no longer have that phone. I've tried
holding it up to the camera in the pairing screen on the phone... not
working. I've tried pairing manually, but the name does not show up
in the list of devices. I've restarted the watch... restarted the
phone. I'm erasing all content and data now. Any other suggestions?
 Thanks.
 Jen
