Hi, coming in very late on this, but one thing which I've noticed lately is that I don't charge my phone as often as I used to since getting the iPad mini. This is because I mainly use my iPad mini as a book reader and for home use for things like Twitter, Facebook, and more browsing. The iPhone is still used as my gps device when I'm out and about and yes, that still uses up battery as if there was no tomorrow, but when I'm at home, the phone doesn't get used as much for that reason. Plus, the bigger capacity of battery of the iPad makes it so I can go several days between iPad charges even when using it throughout the day to listen to podcasts or audio books. -- Raul A. A full charge discharge cycle is recommended once per month. Other than that, it not recommended that you go below 20% very often. The strongest recommendations say it is best for the battery if one keeps the charge level cycling between 30% and 80%, or 40% and 90%. However, this is not practical, so starting at 100% and going down to 20% is ok. Nothing wrong with plugging iPhone in for 10% to 20% of charge add during the day is perfectly good for the battery. Liz, keeping my screen locked really does substantially increase my battery life. I've found that the only apps that really drain the battery are the GPS ones and then the ones that use location services, so something like Tune In Radio can also be a drain if I use it long enough. I charge my phone once a day, and I try to charge it when I am in bed. I try to maximize my battery power by keeping the screen locked when I am not using the phone and keeping the App switcher empty. I also for the most part will not charge the phone until I get to 20% power. Maria, I charge my iPhone 5 nightly. On most days, it has anywhere from 50% to 60% of its charge remaining so I'll plug it into my computer's USB port while I'm working on the computer or watching TV before going to bed. I'll let it charge to 100% before turning in and will also back it up to my computer using iTunes and sync it as well. I know it is good to let the battery run down completely occasionally but I've not established a pattern for doing this so it's time to do it again. Hello, Maria. I usually charge my phone each evening, even though the battery might still be at 40%. However, I often bring my charger to work if I know I will be using the phone significantly in the evenings. Thus, I can give the phone a boost so that it will last until I'm ready to go to bed. I am looking into getting an external battery for my iPhone 5. I have bluetooth on all the time so I can just use the keyboard when I like. With or without bluetooth on though, I normally have to charge mine every day. Well, if you're letting it run down to 10% to 20% regularly, I'd skip running it all the way down to 0% once a month. You're just burning through a cycle unnecessarily. Other than that, I don't see anything wrong with what you're doing. The trick is that you just want to avoid the extremes. I charge my phone over night and usually have to charge it in the evening, too. I use my phone a lot, for news, weather, reading books, and listening to tv and music. I find that if I use the charger that came with my iPad, it charges quicker. BTW, I have seen no ill effects from leaving the phone on the charger. It just runs on AC power. I like the Powerskin cases a lot. Not only to they include a spare battery, their rubber texture keeps the phone from sliding around too much. The sliding issue is the main reason I have a case. While I know the phone is reasonably durable and could probably withstand some dropping, I don't like to have to hold the phone with one hand and work with it using the other. I charge my phone when it's about 10 to 20%. Once a month or so I let it go to 0%. I'm willing to change habits though if for example keeping it charged overnight every night or whenever I'm at home is safe. Hi, I have a 3gs which I charge several times a day. Thios is usually because I do not lock the screen. I normally try to charge it while I am in bed over night but thats about it. Hello, I never leave my phone charging unless its connected to my Mac, and I just need it to be connected for whatever reason. I generally get a full days use from my iPhone 5 on a full charge. A full day for me is about from 7:30 AM to about 9 or 10 PM. This is while doing about an hours worth of streaming music, maybe 30 minutes to an hour of phone calls, more texting than I'm willing to count, lol, and around an hour of just miscellaneous activities like using Siri, web browsing, checking/composing e-mail, a game here or there. hi, it pretty much depends on what you have it on and what you are doing. for me, in average, i charge my iphone at least ones a day. that is with me doing pretty much multi tasking all the time, and using my iphone as my main communication device. I usually charge it when its about 20/%, or, if i know i going to have a long day, i'll try to charge it as frequent as i can in that day. I found that, it takes much longer to charge your iphone ones you let it go lower than 20% Of course, the battery usage also depends on what sort of apps you have one, and on what setting you have those apps on. for example, if you have notification alert on every single apps, and have your mail push in whenever there's new mail coming in, you will find that that drain the battery more. Of course, using gps nav is also another way to drain your battery. I guess, to answer your question, there's no standard as to how often, and how long one charges the iphone. even myself, it varies dependeng on where i am, what i'm doing, and how often i can access to the power alert if, my iphone battery is running low.
