Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display
Hmmm. Maybe this is indeed continuing on some displays, but not others. I have not had it happen since 10.02 as far as I can remember. Would be curious what other models of displays people are seeing this behavior on. Also, how often does it happen? I'm currently running a vefreshabraille and am not seeing it at all. I've switched jobs, so am not able to test on different models of displays. I'd test it now on my Edge, but as I wrote earlier, I'm still waiting for them to give me a RMA. I first tried contacting them Jan 3. This was really helpful. From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Scott Davert Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2017 9:41 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display Hi Dulce. As long as you are comfortable with 14 cells, it's not a bad option at all. The keyboard is a bit less angular than what you would be used to on the Braille Sense, which took me some adjusting, but not something that bothered me after the first day of use. I sometimes find that iOS does strange things with braille translation, but that it's no more or less because of the braille display. One thing I will warn you of, and this may not apply to you if you are not in North America, is that if you need to get the Smart Beetle repaired, HIMS Support has gotten much worse in the past year. For example, I asked for a RMA about 10 days ago to return a Braille Edge, and they still have not returned either my email or phone call. I still hear of people who have some good experiences with their support, but I'm hearing more bad things than good these days. I did a review on the Smart Beetle, feel free to read it and ask any other questions you may have. http://www.applevis.com/reviews/braille-devices/smart-beetle-hims Sent from my iPhone On Jan 12, 2017, at 8:32 AM, Davy Cuppens <davycupp...@gmail.com <mailto:davycupp...@gmail.com> > wrote: Dulce I have this brail device, in fact it is a good one, very small, smart and ergonomic. RE: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display
Yes, HIMS was among the best for support. I have not seen the prototypes of the Orbit 20, but I have my name in with the NFB store to get one to check out when they are released. My Braille Edge display died recently and when it was going to cost $2300 to repair it, I decided to wait for the Orbit 20 and if that doesn’t meet my needs, I think I will look at the Vario Ultra 20. I have seen all the rest through my work. Fraedon Scientific, Humanware, and APH have all processed support requests I've submitted on behalf of consumers within 48 hours. It's just sad, because HIMS has made good hardware. RE: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display
How frequently does this happen? How long have you had yours and without repairs? From: viphone@googlegroups.com [mailto:viphone@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of Davy Cuppens Sent: Thursday, January 12, 2017 8:33 AM To: viphone@googlegroups.com Subject: Re: Smart Beatle 14-Cell Braille Display Dulce I have this brail device, in fact it is a good one, very small, smart and ergonomic. But in connection with ios, I feel that sometimes lettters and signs are skipped while typing. Just like some characters are swallowed while typing so that you can have a phrase like: the weather is nice today, the weathr is nce today.
