Simon:

This is really not something I would be interested in having.

The only reason I want to forward the text to an email was because I was
sending it to someone who’s phone did not support text messages.

Interesting to look into though. Don’t know if iPhone has anything like it.

Interesting though, as I said Samsung had something like this built in to their

But this one sounds like a workable option if it’s available to the iPhone.

I asked my tech what he used to send all text messages to his PC from his
Samsung phone.. Here is his response.

“
I've been using "Mighty Text" for several years. There is a free version but
you're limited to the number of texts that you can send each month. I pay
for the pro version which includes unlimited texts. I was paying $8.99 a
month but a few months back, they asked if I'd like to pay for a year at
$44.79, which of course I did.

I really like being able to text from my PC. The only time I ever text from
my phone is when I'm not at home.

I don't think the app supports iPhone though, at least it didn't in the

you use your browser on the PC to access the Mighty Text web page.

Hi,

In case anyone is interested, I did buy the ChirpOmAtic app. It is generally
accessible with a couple of caveats. I did not try recording any birds because
it is a hot muggy day around here.

Here are a couple of issues. Here is the biggest one. When you start the app
Voiceover does not come out of the speaker. It is as though you are on a phone
call. If you press the home button and come out of the app and go back in then
voiceover comes out of the speaker. (I did not try with headphones to see what
would happen.) I am thinking that this happens because the app wants to use the
microphone, and so it puts any sound on the phone to the ear piece. This is
fixable, but strange!

Most of the controls are fine, but some of them are labeled with words with no
spaces. For instance on the first page there is a control that is labeled
“taptorecord.”

The app does have a reference section where you can hear various birds. This
section has a letter index and a search that is accessible and works. On the
page where you hear the birds songs/calls there is a description of the sound
just as there is in the “Chirp! Bird Song & calls USA” app. However, if you
want to read the description of the song/call, you have to hunt a bit toward
the bottom right of the screen.

Take care!

Hi,

It looks as though the ChirpOmAtic and the one I suggested “Chirp USA” are from
the same developer. By the way, I just looked in the app store, and the one I
recommended is listed as “chirp! Bird songs & calls USA.” I looked up what I
paid, and it was $3.95 in December, 2016. Because it is on my phone, I can’t
tell if the price has changed.

I think I am going to get the “ChirpOMAtic” and try it out. Although birds
aren’t really singing as much this time of year in my suburban environment. It
will be interesting to see how it handles multiple birds.

Take care!

I wonder about these apps when you have multiple birds singing at the same time.
I’m not sure any of them could be all that accurate.

It’s too bad they don’t have a trial period.
Like you Bill, I would not buy an app without knowing it worked with VoiceOver
at the very least.

I haven't used the Chirpomatic app in a year. I tried using the app on an

Xfinity is great if you have their internet.

We were on Consumer cellular before Xfinity offered their plan.

Consumer cellular was quite affordable and very good customer service.

I suggest calling the various companies.

I know Consumer Cellular will give you all the details up front.

Verizon does have an accessibility department, so maybe they would be more

I don't have much experience with anyone else.

Take care!

I think I am going to get the “ChirpOMAtic” and try it out. Although birds
aren’t really singing as much this time of year in my suburban environment. It
will be interesting to see how it handles multiple birds.

I wonder about these apps when you have multiple birds singing at the same time.

I’m not sure any of them could be all that accurate.

It’s too bad they don’t have a trial period.

Like you Bill, I would not buy an app without knowing it worked with VoiceOver
at the very least.

I am likewise interested in an app that can identify birds by their calls with
a reasonable degree of accuracy. I live in northern Wisconsin and as I sit
outside listening to the cacauphony of bird calls surrounding me I’d like to
know which species are so garciously treating me to Nature’s symphony.

I went to the web site listed by Richard and found an app named ChirpOMatic but
wonder if it is accessible. It costs $3.95 and I am sufficiently cheap that I
do not want to throw away that amount.

Can anybody tell me if ChirpOMatic is accessible to a totally blind person?

Xfinity is great if you have their internet.

We were on Consumer cellular before Xfinity offered their plan.

Consumer cellular was quite affordable and very good customer service.

I suggest calling the various companies.

I know Consumer Cellular will give you all the details up front.

Verizon does have an accessibility department, so maybe they would be more
helpful.

I don't have much experience with anyone else.

My main email addresses are not on my iPhone, so that might be 1 of the
differences. This was discussing forwarding a text message to a PC so, the
steps I laid out is exactly how it worked for me. Also when the text
messages were forwarded to the PC they were not in the email, they were text
messages attached to the emails. As for your subject line not showing, do
you have the subject line set to show in Settings / Message app?

If this isn't supposed to work this way, I don't know what to say other than

I am not sure why this would work for you, if I forward a text message and
type my email address as the recipient I see at the top "New MMS Message"
and I have no subject field at all, it is sent as a text message and not as
an email and I can't even use my main email address as it is registered for
iMessages and if I use it the message is just forwarded to me as an
iMessage.

It would be different if there were a "Share" button which would allow you
to select "Mail"" as the method to share a text message, but the Forward
function as far as I can tell only works when sending it as a text message.

Maybe your bank has an app that you can securely get that information.

RE: Forwarding a text message to an email address

2020-07-19 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
I am not sure why this would work for you, if I forward a text message and type
my email address as the recipient I see at the top "New MMS Message" and I have
no subject field at all, it is sent as a text message and not as an email and I
can't even use my main email address as it is registered for iMessages and if I
use it the message is just forwarded to me as an iMessage.
It would be different if there were a "Share" button which would allow you to
select "Mail"" as the method to share a text message, but the Forward function
as far as I can tell only works when sending it as a text message.

Hi Holly,

This is how I forward a text message to an email address if the email address
is in my iPhone contacts:

1. Double tap the unopen text message, swipe up / down to, More, and double tap.

2. Swipe right to, Forward, and double tap. This puts me on the, To field, so
swipe right to, Add contact button double tap to open.

3. Locate the contact and double tap, find the desired email address and double
tap, swipe to the, subject line and enter something into the field.

4. Swipe to, Send, and double tap.
Note: when you receive the text message it will be an attachment to the email.

This is how I forward a text message to an email address that is not in my
iPhone contacts:

1. Double tap the unopen text message, swipe up / down to, More, and double tap.

2. Swipe right to, Forward, and double tap. This puts me on the, To field, so
type in the email address.

3. Swipe to the, Subject field, and put something in here.

4. Swipe to, Send, and double tap.
Note: when you receive the text message it will be an attachment to the email.

Take care. Mike. Sent from my iBarstool.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please

Voice Dream Scanner read my CSV number, but it did not identify it as CSV, it
just read the digits. Because I know what it is, I recognized it, but if you
did not know it, OCR is probably not going to be that helpful.
Maybe your bank has an app that you can securely get that information.

I found an AT web site that mentioned all disabilities including blind and
had specific articles on each including a focused article on a blind employee

After expanding the Resources tab and selecting support, I found a web site

Hi List,

I did a Google search and was not encouraged with the results regarding AT
and Accessibility support. They do have a National Center for Customers with
Disabilities and its phone number is 866-241-6568. However, this center appears
to be for those with hearing or speech impairments who are unable to use the
regular voice network. They have a special rate plan for those who are
qualified and certified to have the requisite impairment and the application
form to apply can be found at this website:

https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.att.com%2Fecms%2Fdam%2Fatt%2Fconsumer%2Fhelp%2Fpdf%2FTAP-disability-certification-form.pdfdata=02%7C01%7C%7C057381d37c144f42a78c08d82bf9d0bc%7C84df9e7fe9f640afb435%7C1%7C0%7C637307699225257453sdata=w74BU4c95DWCHwF4FGptQoohG0baxYKAySGPqzIKKTY%3Dreserved=0

I accessed another website where they had contact phone numbers posted to see
if they had an Accessibility Customer Support phone number but was discouraged
to see that each of those numbers were housed in separate images that
Fusion/JAWS would not read.

If anyone else has better information regarding AT Accessibility customer
support contact info, I'd love to hear it. Personally, I'm glad I'm on Verizon.

RE: Accessible and Accurate Bird Song Identification App

2020-07-19 Thread Debby

I think I am going to get the “CirPOMAtic” and try it out.

RE: Accessible and Accurate Bird Song Identification App

2020-07-19 Thread Richard Turner
I wonder about these apps when you have multiple birds singing at the same time.
I’m not sure any of them could be all that accurate.

Its too bad they don’t have a trial period.

Consumer cellular was quite affordable and very good customer

I suggest calling the various companies.

Xfinity is great if you have their internet.

We were on Consumer cellular before Xfinity offered their plan.

Consumer cellular was quite affordable and very good customer service.

I suggest calling the various companies.

I know Consumer Cellular will give you all the details up front.

Verizon does have an accessibility department, so maybe they would be
more helpful.

Hi Kellie,

I don't really have an answer because like you Lyft is working for me on my SE
2020. When he puts in the information what does he see on the screen? When I
put in the information, I only put in the street number and a few letters of
the street name. I don't tap the search button. The list of possible addresses
show up.

Good luck! Take care!

hey everyone, I wanted to come out here and see if anyone is experiencing the
same weird issue that my husband is having with the Lyft app. so, if he is
going to input a Destiination that he has not been to recently and doesn’t pop
up in the list of possible choices, he goes to search for a new address and
when you put the address in voice over refuses to speak any of the results.
Never used to do this but it is now. Oddly enough though, my phone is not
having that problem neither my 11 Pro nor 8+ which I had before and he
currently has.
The app has been updated to the most recent version, he has also tried deleting
and reinstalling it several times and yet he still having the same problem. Yet
I can go in and search for a new location and book the ride with no problems.
Can anyone figure out what or why this is happening and how to fix it? Thanks

pricing. Thank goodness for the accessibility line. When I tried calling
the regular number, I was given this message about the reduced staff due to
COVID and pretty much given the only option of clicking on a link they
texted to me to do an online chat session. I hung up and called the
accessibility line and got a person after maybe a 10 minute wait.

Verizon’s site. It’s like they are hiding the various pricing on calling

Any advice is appreciated. I looked at Xfinity Mobile, which is at

RE: Forwarding a text message to an email address

2020-07-19 Thread Simon A Fogarty
Hi Holly,

Yes that is probably right,

I do know that Samsung had a feature in their android phones that allowed you
to set that up so that all text messages were automatically sent on as / to
emails.

I have tried this years ago with I think it was a Samsung galaxy s4 may be,
But it was a long time ago.

I can’t see why they wouldn’t have kept it in their phones.

Simon:

My computer tech has a Samsung, and he gets all his text messages sent to his
PC. I am not sure if it is automatic, or if it is a program he has downloaded.

Re: Typing programs for learning to type for Mac?

2020-07-19 Thread Devin Prater
The thing I kinda don’t like about Keystroke is that it doesn’t really keep
track of stuff. I mean, it’s a nice little thing, and maybe it’ll work for your
client, but Typing Club gives you hints on where keys are, keeps track of how
fast you type and stuff, and is continuously being updated. Your client will
need to know how to navigate with VoiceOver when they use Typing Club, and turn
off VoiceOver, or mute speech, when the lesson begins, but that’s all they need
to do. A client of mine used it successfully, but that was in an educational
setting where we enabled screen reader option “accessibility, blind mode”, for
them. But I was also able to do that on a test account I made as well.

Now, I will say that Typing Club isn’t Typability. It doesn’t go on long
descriptions of where to find keys initially, which is something I’ve brought
up to them, but it does well for a web app made by a company that isn’t
specifically an AT company.
