Re: Making Videos with iPhone 5?

2013-03-19 Thread Patrick Neazer
Hello Lisa and all:

Congratulations on taking your first video. I am sure you are thrilled :).
nothing like a sense of accomplishment.

As has already been pointed out, landscape provides a wider viewpoint. However,
portrait may produce better results indoors or when you have a large amount of
light.

If you can separate yourself from $0.00 you might want to pick up the light
detector app. then you can play around with your camera in relation to the
light you have in which to take pictures and video. Here is the link:

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/light-detector/id420929143?mt=8

Much good luck to you and please let us know if this information proves useful
to you.

Take good care and I wish you enough.

Re: Making Videos with iPhone 5?

2013-03-19 Thread Patrick Neazer
Hello Fred and all:

Unfortunately, your question does not have a simple answer because light level
is not the only aspect of light which determines a quality picture or photo.
Type of light, color of light, and the surroundings play a part. The premise
behind my response to Lisa was that she … as anyone else … will have some
familiarity with both their surroundings and the subjects they are working
with. If for example, I am wanting to take a picture or video of my sister in
my upstairs hallway, there is no natural light. It is all artificial light.
Now, if she is waring a lighter color which she tends to do ;) the light level
may need to be lower or else she will wash out. Same person, same picture or
video done outside may require a different level of light to produce a
particular outcome.

Shortest answer that can be provided without a minor physics lesson which may
be beyond the scope of this list and we have not even begun to throw distance
into the mix :).

If you are looking for a rule of thumb … the light level behind the object is
the one worth monitoring ;). try to catch the cat as she is passing in front of
the lamp :). works like a charm.

Take good care and I wish you enough.

Re: Making Videos with iPhone 5?

2013-03-19 Thread Lisa belville

Hi, Patrick.

I have the light detector app on my phone and have been using it
successfully for several weeks. It's actually one of the first apps I
installed.

I honestly didn't think about using it before doing the video because I was
in my living room, and I have two large windows facing due west, and it was
around noon on a bright sunny day, so I knew there was plenty of light
coming in.

I actually enjoy the light detector for the noises it makes. I can point
the phone at my floor, which is covered in light grey carpet and tell when
my black Lab walks under the phone because of how the tones decrease in
pitch as she moves past. My next test is to try something smaller like a
flashing LED.

Re: Making Videos with iPhone 5?

2013-03-17 Thread Alan Paganelli
Yes, landscape always gives you better videos. It looks more like watching
a movie screen or watching it on TV which is what the sighted are use to.

Yes, iPhone does offer help when taking a still picture of a person. You'll
hear something like face in center of screen. When you hear that, fire.
You nailed it. If it says large face then you know it's a close up. If it
says something like small face in lower right hand corner, you are way off
target. Note, it takes time for the camera to auto focus and report it's
findings back to you so it can take awhile and there you are standing there
waiting wile the person your taking a picture of is getting impatient. This
does not work though when shooting video only pictures and then only facial
shots.

Re: making videos

2012-10-17 Thread Rob Harris
Search for 1Touch in the app store, there's two, they're cheap, and this
simple.

Launch them and they start; close them and they stop. That's all there is,
and that's all you need.

Yes, making a video involves recording both audio and pictures at the same
time. If there is no audio then are they not just pictures. Just a
 thought.
Anyway, I'm not sure of the limit but yes it is easy to share them via the
 photos app.

RE: making videos

2012-10-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Hello,

I tried the One Touch Camera and One Touch Video apps, they are separate
from one another and there is also an One Touch Voice Recordings app; as Rob
suggested, look in the app store if you want a more detailed description and
if you search the archives you should also find those posts from a couple of
months ago.

One thing I thought I should add when it comes to taking the picture or
starting the video you can also use the headset and you can press the middle
button of the remote, if you are in the camera app it will either take the
picture or start/stop video depending on whether you have the mode set to
Photos or Video. This would be the same button on the remote you press to
answer/hang up a call or start/pause audio. By using the headset you can
hold the camera and you don't have to touch it at all hence no chance for
movement.

Regards,
Sieghard

RE: making videos

2012-10-17 Thread Sieghard Weitzel
Patty,

You can record video until your iPhone's capacity is full, i.e. if you have
an iPhone 4S or 5 64 Gig and you have no apps on there you can take 57 or
whatever Gigabytes of video, I assume that would be many many hours. If you
have a smaller iPhone and it's filled with music and other stuff except
maybe for 1 or 2 Gig then you can only record 1 or 2 Gig of video.

Regards,

Sieghard
