Thanks Robin, I am now satisfied. I do not like hardshell cases, but appreciate
that they are better for keeping one's iPhone safe.

Thanks for taking the time to respond!

Does this have a belt clip, please, and, having never seen the Otter

Thanks for any further comments and forgive me if I haven't followed

Robin, I've heard of this brand of case before. Do you have one that
has the belt clip attachment? And if so, does that block access to the
charging port and headphone jack when it's in the clip? The reason I
really liked my old Defender is that it didn't block access to either

reason I like the OtterBox Defender over the Griffin Survivor is that
the phone is a lot easier to put back in the clip one-handed using the

Thanks for the correction, I wasn’t considering some of the cases made from a

If the case has some give, it will work. I have a Speck Candy Shell case, and
it fits both phones. A harder case I had for my 6 did not fit my 6S. It
depends on how it is made.

I would think the Otter Box would fit both, maybe the 6S better. Perhaps the
air pocket issue would be resolved with a slightly thicker 6S.

I am told that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are slightly thicker than the

Re: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-21 Thread Robin Frost

Hi,
when the cases for the 6's and 6Plus's came out there was a great deal of
trouble with the protector not lying as flat against the front face of the
phone as it had in prior models. Many users thought this was due to the thin
film that was now covering the home button through which the fingerprint
censor would still work.
I haven't consulted more recent reviews of the cases for the 6s's and
6sPlus's to see if the problem persists as when it happened with the prior
models I went with a different case. It is the unicorn beetle line from
SupCase. It's similar to the defender cases at a slightly lower price point.
I wouldn't say it's exactly in the same class as the defender but if you're
not involved in construction work or dropping your device from great heights
you might make out just fine with this model as I have. All cases I've
purchased for myself and others of this range have lain flat against the
face of the phone in terms of its built in screen protector portion. the
home button fingerprint censor portion of this case is open as it had been
in earlier models of the otterbox defender cases.
Examples of this case can be found here should you like to read more. I've
no affiliation with them I've just been a happy customer. I hope that
helps.

Do the Otterbox defender cases really have air pockets, like a lot of people
seem to be saying, or is that just one person or two people that had a

screen protector is because I often touch my phone with dirty hands.

I had a little problem with Otterbox Commuter when I had it for my
IPhone6Plus.
Power button was getting pushed frequently with just the accidental touch
of my finger.
So, I replaced it with Otterbox Defender. Defender does not have that
problem, however, its screen protector does not snugly flush with the
screen and leaves some air-pockets here and there, thus you have to tap
very hard at times.

Re: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-21 Thread englishrider91
Robin, I've heard of this brand of case before. Do you have one that has the
belt clip attachment? And if so, does that block access to the charging port
and headphone jack when it's in the clip? The reason I really liked my old
Defender is that it didn't block access to either of those ports, and the
Griffin Survivor that I have now does. Another reason I like the OtterBox
Defender over the Griffin Survivor is that the phone is a lot easier to put
back in the clip one-handed using the OtterBox Defender.

Thanks,
Ari

2015-11-21 Thread Robin Frost
Hi,
I was told by someone from Otterbox that the properties of the material
composing the build in screen protection on the cases for the 6s’s and 6s
Plus’s had been made a bit thinner so as to better interact with the new 3d
touch gestures. whether this is in fact truth or marketing hype I do not know.
I’m merely reporting what they told me when I called to inquire what made the
“new” cases for these models different from their predecessors.

RE: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-21 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
The phone goes inside the defender case and the relatively thick plastic screen
cover is part of the case, it is not put onto the glass with an adhesive like
other, thinner screen protectors. There may not be actual air pockets, but by
nature it can never be as tight a fit and there will be a very small amount of
give. I just don't like screen protectors and couldn't care less if I touch my
phone with wet or dirty hands, if the screen is dirty I just wipe it clean
again. After all, it's just a piece of glass and you still have to wipe the
case/screen protector as well if it gets dirty.
Also, if you have a 6S or 6S Plus, these phones are highly water resistant even
though Apple doesn't draw a lot of attention to that. But when iFixIt did their
iPhone 6S and 6S Plus tear down, they discovered seals around the touch screen
and all buttons and ports. There are also Youtube videos and reports where
people put their iPhone 6S in a bowl of water for half an hour and the phone
was working fine afterwards. Would I do that, heck no, but it's good to know
that a few splashes of water or using your phone in the rain won't be an issue.
It is my guess that Apple will officially announce a standard of water
resistancy with the iPhone 7. I think a lot of people think the iPhone is way
more fragile than it really is.

Sieghard

Do the Otterbox defender cases really have air pockets, like a lot of people
seem to be saying, or is that just one person or two people that had a problem,
and now it's getting hyped way out of hand? The reason I want the screen
protector is because I often touch my phone with dirty hands.

2015-11-21 Thread Christopher Chaltain
I agree that the iPhone isn't as fragile as some people think. I do use
a screen protector, but I use it to get tactile dots in key locations to
help with screen navigation.

I don't think screen protectors are primarily meant to keep your screen
clean but rather to keep it from getting scratched with things like keys
or other things in your pocket or purse.

Another thing cases are used for is to protect your phone when it's
dropped. I have a bumper on one of my phones because I got it as a gift,
but in general, I don't use cases on my smart phones or tablets. My wife
uses her phones a bit differently, so cases and screen protectors
definitely make sense for her.

Hi Ari,
Good question. I don't often use the holster belt clip thingie however in

I can report with great joy and gladness that it blocks neither of those

can say with certainty that both charging and headphone ports are accessible

Robin, I've heard of this brand of case before. Do you have one that has the
belt clip attachment? And if so, does that block access to the charging port
and headphone jack when it's in the clip? The reason I really liked my old
Defender is that it didn't block access to either of those ports, and the
Griffin Survivor that I have now does. Another reason I like the OtterBox
Defender over the Griffin Survivor is that the phone is a lot easier to put

The reason that I find the Griffin Survivor hard to holster with one hand is
that the clip brackets the phone on either side, near the speaker and charging
port. There's little grooves on the case where the clip brackets The phone. You
have to match up The Divet in the case to the clip on the earpiece side of the
phone, and once you match them up, keep pressure on it while you press the case
into the other side of the clip. I think I making it sound more complicated
than it actually is. On the other hand, the OtterBox defender sort of cradles
the landscape side of the phone that's facing the ground, and you just push on
the landscape side of the phone that's facing up towards your waist at the top
of the phone, and the phone just clicks into place.

Hi,
As I said no pockets of air between screen protector and phone front thus
far with me. One case that I did run into that had a tiny bit of it wasn't
significant enough to impact operation of the device but was easily fixed by
a friend through an even exchange for a better fit.
You'll be glad to know that the holster cradles phone more like the defender
one nothing to match up in order for it to work.

I'm partial to the Ballistic cases. The size and weight it adds to the phone is
minimal and the buffer edge it provides around the screen is more than what a
lot of other cases have.
I don’t' care for Otterbox or those other cases that turn your phone into a
mini transformer and make it hard to insert and remove from the case. Getting a
phone in and out of a Ballistic case is straight forward and doesn't involve x
amount of pieces and possibly bending a nail prying open this or that.

RE: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-20 Thread Cristóbal
I've never bothered looking for one with a belt clip as I have no need for one,
so I can't really say. They're all on Amazon if you want to give a quick
look-see. Maybe there is a belt clip model. I simply don’t' know.

Do any of the Ballistic cases come with a belt clip that does not block the
charging port or headphone port?

Ok, I'll have to go look for these; even I'm getting fed up with them. But had
them on devices sincne my original 3GS.
I'm happy with the iPad in a Griffin Survivor, but it is pocket issues -
getting phone in and out, is the thing.
But they are robust for the butterfingered amongst us.

I'm partial to the Ballistic cases. The size and weight it adds to the phone is
minimal and the buffer edge it provides around the
screen is more than what a lot of other cases have.
I don’t' care for Otterbox or those other cases that turn your phone into a
mini transformer and make it hard to insert and remove
from the case. Getting a phone in and out of a Ballistic case is straight
forward and doesn't involve x amount of pieces and
possibly bending a nail prying open this or that.

I had a little problem with Otterbox Commuter when I had it for my IPhone6Plus.
Power button was getting pushed frequently with just the accidental touch of my
finger.
So, I replaced it with Otterbox Defender. Defender does not have that problem,
however, its screen protector does not snugly flush with the screen and leaves
some air-pockets here and there, thus you have to tap very hard at times.

2015-11-20 Thread Cheryl Lenartiene
Hi all,

I am told that the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus are slightly thicker than the
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. The cases, therefore, are not interchangeable. I
looked into getting an OtterBox Defender for my iPhone 6s Plus, but was steered
away from it by the representative at my cell phone company because the fit
would have been tight.

RE: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-20 Thread kimmie parutu
The iphone 6 and the 6s are the same size though, because I can put my power
case with both iphones.

Otterbox Defender, Griffin Survivor, Otterbox Commuter all spring to mind at
the heavy or more robust end; but this is mostly
personal taste.

Hello all,

Can iPhone 6S owners tell us which iPhone case you use to protect this
expensive and valuable device?

Thanks!

Danny

Re: Best Case for iPhone 6S

2015-11-20 Thread Lois Butterfield
If the case has some give, it will work. I have a Speck Candy Shell case, and
it fits both phones. A harder case I had for my 6 did not fit my 6S. It
depends on how it is made.

I would think the Otter Box would fit both, maybe the 6S better. Perhaps the
air pocket issue would be resolved with a slightly thicker 6S.

Take care,
Lois

2015-11-20 Thread Jennie Facer
The iPhone 6+ and 6S+ are interchangeable. I like the tech 21 flip case. You
have to answer the phone with the case open, but then you can close it and talk
so you don't get nasty grease on the screen. It sells for about $50. I got mine
at the Verizon Store.
