But, Mark: you move an audio book into a Collection, yet it remains in
Audiobooks and is easy to find. If I put a purchased book into s Collection, it
disappears from Books and, furthermore, is very difficult to find in All Books
because all my pdfs are listed I’m there too! So, why remove purchased books
from the Books Collection?

Five reasons you'll regret ditching your Apple iPhone for an Android

2017-11-27 Thread M. Taylor
Five reasons you'll regret ditching your Apple iPhone for an Android
Apple knows how to retain its customers.
By James Hetherington
November 27, 2017 16:55 GMT

It's official, the switch to Android is complete. Nearly three weeks on,
Google's mobile platform has more than lived up to the hype.

But we'd be lying if we said we didn't miss the iPhone. There are still
features you just cannot enjoy as much on Android. Here are the five we miss
the most:

1. iMessage
iMessage uses a notably blue speech bubble. Apple
It's hard to believe iMessage didn't appear on iOS until 2011, four years
after the iPhone launched. Now, those blue message bubbles are all anyone on
the platform can talk about it. And yes, they are bloody fantastic.
Easy picture messaging, group chats, games, gifs... Apple has really kicked
the platform into overdrive in the past few years. And it should, it's a big
reason a lot of people don't want to leave iPhones or iOS.
Remember worrying about MMS and picture messaging charges? You can probably
thank Apple for making that redundant.

2. Live photos
Live Photos can bring stills to life
Getting a photo sent to you is great, but when Apple unveiled live photos
for the iPhone 6S it added a whole extra dimension to snaps. Force touch the
picture and it would become "alive", with about 1.5 seconds of footage
recorded before and after you hit the shutter button.
It was easy for Apple to market: kids laughing and smiling, fireworks
exploding... You get the idea. As more and more people upgraded beyond the
iPhone 6s, it almost became the norm.
And although other companies offer alternatives, such as the Pixel 2's
motion photos, it's just not the same since you have to share with
software-compatible friends. There's a theme emerging here: Apple is very
good at locking you in.

3. Apple Pay
So here's the problem with Android Pay, not all banks need to buy in.
Barclays, for example, does not support Android Pay, choosing instead to
push its own app. This is such a major shortcoming.
Apple's "our way or the highway" mentality actually pays off in this
situation. My Apple Pay had accounts from three different banks set up and
it was easy to decide which one to use when purchasing something.
Sorry, no one wants to use two or three different apps to do the same thing.
Know anybody with three different Facebook apps? Didn't think so.

4. The connectivity
Apple's rather talented at locking you into its eco-system. Apple
Boy oh boy Apple are good at locking you in. When you've got an iPhone,
buying a Macbook eventually becomes routine. You like how your iPhone works,
so it should be smooth for an Apple computer as well. And it is. But then
fast forward to a switch and now you've got a completely different setup to
tackle.
The Macbook doesn't matter too much, the real killer is the Apple Watch. Say
goodbye to notifications on your wrist, Apple Watch categorically does not
work with an Android phone. Ironically, it's still attached snugly to my
wrist. What for you ask? It's still a great fitness tracker without an
iPhone nearby. Plus, I can use Apple Pay.
One last thing: Apple TV. Go and buy yourself a Chromecast because that
little black box won't pick up a thing from your Android device (at least
not for free).

5. Accessories
Apple's Lightning headphones. Photo by Jessica Lewis from Pexels
So many wasted cords, so many useless headphone adapters. Thanks to the rise
of Bluetooth, this issue is not nearly as bad as it once would have been.
Headphones, speakers and car connections are mostly wireless now anyway.
But that doesn't mean it's not an absolute pain to have countless lightning
cables sitting around for nothing. Come on, everyone has more than one,
don't they.
Then there's those little headphone to lightning adapters, they're all
useless now as well. Bringing back the theme, once you're in, Apple make
every effort to keep you locked down.

How to Switch from the iPhone to the Pixel 2

2017-11-27 Thread M. Taylor
How to Switch from the iPhone to the Pixel 2
By Patrick Lucas, Austin Today

Anyone using an iPhone might think it's difficult to switch to an Android
device. But Google's latest smartphone, the Pixel 2, alleviates the anxiety
of switching by taking care of all the annoying bits, like copying your
photos or contacts. You'll need to change some settings before you can
transfer from one operating system to the next, but the entire process is a
lot less stressful than importing and exporting data you might have trouble
properly identifying or moving (everyone hates VCF files).
What You'll Need:

To seamlessly transfer your data from iOS to Android, you'll need to get
your equipment in order. That means the computer that manages your iTunes
backups, your iPhone, a USB to Lightning cable, and your Pixel 2 equipment.

Bundled with the Pixel 2 (and 2 XL) is a Quick Switch Adapter, a USB-C to
USB-A adapter that lets you connect your Pixel 2, with its USB-C port, to an
iOS device using a traditional USB-A to Lightning cable. You'll need that.
Inside the box is a SIM card ejector tool. You'll need that, too.

First, Disable iMessage
Before you switch from one phone to another, you'll need to turn off
iMessage. This will ensure your texts won't end up in message purgatory,
where texts sent by Android users switching from iOS end up undelivered.
Visit Settings, tap Messages, and toggle off iMessage. Simple!

Decrypt Your iPhone
The amount of data transferred to your Pixel 2 will be affected if you've
enabled backup encryption for your iOS device. To alleviate the issue,
you'll need to disable backup encryption by connecting your iOS device to a
computer running iTunes. Uncheck "Encrypt iPhone Backup" on Summary page,
and give iTunes a few minutes to backup your iPhone without encryption.

Switch Your SIM, Charge Your Phones
You should switch out your iPhone's SIM after disabling iMessage and
decrypting your iPhone to avoid any complications. You can use the Pixel 2's
included SIM removal tool to pop open your iPhone's SIM and insert it into
your Pixel 2. You are now free to turn on both of your devices. Ensure both
have been charged to at least 50%, or else you won't be able to initiate the
transfer process. Connect your Pixel 2 to your preferred Wi-Fi network. Then
follow the Pixel 2's on-screen prompts.

Make a Google Account, Select Your Data
If you're switching to Android, you're going to want to create a Google
account to store all that transferred data. After you create one (or sign in
with your current Google account) you can pick and choose which bits of data
to transfer, like photos, messages, calendars, and contacts. Or just copy it
all and say goodbye to your walled garden. Behold: your new, Android-based
walled garden, complete with AirDrop and Bluetooth-powered headphone-pairing
alternatives!

Apple Should Have Shrunk the iPhone around the Screen Instead of Growing the Screen to Fill the Body

2017-11-27 Thread M. Taylor
Apple Should Have Shrunk the iPhone around the Screen,
Instead They Grew the Screen to Fill the Body.

By Robert Perez.

Dennis Green at Business Insider offered an explanation for why he's decided
to stop using the iPhone X and go back to a Plus, and it brings up a lot of
feelings I've had about Apple's (AAPL) new iPhone lately.

But there's really only one flaw that really matters to me: the phone is
impossible for me to use with one hand.

Though the phone is only a bit bigger than the iPhone 6, 7, and 8, the
bezel-less screen makes for an enormous size increase.

The new gestures required by the notch mean there's no way to look at my
notifications with only one hand, or access the control center. Those are
pretty essential functions, and it drastically limits the usability of the
phone when I'm on the go or when I only have one hand free.- Dennis Green,
Business Insider

I've been thinking about this a lot lately. The narrow aspect ratio of the
iPhone X is to make one-handed use easier but the user interface makes two
hands a necessity. I swing back and forth between upgrading to an 8 Plus or
an iPhone X. I'm torn between the Plus's wider aspect ratio or getting the
iPhone X's awesome FaceID.

I still think that the iPhone X is the best phone you can possibly get, but
the size was somewhat of a compromise. I constantly come back to the fact
that I wish Apple had shrunk the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus so that the the screen
sizes had remained unchanged and the bezels around them had shrunk.

If Apple had shrunk the phone body around the 4.7" screen, then one-handed
use on the whole screen would have remained possible for most people.
Further, a lot of SE owners, like my wife, would have finally been able to
upgrade to the 4.7" screen. This group would have been ecstatic.

Also, a lot of us users of the 5.5" Plus prefer this wide aspect ratio
because the extra width makes everything feel more spacious. Video detail is
easier to see and fonts everywhere are bigger. The 5.8" screen on the X is
actually larger and can physically display more data, but due to the narrow
width, it looks cramped in comparison to the 5.5" Plus.

I compared my phone to my co-workers X and found some interesting
differences. All the text and pictures on my 7 Plus were larger. You can see
much more content on the X but everything is much smaller. Apple seems to be
making an attempt to mitigate this by making the fonts render thicker. The
letters look much bolder than on my 7 Plus. It does help somewhat but
doesn't change the fact that the letters on the 7 Plus are significantly
larger and easier to read. I can read the 7 Plus without zooming in on the
text. I can't do that on the X, which renders its size advantage moot.

My problem with the Plus has always been the length of the phone, not the
width. It is difficult to fit into pockets, will physically hurt your hip in
tight pants, and is prone to flipping back due to the higher center of
gravity. If Apple had removed the home button and shrunk all the bezels
around the 5.5" screen, I would have been overjoyed. The 5.5" screen is
4.75" tall. If Apple shrunk the bezels around this size screen, the phone
would be shorter than the iPhone 8, which is 5.45" tall. Can you imagine the
Plus sized iPhone being shorter than the iPhone 8? That would be awesome.

Apple tried to split the difference between the 7 and 7 Plus, but for a lot
of Plus owners it feels like a step backwards. If Apple had shrunk the
bezels on the 4.7" and 5.5" phones, everyone would have been happy. A lot of
4.7" owners would have upgraded to the 5.5" phone, but this would have been
offset by 4.0" SE owners upgrading to the 4.7" phone.

If Apple had simply shrunk the bezels on their screens, one-handed use would
have been possible on the 4.7" phone and easier on a 5.5" screen than the
current tall 5.8" screen. I thought the benefit of a narrow phone was that
it was easier to use one-handed? If I need to use two hands, I might as well
get the benefit of a wider screen.

Now that Apple has started down the road of tall narrow screens, I'm not so
sure that the rumored "X Plus" next year is going be the phone that I want.
It'll probably be an improvement over the current 5.8" X, but it's not going
to be the small-bezel 5.5" screen that I want. There's no way that Apple
could make the X Plus screen smaller than the X. That means that any X Plus
screen is probably going to be even taller and harder to use. Apple will
probably make an X Plus phone that is no shorter in height than the 8 Plus
or maybe even slightly taller. Again, not what I want. Height is the worst
thing about the current Plus.

I still think that the iPhone X is the best phone on the market, bar none.
It has the best screen quality, and I'm seriously wanting that optical 2x
camera lens with optical image stabilization. Also, as a runner who can
never get TouchID to work after a sweaty summer run, to me FaceID looks like
a Godsend. I just wish that

Hello Sieghard,

You are quite correct. One cannot toggle-off Water Lock when VoiceOver's
Digital Crown Navigation mode is enabled.

So, what I do is to disable Digital Crown Navigation mode just before engaging
the Water Lock.

When I'm ready to disable Water Lock, I simply turn the Digital Crown until
normal mode is restored.

Do you know by any chance if enabling digital crown navigation changes how you

Hi Marie,

Yes, you can use both the series 2 and 3 in the pool.

Just select pool swim within the workout app, set the pool length tap the start
button and you are off!

Selecting pool swim automatically engages the water lock feature so you will
need to rotate the digital crown once you have finished your swim to enable
normal functionality.

I don't think this is a puzzle as this is the expected function. As Mary

Re: iTunes, and accessibility

2017-11-27 Thread Kelly Pierce
The new iTunes is like the old iTunes. Both are a pain in the ass to
use. It is no secret that Apple’s weakness is in software
development. I learned the new iTunes just by tabbing around, pressing
the iPhone button and exploring drop down lists. Music is still added
and removed in the same way it was before and I have added many albums
along with a few ring tomes with the new iTunes version.

RE: changing the way VoiceOver says something

2017-11-27 Thread Richard Turner
I’d go ahead and change it in the pronunciation dictionary and see if it holds.
It is treating it that way because of the period after it.
I cannot remember all the stings in the pronunciation area, but maybe you can
fix it there.

Good luck,
Richard

Hi,
If VoiceOver says an abbreviation I do not want it to say, can I change it? I
looked in Pronunciation, but I don’t think it will work to change it there.
The word is “coop”. if it’s in the middle of the sentence, it correctly says
“coop” as in the place where chickens are kept. However, if the word coop is
the last word in a sentence, VoiceOver wants to assume it’s the abbreviation
for “cooperative”. Took me a while to figure out why the novel I was reading
kept referring to a “chicken cooperative”.

RE: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Richard Turner
There are several settings that can impact what is read.
I know there is one setting to have it stop after every sentence. There may be
a setting to stop after each page.
I’ve never had that issue.
I will look through the settings and see what I find.
You can set a voice for each book or set a preferred voice that will be the
default.
Other than iOS voices, the rest are purchases. But, you should be able to adjust
which voices you are using under Manage My Voices in settings.

Depending on when you bought the app, you may have gotten one free voice
already.

Later,
Richard

Richard,
Thanks, I'll have a look and see what questions you create. I have read a few
short things with VoiceDream Reader, but have not had a lot of luck with it.
It's been a while since I used it, but it seems like I was having problems with
trying to get different voices and it would only read a page at a time. Any
thoughts on this one?

If you have a PC, my favorite way to use Kindle books is to install a little
program called Codex on your PC, and convert the Kindle book to an ePub and
read it in VoiceDream Reader.
The Kindle app is quite accessible on the iPhone, but it is more clunky to use
for searches and such to me than Voice Dream.
There are lots of caveats that I hope I included on my web site under Useful
Apps.
I'm on the road today, but if you don't find what you need about Codex on my
web site, let me know and I'll reply in more detail this evening. My web site

RE: Seeing AI Product identification on an IPhone 5S

2017-11-27 Thread Richard Turner
Hi,
You don’t have to tap on anything once you have selected the Product channel.
Hold the phone about 6 to 10 inches from the container and if the barcode is
found, the app will beep and the faster it beeps, the closer you are to getting
a result.
You may have to move it slowly away or closer once the rapid beeping begins.
Once it recognizes the code, a different sound will play and you will have the
information on the screen.
If you want to check for detailed information on the product, flick right a
couple times with one finger after the product name and find the More Info
button. If it is not dimmed, double tap and depending on the manufacturer, you
may find all kinds of helpful information.

HTH,
Richard

2017-11-27 Thread goshawk on horseback
first thing, is get a swimming tracker app, there are a few about.
I have so far found however, that mine has done very poorly at getting the
distance right, no matter which app I try. this is very possibly because I
do exclusively open water rather than pool swimming though, and a number of
the apps do ask about pool length, so you may find that they work better for
you.
hope this is of some help.

Hi Gary,

Do you know by any chance if enabling digital crown navigation changes how you
can get rid of waterlock? I like the digital crown navigation, but it seems I

RE: Zolo liberty+ Bluetooth 5.0 Earbuds, maybe they give Apple Airpods a run for their money

Hi Eric,

Thanks for the feedback. I was hoping that with Bluetooth 5.0 the lag should be
less rather than more and sound quality should be better because they can

a run for their money

I did order those last Monday and received them Wednesday. They are pretty much
as described. They do have the silicone tip that goes into the ear canal. Each
earbud itself is probably about the size of a gumball with the tip sticking out
of it. The earbud is covered with a very thin silicone sleeve that I believe
keeps it more secure than AirPods with their slick surface. They have three
other sets of covers with a wing device that is supposed to keep the earbud
even more secure. However, getting that sleeve on and off the buds was near
impossible, and frankly I didn’t think I needed the extra security enough to
bother any longer. Unlike with the AirPod covers you can purchase that have to
be removed to charge, these would fit in the charging case. The outside of each
bud is a button. Tapping it will start/stop music and answer or end calls.
Double tapping will activate Siri. Pressing on the right will skip forward a
track and holding and pressing on the left earbud will skip back. It does seem
you can only hear phone calls in the right earbud. The sound is quite
comparable to apples earPods/AirPods. There may be a bit more bass to the
anker. Reportedly, they have 3 1/2 hours of battery life and an additional 30
hours recharging in the case? The case itself is like a miniature eyeglasses
case. It is about 2 inches front to back, 4 inches side to side and an inch and
a half top to bottom. Just guessing… The case will go into a front pocket, but
it is going to bulge. Also, they could have made it easier to flip the lid up.
There is just a narrow gauge for a thumbnail to raise the lid. The buds fit
securely and magnetically into pockets inside the case. They could have
designed it a little easier to take the buds out. I found the same with
AirPods. The case does recharge with a mini USB cable. I found pairing to
Bluetooth to be very easy. When taking the bugs out of the case, they turn on
and connect to one another rather quickly. I use quite a number of Bluetooth
headphones and speakers, and I have never complain much about lag. I do feel
there is a little more lag in these than normal. I can’t imagine it would be
enough to disturb watching and listening to a movie, though. Bluetooth range is
as good as my better Bluetooth devices. I have not experienced any loss of
signal or breaking up. If you do receive these, note they are different than
most of your buds in that they do not hang down over your earlobe. The stem
goes into your ear canal at the bottom of the bud, which then fills the
entireity of your outerr ear. It does protrude a bit, but it really isn’t that
bad. Also, they don’t block out sound anymore then does any other buds with the
stem going into your ear canal. They are very comfortable and fit very secure.
I would rate these higher than AirPods, even before considering the $50 price
difference. Perhaps the larger case is a negative for some. Also, anker does a
much better job standing behind their products for longer than Apple. I am not
sure that I recommend these truly wireless earbuds, however. After having two
pair now, I think I am just as happy with ones connected by cable. I don’t fear
one dropping out and being lost. I certainly felt that way about the AirPods.
These I have only had a few days and used very little so far, so not enough
time to really say for sure.

Feel free to ask about anything I missed or to clarify.

All,

If anyone uses this app, I wanted to let you know of a problem I experienced
with it today. This app is used to provide a token to be used for two factor
authentication when accessing certain websites, in my case, sites I use to
access servers at work.

When you get a new phone, you need to re-register the app with your company in
order to be able to use it on the new phone. Most of this process is
accessible with voiceover, however there is one screen where you need to tap on
a "Continue" button. I could not find this button with VoiceOver. I had to
turn VoiceOver off in order to be able to tap on this button. This one small
thing made it a very frustrating process to do what should have been a simple
activity of re-registering my phone with my company's help desk.

I just wanted to let anyone else know who might be using this app.

You go to the Amazon website, search in the Kindle web store and find the
book you want. Then once you have found it, you will see on the page where
you have the book information, that if you have more than one place where
you might read your Kindle book, you will get to pick from among the various
devices that you might have. There will be something that is the default. If
that's your only device, then you're good to go. So, for instance, there
would be a papa button which you would double tap, and then you would use
the picker to move among your devices, say Evans Kindle fire or Evan's
iPhone, or whatever your devices are called. Double tap the one you want and
then you buy the book and it automatically goes where you told her to go.
And if you forgot, and book got sent to the wrong device, once you open the
Kindle app on the device you want to use, you can just download it from with
in the app.

Hi Kay, After I sent my last message, I realized that I got the LUA
presentation mixed up with another (from BITS) which I also attended.
The LUA presentation regarding Kindle books and how to read them was
presented by Carla Rushieval. I am sure it was recorded, and I'm also
sure that if you contact Carla or anyone else in LUA's leadership, you
can find out how to listen to the recording.

Again, hope this helps, and happy reading!

RE: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Same as Audible, it's owned by Amazon and you have to buy a book via your web
browser on the PC or via Safari on your iPhone, but as soon as you bought it
(with your Amazon Id of course) it is associated with that and since you use
the same Amazon Id to log in to your Audible (and Kindl) apps the book is
automatically visible there and available to download. I never even use this
button/control on the website to send my Audible books anywhere, they just show
up. Maybe it's different with Kindl, but I'd just try it, buy the book and then
open the Kindl app and see if the book is there.
In Audible you can also browse books and add them to your wishlist, but then
you just have to go online and complete the purchase for the reason Mary
described.

Regards,
Sieghard

You go to the Amazon website, search in the Kindle web store and find the
book you want. Then once you have found it, you will see on the page where
you have the book information, that if you have more than one place where
you might read your Kindle book, you will get to pick from among the various
devices that you might have. There will be something that is the default. If
that’s your only device, then you’re good to go. So, for instance, there
would be a papa button which you would double tap, and then you would use
the picker to move among your devices, say Evans Kindle fire or Evan‘s
iPhone, or whatever your devices are called. Double tap the one you want and
then you buy the book and it automatically goes where you told her to go.
And if you forgot, and book got sent to the wrong device, once you open the
Kindle app on the device you want to use, you can just download it from with
in the app.

No you can’t. Amazon and Apple do not agree about how much revenue Apple
gets from sales, so Apple doesn’t let you use the Kindle app to buy books.
You can do it on Safari, and it’s quite easy. My Kindle library is proof
of that. Smile.

RE: Purchased Instant Pot Ultra 10-in-1

2017-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I do think of myself as a relatively nice guy, but buying my main employee who
has worked for me for over 10 years a wedding present sort of goes without
saying. I was actually going to buy him and his wife an Apple TV 4K since they
still have a third generation model and I will still do this, but if the
Instant Pot doesn't work for me then I know they would enjoy it and spending
$400 on an employee who can for the most part run my business if I decide to go
away for a few weeks after such a long relationship isn't at all out of the
ordinary.
Last year a local diamond drilling company ordered 250 Deuter daypacks for all
of their employees as Christmas gifts, of course their logo was embroidered on
them, but at $120 a piece that still was a $30,000 bill and a few years before
that the owner came in and bought 3 Swarovsky binoculars for a few people in
his top management team and those are $3,000 a piece (in Canadian Dollars). Of
course he makes a bit more money with his business than I do with my little
retail shop which is why I live in a 2,000 square foot house and he lives in
one that is 3 times that size and 10 times the price. This is of course fine
with me because I wouldn't get such sales if I didn't have customers who were
very well off in addition to all the regular folks who save up to buy a new gun
or pair of $500 hiking boots (or use their credit card).

Sieghard

Thanks, I'll write it down, I did actually go on their website and it was
quite easy to find both an email address as well as a toll free number. It's
different than yours, so I'll try both.
I decided not to cancel this order, the manager of my retail store is
getting married this coming week and if after checking it out I find it's
not accessible or not accessible enough I'll give it to them as a wedding
gift and order the bluetooth version.

Take care,

Hi Deb,

TThis new "Ultra" model just came out this year and it has a single dial.
Now, Kay, if what you said is correct then I guess it will go back in the
box. Where did you call, do you have a direct number for Instant Pot? I
guess I could still cancel it and wonder if I shouldn't do so after what you
said. I was sort of hoping the dial would click with each turn.

There's no dial as far as I know of. None of the rest have a dial.
They all have tactile buttons so I imagine this one does too. That's the
trouble with asking customer service. I always have someone look at the
pictures and describe the entire thing. And in this case, you can download
the manual in advance. But I doubt there's a dial of any kind on it. I'll be
very surprised if it's not useable.

RE: iTunes, and accessibility

2017-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I don’t think Pablo has a Mac computer. In fact, Pablo, I didn’t think you had
an iPhone anymore or were ever going to get another one. I guess you must
really cherish your love-hate relationship with Apple *smile*.
Also, I don’t think you said what version of iTunes you have. If you are on any
of the 12.7 versions then things have changed considerably, Apple has removed
the ability to manage apps with iTunes, not sure about books since I have never
used this feature.
You can still manage music manually if you want, but syncing ringtones has
changed (I think it’s easier now) and I know some people have said they can
still use iTunes File Transfer to transfer files to Voice Dream Reader etc.
Unfortunately I can’t help you much further because the only thing I use iTunes
for is to occasionally create a ringtone from a song and sync ringtones. I
haven’t had music on my phone for years since I have an Apple Music
subwscription and enough data so that for the little bit of music listening I
just stream it. I use Audible for my audio books 99% of the time and if I
really want to get an MP3 book onto my phone to listen to with Voice Dream
Reader I just sync it via Dropbox or iTunes Drive.
If you want iTunes to be more like the way it was before you need to download
iTunes 12.6.3, Apple released this version after 12.7 came out and it’s
primarily for companies who still want to manage apps via iTunes and I know
several people on the list have gone back to this version. I assume you will
have to uninstall iTunes 12.7.x and all Apple components and then install
12.6.3. This version supports iOS 11 and I believe it won’t update for the
foreseeable future.
If you want to read more and find direct download links for iTunes 12.6.3 for
Windows (separate download links for 32 Bit and 64 Bit) you can Read this
article from OSX
Daily.

When you co`nect your iphone open itunes. Then swipe right until you hear
iPhone, double click with one finger. Then beginnen from the top of your
screen, swipe right until you hear navagition kolom or something like that.
Then you must push control, option, shift and arrow down. Then swipe right and
you'll find general, music, ibooks etc. When you have the right item push
control, option, shigt, arrow up.

Ok, I remember that before we had a kind of list where we were able to choose
between our device, books, music, videos, etc. If we navigate to our device, we
had to press tab several times until we were able to find the general
information about our phone, serial number, phone number, our names, and also a
button called accessibility, and many others. If we navigate on the list to
books, we were able to find after pressing tab several times, books that we had
in our phone, or books that we were able to transfer to our books.
Now I can’t find the way to locate this list of features that we had before.
Thanks

Someone in the list could help me with this program?

Re: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Mary Otten
No you can’t. Amazon and Apple do not agree about how much revenue Apple gets
from sales, so Apple doesn’t let you use the Kindle app to buy books. You can
do it on Safari, and it’s quite easy. My Kindle library is proof of that. Smile.

I use Kindle books on my ipad and just download straight from the app.
Unless there is a certain book I want to buy, then I do get online and
order it from Amazon, I wanted Debby Campbell's book Burnin Bridges,
and had to go to the Kindle store on Amazon and get it, but otherwise,
they have a wonderful list of books you can choose from. Also you can

I think there's another site out there like that but can't remember its

Richard,
Thanks, I'll have a look and see what questions you create. I have read a
few short things with VoiceDream Reader, but have not had a lot of luck with
it. It's been a while since I used it, but it seems like I was having
problems with trying to get different voices and it would only read a page

The Kindle app is quite accessible on the iPhone, but it is more clunky to

Re: How to subscribe and use Kindle books

2017-11-27 Thread Penny Reeder
Hi Kay, Library Users of America (LUA) did a phone-in conference call
on this topic about 6 weeks ago. It was excellent -- Maria Kristic and
another LUA member answered all your questions! I think it's available
as a recording. Maybe you can find it on the LUA web site, or if you
call Carla Rushieval, I'm sure she can tell you how to find it.

I have the Kindle app on my IPHone, and so far, I've downloaded and
read one Kindle book; it's Melissa Clark's Dinner in an Instant
cookbook for the Instant Pot. If you have an IPhone, reading commands
for Kindle books are quite similar to reading commands for everything
else.

Another advantage of Boop is it vibrates; the faster the vibrations,
the lighter the source. This is good for the hard of hearing folk.

Re: Bard app help needed

2017-11-27 Thread Wayne Merritt
Chris, I have also experienced the issues you described. Sometimes I
can activate the back button within the site and return to the page I
was just on, but other times it does seem to lag. I am using an iPhone
7 Plus with iOS 11.1.2. At times the lagging gets so slow that I give
up and pull up the site on my laptop. It is frustrating not to be able
to browse to books or search for books within BARD, but doing it
within the BARD Mobile app is not the only way.

not for the smart pots. The layout is wrong and so on. The recipes would

Re: iTunes, and accessibility

2017-11-27 Thread Gianni
When you co`nect your iphone open itunes. Then swipe right until you hear
iPhone, double click with one finger. Then beginnen from the top of your
screen, swipe right until you hear navagition kolom or something like that.
Then you must push control, option, shift and arrow down. Then swipe right and
you'll find general, music, ibooks etc. When you have the right item push
control, option, shigt, arrow up.

RE: iTunes, and accessibility

2017-11-27 Thread Pablo Morales
Ok, I remember that before we had a kind of list where we were able to choose
between our device, books, music, videos, etc. If we navigate to our device, we
had to press tab several times until we were able to find the general
information about our phone, serial number, phone number, our names, and also a
button called accessibility, and many others. If we navigate on the list to
books, we were able to find after pressing tab several times, books that we had
in our phone, or books that we were able to transfer to our books.

Now I can’t find the way to locate this list of features that we had before.

Thanks

Zolo liberty+ Bluetooth 5.0 Earbuds, maybe they give Apple Airpods a run for their money

2017-11-27 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hi,

Just came across these Zolo Liberty+ earbuds, they are I believe made by Anker
or at least the guy who started Anker is involved somehow.
I didn't see them yet on Amazon.ca, but you can preorder them on Amazon.com for
$99 and it says they will be available on November 29 which is just 2 days away.
They were offered via Kickstarter campagne as well this summer.
If anybody buys them I hope they'll post a review, here is the link on Amazon:

ZOLO Liberty Total-Wireless Earphones, Bluetooth Earbuds with Graphene Driver
Technology and 24 Hours Battery Life, Sweatproof Total-Wireless Earbuds with
Smart
AI

Regards,
Sieghard
