VoiceOver not reading everything

2017-03-15 Thread Jim Portillo
Hi there,
Heree's something interesting that's going on, and I wonder if you might have
solutions.
I'm using a TV app called Univision Now. In order to fully use it, I can
either register with an account and pay monthly or yearly, or I can use my TV
provider and not have to pay for it. I use Dish.
This app is cool and has some content I've been wanting to see, which is on
demand.
What ends up happening is that I go to where I choose the option that should
take me to the TV provider choices. I can get there OK, but after that,
nothing happens. It's almost as if those provider choices aren't there.
However, visually, they are there, and all one has to do is select the right
one and tap on it, which will then take you to a place to log in, in my case
with Dish.
I had a sighted friend do that for me, and it was working for about a day and a
half. Then, I was watching something, and the thing stopped and a message came
up letting me know I had to sign back into my TV provider.
Again, the choices came up visually but VoiceOver isn't reading them, and I
can't think of a way to get it to read them.
Is there a command to expand a screen or something? It's not a page.
What about refreshing?

I wrote Univision and let them know about the only non-accessible part of their
app, but of course, this is new to them and they aren't exactly sure what they
can do about it.
Well, I don't want someone sighted to have to help me every time I need to sign
back in.
Oh, and the thing is that now, if I choose Dish, I don't even need to type in
my user name or password. I basically just need to tap on that choice, and it
signs in for me again.
This is very inconvenient, and I wonder if there's something I can do here with
VoiceOver.
Thanks very much.
Jim

Hey Sieghard, I can also reproduce the issue. I don't know if it's because of

Re: seeking app or program

2017-03-15 Thread Richard Turner

KNFB Reader is the best. But, if $99.99 is out of reach, TextGrabber does a
good job for less than $10.
It just doesn't have all the features.
iDentifi can also get text, but involves several steps.

Hi there.

I've just listened to the podcast, which I note was done a little while
back now. This prompts a few questions and hope you don't mind giving a
little more information before I try the demo for myself.

First, did the seller ever take up any of your suggestions? If so, how do
they work out for you and, if not, did he give a reason why not?

Have you managed by now to get the wifi working? I would want to do that
also.

Finally, is the programme still being worked on regularly enough and what
else have you been able to do since your purchase and updates?

I hope you don't mind the questions. I will then download and take it for
a spin myself ...

(As my days are really busy, it looks as though I'll be on night shift to
try out this one if it's still only 24 hours ...)

Cheers and I look forwad to further discussion on this one.

Considering how many people dislike iTunes I am surprised this
application has not been praised as the reinvention of the wheel with
Podcasts about it and so on. Before I plunk down $40 (I assume that is US
Dollars) or $60 which is the offer if you want free lifetime upgrades I'd
really like to hear a Podcast done about it. I have tried too many of
these all with limitations or accessibility issues.

RE: Moving apps?

2017-03-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Rose probably referred to Jonathan Mosen's book "iOS 10 without the Eye".
Anyhow, as I just posted, if you are trying to use this method to rearrange
apps in the dock and if your dock has 4 apps in it the method won't work and
you have to double tap and hold and then drag like before.
This of course applies only if 10.2.1 behaves like the most current 10.3 beta.

What book are you talking about? How are you trying to move the apps? There
is a new way in recent versions of IOS. When you get to an app you want to
move, flick up with one finger until VoiceOver says Arrange Apps. Then
double-tap.
Flick up until you hear VoiceOver give you the option to move the app. Then
double-tap.
Move to where you want the app to be moved to. This can either be on the same
page or another page. Start flicking up with one finger. You will get options
to move the app either before or after the one you are currently on.
Double-tap on whatever you want to do.

Found a bug: Rearranging apps in the dock not possible with the new method, was: Moving apps?

2017-03-15 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Which version of iOS are you using? Also, are both your Mail and Messages apps
in the dock?
I was going to explain how you do this, but noticed a bug which I had never
noticed before. Maybe some others can see if they can replicate this because I
am using 10.3 Beta 6 so it is always possible that this is a new bug which does
not exist in 10.2.1.
Anyhow, normally you would flick down on say the Mail app so Voiceover says
"Arranging Apps". Then you double tap and, since "Move Mail" is now the
default, you can simply double tap again to activate this.
All of this goes as it should, after the second double tap Voiceover says
"Choose a destination for Mail".
My Mail app is second from the left in the dock, just to the right of the Phone
app. My Messages app is third, so just to the right of the Mail app.
If I now flick right to the Messages app or touch it to put focus on it,
Voiceover says "Messages, editing", but if I now flick down where it should
give me the option to put Mail before Messages or after Messages I am not
getting any of this, the only two options are "Activate" or "Cancel Move".
If instead I touch any app on the home screen above and flick down I get all
the options so it appears that as soon as you just want to move an app from one
position in the dock to another position this method of moving doesn't work and
you have to double tap and hold, then drag left or right.
Furthermore, what I am describing above is only the case if the dock is full
with 4 apps in the dock. If I move an app out of the dock to the home screen
and then try the same action, i.e. trying to move Mail and then touch Messages,
I can now flick down and select to place mail before Messages (which is where
it already is) or I can place it after Messages. I can also move my Audible app
which I have at the bottom right of the dock and which I moved out to the home
screen to test this, back tot he dock using the new method.
Once it is back and the dock is full you once again can't move the position of
the 4 apps in the dock except by using the old method of dragging them.
Having said this, doing a double tap and hold and then dragging an app in the
dock has always been relatively easy since you can't create a folder in the
dock so if I drag Mail to the right and it says "On Messages" I can just let go
and they change places whereas if you do this on the home screen it would
create a folder and you would have to drag Mail a bit to the right of Messages
to it's in the empty space between the two apps.
I think this is probably a bug nobody has noticed, I still think it should be
possible to use the new method with the rotor to rearrange apps in the dock
since you can do so on the home screen and you can do it in the dock as long as
there are only 3 apps in the dock.

Regards,
Sieghard

I think what you need to do to the appleTV in your living room is make sure
speak after delay is on, this should take care of the description not being
read. You can find this in the rotter. As for Netflix asking if your still
watching, I have never been able to find where to extend this to more time,
or just flat out turn it off. So if you find it please let me know.

Hello everybody,

me why this is.

For example, on my Apple TV in the bedroom, when I am watching
Netflix, when the next show in a series comes up, it gives me the

However, the one in my living room does not do this.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this is different?

Also, is there a way to make the one in my living room do this as well?

Also, I was wondering something.

When watching a series, is there a way to stop Netflix from asking me
if I want to continue? It seems to do this at about every 3rd episode.
I find it annoying!

Any help with these questions would be appreciated.

RE: questions regarding Apple TV

2017-03-15 Thread Merv Keck
Netflix asking if you are still watching used to be on the web site. I don't
know if it is still there or not. I haven't tried accessing the site since
losing my vision in 2014. I have quite a bit of difficulty accessing the rotor
on the Apple TV 4. I find it much more difficult than any other Apple device. I
may be doing something wrong.

I think what you need to do to the appleTV in your living room is make sure
speak after delay is on, this should take care of the description not being
read. You can find this in the rotter. As for Netflix asking if your still
watching, I have never been able to find where to extend this to more time, or
just flat out turn it off. So if you find it please let me know.

Re: seeking app or program

2017-03-15 Thread Scott Berry
Hi Vicky,

I think KNFB would be the ticket for this question. I don’t recall the cost
however. But it will do that. Also another program if he is interested in to
might be VoiceDream Reader it reads PDF files quite well to.

RE: iPhone 6 intermittent no arrive

2017-03-15 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Marissa,

I suggest that you remove the phone from the case for a few days and see how
steady the cell signal becomes.

If doing this does not make any difference, then you might try getting a new
SIM card for your phone.

I and others, on occasion, have had to replace the SIM card for various
reasons. Note that swopping out the SIM will not change your customer profile
in any way.

Question so I have my new iPhone 6 (old one was defective and I swapped it
out.) i notice though that sometimes with the new phone that it will show no
service. Seems to happen @ random but when I'm connected to home wifi. I will
when this happens turn on/turn off airplane mode and it seems to return itself
to normal. I have already reset network settings and so far so good but not
sure if that will last.

I know they're is a SIM card installed in the iPhone 6 as I have ATT . I also
had apple rep sit with me through the set up process. It happens sometimes when
I'm Connected to our home wifi. I usually turn on/off airplane mode all works
as it's supposed to again. Ideas?

I'm not surer if the signal is bad where I am I currently get about 3 bars. My
phone is in a case of that makes any difference .

Trending In Twitterrific?

2017-03-15 Thread Fazil M.
Hi, list.

I am using twitterrific with my Iphone5S and IOS10.2x.

How can I find what is trending in my geographical area?

Can I read those tweets only which are sent, or retwitted by the people I
follow and their followers, or I can read something else too in
Twitterrific?

Thanks!

Re: seeking app or program

2017-03-15 Thread Michael Feir
Hi Vicki. I would have to recommend KNFB Reader. That app is normally
around $100 but well worth it. I use it every day to read mail. It even can
give field of view reports to help you capture the whole page. I haven't
regrettd that purchase for a moment and neither have any friends I've
recommended the app to.

seeking app or program

2017-03-15 Thread Vicki
My daughter is looking for some type of app or program for an IPhone 6 or for
an IPad that will allow one of her patients to scan mail and other types of
documents so he can read them.

I think she is mostly looking for a way that he can read his mail.

Does anyone know of an app which will allow him to do this and if so, what the
cost would be?

Thanks.

Vicki

Re: questions regarding Apple TV

2017-03-15 Thread Kliphton Miller
I think what you need to do to the appleTV in your living room is make sure
speak after delay is on, this should take care of the description not being
read. You can find this in the rotter. As for Netflix asking if your still
watching, I have never been able to find where to extend this to more time, or
just flat out turn it off. So if you find it please let me know.

ok so there are 2 volume controls, volume and voice volume? I didn't

Re: Apple's next OS 10.3. Backup your phone

2017-03-15 Thread Wayne Merritt
If your device baks up to iCloud automatically then this should not be
an issue. Mine does, and before I update to the new iOS, I will
definitely check to make sure I have a recent backup, but I have my
phone set to automatically backup which usually happens over night.
Also, if you run low on free iCloud storage, note that 50 gigs is only
$0.99 per month.

Yes, I have checked out the update and I don't care much for the update when
you go and select something in it and say selected when your favorite someone

You'll still need a splitter. Belkin sells one.

I really like the Earpods that come with all iPhones, I guess you should have
received a set of Earpods with Lightning connector with your iPhone 7. They are
also available as a separate purchase.
I purchased a set to use at home with my iPhone 6S Plus just because I like to
have a back-up in case my every-day pair breaks and I also was curious as to
the sond quality of Lightning versus 3.5mm jack.
For whatever it's worth my 50-year old ears hear maybe a very small quality
improvement, but not that much. I definitely think the Earpods whether 3.5mm or
Lightning are one of the best headset deals in that price range out there. I
know there are some people say the Earpods don't fit them well and that's of
course a problem, but they fit my ears great, they stay put and I like how I
can just put them in lightly and get good sound yet still hear 95% of
everything else going on around me.
If you don't like those it would help if you described more what you are
looking for as in the headset style, e.g. earbuds, on-ear, over-ear, price
point etc.

Sieghard

Re: adjusting zello volume

2017-03-15 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I haven't done this in IOS 10 yet, but you should be able to place
VoiceVolume in the roter. You can then use the volume keys on the side
of the phone to increase the volume of Zello and the Volume option in
the roter to lower the volume of VoiceOver.

questions regarding Apple TV

2017-03-15 Thread Terri Stimmel
Hello everybody,

I was wondering about something with my Apple TV's. I have 2 of them.
They are both the 4th generation model. From what I can tell, both of
them are up to date.

However, they both act a bit differently. I am hoping someone can tell
me why this is.

For example, on my Apple TV in the bedroom, when I am watching Netflix,
when the next show in a series comes up, it gives me the title and a bit
of information about it.

However, the one in my living room does not do this.

Does anyone have any idea as to why this is different?

Also, is there a way to make the one in my living room do this as well?

Also, I was wondering something.

When watching a series, is there a way to stop Netflix from asking me if
I want to continue? It seems to do this at about every 3rd episode. I
find it annoying!

Any help with these questions would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Terri

Re: Putting music on an iPhone

2017-03-15 Thread 'Carol Pearson' via VIPhone

Hi there.

I've just listened to the podcast, which I note was done a little while
back now. This prompts a few questions and hope you don't mind giving a
little more information before I try the demo for myself.

First, did the seller ever take up any of your suggestions? If so, how
do they work out for you and, if not, did he give a reason why not?

Have you managed by now to get the wifi working? I would want to do that
also.

Finally, is the programme still being worked on regularly enough and
what else have you been able to do since your purchase and updates?

I hope you don't mind the questions. I will then download and take it
for a spin myself ...

(As my days are really busy, it looks as though I'll be on night shift
to try out this one if it's still only 24 hours ...)

Cheers and I look forwad to further discussion on this one.

2017-03-15 Thread Gianni
I can't open the podcast.

I use iTunes on a regular bases. I am starting to like it.
I also use filebrowser on my iphone. It's very easy. You can open a map on your
computer or server and copy music or play music on your iphone via your
network. It also plays flac.

Hi,

The only thing I am wondering about, is weather the change in file system in

I use to use a Foobar add-on years ago to add music to my phone, but iOS 5 or 6
