Apple ID
For some reason, App Store/Software Update will not accept my Apple ID and password (which also are my iCloud ID and password - seems to be the standard thing) when I try to update/upgrade my software and system. It continually comes back with the incorrect Apple ID showing, one that is very similar but with a small error, and will not accept the password. This has lead, during the last several days, to my being compelled to reset my Apple ID and password numerous times. Each time it must be a new password that has not been used in the last twelve months. I am running out of options. Is there any way I can get Apple to accept the new settings? Each time I do reset it comes back with same old error ID. Getting very sick of this Cloud nonsense. Hi John, You need to Sign Out of your 'incorrect' Apple ID and then 'Sign In' with your correct Apple ID. Re: Apple ID
Hi Ronni, Thanks but I have attempted that several times. The problem occurs when I try to update/upgrade from the App Store. When I click on update, a screen pops up requesting I ‘Sign in to download from the App Store’. This screen as where the incorrect Apple ID is already inserted, greyed and uncorrectable appears. The error is a transposition of two characters in the first part of my Apple ID and no password is acceptable. When I innate the App Store or Software Update directly it accepts my correct ID until I attempt to actually update items. I am unsure how this error occurred, possibly my own finger troubles typing initially, but there is no record of the incorrect ID in my Keychain or anywhere else I can find on the computer. Until this issue is fixed, I can not update or upgrade. Re: Yosemite and system software
Ronni As for Macbook same as mine (except for size) MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Early 2013) He has signed in with Apple ID. Not sure about prompts to questions when he signed in. Can he re-do that somehow? The problems seem to be with most Apple programs, Mail and App store. Can't do anything in Safari I will try the library cache removal. (can't right now am sick) Thanks for the advice Cheers Rosemary Rosemary Spark PO Box 781 South Fremantle WA 6162 Australia Phone: + 61 8 94336609 Mobile: 0414268043 arkaysp...@gmail.com On 24 October 2014 15:44, Ronni Brown ro...@mac.com wrote: What are the details of your husband's MacBook? Re: Apple ID
Hi John, Ok, this sounds like you have purchased Apps using the 'Old' incorrect Apple ID at some time. This means apps are associated with your old Apple ID. If you have downloaded apps from the App Store using your 'Old' Apple ID you won’t be able to update using the new Apple ID. All apps are forever tied to the AppleID under which they were purchased. Go to the link below and follow the instructions and choose Forgot your Apple ID Fill in the information in the resulting page and Apple will find it for you and help you reset your password. http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5787 If not successful you might need to contact Apple Support to sort this out. Transient Alert Message
For several days I have received an Alert message box in the middle of the screen after waking the iMac from sleep. This fades away after a few seconds, before I can fully comprehend the message. (Similar to a Notification banner.) Can such messages be retrieved from a file somewhere? Or is there a setting for user control to close the message box? (Message was something like “server connections interrupted” and showed a “Data” disk. I assumed this was Time Machine / Time Capsule related. Today I shut everything down, then restored modem, TC, and iMac in sequence. No alert message appeared.)
